This may have been the worst Customer Service experience I've ever had in my actual life. Cat pissed me completely off! I requested a manager and was told one wasn't available. I ordered cheese fries deconstructed because my daughter was unsure if she'd like the chili and cheese sauce and wanted to try them separate before adding to her fries. We found a blonde hair on a fry that had been dipped in the cheese sauce but couldn't identify if it was from the fry or cheese. I brought it to the attention of Cat who took the contaminated fry from my hand and in a very snarky tone said "I guess I can throw it away" I said "I didn't bring it to your attention for you to throw it away both the fry and sauce needs replaced please" she proceeded to walk off and huff. Fries were brought back with the cheese covering them ... which is not how she took away both the fries and the cheese. I ordered the pastrami bacon burger double which was missing the onion. The pastrami bacon was the highlight to my sandwich for sure! My daughter ordered the single classic burger which she says was fine. I haven't tried the banana jam banana pudding yet but I also ordered that as well. The kitchen staff were loud, someone in the kitchen questioned me with an attitude insinuating I was attempting to get a refund when in all actuality I was asking for my receipt. I've been here many times, it's a nice burger and the price is reasonable (no sides with the burger, but I think that's nice to separate the prices like that). I'm not sure what's happened over the last year though. The customer service has been poor, and I reached a 'can't return' moment recently. There was a large sign outside that said "Happy hour deal, 10 dollars for a burger and a beer". The bill came to 15 dollars. I talked to a bartender and to explain the mistake and they said that's actually official policy, to not give the happy hour price unless you ask for it while ordering. I've never heard of that before. I said that's an unethical policy and they could not have cared less. No apologies, nothing. Now, if it's truly the businesses policy, the employees are just doing their job. They don't have to care, but it would have been nice if they pretended to sympathize. Ultimately, it's either a bizarre, rude policy, or the employees are skimming the difference. Neither option is ok with me. read more

Based on the other reviews, I was expecting something extra special. I did not get that. But I did get very hot, good and fresh food. The burger was good, very fresh bun, fresh ingredients. The fries were pretty ordinary, but crisp and hot. The standout was the biscuits that I ordered to see what they were like. The were unique and very good. They were just a little sweet. Good texture /mouth feel. I wonder if the biscuits would make a good burger bun... maybe too sweet? The place was very clean and inviting. The qr code ordering was handy, but a bit impersonal. The server was nice and did offer to take my order personally. Not sure if I'll come back on my own initiative (not close to my house). Nice little burger spot in Clintonville. When we went, it wasn't packed, so getting a table was quick. You order from a QR menu at the table, which I don't love. Food came average-fast. Get your own fountain drinks. The fries are pretty solid and you get a generous portion. The classic Preston burger is average. Not my favorite, but not "bad"...I love pickles, but I absolutely do not like their house made pickles. I'm not sure what it is - sweet pickles vs my beloved kosher dill? Take The Trip: Preston's Smash Burgers I've been reading about Preston's for quite a while now. Back when they were just a food truck, people couldn't stop talking about their smash burgers. So when I heard they had finally opened a brick-and-mortar spot, I knew it was time to take the trip and see what all the hype was about. Walking in, the place gives off a low-key vibe. The dining room is painted in a calm blue, with just a couple pieces of artwork on the walls. Nothing flashy or overdone--just an unassuming space where the food takes center stage. The menu? Simple but interesting. You don't have to flip through pages of choices, but what they do offer sounds carefully crafted. My wife went with the Mushroom Sandwich, and Preston's does it a little differently. Instead of a standard mushroom cap, they use lion's mane mushrooms, cut into pieces, battered, fried, and stacked on a brioche bun. It's topped with lemon thyme mayo, pickled red onions, and house-made pickles. On the side, she had shoestring fries--not fresh-cut, but cooked to a golden-yellow crisp. Her verdict? Short and to the point: "It was tasty." As for me, I had been waiting a long time to sink my teeth into one of their burgers. I ordered the Spicy Boi Burger ($13.00) and made it a double patty. On top of that, while they offered beers, the soda fountain was broken. That left me with only water from a dispenser. It was cool but not cold, no ice, and honestly a little underwhelming. Minus points there. So while I would love to hand Preston's a glowing 5-star review, a few small misses brought my score down. The food itself was delicious and absolutely worth the visit--but please, consider offering something to eat off of. A simple fix that would make the dining experience so much better. At the end of the day, Preston's still serves up smash burgers that live up to their reputation. If you're a burger fan, you owe it to yourself to check them out. First time dining. I had heard some reviews on Instagram, so it perked my curiosity about the SpicyBoi burger. Everyone was ranting at how it was the best burger they had ever had. So today, I went out of my way to come check it out. I ordered the Spicy Boi double and an order of fries to go. The spicy boi (sambol jam, pimento cheese, red onion, and house pickle). Before I talk about the