Avocado toast with egg and bacon
Cristina C.

This place is a great little spot to work, hang out, or just get cozy with a coffee and a notebook. The space feels welcoming and comfortable, the kind of café you can easily settle into for a while. I grabbed coffee from States Coffee but wanted something to eat, and this spot was around the clerk. The avocado toast did not disappoint. I added egg and bacon, which turned it into a full and satisfying meal. The sprouts were plentiful, and the sauce was really flavorful. One half was so filling that I saved the second half for lunch. I was originally only going to order a half since they sell the avocado toast by half or full. The cashier mentioned that the full was only three dollars more, so it was the better deal. I am really glad I took that recommendation. Overall, a solid coffee shop with good food, a cozy vibe, and a space that makes you want to stay awhile. I would definitely come back.

This place still hits. Years ago I got a sandwich. About a week or so ago I ordered that same sandwich. It's still bomb. I'm a sauce guy and I think what really does it for me is the Spicy Aioli. It's not super spicy but it does have a fun kick. There's lots of flavor that blends well with the Cheddar and Bacon. I wanna try other stuff though. I know the menu isn't the biggest because it is a coffee place at its core. I think it's a chill spot. I'm also really curious about the bar in the back. There's a decent list of cocktails that sound tasty. I really want to bring a board game soon and just hang out here for hours. To be continued for sure.

Wakin Bacon with avo

5 stars for their Wakin Bacon breakfast sandwhich & their Chai! The breakfast sandwhich is served on a panini breas with chipotle aioli and it's so toasty and delicious. Honestly one of the best bfast sandwiches around here. Their Chai- I haven't had authentic chai like this in a while. It's house made and you can tell, it's flavorful, not spicy, and warming. Also some of the best chai I've had around here. For the health conscious people - they have a berky water system, organic oat milk, hemp milk, and more. Much appreciated!

The settling was quiet and relaxing when I went Saturday. I ordered an iced vanilla chai on the left and my friend ordered a vanillA'more on the right. Both drinks had no flavor. The iced vanilla chai tasted watered down with cinnamon, I asked to add more vanilla syrup to it but it didn't do anything to the taste so not sure if it's the syrups? The VanillA'more just tasted like coffee, nothing that was written in the description which was vanilla creamy chocolate. We were both disappointed in the drinks as they both sounded very good.

Iced Honey Latte & Iced Mint Latte

Martinez, you're so charming! I recently had the opportunity to walk around the downtown area of Martinez and stopped inside Barrelista Coffee House ~ a sign that read 'coffee and cocktails'..I mean, yes and yes! Super cute and cozy interior, giving antique vibes. Extremely friendly service and help with choosing a few items from the menu for a quick pit-stop with friends. We ordered toasts, flavored iced coffees, and a matcha. Toast-wise, see pics for the Avocado Toast and Loaded Vegetarian Toast. Iced Coffee wise went with the Iced Honey Latte and the Iced Mint Latte. Super yum! The toasts are massive and well -worth the order! Aesthetically pleasing to the eye and also deliciously fresh. The Avo toast is loaded, drizzled with an aioli, hemp seeds, and chili flakes with an additional spread of cream cheese and topped with a heaping mound of sprouts. The Loaded Vegetarian comes with avocado, tomato, cucumber, cream cheese, sprouts, capers, and is piled-high potentially needing a fork/knife. If visiting Barrelista for more of their cocktail vibe, it looks like they have barrel aged cocktails and a super fun drink menu I would love to come back and cheers with a few over girl talk time. All in all, craving a toast and ice coffee as I write this. Well-done, Barrelista! Checked all the boxes for satisfying our hunger and thirst needs!

Coffee shop downtown that has a bar feel inside. Great service and place to hang out. I met up with a few people and it's a comfortable atmosphere.

Love the ambiance here!

Love the ambiance here! Great place to do your court paperwork in peace with good mood lighting, music, food/drinks, friendly staff. Clean bathrooms. Plenty of street paid parking. 2 hr meters.

Excellent customer service. Ice latte, chai and Salmon toast were delicious. Enjoyed sitting outside in perfect weather while Farmers Market was taking place. Only wish the prices weren't so expensive for this place. For 2 drinks and toast I believe our total was around $35. Will probably come back when we are back in this area. This was a popular spot for locals- singles, couples and families.

