Stayed at the Canopy and wanted a late night bite to eat. We come down to the convention center all the time for volleyball tournaments and didn't even know this place existed! It is our type of bar... Small and just a nice little place to hang out. Bartender was super friendly and service was great. I ordered the Philly cheesesteak and it was so fresh and delicious. My husband ordered a Smashburger and thought it was really good. I had a martini and it was a bonus they had blue cheese stuffed olives! :)We will definitely be coming back when we return for tournaments!! read more

I've always passed Flatiron Tavern on walks and runs and assumed it was just a bar with typical bar food. Little did I know, when I finally checked out their website, they have a TON of Philly cheesesteaks! I love a good Philly, so I knew I had to give it a try. Our service was pretty slow, but honestly, that's kind of on par with a bar, so I wasn't too surprised. Still, this could be worked on. We were on the patio and our server admitted he didn't know who was helping us. It turned out to be him - but after 15 minutes of waiting lol. The space is super cool and really unique. It has a fun atmosphere that makes it feel like more than just your typical neighborhood bar. The food was great! They have lots of different ways to build your own Philly, which I loved. There were also a bunch of different sauces to choose from, and I especially enjoyed getting to try those. The fries were thin, crispy, and came with a CRAP ton. They were really good and definitely not skimpy on the portion! Overall, I was pleasantly surprised by Flatiron Tavern. Definitely not just a bar with bar food like I originally thought. I'll be back for another Philly! read more

Flatiron Tavern - Sandwiches Near Me - Columbus, Ohio

To preface this appropriately, we had several cocktails before arriving and hadn't eaten in several hours. The Flatiron is a skinny ass triangular building which is pretty cool. The vide is urban tavern with several TVs showing the Cleveland Guardians game which also is cool. It was not too noisy, not too quiet on a Friday night. We got some draft lagers and they were good: proper carbonation and clean tap lines. I got an order of buffalo wings and a side of tater tots. I asked for blue cheese but got ranch. My spousal unit got the BYO cheesesteak with beef brisket, provolone and onions. Ok, so the wings were not the best. It was a good crisp fry with no coating or breading which is to be commended, but there was some odor and flavor I just couldn't place. It almost smelled like fish sauce. Weird and distracting. It wasn't bad, but that smell of fermented fish... not what I wanted. Also, ranch for a blue cheese guy is just wrong. However, the cheesesteak was delish. I only had a bite but we both agreed it was very good. Don't come at me Philly, I know it wasn't that good, but it was way more solid than I expected and I instantly regretted my wing order at the first cheesesteak bite. Will I go again? Yes. Will I get the wings? Nah, cheesesteaks all day. read more

Good service, cool old building. Went with a group and most enjoyed their food (mine was not that great). I ordered the tavern fries, with balsamic and cheese mixed in, and was not thrilled with the taste. Also had a chicken breast sandwich minus the bun (can't have gluten) but it was pounded fairly flat and then grilled - very tough and not flavorful. Had bordered regular fries or a burger, I probably would have been happier with my meal. read more

I visited sweltering Columbus and one of my stops was the Flatiron Tavern. It was in a very old building and had that old Tavern like ambiance. I ordered the "Philly Cheesesteak" and since I often review this delicacy I was excited. The bread was nice and warm, the steak was more "chunks" than what would find in Philly. You can also order your ingredients which is not usually an option. Overall it was good. I also had "onion petals" which was a highlight. It was the Tavern's version of onion rings and pretty good. Service was very friendly and fast. Nice lunch spot. read more

I was in the area for a Crew game, I really wanted this place to be good. However It was just ok. Cheese for the Nachos was barely warm, and the sandwiches were just ok, needed seasoning, The wings looked good, I wished I would have gotten them instead. It does have good cold beer. read more

This is an adorable pub in downtown Columbus. It is in a skinny corner building like one you would think of being in England. Seat yourself, they have a bar, high-tops, tables, and a some outdoor seating available. The staff are friendly and attentive. We ordered the loaded buffalo chicken sweet potato fries and the philly cheesesteak. The fries were delicious and not too spicy. They have create your own cheesesteaks, where you choose the meat, cheese, and toppings. It was really yummy. This was a fun little place, and I loved that it was in a walkable distance to the downtown Pins location. read more

I enjoyed the Flatiron Tavern because of the history and was closed briefly before it came back in business. I had the Patty Melt with Cheddar with Onion Pedals awhich was worth paying a little more than getting Lays chips and a Diet Coke. One person at my table had the Italian Sausage which was a little spicy and onion pedals, while two others had the Smash Burger with cheese and Fries. I enjoyed my Patty Melt and Onion Pedals with horseradish sauce. Next time, I will get The Flatiron Cuban sandwich and Onion Pedals and they have their own Philly sandwiches too. Please check out The Flatiron Tavern and there is outdoor seating for warmer weather months. read more

