If you're in the mood for some finger licking fried chicken, you need to go to The Eagle! Their chicken is absolutely delicious, crispy, and the spicy hot honey sauce that comes with it is an absolute game changer! On top of the amazing chicken, all of their sides are fantastic! This is a great choice for a larger group of friends or family since everything is served family style and the portions definitely reflect that Go give The Eagle a try!

Stopped in for dinner with a group. There are a lot of options for beverages on the menu. We asked how many drinks were included in a pitcher and our server said it was as many drinks as people ordering. We thought that was a little strange and ended up ordering single beverages since it didnt seem to have value to order a pitcher. We tried a couple apps like the buffalo dip and asked if there were other options for dipping since a member of our group can't eat fried chips. We were told no but when the food was delivered we asked again and we were told yes and recieved some bread. The entree options were all good especially the shrimp and grits. Overall we enjoyed our food.

After going into five restaurants with a wait of an hour and a half to close to 2 hours, we walked in The Eagle almost defeated and ready to walk back over to Shake Shack for a to go meal, The Eagle has a wait of about 20 minutes. However, the "belly gods" heard our bellies and opened 5 seats at the bar. Initially we planned to sit at the bar and wait for a table but no need since the food menu was the same. I ordered the chicken blt sandwich. It looked like a good portion size so I didn't add anything to it. However, my dining companions ordered sides and shared them everyone so I was able to try the fries (yum-not overly salty but the first order came out cold so we waited for hot fries), another had spoon bread which was cornbread served in a round skillet (very delicious-not dried out and perfect with the honey butter). Four out of five of us ordered cocktails. Three ordered lemon drops and loved it so much, they ordered a second round. I enjoyed my Maple Old Fashioned made with bourbon so one glass was good for me. :) I liked that they had indoor and outdoor seating. It was a little too cold for us on the Saturday evening we were in town but it's a nice space to hang out with family and friends.

We had a fabulous early Dinner after Hops on High. We were so fortunate to get in quickly. Our server Claudia was wonderful. We enjoyed the Hot Chicken Dip appetizer. It did not lack in Spice. We were amused that Claudia even offered extra salt, pepper or hot sauce... like what? The food is seasoned perfectly. Daddins had the braised pulled pork sandwich.. it was enormous. He gratefully didn't order any extra sides. Cohort got the grilled herbed chicken which got raves from him. I enjoyed the half portion of the Southern salad. One of the best salads I've ever eaten! Black eyed peas, green beans, roasted chicken, corn... it was the South in my mouth! Definitely want to come back to try the fried chicken and biscuits.

When visiting OSU for family weekend- we were able to make a reservation at The Eagle with ease! We are from Cincinnati so we know it is a tried and true favorite- but it was still fun to try another location. This was all of our first time trying the nachos and WOW- I can't believe what we've been missing out on! Everything was delicious per usual- and the service was great despite being super crowded for family weekend/homecoming at Ohio State!

Nisey gave absolutely some of the best service I have ever received and talking to Danny was great very cool guy and enjoyed it a lot Food was so good I 100% recommend the burntends

Came in for a late lunch on Saturday with the family and had a great experience! Our server was wonderful and all the food came out so fast and hot. The inside was cute with a picnic style interior, and the patio would be so nice once the weather warms up. Every thing we ordered was absolutely delicious and we will definitely be back!

We showed up at 6:30 for my son's 19th birthday dinner. They said 75 minute wait. Ok fine. We walked downtown and bought stuff, came back at 7:40pm. "Hey it's been almost 75 minutes, think we can eat?" They said well we have reservations at 7:30pm that haven't shown we're gonna wait five more minutes to see if they do. Ok fine. We walked away for ten more minutes to come back. They then say 'ok yea we'll get you a table'. Another guy comes in says he had a reservation. They try and give him our table! But he says he wants bar inside. So we sit at 7:55pm. The waitress is pleasant we order at 8:00pm. At 8:35pm our food is delivered to the table next us! And the runner is asking "whose salad is this" etc the table is like 'we're missing this and that'. No, you gave them our food. So the customers literally hand our plates to us from the next table. The runner apologizes to them! Omg. Now it's awkward even worse. They have pushed me and my two 19&21 yr old sons into the drunk Ohio state crowd we didn't want. The site was asks if it's ok we're like sure but she sees I'm kinda mad. The food is good but 20 degrees colder than it should be even if it's "cold out". They seemed really stressed. The eagle has become a bar with food. It used to be great food with some drinks. Don't hold a reservation because we drove an entire hour to be there. You literally gave up seats to no one. We always tip 25% ask your waitress. The service is really where you messed it up. The food was still ok other than the temperature.

