Another solid spot in Martinez. I came here to lunch with my wifey and we definitely had a good experience. Service was great. It was very slow the day we went so that helped. I went and ordered the Crab Melt that seems popular and it didn't disappoint. I really enjoyed the amount of crab they out in the sandwich along with the perfectly toasted bread. It was a beautiful day to be in Martinez by the way I had never been here. I am a Check Please Bay Area fanatic and have been so for years. I found out about this place at least 3 or 4 years ago. I happened to be in the Benecia area and took this opportunity to go over to the next town and check this restaurant out. I guess it just started opening again on Sundays so we were lucky. I started with crab caprese or something like that it came on a small toasted piece of bread...there were 4 of those it was tasty. I had the opportunity to try the clam chowder. I was with a native Bostonian which deemed it legit even had more to go, it had something to do with clam juice. I had the marinated flat iron steak, medium rare cooked to my liking...so tender. It was accompanied by scalloped potatoes and spinach and mushroom combination. It all worked well together. The weather was just perfect to dine outside maybe mid to high 70's. I would recommend stopping in. I believe they have live music Friday's and Saturdays. read more

What a disappointment! Have eaten there many times, but now under new ownership. The waitress got two out of the four orders incorrect. A salmon salad was served instead of a Caesar salad for an appetizer then the salmon dinner. The salmon was very dry and the salad it was on was not a Caesar salad. One of us had the flank steak it was chewy. The owner was there and was not accommodating at all and had an attitude! The entertainment was good, we enjoyed it. They has an uptempo jazz / standards trio playing live music and they were very good. My wife has a special of the day salad and I had the very good, very large pork chop. I had dinner here on a Friday night with my dad and boyfriend. We shared an order of burrata that was so good! I had the grilled salmon, my boyfriend had the crab sandwich, and my dad had the garlic meatballs. The food was good and well seasoned. The only thing I'd mention is that the meatballs had way too much garlic (I never thought I'd be writing that in a review because I love garlic). It was so potent and we couldn't really taste anything else. They had live music which was amazing, but we were seated right next to it, making it difficult to hear each other speak. And one of the best crab melt sandwiches with choice of a fresh house salad or tater tots. Attentive staff. We never felt rushed and were treated well. Food was really good. Highly recommend the Gimelli pasta and add salmon to it. Amazing dish, I was thoroughly impressed. Also got the Annie's grilled chicken sandwich with tater tots. Tots could've use a little more crisp, sandwich was pretty good. Asked for a side of their home-made pickled jalapeños, really good. The Arnold Palmer was great, they have a homemade lemonade that really steps it up. To finish it off, the s'more dish was excellent. Table setups are a bit tight, we basically shared a 4 person table with another couple. Recommend a reservation to get a better table. The live music was a nice touch on Saturday night. April 5 2025 We went out for a family lunch gathering and had a very nice time at Roxx today. The service by Cheyenne was top knotch. She is top of the line. Now you might want to bring your rich uncle Octopus in hopes of him picking up the tab. You can easily spend an arm and a leg here. Three of us spent $139 on two beers and a coke, two sandwiches and a bowl of chowder and a plate of antiposto. That includes the large party forced gratuity. Luckily my grown kids footed :+) their own bill. Everyone enjoyed their meal and the ambiance. Great for a get-together. The negatives. 1) An unruly child running around. 2) A worker noisily stacking or restacking some type of metal objects against the wall behind my head. 3) Two of my adult children complained that the joint closes too early on weekdays for the drive from San Pablo and Hercules respectively. Loved this place! It was hopping on a Saturday night. Reservations are recommended. This is really a cute and easy place to eat. Downtown Martinez is cute, fun and hopping, but parking was easy. The service was so friendly and enthusiastic, for a reason! The food was great we will be back for sure! The meatballs with polenta was the order envy entry of the night. Numerous meatballs covered with cheese and a red sauce over pieces of polenta. The flank steak with potatoes and veggies was great! The steak was cooked to perfection, with a great sauce and somewhat scalloped potatoes that were really tasty. Personal preference, I think kale should still be a garnish, but it was cooked well. We came to this restaurant chasing amazing experiences based on PBS Check Please Bay Area. The food was yummy but the experience could've been better. They are opened earlier and the staff is not the usual staff so we had a young man that did his best but what forgot one of the main courses, making it a bit awkward. After years of passing by and wanting to go in, I finally had the chance to have dinner at Roxx! Claudia was our incredible server that was very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed during our time there. I got the marinated skirt steak that comes with au au gratin potatoes, garlic mushrooms and greens. The best part was that it came with an amazing Demi glaze that totally took the meal to the next level. For dessert, I had the Ukraine cream with raspberry sauce and it was genuinely difficult to put my fork down when I inevitably got full. The steak was cooked perfectly and the potatoes added the extra side that brought it all together. Highly recommend this restaurant for romantic date nights or girls night! Went to get dinner with family and friends after the new owners had taken over. The food was delicious and the staff so gentle and aware. The owner's really nice and he genuinely needs your honest opinion about the transition. I really hope this restaurant is successful in Martinez because this is my favorite. A friend brought us here for dinner and it was very good. Reservations are recommended since it's a small restaurant. We had the flatiron steak which was perfectly cooked with delicious mashed potatoes. The cocktails were delicious and our friend enjoyed his first Singapore Sling. Te crème brûlée was excellent. I went to Roxx on Main because it was recommend to me. I almost ended up without a table. Evidently they are very popular on weekends because of their live music. I went on the early side hoping to avoid that. No luck. Fortunately for me, someone was just leaving. I had already looked at the menu on line, so I had a good idea of what I wanted. I landed on the crab and chipotle quesadilla. It was ok. The potion was good.and the crab was good. But the house cheese that was in it overpowered the delicate crab flavor. It might as well just been cheese. I paired it with a Contrary Mary, the house version of a Bloody Mary. It tasted just like cocktail sauce. I was actually ok with that because it paired nicely with the crab. The soup of the day was clam chowder. A cup of that with the crab melt might have just been perfect, but I didn't have the appetite for it. Maybe another time. So the music. Pleasant, but not my thing. I wouldn't go out of my way for it. It's a lovely weekend night spot for dining. I have only been here once and within the first few minutes, I knew that this was a local favorite. I could tell by the lovely jazz music, the relationship that the staff had with the diners, and how comfortable everyone was. I went with three other people and we all got different dishes. I kind of wish we didn't share, so that I'd have been able to take some home, but I guess that just means I need to come back ‍ I was so excited to find out that the crab melt came with tots, they're just the elite form of fried potato. The margarita was a little strong, but was pretty good, and gave me a good buzz. The focaccia and olive oil balsamic was an awesome starter. Our server was very upbeat and kind, we loved her! The only not so great thing was that the booth seating was kind of low, and uncomfortable for my 5'3" self to sit at. But I chose to sit there, and was too embarrassed to ask to move to a table, so that's on me! Stopped by on a lazy Saturday afternoon looking to enjoy the good weather with my dog. Got a table outside and ordered their seasonal house salad. I was initially worried about the $18 price tags but it was WORTH IT. The salad was well dressed, refreshing and SO delicious. I inhaled the half of it before I remembered that I probably should've taken a picture first. The wait staff were kind enough to bring my dog a clean dog bowl of fresh water while I ate (without me having to ask). The little bread plate with dipping oil was nice too. The balsamic vinegar tasted lovely, like the kind you get from the farmers market infused with fruits. I read so much about this place that I finally got to try it with my daughter. We went on a Tuesday for lunch as she didn't have school. We sat right away. But the server seemed to have either forgotten about us or had preconceived notions about us as we were about 15-20 years younger than everyone else in the establishment. One other group that arrived 15 minutes after us got their order taken before she came to us. We ordered a steak sandwich and their Mac and cheese. The sandwich was good but the Mac and cheese was cold. Our server didn't even come by to ask how our food was so I had to flag her down to ask to reheat the Mac and cheese. We also ordered the chocolate mousse cake. It was pretty dry and smothered in whipped cream my guess to moisten the dry cake and hardened mousse. Got here at 7:30pm to order a salad to go but was turned away because the kitchen already shut everything down even though they close at 8pm. Kind of annoying. To the restaurant: if the kitchen closes at 7:30, you should advertise your hours as 11am - 7:30pm - not 11am - 8pm. It was really frustrating to get turned away especially while being hungry after working a 10 hour shift. To future diners: If you plan to go here for dinner - you should probably be there before 7pm. If you work late like me, I guess it's too bad. Try somewhere else. :-( read more

