I'm in Ohio working for 14 weeks. It's hard to be excited about meals in the middle of the night so sometimes I don't eat. (Like last night) So.... I ordered the Big Breakfast through Grubhub and it was fantastic!! Everything was hot and delivered right away. The eggs were cooked perfectly which is a pretty good trick with delivery. Just excellent! Amazing pancakes! Great BLT w/ egg on side! Awesome Greek pita sandwich! All around goooooood. First time visit for us. Walked in and were warmly greeted by Mama Kate. Loved the ambiance w/ red swivel stools and booths. Warm wood colors and clean counters. Service was kind, professional, warm, and friendly. They took great care of us. We brought our 8 and 5 year old. Server brought extra napkins and catered to our needs. Service was fast and accurate to our order. Food was simply delicious! Warm food warm, and cold food cold. Columbus has it's share of great diners. And this is certainly one of them. Truthfully the food at many of these is similar. That doesn't make it delicious. What stands out here is the service and the personality of the staff and the place itself. They are super nice, funny and engaging. I got the special breakfast bowl with hashbrowns, eggs, sausage gravy and sausage. Very good but, as I said, about like every other really great diner in Columbus. Updated review: I've been coming here for years and they are consistently delicious! Some of the best hash browns I've had...crispy outside, soft inside, made on that hot flattop just the way they should be. Sometimes I crave the high end, fancy brunch spots around town that I can have a mimosa and overpriced eggs Benedict....this is not that place. I was pleasantly surprised by this diner. When we showed up, it looked like there was huge line to get in (we went during brunch) but it moved really fast. They don't have an official menu but we ordered a pancake and side of bacon and the pancake came out shaped like Mickey Mouse!! We loved it. Service was fast and friendly. Standard breakfast options and totally affordable. It was awesome to see George walking around and checking on staff and saying hello to regulars. I was blown away by the steak and eggs. I didn't expect much from an $11 ribeye - but it was soooo good. Tender, flavorful, amazing. I was totally impressed. The one thing - and why it's not 5 stars - I feel like good coffee is a necessity for a diner and I really wasn't a fan of their brew. I would totally return, but not order coffee :) read more

I like mom and pop places. This diner is that. Located in a mini.strip mall on Indianola just south of Morse Road. Sat in the window with two former high school friends. However by the time this place fills up the noise level is way too high for a normal conversation. The food is pretty typical. Breakfast was pancakes while my friends had scrambled eggs. Lots of good hot coffee and the waitress never let it get empty. Good value for the money. read more

Hear me out: I ordered french toast and french fries. Odd combination? Maybe. Mouth-wateringly delicious? Absolutely! This little diner is perfect for when you need that Sunday morning comfort food but without the effort. It was definitely a bit busy and I would say to not come if you can't bother waiting 10-15 minutes for a table, but if you have the time and the patience.. it will be worth it! Early morning brunch on this rainy Saturday. Today we discovered Beechwold Diner in Clintionville. This dive diner was charming, staff were friendly and the food delicious. I got the garbage omelet- a little bit of everything along with home fries. My husband got the biscuits and gravy, which was huge and ended up turning half into a sandwich. We had endless coffee refills as well. The place is small and there was a wait as we were leaving. They have a vast menu, but only open breakfast and lunch. Another gem! read more

Normally this is our go-to diner and usually it is good that's why this is not less stars. Came in on a Saturday at 10am and it was busy but we got a seat the counter after a few minutes. We were right by the grill so we could see the whole operation. It started with the grill cook yelling at someone working in the back kitchen which was a little unsettling. The major issue is our order was completely screwed up. The waiter wrote it down correctly, so I'm not sure how it happened. I took a few bites of my omelette and realized it didn't have cheese, so I returned it. After watching the waiters poke at it to see if there was cheese, the cook put it back on the grill and put some cheese on top and melted it. After he replated it he asked the waiter if I wanted a new one. Didn't really have a choice at that point so I took it back. It was now over cooked and pretty sad. My wife's hash browns came out at least 5 minutes after everything else and they were a really small portion compared to mine which were not extra crispy like we asked. She was waiting to eat her eggs with the hash browns, so they got cold. I think today was an off day for George's, and that's why I'm not rating them any lower. Usually it would be 4 stars. I'll go back and if it's back on track, I'll update to 4. read more

