I was with my dad and he told me about a donut shop he goes to in Martinez. Located off of the Morello Ave exit, it is situated in a little plaza. Parking is plenty (though it can be crowded at times as well, especially going on a weekend). The wait was not too bad and the prices were pretty fair. My usual go to donut is a chocolate old fashion, but I didnt get that today and I opted for a sprinkle donut instead. The donut itself tasted delicious. It was a bit more fried then I am used to eating, but it was tasty nevertheless. It was not too sweet nor pounded with too much sugar in the frosting. It had the right amount for me at least. Overall, I had a good experience and the lady who was working the counter has been here for a very long time (I think she said over 20 years?). Another amazing small shop in Martinez! The workers are sweet, and friendly. It's clean inside and has limited seating. Parking is easy to find as it's located in a shopping center. I suggest coming early in the morning to get a fresh cup of coffee and freshly baked donuts. They have great selection! They take cash and card payments. Tap pay as well. read more

Sunrise Donuts and the lovely Laotian family that run it... do a terrific job of having donuts fluffy and light and delicious. Bad service today 930 this morning there were barely any donuts left Waited in line for 3 families ahead of us, no problem. Our turn, the young boy helped us while another woman took orders for the folks behind us to speed up the line, which was not the case while we waited. The boy went to ring us up but was cut by the woman who rang up the people behind us, leaving us to wait again at the counter. Maybe a simple mistake and this is petty but when you've waited several minutes patiently for everbody else while the folks behind you waltz in and skip ahead? I think most people would be annoyed. What is the purpose of a line at this point? I'll also add the man behind us was essentially pushing our children out of the way to hand the woman his card in the process. All of this would have been avoided had the woman prioritized the line in which it formed. The usual woman was not there today, which was a shame because service is usually great. read more

This is a small donut shop in Martinez conveniently just off the freeway on my way to work. I actually originally planned to get donuts for my coworkers at a place closer to my work but they were closed on NYE. However stumbled upon this one on yelp and they actually had better reviews. Very friendly servers and prices aren't too bad. I paid about 20 bucks for a box of a dozen mix/match (including $2 tip for being open today and not having to wait). They organized the box pretty nicely too. They have a wide variety from your regular glazed or sugar to smaller frosted/sprinkles and filled ones too. When I called to inquire about the pricing, the lady was extremely impolite. Very hit or miss whether you'll get greasy donuts or not. If they could be more consistent on the heat of the oil they'd be much better.

Let's first start by saying my mother have lived in martinez for 30 years, I grew up less than a mile from this donut shop. It's a bit nostalgic coming here as an adult to get my own kids donuts. But unfortunately I'm going to have a new spot. My first visit was at Christmas time (8:30am)- no selection of donuts. Whatever got what I could PAID WITH ATM card and moved on with my life Fast forward to this morning. Great selection- big amazing Donuts. Total was $21:25 for my 8 donuts 2 dozen donut holes and a small coffee. No complaints there. Here is where I get a bit annoyed and feel cheated. When I pulled out my card she said there would be a 75 cent charge for using it.... Umm I think spending 20+ dollars at a donuts shop should be enough to negate that charge but again, whatever. I said fine I have 100 dollar bill. Couldn't break it.. ok fine. Use the card. At this point we had a solid 3 people waiting and I personally wanted to move on. So with my math 21.25 plus .75 should put me at 22 even. Nope saw her punch in a dollar before charging my card 22.25. Listen- I'm all about supporting small biz but this is theft. You didn't disclose that you didn't take cards without charging- and you don't carry enough cash for someone to use cash. I may not be a regular but scamming people for an extra dollar is horrible. I would rather pay for priced up donuts than be stolen from. I def recommend everyone watch what they charge you. Donuts were good, but not will not be returning. Here it is, kids: the local donut shop, located in yet another shopping center. So it would be a little hard to walk here in the morning to pick up your health food. Better to stop here on your way to or from Walmart. But it's worth it. Walk in, and you're greeted with smiling people asking what you'd like to eat. In front of them is the counter with a window showing all the food that makes your doctor nervous. You can sit at one of the tables and eat, or walk out with it and eat it whenever. That's what I did. Two dollars later, I walked out with a large cinnamon roll. If it's large, with lots of cinnamon, and just the right amount of moisture, then it's a good one. Sunrise's cinnamon roll wasn't the biggest I've had, and I still prefer the one at Happy Donuts in The City. But it was still a very good cinnamon roll. I drove from there to Waterfront Park, sat on a park bench next to the strait, and had a very enjoyable breakfast. I'm not going to pit Sunrise donuts against Alhambra Deli. That's like Cyd Charisse dancing with both Fred Astaire and Gene Kelly, saying "it's like comparing apples and oranges; they're both delicious." And indeed, both donut shops are good. It just depends on which road you're on. If you got a hankerin' for donuts (I think they also have sandwiches too, but I may be wrong on that), and you're on Morello, you can't go wrong with Sunrise Donuts. read more

This place is so much better than any of the chain donut shops. Everything is fresh and as such is in limited supply - so if you don't get there early, they may be out. But here is a secret. If you buy a dozen and have leftovers the next day, 10 seconds each in the microwave and they are as good as fresh. I know this bc I did a special order of donuts for a friends gender reveal and they looked better then I could imagine. I could tell she took her time with them. Their apple fritters are the best this fat man has ever had, damn near a religious experience (especially if you can get them when they come out of the fryer) complete with singing angels and coruscating lights! The chocolate on their donuts is top notch. Try their old fashioned donuts, an amazing pastry with crunchy edges dripping with sweet yummy goodness! Donuts have never been my thing. I almost got fired from a job because I said I didn't like donuts. Luckily there's laws protecting against that. Then I met the most delicious donut I've ever had. In a tiny strip mall in Martinez California they make the best Cream Filled Donut topped with chocolate. We get there early Sunday morning and they always let us know that they made the cream fresh. It's like a decadent little cake, but better. I'll also let you know that their raspberry filled donut is quite tasty too. My son gets the chocolate with red, white and blue sprinkles. Which he then really only eats the top half with sprinkles. The coffee they serve is kind if light but does have nice flavor. They are always happy to see their customers and make for a doubly sweet morning. read more
