I really enjoyed Press Pub! There is lots of parking. We got there early because we wanted to sit on the patio. We had a reservation so they sat us at our table and told us that if enough tables opened up, they would get us outside (we were a party of 7). Sure enough, within 15 minutes, they were able to get two tables together and we were sitting outside! The waitress got our drinks and brought them outside for us and everything. It was very accommodating. The food itself was great. We got the wings as an appetizer which hit the spot. I ordered the special of the day - fish and chips. It was delicious! They dont have happy hour but they do have lots of drink options, especially beer and the food is always delicious. They do have nightly food specials with Thursday night serving Thanksgiving dinner. We love that the patio stays open into the colder months, and the inside is a more casual bar style but not loud or obnoxious. The service is always good and the food comes out fast. Quaint dive bar vibes in the heart of grandview. The spot is casual and accessible with a parking lot out front. Noise level was decent and it wasn't packed. The menu was your basic pub food but had a wide range of offerings. Wings were good and the Buffalo sauce was solid - nothing to write home about though. I really liked the fries - they look so simple but they were perfectly crispy and soft on the inside 10/10 texture. They had an expansive beer menu with combination of tap and bottles as well as non alcoholic too. Service was very slow as it was just the bartender taking our order and checking us out. I think overall it was a good casual place to hang out with your friends and drink but for the price and quality, it was lackluster. read more

This is my official love letter to Press Pub on 5th! I have been here countless times over the past two years. The friendly service, constant playing of sporting events, and Tobasco mayo sauce keep me coming back. As a former long-time vegetarian, Press Pub's cheeseburger brought me to the dark side (as shown in picture). Add a side of onion rings to that cheeseburger and you have yourself a balanced meal. Although I do not have a photo, I would highly recommend finishing off your meal with their cheesecake. read more

I loved the pizza here. I came just to try it and was not disappointed. Original Pizza: (Dover-New Phila style) Nick's red sauce + Ohio-made Holmes county colby + extra pepperoni. I'm from Dover so there was no way I was going to miss this. There were SO MANY pepperonis on this pizza and I loved every second of it. I added onions. I almost ate the entire pizza myself! 100% recommend. I sat at the bar and the bartender was pretty busy, so she didn't check up on me. I flagged her down for a side of ranch (not good & charged extra for it) and then to get my bill. She was very nice though. read more

My husband and I have been coming here for a few years now and always have had a good experience, but since moving away from Grandview we hadn't been back in a year or so. We both got the shrimp po boy which is one of the best I have had. It tastes fresh and has really good flavors and is very well-seasoned. We did an online order ahead of time, and the food was ready quite promptly - we got a text notification on the way over that it was ready. The hand cut cottage fries were a fun option and hot and crispy. The Pesto Chicken Sandwich was large and filling, featuring bacon, fontina cheese, portobello mushrooms, pesto and mayo with lettuce, tomato, and onion. It was much enjoyed. An $80 meal would be much easier to stomach if the $7 small mixed greens salad was anything greater than old romaine and a few pieces of wilted purple lettuce tossed in a brown dressing that made it look even less fresh, if that is at all possible. What the meatloaf sandwich lacked in flavor, it made up for in size (as if this is a good thing). Our child was naturally pleased with her veggie quesadilla, which is tough to make unappealing. The wings were fine, if a bit dry. Save for the service, beer, ginger ale refills, and quesadilla, suffice it to say I had a hard time talking myself out of this negative review and am still having buyer's remorse this morning. read more

It's been a while since I've been to a place that was just solid though and through like Press Pub On 5th. What a great find for a casual evening out on the patio. The menu is pretty standard for bar food- burgers and fries, salads, pizzas, etc. Their daily specials seem to be good. I started with gin and tonic (they didn't have black rum for a dark and stormy which was the only let down of the evening). Had a double cheeseburger (smash burger) for dinner with wedge fries. My wife had the regular fries with her Press burger, and they were awesome!! Better than my wedge fries, which were also cooked perfectly. The homemade ranch was a huge selling point. We both ate and drank for $46 before tip. Server was friendly and attentive. I'd definitely go back. I'm intrigued by the smoked pork sandwich and will be trying that next. read more

