I ordered the cook's special skillet and my fiancé ordered the infierno omelette with country potatoes and sourdough. Our food came out in less than 10 minutes. It wasn't busy in the restaurant today on Easter. It was quiet in the restaurant when we were eating. I give a rating of 4/5 because on the menu, it says mushrooms are in the cook's special skillet but my meal didn't have any mushrooms in it. I would recommend this restaurant to others.
Popped in on a chilly Sunday afternoon for brunch. All the staff members we interacted with were very friendly. Every table was filled inside so they offered to turn the heater on outside for us which was appreciated! Shortly after we were able to sit inside. The portions are very generous. A friend and I shared the country omelette plate and a short stack. Food was great! I really enjoyed the omelette, it was loaded inside, and the gravy tasted great. I also enjoyed it with the hot sauce provided on the table (The Pepper Plant brand). I hadn't seen this one before but it was super tasty! They also had other condiments and sauces available. The pancakes were big and fluffy. The wait for the food took a little bit but it was a very busy time and the food came out hot. We had a really enjoyable experience here and would recommend!
I went to Sal's Family Kitchen for brunch and had a the Concha French Toast. It was a large portion and tasty, especially if you like it on the sweet side. I enjoy the outdoor seating and was quieter than being inside. Service was great and you can tell that this was a family run restaurant. Prices are moderate but I enjoy patronizing neighborhood restaurants. Parking is available on the street and neighborhood feels safe.
Was headed to Martinez to my usual spot Dutch Bros and placed a to go order at Sal's Family Kitchen off of Main St in Martinez. It's a nice spot has seating outside in a nice day, pretty good seating inside as well. When I got my takeout easy to find in front with the cashier. The staff very friendly and handed me my food. A nice little spot for breakfast or/and lunch. I believe they close at 2 or 2:30p. When I got home my food was made how I ordered and it was delicious. There are two spots in Martinez that I will get takeout and one will be Sal's Family Kitchen.
We haven't been here for a few years and stopped by after the Farmer's Market and omg why do we live so far away??!!!! So good! Fries are so crunchy and flavorful. Country platter had the best gravy without being too salty. The bacon in the BLT so smoky and yummy. The combo burrito was savory and delicious. And strawberry lemonade exploded with strawberry flavors. Still the best brunch place ever!!
The pecan waffle was outstanding! The customers were annoying though -- at least 3 tables had children playing their tablets at top volume. I think the restaurant needs to have a policy about this, and needs to enforce it. It really diminishes the enjoyment.
Great food and service. Friendly cozy atmosphere . Quality is really good second time here and we are not disappointed at all would definitely come back again
Downtown Martinez is cozy and adorable. We were in town for a fencing tournament down the street. Needed to get some lunch in before the tournament. Picked this place as it was a nice day and they had a patio outdoor. Food was decent. Typical breakfast fare. Service was attentive. The taste was just a bit underwhelming.
We came here on a Saturday around 11:30pm. There is a street parking and meters are free on the weekend. Can be a little tough to find parking depending what time you arrive. We were asked if we'd like to be seated inside or outside, we said inside since it was getting warm. Service was fast and friendly. The country fried steak was delicious. It has made the list to one of my favorite places to go for this item. One thing I didn't like tho was that my hash browns were underneath the country fried steak and got covered in the gravy and became soggy. I would've liked a bigger plate to have everything sitting separately. But it wasn't too big of a deal. The bonanza is a good choice if you're debating between getting a waffle or French toast. Everything was delicious and id definitely come back again!
This review is purely for American style kitchen it is. Had a pleasant experience in everything. Fair warning, - the entries are giant, so while making an order, please make sure you'll be able to handle it. Got myself a half a combo with hashbrowns, which turned out to be a little bit greasy, however, very tasty and is done right on the spot spice level, and baked. Please might need a little bit of a tuneup interior wise however, again for the atmosphere, it provides - it has its own vibe. Thank you, ladies, for quality service and delicious food. We'll see you next time.
Today I went here for lunch. It was my first time. It's a restaurant with lots of seating inside, I guess you could call it a diner. I got the waffle with eggs and bacon. Very good. I was impressed. I got a glass of water and it was very large with ice. They had two unisex restrooms. Friendly staff. The regular customers here that staff knew by name were a bunch of characters. One of the staff member's daughter was inside and she was having a lot of fun playing around. Cool place. I'll be back. Generous portions.