Mac and Cheese, Homemade Biscuits, Sweet Potato Crock

My visit to The Eagle was absolutely outstanding, everything was perfect. I would go over each food item but if I'm being honest it was all amazing, the chicken was crispy, the Mac and cheese had a ton of flavor, the fries had a perfect balance of crisp and potato insides, and the biscuits were smooth and delicious. Everyone at the place was super friendly especially our server Lasha, he brought our food out quick, showed us the menu, and even had a sense of humor. The restaurants environment was perfect on the inside and out, the outside had a bunch of greenery, and the inside gives off a rustic vibe. Overall I loved my visit here and anything below 5 stars is just criminal.

2 words Cornbread Croutons I love them and have only had a few places. They are in the Kale Salad. They also have big drinks. A great late dinner and I would def. go again. The bar seating was good and our bartender was friendly.

Horseradish Mashed Potatoes

Came here with my friends. We had a Sunday night reservation. They were very accomodating in providing my son a booster and high chair. We did not find street parking, so parked at the nearby garage. We ended up getting the drums (5), and ordering the mashed potatoes, biscuits, spoonbread, and mac and cheese as sides. This was enough food for two adults and a toddler. We also got the sweet tea, which is as sweet as how the South would make it, but a good addition to the meal. I enjoyed the spoonbread the most along with thr chicken. I personally did not like the horseradish flavor on the mashed potatoes. The biscuits and mac and cheese were okay too. Overall, a good spot for a fried chicken dinner with all the sides you could want.

Came here for their happy hour, which was lacking in options, however, everything we got was delicious. Great outdoor space and indoor space.

What a positive first experience at the Eagle. We came through for a dinner to celebrate an OSU graduation. We were a party of 8 so they placed us in a semi-private room in the back near the kitchen. Our server was super attentive and very knowledgeable about the menu. He had a whole spiel that he ran through in the beginning. The real shining star moment was when the GM came over to chat with our table. One member of our party had celiac disease. For those that do not know this means they can absolutely not eat gluten without getting terribly ill. As it turns out the GM also has celiac disease and came over to chat through options with us. He also accommodated us by working with the kitchen to cook proteins in a separate pan in a special way to avoid cross-contamination. It's not often you see people willing to accommodate someone so fiercely. It left an impact on me. So thank you to that manager and the staff that helped us. Food was fantastic. I think everyone loved what they ordered. Hush puppies were a big hit at our table. Fries were great. And I loved my fried chicken sammie. We'd definitely return!

Ask the Community - The Eagle Short North

Is there a party room or banquet hall?

You can rent the entire upstairs of the Eagle for a large party. Or there is a room in the back of the first floor for smaller groups. I think there's a contact listed on the website

Do they take Saturday night reservations? Their website says no tables available from 5-9.

I called and they did.

How is the beer selection? Lots on draft with unique craft beers, or is this a cop-out joint with typical domestic and imported boring pours?

Yep... craft beers available

Does the patio allow dogs?

Yep!

