Love this spot! Great coffee shop with tasty drinks. Everyone there is always friendly. They have free Wi-Fi and I usually come here once a week to do some office work and it's such a nice spot to get some work done. There are two rooms with plenty of seating and even some games to play if you need a relaxing break. Unfortunately they don't have a way to heat up their pastries but they are tasty just the same.

Best coffee shop in town. They roast their own beans in house. I came by for a cup of drip coffee it was excellent. They have a lot of seating and it's a good place to hang out or meet up.

Love this place. I come to Martinez a few times a month for my nail appointment at Nova Lux Salon, vintage shopping at Faded Gold and antique shopping. Stopping by states for a yummy cappuccino or ginger matcha is a must. They have the most delicious pastries too. The banana bread is to die for. I stopped by late in the day Saturday and they had three pastries left. I got the blueberry something and it was incredible. I can't believe it was still there at 2 pm. The space is also really nice.

I'm Martinez local and have been going here for 10+ years. I usually get their lavender latte and it didn't disappoint. Came here on today on a weekday and parking meters were about $.50 an hour and took credit cards. Also, if you work remote, they have free WiFi and there is lots of space.

Update: owner was kind enough to message me about why they were closed in random days with no notice. Have been here multiple times since and they have been opened. MAJOR props on their DECAF espresso, seriously the best I've ever had. You can hardly taste the difference in flavor.

States Coffee in Martinez has a really amazing vibe thats perfect for mornings with friends or good coworking space with colleagues. The people at the cashier were really kind and helpful. They can be seeing bringing coffee directly to the customers so long as they have the number markers. I definitely would recommend this coffee shop for anyone. It's got an awesome atmosphere and great staff.

This is been my go to coffee house for many years now. The coffee and service is top tier and the location in downtown Martinez is perfect. The inside makes you feel like you are stepping back in time to when Martinez was a port town. Love the vibes and the mood. Worth a stop for sure.

First time here, the coffee shop has a large outdoor seating area as well as indoor. I tried their honey latte it was ok, but for my preference I would just keep it regular latte since I didn't really taste much difference with honey. The cashiers was friendly, and as far as pastries I wish they had some gluten free options. Over all it was good and might come back if I am in the area.

I'm so sad States in Benicia closed down :( but luckily this States is just across the bridge! I can't believe I never visited this location. I would've loved to study here when I was in college LOL. It's so beautiful, there's so much table space and room for working on your laptop or hanging with friends. There wasn't much options for pastries, but probably because I came in the later afternoon. I always get an iced vanilla or honey latte. I'm happy with how consistent they've been with their coffee!! Whenever I have work in the area, I'll be sure to get my coffee fix from here!

We went around 11 on Sunday and there's a line out the door on Sundays, but after tasting their coffee, it's worth the wait. They have a small selection of teas and coffees, but that just means they can focus more on making each drink better. They also have a glass display of pastries that sell out fast! This place is amazing for a date, or doing work, studying or just socializing with a friend. They have many seats and a separate family room area with even more seating. If you order your drink to drink there, they'll give you a stand with a number on it, and they'll bring it to you. It's also in glass, so bonus point for avoiding microplastics lol. If you buy two bags of coffee beans, you'll get a free drink! Gibraltar: their take on a cortado, smooth and creamy. Emphasis on that creamy taste that comes with a good quality espresso Cold brew: sweet with a smooth bitter aftertaste Heart and soul: they use this bean for their espresso, so I got a bag of them! After grinding them up, they really do taste of berries. (Note: you're not going to sip a cup of berry juice, it's still coffee after all, but the berry taste is very pronounced) For a quick coffee or a place to hang out with a quality drink, this is your place to be.

5 stars for the fact they regularly serve kouign amann- it's too good for words. Their service is great, as is their coffee. Cute shop and worth the stop. I try to visit when I can, especially if I am heading to/from Amtrak. Coffee will give you a good morning buzz, and nice selection of breakfast treats.

What a nice place. The staff is very nice and friendly. We had only coffee. The place was very clean. We got there too late for pastries which I heard were very good. Definitely will try this place again.

Ask the Community - States Coffee

    Is indoor siting available?

    Yes

Do they still have lavender coffee?

Do they only have one size for their drinks?

Our to go cups are 8 ounces for cappuccino and 12 ounces for drip coffee and lattes. Iced cups are 16 ounces to accomodate for the ice so that the milk ratio with espresso is 12 ounces just like our hot drinks. Thanks for asking!

What's your policy on service animals?

States is a food facility. For that reason per health code only service animals and law enforcement animals are allowed inside. Other pets are welcome on our outside patio. Thank you.

    Are there foods besides pastries?

Yes! They will have sandwiches from Farm & Flour as well as loaves of bread for sale. I believe the sandwiches go pretty fast so it can be hit or miss.

Is this place good for studying? I don't want to take up a seat for too long if this is more of a come and go type of place.

This is a great place for studying. There are 3 rooms attached to this business. The first room tends to be people just getting their drinks and families with small children. The second room is more for socializing. The third and newest room has… Read more

How much is a bag of espresso beans?

Our 1849 Blend is $12 for one half pound bag and $20 for two.

    Does States serve decaf coffee?

We can make any espresso drink using our decaf beans but not drip coffee. They are also available to purchase for home brewing.

What types of non-dairy mills are offered for espresso drinks?

They offer a delicious Oat Milk as their stand alone non dairy option. I love it personally.

    Are the macaroons vegan?

Sorry, macaroons are not vegan. Donuts are vegan. Try them you'll love them

There was a little boy having the time of his life in the ball pit, shouting, "This is the best place I've been all day! I wanna stay here forever!" And honestly? SAME. Inside makes me felt like a Time Machine. It felt nostalgic and even the menu had those old school boards where you replace the letters individually. The prices were actually pretty cheap for a donut. I honestly cannot remember, because I was walking and looking around while my dad was purchasing them. Chocolate Old Fashion: This was crispy and crunchy, which is what I expect for a old fashion style donut. The chocolate glaze was delicious and not overtly rich. And I always enjoy breaking the "rings" of my donut and they came off easily and still maintained its crunchiness. Overall, this was a delicious donut.