Matcha vanilla latte

Had the chance to visit this shop and work from there. I ordered a matcha vanilla latte and 1/2 salmon toast with capers and sprouts. Both were ok but nothing stood out. I did like the vibe of the inside and they played 80-90's music which suited me because I was born in the 80's. Parking using the meters was $.50 an hour on a Thursday morning.

I really liked the area and the look of the cafe itself! I got a Vanilla iced latte (limited syrups here) but it was delicious! It wasn't watered down, not too sweet, just right. There was a decent amount of seats and I liked that the main source of lighting was from the outside! It wasn't too bright for studying. I enjoyed this place, would go again! Just wish they were open till much later.

Not really a 7 dollar 15 minute sandwich

It's been awhile since I first ate here. But they have a few things on their menu (very few) and it's a nice break from the other places in town. If you don't have a lot of time at lunch...order online. I like the salmon. Served on their homemade bread, with tomato, onion, capers, and alfalfa sprout. Super tasty. But... This is why they don't get 5 stars from me; they grill the homemade bread to toast it a little bit, which turns the crust into a freakin rock. You can't cut it without a steak knife. And even then, it better not be one you bought at Target or Walmart. It'd break those!

P's Way is the only way…read more That's literally what I'd tell someone if they were confused about what kind of wings to get. You look at the description and you almost wonder if all of that is a little...too much. I'm here to tell you that it's not. It's the only way. There's just something about the zing and tang of combining both the Lemon Pepper with the Buffalo sauce that takes the flavors to a whole new level. On top of that you get a hint of sweetness with the hot honey. These are some of my favorite wings in town. Possibly actual favorite. I need to come back and have them again really soon. But just know that if you are wings fan, you gotta try P's Way. The Fish and Chips and Mac were also good. The Fish seemed a little less flavorful than I thought it was gonna be. The fries made it up for them though. I couldn't stop munching on those. The Mac was solid. Nothing out of the ordinary, but a just really good dish that was straight to the point. I just obviously was super obsessed with these wings when I went. The inside is very homey. Has a more publike vibe. I walk in and almost imagine that I'm on the water or at a pier or something. The people working here are usually very nice. The very last time I came here a guy took my order and forgot one of our items but I think he was new. Luckily this girl with a long blonde ponytail who had served us before asked us if we got everything. When we told her about our missing item she apologized a whole bunch and made everything better. Oh and of course they have amazing beers. Our favorites are the rotation of Dark Beers, Mexican Lagers and Ciders that they have. We have yet to ever have a bad pour. Im pretty sure if you like beer there should be something for everyone. Even Wine slushies if you don't care for beer. Hillside was one of me and my wife's places we would go to when we shortly lived in Martinez. Even though we are a bridge away, we can't wait to come back sometime soon.

Tall pour of Wondrous IPA was delicious, just wish the glass wasn't frozen. Remembered they were in Concord as Hillside Dogs and this is a step up. Clam Chowder.... tasty, not fishy, good consistency Spicy Chicken Sando..... not very spicy, tender chicken, tasty slaw, good bread, decent sandwich. Fries were very tasty! Fisher & Chips... bit bready, mild fishy taste, big meal for a single female, fries were superb. Overall, decent experience. Looks like easy parking - we had parked a few blocks away to visit another spot and walked over.

The folks here were very kind and polite. They were very helpful in ordering as well. I ended up getting the French dip sandwich. The price was pretty in line with what it is nowadays. (Early 2026) I thought the sandwich was tasty and well made. Again, I can't stress how kind the folks here were. One of the kids working brought me my water even though I didn't mind going up to the counter to grab it. Just a great place to grab a quick and delicious lunch. There was plenty of parking around as well

My eyes have been opened…read more I'll admit. Theres certain places in town that I just still haven't tried even after living in Benicia for as long as I have. You know how it is right? If none of the people in your circle have tried it, it sometimes makes it a hard for one to make the leap of faith. After all, everything is pricier nowadays. So making sure you are getting your money's worth is more important more than ever. I'm glad that Sprankles always makes me feel confident about my purchase when I order from them. Recently I tried their Pastrami Club and was very impressed. Lots of good flavors. If you are person who loves extra meat or their sandwiches then I think you'd love this one. I do wish the bread held up a little better. Even though I appreciate the amount of content I get on the sandwich, I think that particular should be served on a more sturdier bread. If not then the meat could probably be reduced just a smidge. Other than that no other complaints. When you pick up your food you shouldn't have any problems with parking. Theres usually plenty of parking in their lot. I'm really looking forward to trying more things here at this cozy sandwich spot.
