Wonderful and safe place to hang out and even study. I talked to some of the patrons and they swear by States Coffee for a great place to study, sip, and focus on their academics. Thank you States, keep up the good vibes read more

The vegan chocolate doughnut keeps me coming back to States Coffee, and you would never guess the doughnut is vegan. So good. This visit I paired the doughnut with a regular drip coffee. Smooth and, for once, not acidic. I have been here many times, and the coffee stays consistent from one visit to the next. Expect a line. The line runs long every time I show up, and this trip was no exception. The wait ran longer than at most coffee shops, but the staff moves as fast as possible and keeps the line going. They got my order right on the first try, and everyone behind the counter was friendly. Treat States as a place to hang out, not a fast in-and-out stop. The space is clean, with plenty of seating and two full bathrooms. The roaster sits right in the room, and bags of their beans line the wall. Parking was easy. States works well for solo laptop time, and even better as a spot to meet friends. If you want consistently good coffee and something new to try, give States Coffee a shot. Get there early, order the chocolate doughnut, and plan to stay a while. read more

Coming back five+ years later to confirm again that States coffee is one of my all time favorite spaces in Martinez. I have had countless hangs with friends in their outside seating porch and also had more quiet moments working on my laptop in the indoor seating area. The vibes are always good and I love spending time here. I never feel rushed or like I'm intruding. The coffee, drinks, and treats? Still fire. Still love them everything I get. The staff are friendly and quick, which is always a huge bonus for coffee shops. read more

Such a cute coffee shop. It's pretty big inside, and they have what looks to be a roaster on display as well! Plus they sell beans and plenty of swag. Their selection of pastries is nice as well and we tried the chocolate babka, blueberry donut, and a seasonal pastry. All very good! I liked that donut the best. Super friendly service as well. And they have a little shop stamp! I tried the honey latte and it was really good. Nice art on the top, and the flavor was subtle. There's street parking. Tip - parking is free before 9am! read more

Cute coffee shop with plenty of indoor seating, making it a nice spot to relax, catch up with friends, or get some work done. We ordered an iced latte and an Americano. They also have a great selection of pastries, which made it hard to choose. We ended up getting the cream cheese Danish, bacon, onion & cheese croissant, and a banana nut loaf. Everything was fresh and delicious, and paired perfectly with our coffee. Overall, it was a great experience. Good coffee, tasty pastries, and a cozy atmosphere. I'd definitely come back the next time I'm in the Martinez area. read more

States Coffee - Cinnamon bun and oat milk latte - Coffee & Tea Near Me - Martinez, California

Largest States coffee shop I've been to, there's one in Oakland as well that I've gone to, which was significantly smaller but still served the same great quality espresso drinks! This States was so spacious and perhaps because it's outside of Oakland or SF, the pace feels nicer and slower, I spent a few afternoons out here with a good book and my computer and found it nice to sip on a latte or espresso drink while doing some work or reading. The atmosphere is what keeps me coming back to this States in particular, I would definitely drive the hour-ish out here on a weekend just to sit and enjoy a quality drink while enjoying the open space and natural lighting through the large industrial windows with my dog. read more

Love this spot! Great coffee shop with tasty drinks. Everyone there is always friendly. They have free Wi-Fi and I usually come here once a week to do some office work and it's such a nice spot to get some work done. There are two rooms with plenty of seating and even some games to play if you need a relaxing break. Unfortunately they don't have a way to heat up their pastries but they are tasty just the same. read more

I've been here multiple times several years ago pre-2020. It was great back then. I just revisited over the weekend after many years, and it's still solid. I used to go to their Benicia location all the time , which sadly closed a few months ago. I always get an iced honey latte with oat milk, and that drink was just as good as the first time I had it here. The space is large, modern, open. Lots of table space and seating. Service was fast and friendly. Kind of wish you didn't have to exit the building to go into their other sitting space, but I'm assuming that serves a purpose? Nice location downtown, next to a brewery. I'll be back. read more

I love States. I wish they were open longer in the day! It's my new go-to place to meet friends who live over in WC at a location that's about halfway from home for both of us. My lattes are consistently good, and the service is fast even with a crowd. The staff are polite. The ambiance in & outside is cool. I like really like it. read more

I've been here fiftyleven times. I come during the work day. I come when I'm in the area not working. Honey latte. Ginger matcha. Seasonal drinks. All of it is 10000/10. And the service is beyond that! The outdoor seating is perfect for a warm day and the larger roastery room space is large enough that when it's busy it still doesn't feel crowded. Thus place feels like home. read more

Love this place. I come to Martinez a few times a month for my nail appointment at Nova Lux Salon, vintage shopping at Faded Gold and antique shopping. Stopping by states for a yummy cappuccino or ginger matcha is a must. They have the most delicious pastries too. The banana bread is to die for. I stopped by late in the day Saturday and they had three pastries left. I got the blueberry something and it was incredible. I can't believe it was still there at 2 pm. The space is also really nice. read more