Located on Nationwide Dr near the convention center, there is a shared parking lot in the back. The building is long and skinny, seating is a premium. There is not enough space to accommodate large groups, and you can't combine tables because of fire code in the space available. There is 1 round table that seats 5, a handful of rectangle tables that seat 4, 3 top tables near the bar, and seating along the bar. There is also limited seating outside. We arrived around 11 and there was a lot of available seating. Initially the bartender assisted us and she was friendly and accommodating. However, she forgot ours and several tables drink orders and when the waiter took over, he had to rush around to catch up. Both were super pleasant and helpful, just seemed a bit overwhelmed even tho the place was more empty than full. We ordered a build your own cheesesteak and the blue line blackened burger. Both were cooked well and really delicious. The burger was juicy and flavorful, the blue cheese sauce was yummy. The fries were good, but the star was the tater tots. I also had a Kraken Punch (rum punch) and it was so good. Overall, the experience was great. read more

I actually have no idea how the food is here. We were greeted when we came in and told we could sit wherever. The place wasn't too busy so we took a table near the middle of the restaurant. We waited about 8-10 minutes and never got greeted again. The frustrating part is that the waitress walked by us 7 times and never even made eye contact, let alone greet us. She was very concerned with changing the television stations but not with providing us service. We left without anyone talking to us after the initial greeting from the hostess. read more

If you're looking for some of the best wings in Columbus, look no further. Found this place online after a quick search for wings. The wings were so good, I actually went back a second time in less than a week. The vibes were typical bar vibes, the service was better the second visit but the food was great both times. We tried the Mac n Cheese, wasn't bad at all but nothing that I'd order again. The wings are what I went for and I'd recommend those as a 10/10! read more

I came here specifically to try the cheesesteak because everyone raved about it and I.... just do not get it. It tasted like boiled unseasoned beef and didn't have nearly enough cheese and the bread was crumbly and lacking taste. Even the side of onion petals was burnt (not crispy, I mean burnt and they tasted like carbon). At least the server was nice and the playlist was good. We won't be coming back however. read more

Great food and great service! Had never been here and just stopped in but would definitely visit here again!

Came here before a concert (we're out of towners) and made a reservation, which was unnecessary but was reassuring. There were great happy houe specials; I believe my well vodka cranberry was $4.50, and many of the apps were discounted. We had the marinara sticks, which were piping hot, melty, and seasoned well. The vibe is very much a total dive bar (complimentary!!!!!) and I am a fan of anyplace where you can see your food grilled before your eyes... it's kind of like foreplay. I loved the way you can customize the cheesesteaks. I got the ribeye with cheddar cheese sauce (definitely not spray cheese), mushrooms, bell peppers, and banana peppers. It is probably in my top 5 cheesesteaks of all time. Fries were salty and crispy but not oily. If I lived here I'd be a regular. If you're fortunate enough to be local, please go! These types of places are a dying breed. No pretentiousness, no frills, no BS. read more

Was in town for softball twice, and visited both times. As a native of Erie, PA, I'm a bit of a wing snob, and like my cheesesteaks. The food at Flatiron is amazing, fast, and hot. Awesome wings, perfect Philly, and onion petals were a nice touch. Can't say enough about the service. It was a team effort, and I don't think I went 5 minutes without someone checking on me. If you are staying at a downtown hotel in Columbus, skip the hotel restaurant and walk the 5-10 minutes for cheaper and better food and drink with outstanding service. read more

* Their menu highlights the Ribeye Flatiron Philly. But they were dry and boring. And almost $20. * Mac and cheese was a no. Odd noodle choice with sprinkled cheese. * Waitress brought a glass of beer, carrying it with her five fingers around the rim. * Really no seating for more than 4. * Expensive and uninteresting. Not worth your time. read more

The ambiance is not great. You will get a definite dirty old dive bar vibe when you walk in but, its all uphill from there. The menu seems like pretty typical pub fare. Everyone at my table went with build your own cheesesteak options and sides of tater tots. The tots were so nice and crispy! They were great. My sandwich was ribeye, habanero pepper jack cheese, banana peppers and cherry pepper aioli. It was a simple well cooked cheesesteak with some nice light heat. Everyone was very satisfied. Added bonus, the bathroom was surprisingly clean and well maintained. read more

Philly cheesesteak was 8/10. Nothing to brag about, but good. The onion slivers were a hit 9/10. Parmesan wings were good too, 9/10. The quesadillas were ok, 7/10. Service was good. Food took a little while, but the beers came fast. Place is in an historical building and looks really nice inside. Good place to hit up to watch the games or grab some grub. read more