Used to love this place, haven been there since covid. Just tried to do a carry out this morning. Was told a 15 minute wait for biscuits and gravy which seemed odd since its literally just 2 biscuits and a scoop of gravy but what ever. Arrived to pick up, none of the staff are wearing masks, i was ignored by staff for about 5 minutes. I finally paid then..... they made my order. This your great groovy lil local greasy spoon sans the grease & grime. Cozy booths and counter stools, fast friendly service and tasty eats, what else do ya need,eh? My Swiss & mushroom omlette was the awesome and made to my order with grilled home fries & rye toastage one of the daily specials for $6.25. Always on the lookout for new breakfast joints and a quart low on caffeine, I spied this place off Indianola south of Morse. Add to the life threatening coffee deficiency a hankering for some hotcakes--and a 10am time--I decided to try the place out. It's there tucked between the street and the train tracks and among the warehouses and manufacturing places that is otherwise makes a desolate side of town. I really liked the place; it had character. It certainly brought to my mind old cafes my dad brought me to when I was younger; It had that 1950s art deco appeal complete with nuevo prints of Americana: Monroe, James Dean, retro Coke-a-Cola art. I sat at the bar, in front of the stainless steal backsplash walls. The food hit the spot, the coffee was life saving. I dug the pancakes cooked just right--not too dry. The bacon side was perfect. The place was clean and the staff served me well. The coffee was good--better than Bob Evans, McDonalds, and ranks up with White Castle. I will be back for sure. read more

If you are looking for a little hole-in-wall, traditional small-town kind of diner, look no further. We've been here twice now for breakfast on Sunday mornings. Packed every time with a line out the door. Luckily, they move things along pretty fast. They probably have maybe 10 tables plus seating at the counter. If you're as hungry (and grumpy) as I usually am in the mornings, grabbing a counter spot is no big deal. Plus you get to watch them make the food. First time there, I had one of their cinnamon rolls. yummm. My only "complaint" is that these are not made fresh. Fresh as in, it didn't just come out of the oven and straight onto my plate.They may have been made fresh early that morning, but they are then kept in a display at the counter and they warm them up in the microwave once ordered. Still really good though and a pretty good size! Second time, I went with the french toast. I was not expecting the extra cinnamon sugar that was sprinkled on top and was impressed with the presentation of something so simple. Delicious! Have always had good service. This has become the default breakfast go-to place on weekends for the past two months. I've gone once on a Saturday and was surprised nearly all of the kitchen staff were female as most diners seem to be male-dominated when it comes to the kitchen staff. Every Sunday I've gone in the kitchen staff has been male. It's clean. I have yet to find dust caked onto a greasy surface like some other local diners. There are hooks underneath the counters for purses and bags. There are a dozen or so booths. The tables aren't always evenly distributed but I think the owner knows some people are a little larger than others. :) There is background music but the volume of noise (people are having conversations while eating or waiting for their food) is often louder than it. The food is solid. Order your eyes over-easy or scrambled - it doesn't matter; they will get it right. One day I'll order something from the lunch portion of the menu. read more

Absolutely delicious! My dad lives out of town ans was visiting me one morning. He said he wanted a classic "bacon, eggs and toast" kind of breakfast. So I hopped on Yelp which led me to George's Beechwold Diner. It is a fairly small diner, but service is quick and food is top notch! When I think of a breakfast diner, it's exactly what George's Diner looks like. Our eggs were cooked perfectly, pancakes were fluffy, bacon crisped for perfection. A delicious breakfast for an amazing price ... you can't beat it! They do have a steady stream of regulars it seems, which I love to see! Some like to take the time while sipping their coffee and reading every page of the newspaper. My dad and I didn't have to wait, but we got the last 2 seats at the "bar" - the several people (groups of 2 or 3) that came in right after us did have to wait, but no one waited for more than 5-15 minutes. Beechwold Diner really nails the classic American Diner experience. Service is extremely fast, and the food preparation is very consistent. The diner is busiest at breakfast on the weekends. If you arrive much after 9:30 AM on a Saturday or Sunday, expect a wait, but turnover is quick, so don't be intimidated by a few people in line. If you're willing to sit at the counter you can often get in more quickly than if you're waiting for a booth. They do all the basic American breakfasts: eggs, omelettes, hash, pancakes, etc. The one stand-out dish for me is the Mediterranean omelette. It has tomatoes, spinach and feta cheese, and is great with a side of bacon or sausage. The portions are big enough to fill you up without being over-stuffed and the prices are very competitive for breakfast. They also have a great selection of hot sauces, including Tobasco, Franks, Sriracha and Tapatio. Beechwold's simple, efficient menu means fast service with minimal errors. Two full breakfasts generally arrive within 6-7 minutes of ordering and typically you'll be eating within 10 minutes of sitting down. There isn't really a parking lot at George Beechwold's, so finding a parking space can be irritating. Once inside, we had to wait about 10 minutes for a booth, as it was pretty busy and the whole place only has maybe 7 booths. There were plenty of seats available at the bar, however. The food is traditional greasy diner food... for example, the scrambled eggs with cheese is scrambled eggs with a slice of Kraft American cheese on top. Our table got over easy eggs, hashbrowns, french toast, steak and scrambled eggs, bacon and coffee. Everything was pretty good, but we all agreed it was nothing spectacular. My boyfriend did comment that his steak was "just okay" and my over easy eggs came out already broken. Everyone's plates were clean regardless and it was only around $22 for 3 people. The one thing that really sucked was the HUGE space between the booth and the table. This may be a good thing for some, but if you have back problems and experience pain without back support, then it's an issue. Sitting against the seat is a must for me, but sitting with my back against it in the place doesn't work because I wouldn't really be able to reach my plate. I know it seems silly, but I was in pain the whole time at this restaurant. I wouldn't drive out of my way to come here again, but if I was in the area and wanted a cheap and quick breakfast, I'd definitely consider this place! read more