States Coffee in Martinez has a really amazing vibe thats perfect for mornings with friends or good coworking space with colleagues. The people at the cashier were really kind and helpful. We decided to stop here on the way to Sonoma and no one in our group was very impressed. The coffee is acidic, the pastry selection was meager and the staff was very unhelpful and borderline rude. It was okay coffee, but really started our day off to a unimpressive start. We were all let down given these reviews. My daughter didn't like her drink and they made us buy another. Definitely a poorly staffed and under stocked Starbucks in hipster clothing. My husband says that's actually too generous. Two stars because the coffee was okay. Miss it read more

The chocolate pastry I had was good. The hot coffees look cute but don't have much flavor. The place is full of working people, it was very busy. There wasn't any room for our big group. They also didn't have any high chairs which make it hard for babies. But good place for working adults and you can tell coffee is fresh. On the pricey side 44$ for three drinks and 2 pastries. read more

First their shop in Benica closes. And now I cross the bridge to go their shop in Martinez for them not to have any toast anymore!! Their cream cheese toast and homemade sourdough was so delicious it was the only reason I would come here. So disappointed and leaving hungry. Their coffee is so mid for it to be so expensive. I used to recommend this place to everyone for their toast but I wouldnt waste my time here anymore sadly. read more

First time here, the coffee shop has a large outdoor seating area as well as indoor. I tried their honey latte it was ok, but for my preference I would just keep it regular latte since I didn't really taste much difference with honey. The cashiers was friendly, and as far as pastries I wish they had some gluten free options. Over all it was good and might come back if I am in the area. read more

I'm so sad States in Benicia closed down :( but luckily this States is just across the bridge! I can't believe I never visited this location. I would've loved to study here when I was in college LOL. It's so beautiful, there's so much table space and room for working on your laptop or hanging with friends. There wasn't much options for pastries, but probably because I came in the later afternoon. I always get an iced vanilla or honey latte. I'm happy with how consistent they've been with their coffee!! Whenever I have work in the area, I'll be sure to get my coffee fix from here! read more

This is the best coffee spot in the Bay Area for my money. The ambiance is amazing and with good natural lighting and a lot of industrial chic designs. More importantly, the coffee is really good. The baristas are also friendly enough. I like the space a lot. I like that it is unique, for example, you have to walk out the door and go in through another door to get to the seating areas. Just an amazing spot, would recommend to anyone anywhere. read more

We went around 11 on Sunday and there's a line out the door on Sundays, but after tasting their coffee, it's worth the wait. They have a small selection of teas and coffees, but that just means they can focus more on making each drink better. They also have a glass display of pastries that sell out fast! This place is amazing for a date, or doing work, studying or just socializing with a friend. They have many seats and a separate family room area with even more seating. If you order your drink to drink there, they'll give you a stand with a number on it, and they'll bring it to you. It's also in glass, so bonus point for avoiding microplastics lol. If you buy two bags of coffee beans, you'll get a free drink! Gibraltar: their take on a cortado, smooth and creamy. Emphasis on that creamy taste that comes with a good quality espresso Cold brew: sweet with a smooth bitter aftertaste Heart and soul: they use this bean for their espresso, so I got a bag of them! After grinding them up, they really do taste of berries. (Note: you're not going to sip a cup of berry juice, it's still coffee after all, but the berry taste is very pronounced) For a quick coffee or a place to hang out with a quality drink, this is your place to be. read more

I can't believe I have not reviewed this place! It's awesome... So - it's family owned and has been in business for a few years now. I don't know how many - but more than 5, I know that much because I recall the first time we tried their coffee. They roast the beans themselves - so the perfection begins before you get your brew. The folks that run the place on the daily are wonderful, friendly, efficient, and do their best to make everyone feel welcomed. The wait on a Sunday can be long due to the farmers market. Get there early and take your coffee to go so you can wander the fantastic market and downtown area. read more

The first thing that stood out to me and my friend about States Coffee was how large their space is with plenty of tables and outlets for those coming to get work done in a cafe space. During our visit we were able to get a table to chat and knit. They have a small room where you can order your drinks and pastries so the line keeps out of the seating space while people focus. I got the cold brew here and it was probably one of the strongest and most delicious cold brews I've had in the area so far. read more

We previously visited States coffee in Benecia several years back and decided to give the Martinez location a try during our visit in October 2023. We are very glad we did! Parking was easy to find and upon entering, we were promptly greeted by the friendly staff. Our order was taken immediately. We then made our way to the seating area to wait for our order. The building is a bit eclectic and has an area partitioned off that had additional seating (family area). Very well decorated inside. I noticed the seats were sat in weren't incredibly comfortable but served their purpose well enough. I ordered a Cold Brew coffee with Everything (Cayenne) Seasoned cream cheese Toast. Wife ordered a hot Chai with Avocado Toast. We were both very satisfied with our drinks and food. Overall, this was a great experience in all aspects. Food and drinks were great and service was great. Highly recommend. read more

Next to it is the Five Suns Brewing, local mechanic shops, gyms and yoga spots, and on the street behind States restaurants and shops lining the streets of Martinez. there is parking up and down the street but be advised that they are monitored by parking meters(((ONLY CHANGE))) ***Dark Mocha is always a hit, grab it hot and with Oatmilk and youll have a beautiful start to your day.
