maple matcha
Bridget K.

the iced maple matcha w oatmilk was so good! definitely my favorite matcha in the area- the matcha flavor is strong and the matcha powder is good quality. this cute coffee shop is conveniently located in pleasant hill, with a large menu and lots of seasonal drinks too. [[HIGHLIGHT]]there is a large outdoor seating area with benches, which was the only thing i was disappointed about as there is no indoor seating, and i wanted to go there and do work but no biggie.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

New fave spot during the week there's nothing I love more than amazing sourdough and peanut butter and this toast was just amazing. On top of that their teas are so delicious as well. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I love how chill and relaxing it is[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] and how great the service was every time I come by, it's always a great experience

Gluten free pastry (pumpkin muffin)
Ingrid A.

Stopped by for coffee near the location I was in, and I am very satisfied that they offer gluten free options for pastries and food items. Today I got a gluten free pumpkin pastry and a seasonal drink (hot Ube coconut latte). For both items I spend about $12. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place is small and cozy, there is seating area right outside, staff was friendly and knowledgeable.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I definitely recommend to try this coffee shop if you are in the area!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Very cute neighborhood coffee shop.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Coffee and matcha were good. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The outdoor space is big but the inside is small.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Not really enough space inside to hang out.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Small parking lot but got lucky with parking in the front. Will be visiting again when the weather is nice and if I feel like having my drinks outdoors.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Such a vibe. This shop is nestled in a neighborhood that makes it awesome for those around.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The coffee is very good and they also have a solid kitchen. Wanting to take a walk and make this your pit stop, I suggest you do! Everyone working is in great spirits and there to help you.

This is a cute place and not too crowded at 10:30 AM on a Saturday. They work fast. There is also plenty of seating outside with umbrellas. The coffee was pretty pricey but they offer plenty of options. Also, very rare to find coffee shops that offer so many milk options, especially macadamia. Their snacks look yummy too, but we didn't get to try anything this time around. I ordered their maple matcha latte and it was divine. Real matcha too! The bf ordered the strawberry basil lemonade and didn't even share haha. I definitely would come back again and support this small business. On a nice day, it's a great spot to hang out with friends and not too loud.

Matcha lavender latte with oat milk.

Rooted Coffee has been in my bookmarks for quite some time. My visit was on a Sunday afternoon; this was probably the worst time for a sit-down. Parking was a challenge; the wait was about 20 minutes, and there was nowhere to sit. Luckily, Their tiny, mounted tables on the lot are not only adorable but perfect for a quick coffee sit-down. The Lavender Matcha Latte with oat milk did not disappoint! The beautiful presentation and taste made it worth the wait. The atmosphere was chill with good music vibes, and the staff were friendly. Pros: -Matcha lavender latte -Good for small groups -Food options *I have yet to try -Cute mini tables Cons: -Busy location -Limited seating -Limited parking Dear Rooted Coffee, I'll be back to try your raving avocado toast. dos vientecinco dos mil viente cuatro

Avocado dream toast and avocado dream *make it sunny*

These avocado toasts were delicious!! definitely recommend if your a fan of avocado toast. Staff was nice and welcoming. will be coming back.

Ask the Community - Rooted Coffee

Are they open during "shelter in place"?

Their website has been updated today! They're opening up on Tuesday March 24th for online orders and curbside pick up - 9am to 1pm. I'm so excited because I've completely run out of their coffee beans.

What do you have that's vegan?

Hi! Our entire menu is vegan :)

Are there gluten free items on the menu?

Yes they have gluten free options

What brand of cashew cream cheese does rooted use?

We make our own cashew cream cheese!

Do any of the "milks" contain Guar Gums?

Hi Kayla! One of the creamers that we use, Ripple, does list Guar Gum as an ingredient. We have a variety to choose from!

The hygiene alone should be enough to make anyone turn around and walk out. The employee working the front repeatedly coughed into his hands, rubbed his nose, sneezed, then immediately went back to handling customers' utensils, napkins, and food-related items without washing or sanitizing his hands. It happened over and over again. It was honestly disgusting to watch. Basic food safety should never be optional. Then came the bill. Three items. One tiny crepe, one madeleine, and one quiche. Nearly $50. I actually thought there had been a mistake. The crepe was embarrassingly small, and the chicken inside was some of the worst I've had. It was dry, stringy, chewy, and tasted incredibly cheap. There was absolutely nothing fresh or high quality about it. The portions were tiny, the quality was poor, and the prices were completely disconnected from reality. My husband was born and raised in France, and we've spent plenty of time eating at cafés and bakeries there. This isn't even remotely comparable. It's an overpriced imitation that relies on the idea of being French instead of delivering food that's actually worth eating. If you're going to charge premium prices, then deliver premium quality, proper food safety, and an experience that justifies it. This place failed on every one of those fronts. We won't be back, and I genuinely can't understand why this place has the reputation it does.

Lafayette is such a gem of a place. While in the area, we stopped at this local spot on a beautiful…read more(and hot) day. We opted to not sit outside, rather inside right by the exterior seating to still get the vibes but also some AC. I love places like Lafayette where all the businesses support each other and help each other grow. Their brews on tap are mostly all local, and we grabbed some Pilsners sourced from Lafayette's new brewery, Western Flyer. So fresh and crisp. Can't wait to also check that spot out. Food-wise, we came in mid-afternoon and grabbed a Kale Pancetta salad (they pre-split the salad for us on two plates which was so nice), and for the mains, we both grabbed the Tuna Melt with fries. The salad was delicious. I'm def a tuna melt girly, and I loved the addition of the ciabatta (?) as the bread option, so fresh as well. This tuna melt comes with grapes fyi, and a few other elements mixed in. I absolutely loved it, just sharing though as I know how some tuna stans like their tuna :) This spot is clean, spacious, and perfectly situated in walking distance downtown. Would love to come back for brunch with a group of friends, or even again during the upcoming Lafayette Art & Wine Fest. Food is good, service is quick and friendly, and vibes are right. Metered parking located across the street.

If you blink, you might miss it. Service is still 10/10! This time around, I ordered a hot matcha latte, and honestly, I wasn't expecting much (let's be real, some places can mess up matcha). But surprise, surprise -- it actually tasted like real matcha! It was delicious! For my meal, I tried the cowboy scramble, which I swear was everything but the kitchen sink tossed in a pan. It was hearty, satisfying, and totally hit the spot. The only hiccup? The melted butter they used on the toast had a weird aftertaste. I can't quite explain it -- like if butter went to a weird party and came back a little off. But hey, it didn't ruin the whole meal, just a little side note. All in all, I'm into the new look, and I'll definitely be back for that legit matcha latte and hefty scramble!

For being a place right in front of moving traffic very clean. Now when you want in you are greeted by a server and asked how many in your party and then asks you to sit where ever you want.