Got take out and ordered in advance on their website which made it a breeze! The online ordering system was easy to use and you can pick whatever you'd like and pay online in advance before picking up. I got to the establishment before the food was ready, but got prompted on a notification once my food was ready for pick up. Pick up was also a breeze. Took this back to my hotel to enjoy for the night. Here's what I got: Burger with fries: 3/5 - A standard burger that came with cheese, tomato, red onions and lettuce. Fries were good. Ketchup came in packets on the side so I could put as much or as little as I wanted to my desire. Caesar salad 2/5 - This was a little sad and can skip. The lettuce leaves were really chopped up, croutons weren't the greatest and caesar dressing was nothing special. I liked that the dressing came on the side though! Service/ ambiance and ordering system: 4/5 - Looks like a cozy spot that locals probably go into all the time. It's your typical bar food/ bar. Staff were nice when I went in to pick up my order. Online ordering system was a breeze. read more

We love this place. The menu is the perfect size - they stick to what they know and do it right. We are from Cincinnati but are in Columbus often and stop here to eat when we can. Beer selection is solid, but would like a little bit of an expanded menu of drafts. The fries are amazing, as is the build your own Philly cheesesteak. Service is always great. Nice, neighborhood tavern feel where you can meet your friends, bring a date or stop in with your family. read more

This place is more of a bar, that has food rather than a food place that has a bar. The place, to me was a bit loud and the speaker setup is weird. They have it setup for stereo, but there are only speakers on one side...so you hear half the song. But, the part you do hear is plenty loud. The service was decent, but it seemed that as they go busier, the attentiveness drops off...quickly. Overall, the food was pretty decent. I had their Blue something or other. It was supposed to be blackened...llike a black and bleu burger...but not so much. It was a good burger, but definitely not blackened. As a bar that has food goes, it was pretty okay. Will I go there again? Probably not. There are lots of other places in the Arena District. read more

Food was hot and delicious, I got the quesadilla appetizer- I surpassed my expectations. The peppers and onions were crisp and not soggy inside. Sauce was not just basic sour cream and was really good paired with. My husband got the blue cheese burger and he really liked it as well. Servers were all busy (3 for the whole restaurant at 5 with many conferences in town) but attentive and had a good attitude. Would def visit again if we are back in Ohio read more

Stopped in with some friends to get something to eat. And I told everyone at the table to try the Ribeye Philly Cheesesteak. And it was simply amazing. My friends kept saying it was the one of the best sandwiches they have ever had. The service was great, the food was amazing. And the overall atmosphere was laid back and cool for a Friday night. We throughly enjoyed ourselves. Can't wait to comeback and get another Ribeye Philly Cheesesteak!! If you are looking for a solid sandwich this is your sign to go and try one here! My husband and I came here after a hockey game for a late dinner and it was a fantastic experience. My husband order the black blue line burger and said it was one of the best he's had. He said he could taste the blackening seasoning on the burger and it went well with the rest of the burger. I had the build your own Philly with the ribeye, white cheddar sauce, all the veggies, and the cherry pepper aioli. It was the best Philly I've had, beating out my favorite from home. Everything was fresh and tasted amazing! Our server was helpful and super friendly. The bar seemed to be well stocked with a wide variety of draft beers, cans, bottles, and spirits. Inside it looked like a nice neighborhood bar and had decor supporting the university and the professional teams in town. read more

Tough for me to give 5 stars, but I came close here. Really, no big reason why except I save 5 stars to my best place. If I could go 4 1/2 here, I would. Location is in a very narrow part of a building. I kept wondering who though it was a good idea to open a place there. Not a knock as there was plenty of room, but I would imagine it can get quite busy very fast. Service was great. Very attentive to our group. Made things very easy for us as we sat a different tables. The food was outstanding. I had their Blue Line Burger. It was very well prepared and very filling. For 14 bucks, it was well worth it. Others had everything from a different type of burger to phillys. Everyone enjoyed their meal. I felt like the pricing here was actually very good compared to other locations of similar quality food. I recommend this place for sure. On second note, I am going to give it five! read more

Stopped in for lunch. Looking at the menu, I was a bit concerned as I need to eat low-sodium. BUT, I just explained how I wanted things and it was accommodated with pleasure. I ordered a ribeye sandwich without the bun and without the cheese and only lightly seasoned with cucumber salad (dressing on the side). It came in a very nice presentation and was delicious. Service was warm and welcoming and the building is well over 100 years old and charming. read more

Ordered pick up from here & was very satisfied with taste & care for food. I got the chicken Philly and omitted the onions. I love that they included multicolored peppers. The cheese sauce was good without being too much. The real story here is that myself and a friend ordered food but paid online and paid separate. Neither of us are locals so when we pulled up in the car we couldn't find any parking spots nearby and it was dark so searching wasn't exactly the best idea. I stayed in the car running while she ran in to grab both our orders. The staff helped her pack it back to my car and also confirmed it was my order as well! Love the kindness. Would definitely come back to eat in as it looked to be a cozy space. read more