Their visual chart is a…read moregodsend for cocktail explorers, and all of the drinks came out delicious and exactly as described. It's so creative, and the drinks are really the stellar stand out here. However, the atmosphere of those drinks is what gives me pause when thinking about coming back. The limited table situation, tiny cramped space, and loud music means that it doesn't feel particularly relaxing. People are constantly brushing up against you (even at 5PM), and holding a conversation at a normal distance is nearly impossible. NOTE: This place is covered in dust. No shade to the ownership as it doesn't appear to be anywhere near food prep areas (it's on the decor, on/around shelving, all over the faux plants, etc.), but if you're someone who's sensitive to dust, this is probably not a good fit. PROS: -I loooooooove how they've done their drink menu. As someone who is still exploring the potential of cocktails, their nerdy "chart" that places all of their drinks on a sweet/bitter and alcohol-forward/approachable visual chart is SUCH a help. As such, everything I ordered was absolutely amazing for me. I knew exactly what to expect from a drink because of its position on the chart, and it delivered. -Their drinks are really unique. Aqua faba? Fat washed alcohols? Lollipops or toasted marshmallows as garnishes? Super cool. Don't let some of the weirder descriptions creep you out of trying them. -All of their drinks were delicious. Everything I ordered was exactly as described. I often go places where the taste is barely related to its namesake, but they were entirely on-point here. CONS: -I'm not sure if someone called off that night as other reviewers are in love with the service, but our service was really really slow. No real rapport with the staff; just stating the name of a drink as they rushed past and then they were off to try to clean a table or take someone else's order. The drinks they made were great, but this isn't somewhere we'd go if we were in a hurry. -The pictures do not accurately convey how small this place is. Like, it's small. I'd guess less than 1000 square feet. My apartment is bigger by a lot. This isn't necessarily an issue, but it means people pile up quickly as they wait for seating (there's like 4/5 tables and then bar seating). The human walkways are small enough that the bartenders and other guests will brush against you a lot - even while seated. -I get the vibe they were going for here, but with the smaller space, I think a lot of the potential decor options had to "go" in order to fit more humans. It's giving me hardcore The Hearth Room (in Cincinnati) vibes, and I think it could honestly pull it off if it simply had more space. The "relaxed, sophisticated bourbon bar" doesn't quite come through as well when things are so focused on simply fitting in more bodies. -It's loud AF. Like, really, really loud. Between all the people and the blasting pop music, it required leaning into someone's ear in order to speak at normal volumes. We'd regularly have to pause the conversation if something in the music was building to a drop. This is not a place I'd take someone I wasn't very very comfortable with because it really requires being in someone's space to talk. -There's a single all-gender toilet here for everyone in the establishment. It's basically a revolving door of people in and out of it. The door auto-closes, however, so it's really difficult to figure out if it's open or not. There was usually a queue of people waiting in front of the door.