This time I went with a coworker, she had the chicken salad sandwich which was the special for the say and I had their chicken pesto sandwich which is a regular item on their menu. Picture it: Sunday, noon, slightly rainy and overcast, my wife and I want tacos. Never having been to Barrio Tacos at 5th Avenue and Grandview Avenue, we head over. It's closed. We walk down the street to the Peruvian sandwich shop we like. It's closed. I notice Press Pub a little farther down the street and suggest we walk on down to it. It's open, and there is no wait! We had never eaten at Press Pub before, so we didn't really know what to expect. One glance at the bourbon menu told me that I'd have to come back again sometime -- I can't really do bourbon in the middle of the day, but their selection has me wanting to go back again tonight. So, instead of bourbon, we both ordered the cheeseburger, and I ordered onion rings to share. There were maybe 12 or so other people when we arrived, but they must have arrived basically at the same time -- it took a little while for our food to come out, though the servers were in a constant back-and-forth taking food out to people. We didn't have a super long wait, and there were some entertaining things to see on the tvs. I did notice that the sandwiches being served to other people were huge, and I started to think that I should have ordered one of those instead of a burger. However, when our burgers arrived, I was actually really happy. Some restaurants serve burgers that are so large that one feels lethargic for the rest of the day after eating them. That is not the case at Press Pub. The burger was the perfect size! It filled me up but did not make me feel super full and lazy afterward. And it was only $5.50! The onion rings were also really good. As we sat there eating, the place began to fill up, and we were glad we had arrived when we did. In the end, I'm quite happy that the other places were closed and we wound up at Press Pub. It was comfortable, the servers were nice, and the food was really good. I've been coming here and the other location for close to a decade but recently with new staff changes, I can see the quality and friendliness of staff got a major hit at the grandview location. The place is half empty, the bar is all empty yet the host is telling me she is checking if she has a waitlist. She asks how many when clearly I am the only one. I asked her is it required I bring someone else a friend cause I can I live around the corner. Dumbfounded is the look she gave me. I point at an empty corner table ask if I can get that since there's no waitlist . I get another dumb look with a corny smile. Then a minute later she says I can sit there while I wait for my friend. Here's the catch. I had no friend coming I was being rhetorical with her since she was acting like a rude dummy not wanting to give me a table by myself. At that point, I felt like she was looking at me as a predator and I knew I'd probably get shitty service if I sat there, so I saw myself out. Such a shame for this gem. Used to have some of the friendliest people working there, now all bunch of rude clueless airheads who probably hate their jobs. He is the pickiest person I've ever met, he ordered a plain cheeseburger on Texas toast and hasn't stopped talking about it since we left. I got a burger as well and it was delicious as well. Because of his obsession with this burger he has us stop by Friday as well. I got calamari as an appetizer which was not very good, extremely chewy and off putting, another friend ordered loaded cottage fries which were heavenly. They also have daily specials which is pretty cool too. Service was alright, they seem to be very short staffed which I'm not going to knock them for during these difficult times. I follow them on Twitter and they always post delicious food pics but I have to exercise restraint. Ordered the cuatro tacos this time, never had it before, but it was delicious and what I needed. Press Pub on 5th is a cozy little bar/tavern in Grandview that is a more off the beaten path than it's sister location, Press Grill in the Short North. The restaurant easily accommodated our larger group of friends, with helpful and welcoming service, great drink selection, and great bar food! The cottage fries are where it's at--thinly sliced coins of potato deep fried until golden, crispy perfection. If you feel like upping the ante, get the loaded version to start as a shareable! I kept it simple with the grilled Havarti sandwich, with meaty cheese and tomato sandwiched between two griddled pieces of Texas toast. Naturally I got a side of cottage fries and some of the shallot aioli (can't help but request a dipping sauce), and everything was great and at an awesome price! Today was my second visit to Press... so I figured it's time to give them a solid review! I really like Press. This dimly lit gastropub off of 5th Avenue is a perfect stop for a consistently filling lunch. The price points are fair and they offer free WiFi if you need to get some work done. It is fairly casual. At the same time, you will see people meeting up in dress shirts and slacks. That being said, it's a perfect stop for just about any occasion. The food is good! The first time I went, I got the press burger. It was solid. I'm a sucker for a burger with an egg so it immediately caught my attention. Today, I ordered the egg sandwich with bacon and it was AWESOME. Like really good. Like I'll think about it a lot . I think the most impressive part about press is their giant craft beer selection. They have about 10 beers on tap and numerous cans and bottles. The only disappointing part about the selection was that they didn't have any cream ales. (Which are my favorite). But that isn't a super common beer to come across so I wasn't totally surprised.... Overall, press is a solid stop for a meal. I wouldn't go here expecting to have your socks blown off your feet. But, if you want a solid/consistent option, press is sure to leave you satisfied. read more
