It's a small, charming and quaint coffee shop with plenty to offer like baked goods and pastries. The young lady working at the counter was friendly, accommodating and provided us with answers to our questions and explained their menu. My Martinez friend mentioned that he wasn't aware this place even existed and that his kids went to school just a couple blocks away. They've been in business for 13 years, and she actually graduated from the same school that his kids went to. I ordered an Iced Pistachio Latte (not too sweet), while my friends ordered a hot drink (regular latte, I believe) and another iced drink. And yes, one can ask to customize the sweetness level to your preference. We also got a slice of Pistachio Nutella Coffee Cake and a Strawberry Coffee Cake. They have a wonderful selection of coffee drinks, both seasonal and non-seasonal. I got to try a few of them. The major standout to me was their Jalapeño mocha. I know it sounds crazy, but whatever they do here works beautifully. Its flavor profile has both spicy and sweet chocolate to it that I've never had in a mocha before. Also, the spice level is not bad. It's just a little kick of spice! I also tried their gingerbread latte and their butterbeer latte. The butterbeer is very sweet with a strong butterscotch flavor. Once the correct drink was located, instead of a normal clarification, I was corrected with a snide attitude and visible annoyance from the staff behind the counter. I work in healthcare. I deal with stressed, confused, sick, frightened, and sometimes outright rude people every day. Clarifying questions are part of interacting with human beings. A customer politely asking about an order should not be treated like an inconvenience. What struck me most was the atmosphere of hostility and intolerance over something incredibly minor. I even noticed another customer apologizing repeatedly just for asking questions about her own order. That says a lot about the environment. Everyone makes mistakes -- customers and employees alike. Starbucks orders get mixed up sometimes everywhere. That's normal. What shouldn't be normal is visible contempt, eye-rolling, dirty looks, or making customers feel like they're burdens for speaking up politely. Some of these employees would benefit from remembering that basic customer interaction requires patience, emotional regulation, and professionalism. If a simple clarification question first thing in the morning creates that much resentment, something is off culturally at this location. People are exhausted enough already. A little basic decency goes a long way. On another day with other staff, this place can get 5 stars. I just felt something had to be said it was a little over the top.