My Husband and I randomly stumbled upon this place walking to Chapman's one night after we were JUST talking to a buddy about how Columbus didn't have any "great" Wine Bars. So the next weekend we had to go back and check it out immediately!! This place is so friendly and cute as soon as you walk in. You can sit at a high top table, blue velvet couches for a more laid back option or the bar if you come alone or with a friend! The second best part about this place is you can order of a menu of curated pre picked wines and crafted cocktails or pop into the wine shop connected to it called Hausfrau Haven. You can buy a bottle there and open at The Laundry and split it with friends or your partner which I LOVE! You could even do your own little wine tasting too if you'd like! Lastly if you need a snack to drink more wine they have great little apps like nuts, cheese and a few more rotting options!! *My only complaint is I wish there was a water station or could get a glass of water. Cocktail vibe is more "laid-back friends talking over creative drinks" than sultry, romantic date spot. Tons of natural light means this cocktail bar has had some of my *favorite* cocktail bar photos I've ever taken. It's so pretty in here. NOTES: -During pop-ups, walk-ins are near-impossible on weekends and not likely on weekdays. Make a reservation if you want to make sure you'll have a spot. -No dedicated parking lot. 3-hour-limit free residential parking all around Law Bird, though. We generally have to walk 2 or 3 blocks from parking to Law Bird. Be aware this is German Village, and you're looking at cobblestone sidewalks for high heel and accessibility purposes. -Law Bird mostly has small party seating. If you have a larger group you want to seat during a pop-up, make SURE to get that reservation in early. They have the single 8-person table. -They have snackies and food. Portion sizes are small (despite what the prices may suggest), though, so this is not generally a place to eat a full meal. All of the food is super flavorful, though, so definitely a great snack to add on. PROS: -Keeping things fresh, they regularly host cute seasonal events, new drinks, and pop-up events. In recent memory, I know they've done a Cherry Blossom one, a Spooky Halloween one, and a Christmas one. -They go ALL OUT for their pop-ups. It isn't just a brand new, professionally-printed menu (no pieces of paper with 4 seasonal drinks here). It's also all of their interior decor, bathroom decorations, bartop decorations, and more. Ceiling decor too! They get all up in there. It's really fun to see the space transformed constantly. -Between the new menus and the constantly-new decorations of their space, I love regularly popping into Law Bird. -I LOVE the creativity of the menus, and I LOVE that they offer cocktail classes. (I haven't taken one yet, but I'm excited to!) The menu has unique drinks, served with unique garnishes. They have a few "sugar cocktails", but for the most part, Law Bird drinks tend to be complex and spirit-forward. -Their "themed" bathrooms (even with their own themed music playlists) make me happy. They have two unisex, single room restrooms. CONS: -If you come during a pop-up with a smaller group, they will enforce their reservation time limit of 1.5 hours. This isn't necessarily the end of the world, but the times when they enforce their limits is when they have more customers waiting - and tend to be when the place is at capacity. When they're at-capacity, the bar staff and service staff is a lot busier, with drink service taking longer and servers checking in a lot less. This means we usually only have had the chance to place 2 drink orders during that 1.5 hour time limit before they ask us to leave. This can be rough (to try most of the drinks on a limited time menu) unless you're sharing drinks with your tablemates. If you still want to continue your evening with your friends after that 1.5 hour limit, Antiques on High, Daily Growler, and Cobra are easily walkable from here. -During their pop-ups on weekends, time between placing a drink order and receiving the drink has usually been around 15 to 20 minutes. Not the end of the world as you get to socialize with friends, but again, with the time limit, that can be a bit rough.

That being said, upon opening the door we were told we couldn't come in without masks. Mine was in my pocket, no problem. I haven't left my home (in Tennessee) often enough since the beginning of the virus for it to become habit to automatically put on a mask when I get out of my vehicle. But 9/10 times I remember before entering a public place. The male bartender just seemed rude in the way he told us to put one one. I had read the raving reviews, and being a Yelp Elite myself I know I can and do trust their reviews above others. So....I was really looking forward to trying something new and enjoy watching a bartender do their thing. The bartender pointed to two framed menus on top of a cooler containing seltzer's and canned drinks, and some glass bottles of pre-made cocktails, I think. I would've appreciated the bartender ask me what I liked, and help me decide, but it was easier for him to point to the sign. Customer service absolutely sucked hippo balls. I asked if I could just order a Knob Creek and Coke in a short glass, and a Blanton's for my hubs. Sure!! What I got was a shot of each in a to-go plastic condiment container with a lid, and two big paper go cups (like Burger King) of ice, and a can of Coke, which I told him never mind I had a soda in the truck. We also got two bags of Cheeto's, to make the sale legal. So....we poured our bourbons over the ice in the paper cups. I drank a few sips of mine, yum, even in paper. My husband was just about to take a sip and noticed something stuck in his ice that looked just like a maggot. He walked back across the street and told/showed the bartender, who vehemently denied it came from the ice because it was a brand new bag. Then I noticed 3 of the maggot looking things in my ice, so I went back in and showed my husband and then the bartender. He told my husband it was probably from the citrus he was cutting on a board near the ice bin. They were frozen INSIDE the ice cubes. I'm upset with myself that I didn't take a picture of it, it was gross. I'm upset that a bartender would try to make it seem like it was nothing. After seeing it all in my ice my husband just asked for our money back, and the bartender said, "But I've already poured another." Ummm, sorry, but no thank you. He did give the refund, but I most assuredly won't give them a second chance when I visit Columbus.
