Popped in on a Sunday afternoon and so glad you did! In the Wonder Bread building, loved the vibe! Games were on and nice and cozy inside. Great service and had the chicken nachos which were delicious! We live near Park Street Tavern and didn't realize it was a sister location. Keep up the great work and we will be back!

The City Tavern is in the "Wonder Bread" factory building on 4th St and Lincoln Avenue. We always drove past on my way to somewhere else. This year, we decided to try it out and found it a great place. It has an industrial vibe, and all the tables are high-tops. The space is open and airy, and they have free off-street parking just to the south. We have now been to the City Tavern thrice and were pleased with the food and the service each time. We have had the Shredded Corn Beef Rubin, Tavern Quesadilla, and the Tri-City French Dip. All of the things we have eaten there have been fabulous. We go through the week when they are steady but not slammed; the service has been superb, and the staff is attentive.

We were in town for a convention and I was looking for a place for a group of 6 to go to for dinner and drinks, close to the convention center. The first place we were going to go didn't have reservation available until late so I referenced Yelp for recommendations. Based on feedback I chose City Tavern and so glad I did. There was something for everyone on the menu and there was a great selection of drinks. The service was amazing, food and drinks came out pretty quick. Everything tasted good. (The mushroom dip was a hit.) We liked it so much, that my friend and I came back today while we waited for our husbands to finish up at the game convention. Service and food were very good again. We had the same waitress, from last night, who recognized us. Give this place a try if you are in the area.

City Tavern is a cool little sports pub. The inside is somewhat small, but it has a neat atmosphere. There are plenty of TV's. The staff was friendly and responsive. Drink prices are incredibly reasonable, and they have a full menu with some healthier options as well (wraps, salads). I wasn't too hungry when I went with some friends to watch a game, but did munch on some chicken fingers and fries. They weren't that great and appeared to have skin on them underneath the breading. But given the large menu I would definitely give the kitchen another shot. There is also a small parking lot just south of the building which was pretty convenient.

Don't let the outside scare you away! From the outside it seems like a dingy bar in a warehouse, but inside is much cuter! The food and service were excellent. They didn't have a lot on tap, but they had a lot of can selections. It seemed like they had many daily specials and their menu was vast. I would definitely go back if I am in the area!

I've driven by this place for years always curious but never stopped. I'm glad I did! Food was great. Service was very speedy. I love the ambiance inside. If I lived closer this would be my watering hole!

The food here is actually top notch. The best thing we got was the Mac and cheese with buffalo chicken, but everything was good! The wedge was packed with flavor, the fries were great, we had mozzarella sticks that were tasty. My friends got a quesadilla and the chicken sandwich and everything was good. It's got a very hole in the wall vibe inside, but it's clean. Our waitress was nice and helpful, we did have to ask often for things like a knife and more water that probably should have been standard. But other than that it was a good stop for when you are hungry!

Food delivered. Food was "ok". Very basic and nothing stood out. Was not a bad experience but was just "meh". I asked for no feta in the side salad but it came with feta anyway.

I am giving a 4 out of 5 only because this Tavern only has high top tables. No regular tables for us "short " people to sit at. Went with friends for dinner on Monday and was presently surprised they have a $6 hamburger special on Monday. Although I didn't order it a couple of friends did and they enjoyed the burger. I ordered the grilled cheese with bacon and tomatoes with a cut of tomato bisque. The sandwich was delicious and perfect for dipping into my soup! The bisque was flavorful and served temperature hot!! Service was excellent!

Food is good but a bit overpriced. On top of that, they sneakily added a $1.00 "transaction fee" on top of the check.

Ask the Community - City Tavern

Is the regular menu available during lunch on weekends or just brunch only?

Hi Jamie, the full Menu is available all the time, including during brunch! Hope to see you soon!

When you guys were moving in, the owner said he was going to hand out discount cards to residents of the Wonder Bread Lofts. Is that still in the works?

Hi Zack, We have discount cards for you, available at the restaurant. We are also working on a special event for residents of the lofts. Hope to meet you soon!

    What's the parking situation?

We own the 70 space parking lot on Fourth Street across the street from the restaurant, next to the 670 ramp :)

I can't prove this, but I believe they have the largest whisky selection in the city. Hey make a mean fish and chips, and there is even a day of the week you can get it for half-off (shhh). McClellan's Pub delivered a plate of Fish & Chips so good I briefly considered applying for dual citizenship with Ireland and Great Britain just to honor both sides of the dish. Perfectly crispy, piping hot, and seasoned like the chef whispered sweet nothings to the fryer. The whiskey selection? Huge. Titanic. Practically its own ZIP code. But not a drop of Powers. , A tragedy Shakespeare himself would've rewritten entire scenes for. So, like any self-respecting Irish-at-heart patron, I defaulted to good old Jameson--reliable, comforting, and always there for you, like that one friend who helps you move because they "actually like lifting things." I also grabbed to-go orders for the home tribe: bourbon meatballs, prime rib sliders, and meatloaf. The feedback? Universal acclaim. They devoured everything like I'd brought them a peace offering after years of conflict. If McClellan's ever launches a catering service, entire families could be reunited. The place was packed through Happy Hour and well beyond--apparently, half of Columbus had the same idea. If popularity is a metric of quality, this pub is basically Beyoncé. Temperature-wise? A bit chilly. Could've been the weather... could've been the pub... could've been the frigid realization that they were this close to having my favorite whiskey. Hard to say. Bring a jacket just in case. All in all, McClellan's is a rock-solid choice for hearty pub eats, stellar vibes, and enough whiskey to make you forget they didn't have the one you wanted.

Arrived approximately 3:30pm - restaurant basically empty (maybe 5 tables total occupied). Went to check in for 2 and the host said he had reservations at 5. Huh? So I asked do you mean you can't seat us until 5? And he said no, that we need to leave by then because other people are coming. I thought that was very weird and unprofessional. I've never had an experience like that before. It's a basic sit down place, why would you think we'd linger for more than an hour and a half? Whatever, weird feeling, but we were seated. Seated in the walkway. Not like in a path but literally blocking the walkway where you step down. Why do I say this? Because people walking by kept banging into me. Not their fault. Why is there a table there? And why were we seated there when at least 80% of the restaurant was empty???? Ok whatever. Ordered food including their signature made in-house tots. Waitress comes back and says they were slammed in the morning and they're out of tots. (Man I feel bad for the people coming at 5. LOL) whatever except the people at the next table appeared to be served tots. Food was tasteless. The Mac and cheese had a weird texture like the roux wasn't cooked properly. My patty melt was mostly bread as the patty was too small for the bread. My husband had the signature chimi burger and it completely lacked any chimichurri flavor. Like at all. We were out by 4ish (plenty of time for them to prepare for their expected onslaught) and needless to say I've unbookmarked this place from my yelp. Maybe we'll try the Mexican place across the street next time. ‍
