Rooted is hands down the best coffee shop in the area and I love coming here! My favorite order is any latte and the Oh mega donut, and my kid love, loves the "healthy" donuts too. There's no official indoor seating but we love sitting out on the covered patio. The vibes are always so pleasant. They're always coming out with new flavors, and everything we've tried has been delicious. The avocado toast is amazing, the green goddess is a favorite, and I love their chickpea salad to go too. The employees are always happy to see you and so friendly, and the other people you run into there are just as nice. They even have little toys for the kids, which is such a nice touch, especially in the weekends when the waits are longer (pro-tip: order online before going). I used to come here alll the time. Ordering online is super easy! My go to is a maple matcha latte. Creamy, flavorful and delicious. Staff is so sweet and friendly! This is one of my favorite weekend spots in the summer since it is only outside seating. Seating is shaded which is great! Parking is also pretty good on a normal day! read more

I struggled with deciding to rate this at a 4 or a 3 so I think I'm going to go with a 4 but consider this a 3.5. To start, the employee working at the cash register was super friendly and gave great suggestions on drinks and food to order based on how sweet we like things or more coffee for we may want things to be. There isn't really any indoor seating space but they did build out into the parking lot with a few picnic tables and chairs for people to stay and eat their food. While we both really enjoyed the food - both of which were recommended by the employee - the coffee was not good at all. Pro: the avocado toast that we ordered had a curried chickpea salad on top and it had a delicious flavor. That was probably my favorite bite! We also shared half order of the blueberry waffle, and it had a type of granola on top that provided some really great textures. The food certainly impressed me. Con: Both of us felt like the coffee had none of the flavor that it was supposed to have (we both ordered the cardamom maple iced latte with macadamia nut milk) and instead, it just tasted like milk. It didn't even really have a coffee forward flavor. Since this is a coffee shop that was a pretty big disappointment. Overall, we enjoyed the food and service, but would skip the coffee. read more

Stopped by for coffee near the location I was in, and I am very satisfied that they offer gluten free options for pastries and food items. Today I got a gluten free pumpkin pastry and a seasonal drink (hot Ube coconut latte). For both items I spend about $12. Small coffee shop tucked away on a residential street. Brown sugar latte, iced with oat milk was tasty. Tried the kind and nutty waffle which was wonderful. Ordered Full size since I shared with my daughter, but you can get a half. The waffle was thick, crispy on the outside and soft and warm on the inside. The fruit on top was fresh. The blueberry donut was tasty but simple. It was basically a cake donut with blueberry frosting. I thought the whole donut might have been blueberry. Cute place, love how it's very community driven, and there were a lot of people which lead me to believe it was good. I got the lemon elixir iced. I absolutely love lemon, ginger, turmeric drinks. This would be sooooo good if the water they used didn't taste like it came from a hose. The water quality used in making these drinks is so poor, it compromises the taste. I also got an oat milk latte, iced. Same situation as above - the water tastes like it came from a hose. Tastes very dirty and metallic. We got avocado toast which was great. This is a cute place and not too crowded at 10:30 AM on a Saturday. They work fast. There is also plenty of seating outside with umbrellas. The coffee was pretty pricey but they offer plenty of options. Also, very rare to find coffee shops that offer so many milk options, especially macadamia. Their snacks look yummy too, but we didn't get to try anything this time around. I ordered their maple matcha latte and it was divine. Real matcha too! The bf ordered the strawberry basil lemonade and didn't even share haha. I definitely would come back again and support this small business. Rooted Coffee has been in my bookmarks for quite some time. My visit was on a Sunday afternoon; this was probably the worst time for a sit-down. Parking was a challenge; the wait was about 20 minutes, and there was nowhere to sit. Luckily, Their tiny, mounted tables on the lot are not only adorable but perfect for a quick coffee sit-down. Pleasant Hill, while only offering outdoor seating, has heaters to keep things comfortable, and I tend to frequent this location more since it's closer to my classes. I recently took someone who is not plant-based or gluten-free to join me for a meal after one of my classes. They were a bit hesitant at first, but after trying the food, they shared how much they enjoyed and couldn't wait to go back! I was so excited to come here on a beautiful Monday afternoon and it was the place to be! So much seating outside and everyone had smiles on their faces. I've tried the matcha & pastries at the Walnut Creek location so I knew I was in for a treat already. The service was awesome and I got my order fairly quickly! My iced matcha latte with oat milk was well made (I'd like to say I'm a matcha connoisseur...hehe) & the GF chocolate chip cookie was awesome. It was nice to sit outside and bask in the sun whilst enjoying my food. Great location in Pleasant Hill. Finally had a chance to try the Pleasant Hill location with a friend this morning! I had the vanilla mint latte and make it fresh avocado toast. Latte had a nice balance of vanilla and mint. They do not skimp on the avocado and it paired nicely with the balsamic vinaigrette. Friend had green tea and the strawberry chia pudding. I tried some of her pudding, which was very good (also my first time trying chia seeds - they taste a bit like very mini boba). The barista who took my order was friendly and even complimented me on my koala shirt! Only downsides are that space is limited and they close early compared to the WC location. I actually tried to come here one afternoon with another friend and we didn't realized they closed early. I would have taken a star off for closing earlier than WC, but they let us stay outside even though we left around 1:15-1:20 pm. We will be back! read more

I ended up going to the Rooted in Walnut Creek yesterday and I got the same drink again! Overall a good coffee shop but if you're looking for a place to sit and hang out, I suggest visiting the Rooted location downtown Walnut Creek instead. read more

I will five a heads up that even the "plain, traditional" avo toast has a kick. If sensitive to spice be aware and tell them no chili flakes. Visited this spot because my friend is gluten free and she enjoys the variety of options! I got the brown sugar latte with oat milk and the espresso was somewhat bitter. I noticed they used Oatly oat milk (I prefer Califa barista milk). I think if the expresso was smoother and they changed milks the latte would be amazing! The Avocado Dream Make it Sunny toast was refreshing, lemony, and the chili flakes added a subtle kick to it. Service was great, staff are extremely friendly & efficient. I came here on rainy day to meet up with a friend to talk and didn't realize that they had NO tables on the inside. We ended up talking outside on the tables but FYI, there's no tables in there! I didn't realize that this place was a vegan place either. HOWEVER, as a non-vegan, it's fine. I got a horchata latte with oatmilk and it was quite tasty! It was expensive though. We ended up talking for a few hours and the workers came out to give us some treats that they would have to throw away anyway. I got some chia seed pudding and overnight oats and the chia pudding thing was AMAZING. I could eat an entire vat of it. 5/5 stars because the service was so nice and my horchata latte was yummy. read more
