Well! Bella Siena is a jewel! Perfect location (right in the water), windows everywhere, so there's hardly a bad seat in the house, great food, great drinks, and even better service! We went yesterday for my husband's birthday. I made a reservation on Open Table and called to request a window seat. We arrive and were greeted warmly, and taken to our window table. Yusuf was our server, and he is so much more than a server. He is family. He made superb recommendations, and every drink, entree and dessert he recommended was mouthwatering! We had the Misto salad, mushroom soup (soup of the day), saffron pappardelle, chicken Parmesan, and mushroom ravioli (we took plenty home!). The house-made noodles and sauces were delectable! We also ordered the apple crumb for dessert made the Yusuf way, AND Yusuf brought us a raspberry basil sorbet with candle and sang happy birthday with me to my husband. We've been to Bella Siena a few times in Benicia on 1st Street, but most recently we were celebrating a family birthday and traveled to this charming town for a special meal on the water. The restaurant has grown ~ there's an outside space, large interior space, and they just added an additional room on the side of the building that is dedicated to large groups/parties. We called and made reservations ahead, and were seated in their new and spacious room along with other special birthday occasions. The service in this room was excellent, and we had such a nice evening. The sun was setting on arrival, so we shared some nice photos and a round of drinks before ordering apps/dinner. Their cocktail menu is really nice and seasonal drinks too. Special shoutout to their Pineapple Martini and fresh puréed seasonal fruit margaritas. We started with the sautéed prawns, Caesar salad, and calamari fritti. For kiddos they do have high chairs, a special menu, crayons, and sippy cup. For mains our party ordered the chicken parmigiana, marinated grilled teriyaki skirt steak, the pecan crusted pork chop, and a few other choices including the grilled lamb tenderloin too. The pork chop was my favorite ~ juicy, clean meat in a nice port wine reduction. The surprise birthday blackberry sorbet was such a fun hit for post meal also. To note in addition, Bella Siena has a lunch menu featuring paninis like a grilled Kobe beef burger and grilled free range chicken breast. This is one of my favorite Italian restaurants. Almost like being in Italy, almost ... I've been here countless times but decided to write a review about the last two times I came. One of the times I brought my niece who is an Italian food lover as well. Crab cakes, carpaccio, superb! Main dishes: rigatoni allá salsiccia, lobster ravioli added shrimp - divine! Drinks: hibiscus martini and a raspberry mojito mocktail. Everything is always amazing. Other favs I did not have this evening are the gnocchi, pork chop, mushroom risotto. The appetizers stole the spotlight especially the portobello mushrooms, layered with tangy blue cheese and a rich balsamic reduction, all resting on a bed of warm, velvety polenta. Pleasant, but easily overshadowed by everything else. The entrées carried the momentum beautifully. The lobster ravioli was decadent and satisfying, while the 16 oz ribeye arrived flawlessly cooked, tender and full of flavor. The lamb loin was equally impressive, served over creamy mashed potatoes with perfectly grilled vegetables that tied it all together. Cocktails were just as memorable the lavender and blood orange martinis were vibrant, refreshing, and elegantly garnished with edible flowers, adding a delicate, fragrant touch. The restaurant buzzed with energy it was one of those warm, golden evenings where everyone seemed to be out enjoying life by the water. And then there was Jordan, our server, who truly elevated the experience. Attentive, witty, and effortlessly charming, he made us feel completely taken care of from start to finish. We went to Bella Siena for a small family celebration on 5/2/26. As always the restaurant environment was wonderful. A little loud as many large groups were there celebrating graduations. My husband ordered Lobster Ravioli which was amazing!! My daughter ordered Salmon which she really enjoyed. I ordered Chicken Parm and was not impressed. It was okay but I have definitely had better. Bella Siena is a family Italian restaurant right on the boardwalk of Benicia. The downtown Benicia boardwalk is definitely happening as the backroom was full of gatherings and our family decided to have a small birthday gathering on a table in front. It was between Bella and the place next door. There was some confusion with reservations, so I would recommend getting there and checking in early. The perfect trip to Italy / Siena includes pasta and Bella Siena is no different. I ordered the chicken parmigiana with extra cheese. The linguini and marinara provided a nice salutation away from the extra big piece of chicken. Calamari is the go-to appetizer for a reason. Cozze & Vongole is a great choice as well mostly if you have the big bread basket to soak up the sauce with the shellshockingly juicy shellfish. We ordered the arugula salad, but it never arrived with the appetizers gone and they dropped the mains. Most of the desserts had dairy, so I stuck with the blackberry sorbet option. read more