You would easily drive past this recently revamped and reopened diner if you were not looking for it. Tucked in a quaint plaza on Indianola Ave near Morse Rd, this mom-n-pop joint has all the diner fare that draws the locals in throngs. The place has about 10 booths and a large counter that are comfy and inviting. The interior is actually quite nice and unexpected for the location/venue. The wait staff are friendly and quick. The grub is pretty good. I have only had the breakfast there. The omelet was good but seems like they left more of the stuffing on the grill instead of IN the eggs. The breads were of the Wonder bread variety. We had to return the pancake since it came a bit crispy; but version 2 was good. The coffee was not bad. I would certainly go there again, but that's also because it's pretty close to my place. I would recommend it as well if you like breakfast and diner-style sandwiches and lunches, but they close at 2:00pm everyday. Parking could be a bit testy when busy and it's right off (sometimes) crazy Indianola. All in all, this is a nice place for friends and family either for breakfast and lunch. It's a cleaner and more modern interpretation of the an American diner. This is purely a breakfast review: Omelets are the way to go! The first time I came here I waited for a booth because it was the weekend and I had a bigger group. I think I ordered a 3 egg breakfast with a side or corned beef hash. I was extremely hungover so that probably was why my experience was lackluster. It took me a couple months to return, but I'm glad I did! The garbage omelet is on point! I like my hash browns well done so I know to specify next time but overall they nail the diner experience. Great food, big portions, great staff, reasonable prices. It has been awhile since I have stopped at George's and I have to make it a point to go back more often. Locally owned and owner operated says a lot in the corporate homogonized world that we live in today. Everything here is made with love, fresh, and made to order. Located in one of the strip malls on Indianola you might not have seen it or heard about it if you don't travel this way very often or seldom venture far from America's chain restraunt style of eating. They have limiteddhours, 630-3, but they serve a lot of people a lot of really good food in a short amount of time compared to a lot of their competitors. The dining room is filled with booths and very large counters or bar. The place is not huge, but it has always been clean and is usually busy. The staff is friendly, fast, and attentive. They really do take pride in the business and their work. They know a lot of their regulars by name and they treat the ones they don't the exact same way. I got the steak and eggs breakfast. It was a great value ($10), cooked to perfection, and tasted greated. The steak was made to order, the eggs were just right, and the large portion of home fries or hash browns were browned to perfection and cooked all the way through. I have had better coffee, but have had many, many more that sucked. I have no problem recommending this place to anyone in the Clintonville, Worthington, or Linden area or anyone in Columbus. While you may have to wait for a seat, they work fast and do a great job of moving people in and out while still letting you enjoy your meal. They do offer a lunch menu as well as breakfast and everything is a pretty good value. read more

Clean, rarely a long wait, and friendly service. It's the same staff every time...and most of the same customers. Coffee is good. Cinnamon rolls are hot. I usually get either the breakfast wraps (with bacon) or the #5 (standard 2 egg breakfast). There's a clean bathroom at the end of the breakfast bar. Plenty of parking outside. My partner and I moved to Columbus in 2008 and we'd thought we'd already found every diner gem inside the 270 loop. Late Summer of '12 a friend of mine, who grew up in the Clintonville area, mentioned she comes to Beechwold every time she visits her dad. It's their thing.