food, let me say a little bit about the place. It was busy at lunch time. It's an average size dining room. It looked clean and simple. The vibe was kind of hard to pin down. As for the menu, it was very focused on hamburgers, hotdogs and a few sandwiches. Parking seemed ample. I didn't have any trouble finding a spot. The service was okay. Just what you expect from a burger joint. The order took awhile to be made, which was a little unexpected. Now for the review of the food. The fries were crisp and delicious. The hamburger was cooked well and juicy. But it was more sweet than spicy, which isn't exactly what I was hoping. I also found the double burger to be on the small size. I have an addition to their chicken fingers and buffalo sauce. For a while I was placing an online order weekly and have cut down to twice a month. Overall, the front of the house is friendly and want to make sure everyone is taken care of. On the odd occasion where I've waited for my food due to miscommunication between the kitchen and the front, I've been offered pudding or fries to help smooth things over. It's refreshing to see the employees are empowered to make these types of decisions. The burgers are enjoyable but as I've mentioned, the chicken fingers and buffalo sauce have won my heart (and stomach). Chicken fingers have seasoning and have honey drizzled on them. Decided to retry this place when I noticed they had a brick and mortar. Went in to place my order. It was after the lunch hour so it was about empty. I got the classic option on the menu, just one patty with all the fixings and added a side of cheese fries. I didn't wait long. Maybe 10 ish min? And they brought the order out to me even though it was takeout. The food was okay. Kinda bland despite all the sauces and cheese. Its still a pretty hefty burger though. The fries weren't overly salted which was still good but the cheese hardly added flavor. All of it seemed a bit pricey but it's reasonable for supporting local, especially in the Clintonville area. It was a bit disappointing that it didn't taste as good as last time but I had a couple beers in me back then and maybe anything just about impressed me. This might be one of my top 5 burger spots in Columbus. They have a small parking lot that's shared with other businesses in the plaza. There's both indoor and outdoor seating. When you go in the menu is on the wall but there's also some on the counter. You basically order and pay first and then they bring out your food. Very good customer service with positive energy. They had good music playing and clean bathrooms. The burger was simple but perfect. From the bun to the sauce to the seasoned patty. I have no complaints and highly recommend. read more

I was nearby. did a quick search to find the best burgers.... Yelp led me to this restaurant. It was easy to find had lots of free parking. We came in around two and it still was fairly busy. I really like the interior Head nice music had a large TV screen playing cartoons. The walls were painted with a steel blue and we're decorated nicely. The tables were modern the entire place. Had a great vibe. Ordering was pretty simple. The guy at the counter was really helpful and describing, but some of the sandwiches were like I chose a mushroom Swiss burger. My mother chose the original cheeseburger. The burgers are smashed, but they're not like super thin. They're still a great amount of meat in them. I didn't feel like I needed to have a double burger. A single was more than enough. The buns were perfect. The burgers were juicy. The toppings could've had a little more mushroom on it , but still quite good. We also got fries. The fries are thin, cut and and have a nice crisp to them without being crunchy. I ordered the cheese fries and let me tell you there's more than enough for two people in those Bottom line I really like this place. I also tried the Honey chicken sandwich which was okay, nothing fancy or stands out to me about it. The chicken should probably be brined for it to be more flavorful. After reading the reviews we decided to try Preston's for an early dinner. The dining room is basic, no frills with not much lighting - at least at night. Many of the menu items on the board were out of stock including the baked macaroni and cheese. The heat was also not working (the employee who took our order did not tell us beforehand) so we kept our winter coats on during our meal and wondered why they didn't set up a couple of heaters since it was 20 degrees outside. I ordered a Classic Double. It was juicy with thin-sliced onions, pickles, lettuce and plenty of sauce. It also had a buttery flavor. One patty was well done and the other was medium and the flavor was good just not great. My wife ordered the Chicken Sandwich and commented the flavor was unique, but very good. She didn't care for the pickled red cabbage/slaw and removed that. We also ordered fries and they were tasty but barely warm - probably due to the lack of heat. When looking for a good burger in Columbus Prestons came up almost everytime. I decided to add it to my dinner plans. When I arrived the space was smaller than expected but felt perfect. Then came the Mac and cheese which was cheesy, hot, and a good texture. The noodles weren't over cooked and it all worked. My only complaint was it lacked a little salt. Preston's delivers not just the best gluten-free tenders I've ever had--cooked in dedicated fryers, no less--but quite possibly the best chicken tenders I've had the privilege of tasting, even prior to my Celiac diagnosis. The seasoning, the crunch, the moistness of the chicken... it's all there, and for $12.99 for 8 (substantially-sized) pieces. And? My pickup has order was ready in 15 minutes on a Saturday night. I had the crispy mushroom sandwich today. This is the first time I have ever heard of a Lions Mane Mushroom. The mushroom