Umm... Please go here and support this business! Came here on a Monday morning and it wasn't crowded at all. I was seated right away and they came to take my order and make recommendations quickly. It wasn't long before you could smell the food coming to your table. The food was presented nicely and you can smell everything on your plate. The sweetness of the waffles and french toast, the flavoring from the chorizo. You eat with your nose here first! The food was fudging delicious! So good, and I am not a person to usually finish breakfast when I go out to eat! I ate everything and pretty much licked my plate clean! Everything was cooked to perfection and the staff was extremely nice on top of that!! They are amazing! So good and so delicious. Check them out if you are in the area! This is also a great place for families, they have coloring pages and crayons for the young ones! read more

Heard about this place on the Gram! First time visiting and it did not disappoint! The only potential downside was finding parking. We lucked out and found good parking, but I can see if it's busy downtown-parking will be challenging. Downtown Martinez sure has changed and looks good! We sat in a booth in the corner with a ripped leather bench, but I believe that is due to the many patrons this place has-great wear & tear. Seating & dining is adequate; a homey feel. The staff acknowledged us when we first got there. We went Thursday afternoon and while it was not packed, there were a lot of people in and out of the restaurant. There were also regulars there. The ambience was good! There were many options on the menu to choose from. Portions were good and hearty. Service was fast! The food was delicious and very filling! We ordered funnel cake fries to go! Couldn't pass that up! This is a wonderful brunch spot! We definitely will be back again! read more

Food: 5/5. This is EXACTLY what breakfast food should taste like. We tried a few different things, including the ham and cheddar wake-up, kids waffles, and California Benedict. Everything was so delicious! Atmosphere: 5/5. This is such a cozy restaurant and located in the heart of Martinez. Parking was also easy to find on a weekday. Service: 5/5. The staff were so friendly and great! Our food came quickly. Great service! Kid friendly: 5/5. Highchairs are available, there's a kids menu and there are coloring pages on the walls. Great family restaurant. I have a feeling this is going to be our new go to breakfast restaurant. I can't wait to go back! read more

Country Scramble with an order of short stack (2 pancakes) . 3.5/5 Breakfast burrito 4/5 Solid portions for the price point. Service wasn't all there and took time to flag down a waiter even when it wasn't busy. Also they couldn't remember the bill for our order and there wasn't a way for us to fact check the pricing so when we went through it after paying, we were overcharged by a little bit. I will say that the food is very fresh and portion sizes are nice. We liked the crisp on the country potatoes a lot but didn't enjoy how soggy the breakfast burrito was with the salsa on top when it came straight to us. I think this place will warrant me coming back again to try it out with either the same items we got, or with different recommendations and hope for a better result. read more

The food was good and great portions, the only issue it took a long time from some one to take our order. There was a soccer tournament in town so was busy. Then took extra long to get our food. Other than that downtown area and nice atmosphere read more

Came across this place while walking around town. Went in for lunch, nice open dining area with nice décor & service was good! Great menu & prices were reasonable. I ordered Philly cheesesteak sandwich with fries and my husband ordered a burger with sweet potato fries. Everything came out hot and had great flavor. We will definitely return again. read more

We found this place on yelp and decided to give it a try. It's a small diner in down town Martinez. Do you will only get street parking . The place is small from the outside do hard to miss. When you walk in you can sit anywhere. It's nice and open area. The service is really good and fast here. I decided to go with the French toast. My husbands got a waffle that had bacon inside, eggs, and ham. He got orange juice and it was a really good size. The food was good flow was fast and customer service good. This place is way better then a chain restaurant. I would definitely return. read more

Service was quick. Not too busy. The bacon pecan waffle was recommended to me and boy it did not disappoint. I felt like it was missing something, but still very good. Ambience was what it needed to be. There is also outdoor seating. It was a bit difficult to find. Not badly priced if I may add. Keep in mind you have to pay for parking but it is only 50 cents for 30 minutes. read more

Was looking for waffles in the area when I came across this place. When I saw Bacon waffle on the menu I knew I had to try it. It was basic but so good! Other items looked good as well. Will have to go back to try the other options. staff was friendly and place looked busy. read more

A great neighbor place to gather and enjoy breakfast. Ordered corn beef hash, coffee and toast. Delicious very satisfied. Would return!! Pls visit this place and enjoy. This place isn't fancy but a very nice family restaurant. read more
Came across this hidden breakfast spot after my eventful walk through Martinez's Farmers Market. We didn't know if we should order at the counter or find our own seats. Servers saw us and was not welcoming at all. I decided to walk up to the counter and ask if we should order with them or sit first. Girl, told us to find a seat. Sat down for a good 7 minutes before someone gave us a menu. At this point I started to write this review because service was super slow... mind you, there were not that many people to serve. After 8 minutes a waitress finally came up to us to get our order. We ordered White egg omelet, breakfast burrito with extra salsa on the side and a strawberry wafflLet the waiting begin for our food.. we received our food after waiting for 15 min Pro: coffee was offered multiple times Other than that. Got all day? Good! Cause they're for sure in no hurry at this place. I had read the reviews and decided to give it a try. People are spot on when they say service is slow. There were about 4 servers and maybe 10 tables....yet you feel forgotten about and not very welcome. The food was ok...burnt toast, canned gravy, and very little filling in the omelettes. The "shredded beef "on the enchilada omelette was a cut up piece of deli roast beef, and seriously like one slice. I'm so disappointed, we had high hopes looking at the menu.... read more
