Coffee in a big pretty mug. My friend & I both had the veggie omelette (mine without goat cheese). Toast, chicken sausage, and fried potatoes rounded out the meal. For sure a recommendation: but just beware of some things OVERALL: perfect breakfast food, with a slightly "soup nazi" vibe, which is ok for a diner, if you're ok with that THE GOOD: -the breakfast items have all been amazing. truly some of the best things Ive ever had. Biscuits and gravy are perfect. They seem homemade and are worth their price. -Servers are friendly, at least when interacting with customers (but see below) THE BAD -the servers are a little rough talking to each other - meaning, you hear them complaining and cursing abt customers when they hang around the fountain drink station. Makes for an awkward vibe as u pretend u dont hear it. -They cant really handle a fully booked restaurant, but thats not necessarily the servers' fault as it seems they need more cooks, but prepare to wait for more than 1hr when the place is full. Servers try their best -The lunch items can be very plain compared to the breakfast items. One example: the polish boy tasted just like a store bought kielbasa, which is fine, but not for these prices. So beware to order things like might sound "plain" because they likely will taste like it -prices are a little high for the place and speed of service. To start off I want to emphasize that I live in Cincinnati so it's already a 1 hr 45 min drive out to Fitzy's in Columbus. I called twice to verify hours because online and google it says that they are open. once I got out here though I quickly learned that they were closed due to water problems. I must have driven by a hundred times on my way to and from work and just didn't realize it was a diner. I love diners but haven't been able to find a real one. Until now. Diners are my favorite place to eat because they are owner run and generally making everything from scratch. And made to order. Fitzy's didn't disappoint. My first try was the Reuben. The sandwich was spot on and the portion was tremendous. I also liked the fries as they were crispy without being overly so. I like a good Reuben and now have a place down the street I can get one. My second was having breakfast. Fitzy's doesn't open until 8 am and I am usually at work by then, but I went during lunch. I ordered the pancakes with sausage and 2 eggs over easy. I like over-easy eggs on my pancakes and usually peanut butter in between. They haz no peanut butter at Fitzy's so I had to go without. They did have sugar-free syrup though, so it kinda makes up for it. I can't recommend the place enough. The food is good, and the people are friendly. read more

Finally on this side of town. Have wanted to try for years I just never got over here to do it. Only open from 8 to 3 so it's breakfast and lunch selections. It was a hard choice between breakfast, but I went down between the Reuben sandwich and the chili with cornbread. I was afraid that that the chili would be too soupy and I prefer thick and chunky so I went with the Reuben and instead of fries fresh fruit. My husband ordered biscuits and gravy, home fries, and eggs.Reuben was delish - not greasy or messy. Could only eat half. My husband loved his meal. Next time will definitely order the chili - it looked thick and chunky. The floor bothered us - looked dirty but could have just been seasoned. After 10 years of driving by and rolling my eyes in irritation, I decided to stop in and give Fitzy's another try. Thank goodness for second chances. I've actually been here at least three times in the last 6 months. Each visit my server was attentive and the food was equally as good. It truly is a 50s style diner with classic American dishes. Portions and prices are good. I especially enjoyed the scratch made biscuits and being able to watch the cooks do their magic. The cooks (all female) handle a morning rush with no problem! Their synchronized movements on the grill/flattop with minimal conversation is a sight to see! All my visits resulted in a very short wait time after placing my order. This is a classic hometown diner. With worn tables and chairs, the place has a lot of charm. The service was excellent and the food was good. I had the loaded omelet. It's been awhile since I've visited this diner. Its hard to find diners like this anymore from the time you walk in you get that feeling of a true little diner. The food is always good and never disappoints. Service is always friendly and courteous the decor gives it that old school diner feeling which is a plus in my book. Fitzy's Old Fashioned Diner. Hmmmmmm. Good vibes and good food... I finally checked it out this week, based on the photos and the reviews and I'm in agreement with that and what others have told me. It's the old-fashioned feel... The first thing I noticed upon entry was the yesteryear feel in terms of dining seating, decor and the kitchen. I love the pictures on the wall of the many celebrities of different eras. I think a few move movie posters would add a great touch to it. The seats were all low the ground, which I think is very important because the older and "larger" customers often have difficulty with their legs dangling from high stools (particularly those with blood flow issues - not many restaurants consider that). I love the low seats around the grilling station because it puts you at eye-level with what's going on. I like to watch people prepare my food. I had the basic 1/2 lb cheeseburger and fry combo with everything. The topping were awesome (onions, tomatoes, lettuce - all fresh and crisp) and the meat was delicious. Not overbearing with seasoning, but still juicy and tasty. The fries matched the burger in termperature timeliness, so that made them great with ketchup. I love when ketchup acts as a subtle cooling agent while the heat for the fries maintains the heat necessary for good taste. Joey, my server, was a great part of my visit. He greating me promptly, offering wonderful service, reviewed the menu and made me feel good and appreciated. He made sure that the meal was out in a timely manner and checked on my frequently to ensure that my needs were met.