was battered and fried with a lemon thyme mayo, red onion, house pickles, vinegar slaw for $13. I also had Fries for $3. The fries were thin and crispy. They give you a hefty portion of fries. A few of mine were a little over done but overall good. The sandwich was good. It was a very thick mushroom. It had the texture of chicken. Took out family here on Friday evening. Found this place on Yelp. The reviews didn't lie, the food was great! Didn't wait long before the food came out, hot & fresh! My husband had the mushroom Swiss burger, my son had a plain cheeseburger and I had the classic burger on GLUTEN FREE BUN! (This is huge for me, as not many restaurants have GF buns). My daughter had chicken tenders, which were excellent! While we dined we enjoyed a Halloween movie on TV and got a kick out of the staff dressed up as minions for Halloween.. First I'll say that eating Gluten Free is absolutely the easiest here - both when ordering online, and in person. It's absolutely delicious, safe, and accommodating. That said - actually EATING there is a weird experience. It's...a cheap experience. Like their plasticware. It bothers me to no end when places have really hot (it's delicious, I swear, so so good!)....fried food....and the cheapest, thinnest, crappiest plasticware. My fork was so cheap and the chicken fingers were so hot that they actually MELTED the plastic knife, deformed the fork. Get your asbestos fingers ready, everyone - you're going to have to go in without the use of utensils. I understand they came into this space (during the pandemic) from the North Market and had big plans to turn it into more. It just seems like they've never done anything more and it's been years. We were in the other night and agreed: it looks like they picked up heir North Market location (grab the drinks cooler, the water cups, bucket of plastic ware) and dumped it out near the tables. They built a bar but it looks....unfinished. It's like they got it ready to open and then didn't do much more. It's a burger joint that has fancy soap in the bathroom, but plastic forks that will melt in the food, and you have to eat it all out of a box or a paper-wrap. 3.5 stars. It was ok. It was jammed packed on a Friday evening which is usually a good sign for me because it means my food is coming out hot. My food was lukewarm. Thank goodness we finally snagged a table because if we'd taken it home it would have been frigid. It was about a 30 minute wait between ordering and getting food, which is fine. It was busy and I understand that. I don't understand that wait and cold food. ‍ Twice while we were there they paused orders so the kitchen could catch up. I got the spicy boi, husband got the classic, and my kid got the chicken tenders. We all got fries and man would they have been delicious hot. The staff was super friendly and communicative about the back up in the kitchen, and offered lots of options for the wait--like you can order and they'll bring your food to the nearby brewery, or they'll pack it up to go and you can take it or eat there if you snag a table. And the service staff were quick to clean a table as soon as it cleared. That was nice. The food was just ok for me. I'll give it another chance to blow me away. It wasn't slammed. They are using a new POS system. Pluses: we codes at the table! Scan, order, plug in your table number on the sign, and you're good. Go get your own drink, though (we asked, didn't want to grab it and then get served it) Cons: new PoS system meant hiccups! I kept my order simple - a burger and a water. My friend ordered the pastrami burger. Then he went back and made a second order for a drink - evidently the system bumped his burger order (but charged for it) - so maybe, order everything at once, or don't hesitate to check in, like we did! But when pointed out - they got that pastrami burger and fries out ASAP, and tossed in some wings for our wait, and profusely apologized, which, for us being easy-going was so appreciative. The food: I ordered the regular burger. It is solid, and tasty. I stole some fries from my friend, and they were crispy and tasty. The wings were a nice, hot, dry rub. Juicy, not over cooked. My friend said he preferred the regular burger over the pastrami, and as we both had enough to eat, packed half the fries with the remaining wings to be delivered to our other friend. Like I said, soft opening, a couple hiccups, but they wanted to make it right and went above and beyond. (Saturday, April 12, 2025) after seeing their ads on Facebook is the best burger in town, number one burger in Columbus. *And this is as someone who has eaten at the rusty bucket in Clintonville, dozens of times over 5 years and always gets the hamburger which is world class. And I love Culver's Butter Burger with Swiss, Mushrooms & Onions. I got the mushroom Swiss burger, single patty. They show two patties in all they're their ads. Are you have to buy the extra patty for but basically the meat was lukewarm. The bun was cold. They forgot to put the Swiss cheese on & it had ONE piece of mushroom. I LITERALLY TOOK THE BURGER APART, LOOKING FOR THE CHEESE AND LOOKING FOR THE MUSHROOMS. The person I was with got the regular burger with just American cheese and ketchup and couldn't even finish it. We also got the mac & cheese, which was inedible. It came in a 10 and was basically a reheatable or heated item premade. I don't know. I'm not a big fan of mac & cheese but the person I was with loves it and only took two bites. Overall, it was terrible. The whole experience made you think that the food was pre-kind of premade which just stuff was heated up and added to it . We both took an antacids we left. The lady who brought us our food was not friendly at all. The bill was $37 for two people, tax and tip and the food look nothing like the pictures and I would not go back for a free meal. read more
