I'll start with this... the sandwich was decent. Not spectacular, but not bad. They have you order on a large tablet like screen. I attempted to make a revision in the notes and it didn't get sent through. Admittedly it could be user error but both my husband and I watched me submit it. We then waiting for about 25 minutes for the sandwiches. About 15 minutes in I went to inquire about it and they sorted through a stack of a few receipts before telling me they were going to start them now. When I got my sandwich, it was missing the revision I had made so I went to ask if they could correct. They then argued it wasn't in the notes and got irritated when I asked if they could still fix it. I said I would pay the difference if that was the challenge. They ended up making the change but by then it had been about 35-40 minutes after I ordered the sandwich. Overall, I feel like the experience could have had a lot of improvement. Happy to see a small business in this cute downtown but hoping they improve their processes a bit. read more

I ordered a Classic sandwich = homemade roasted turkey, lettuce, tomato, mayo WAS suppose to have Swiss cheese, but they were out, they did offer pepper jack cheese, no thank you. Overall the sandwich lacked flavor, almost flavorless. I can appreciate the homemade roasted turkey, but once on the bread it needs seasoning, salt, pepper, how about cranberry sauce of sorts. I'm so happy this sandwich spot is in Martinez. They use real meat, not deli meat. I'm a turkey sandwich kind of gal and the first time I had a sandwich from here I was shockingly impressed with the meat. And it was good! I've had the Zula's, Kristine's, and Avo I Am sandwiches. All great. The sandwiches are thicck and taste like fresh produce is always used. The guys working there are so sweet. One day I ordered ahead and it was going to take a while. So I went there for the first time I work one minute away. I got an avocado chicken sandwich and some like fresh squeezed juiced they had behind the counter. I went back to the office the sandwich was ok, and then I was going to open the drink I saw a huge piece of mold. I honestly wasn't too upset because I did have an understanding that it was made with real ingredients but still it turnt my stomach. I went to let them know and they refunded the 10.50 drink. I feel like they could have shown more of a better customer service but it was just like an "oh well" moment. Headed out to downtown in a day off on a walk with the dogs. Remembered that new sandwich place just opened up in market and main. If you come in from the back patio area and walk past the bar inside, it's right to your left. If your party is sitting outside they have actual menus. There are about 10-12 different sandwiches, Including pb&j! We got the turkey, bacon, and ham and the other was a Rueben sandwich. The time from order to when it came out seemed a bit long. But once it came out, it truly looked like they made it with love. On the Reuben there was an interesting dressing. It was on the sweeter side and there was a lot of it... made the sandwich a bit soggy. The other sandwich looked delicious and came with actual turkey, not processed. The bread was soft but there was a bit too much of that iceberg... not my favorite.. hopefully maybe they will switch to Romain. The prices range around 14.99 to 15.99 per sandwhich but it's definitely worth that price. This place is a great added feature to Market and Main. I was looking forward to trying Zula's Sandwiches, but unfortunately my first experience was very disappointing. I ordered the Angela sandwich, which is supposed to come with ham, but mine arrived without it. The turkey that was on the sandwich was bland and underwhelming. On top of that, the Doritos I specifically requested were missing from my order. I tried calling the restaurant to have my order corrected, but the phone number is disconnected, making it impossible to reach anyone. Mistakes happen, but customers should at least have a way to contact the business to resolve them. Overall, between the incorrect order, disappointing quality, and no way to contact the restaurant, this was a frustrating experience and not one I'd recommend. read more

I love tuna sandwiches and my wife loves Ruben's. Call it a "mixed marriage." We drove the short ride to Martinez, got a convenient parking spot and headed for Zula's. We had seen it in social media. Everything was top rate. They have a good selection of sandwiches, breads and condiments. The sandwiches are prepared by a very conscientious staff and tasted great. The place is cute and clean with quite a few tables. We are in our 80s and have had a lot of sandwiches in our day. It's worth a few minutes of driving to get this quality food and service. This is truly a family affair; dad helps prep in the kitchen, and mom helps with the front of house when it's busy. The sandwich menu is much more extensive than I realized. How many spots have three different kinds of rye bread? I tried the homemade chicken salad on sliced sourdough and the potato salad. Both were delicious! I'm eager to try more of their sandwiches.