The servers are always so friendly and helpful with questions about the food. They have great entertainment at dinner. I've only enjoyed when music was inside but I'm sure the fun is outside as well. Roxx on Main was featured on Check Please Bay Area and it looked amazing, so I knew we had to check it out. We came with my parents for a combination early Mother's Day dinner and birthday celebration and the food and drinks didn't disappoint! We arrived a bit before 5pm and were immediately greeted by the friendly staff and seated without a reservation. The restaurant itself is warm and decorated with great art and a giant neon clock. We each got cocktails which were delicious - I recommend the Lumiere if you like sweet drinks, and my stepdad and husband loved the Contrary Mary. The focaccia they give you when you sit down is also amazing - we had to stop ourselves from demolishing the entire plate of bread before we ordered food! As for food: Black and Blue salad - 10/10! Super fresh greens and a tasty vinaigrette. I got the steak medium rare which was perfect. They didn't skimp on the steak either which I appreciated. The "blue" in the name refers to blue cheese which I opted out of, but if you're into that I'm sure it's tasty! Crab melt - 1000/10! My stepdad and husband both got the daily special crab melt on sourdough and both of them could not stop raving about how good it was. My stepdad is a crab connoisseur so when he said it was one of the best he's ever had, I knew it was legit. I was allowed to have one bite and it was really really good. Chicken with pilaf - 8/10. My mom got the chicken entree and she said the chicken and vegetables were great, but there weren't a whole lot of pilaf or beans on the plate. Overall this place is definitely worth a stop in you're in Downtown Martinez. They have live music on the weekends, so we'll definitely be back to see what that's like! read more

Went yesterday during the wine stroll. Every single thing was great about this place! Ambiance was cozy, cute decor! Music was played at a nice level where you could still have a conversation. I had the grilled cheese. It had mushrooms and I added bacon minus tomatoes. The bread was amazing with a tasty cheese skirt. I chose the salad, it was so fresh with a nice light vinaigrette. So yummy!! We also got the Mac and cheese to share and it was the best I have ever had! Decadent!! The star of the show was the server! I feel awful for not knowing her name! We spilled our water 1st then and she quickly cleaned it up with no fuss and there was an issue with my drink and she handled it so nicely with no shame! Hold on to this lady!! I had the crab melt special, which came with salad or tater tots. Tater tots were really good, crunchy but not oily. I was slightly disappointed with the crab melt, as it wasn't very melt-y (no oozy cheese). My friend got the tuna melt and she loved that and the side salad. Her melt had a nice melty layer of cheese. Service was good but I was never offered a refill on my iced tea.