We were seated very quickly on a Sunday for late lunch and got seated by a window with a beautiful view of the bay! The staff were very attentive and professional throughout the entire meal. Appetizers: The skirt steak satay was so juicy and tender, a wonderful contrast to the crispy onion rings below. The beef carpaccio was flavorful and refreshing with the greens on top. The crab cakes were also very crispy with a good amount of crab inside - just what we were hoping for. Mains: They sprinkled fresh parmasan on all our pasta dishes! Spaghetti was actually very meaty in the sauce, which is exactly how my meat-loving dad likes it. The pappardelle was my favorite by far. The seafood was cooked to perfection - not too tough or chewy. The sauce was a shrimp bisque that really made the dish unique, but still had the fresh tomato element that I love in a pasta dish. The pasta itself was fantastic in texture, had a good bite to it and picked up the sauce really well. The mushroom risotto was creamy and yummy! I personally didn't have much of it. The indoor seating is cozy while the courtyard patio seating is open to the beautiful views of the Carquinez Strait. We've been coming here for many years. The service and food have had its ups-and-downs. This evening, we dined with family members who ordered different dishes. The Food: Calamari Fritti (calamari, roasted bell pepper, chipotle aioli): The calamari was a tad limp which makes them extra chewy. (3 of 5) Dungeness Crab Cakes (dungeness crab, cucumber, tomato, red onion relish, sesame soy aioli): A little under-seasoned but otherwise a good buttery, delicate, flaky, and tender texture. The golden and crispy exterior makes a contrast to the soft interior giving it a nice crunch. (4 of 5) Short Ribs: The first thing we noticed was the rosemary stuck in the middle of the meat. I didn't mind but the other diners thought it intruded in the overall taste of their food. The short ribs were savoury, rich, and tender, and had a robust beefy flavour from the choice of meat and the slow cooking. The drawback were the vegetables. The carrots tasted like they were pulled from the garden and dropped on the plate. The raw carrots lowered the score from 4 to 3. (3 of 5) Lobster Ravioli (homemade lobster ravioli, prawns, sundried tomatoes, capers, lemon cream sauce): This is a nice dish but didn't have the rich, sweet, taste. The delicate lobster flavor was lost in the filling and other ingredients. Unfortunately, the star of this dish did not shine. (3.5 of 5) Lamb Tenderloin (grilled lamb, garlic mashed potatoes, grilled asparagus): Two diners ordered this dish. It wasn't "gamey" but a little earthy. Though someone was a little heavy-handed with the pepper, I still enjoyed my dish. this is one of my family and i's go to dinner spot. we have tried most things on the menu but our favorites are the calamari to start and bread pudding (WITH the vanilla gelato) to end hehe the service is also always amazing! they have the most friendly and attentive staff. we usually end up getting different entrees every time, but this time I ended up getting their steak rib eye special which I have never had and it did NOT disappoint. they made it perfectly medium rare and the mashed potatoes were so creamy and delish. my husband got his favorite which is the chicken parm, but he substitutes his pasta sauce for pesto and loves it! their martinis are always good and we always have to get some throughout dinner and of course an espresso martini to end the dinner! definitely recommend trying any of their drinks but don't leave without an espresso martini! read more

Visited this place on a on a recommendation by someone who eats here often but I wasn't as impressed as others and as those who recommended this place. The ambiance is great and being right on the water brings a certain level of enjoyment and upscale feel. The service was good but not over the top. We had a table of 10 and I went without water and some of my table as well. Felt and observed that the young lady helping us was more involved with other tables and probably working for that tip knowing our was an automatic 18% since we were a big group. Don't like when servers take this approach. As for the food it was just ok. I asked what the best or recommended plate the server said the pecan encrusted pork chop. Being originally from Texas I love anything southern like this and anything with pecans. Take a look at the picture, do you see any pecans encrusted anything ? Or any pecans on the plate? Yea neither do I..When I asked the server she said well it's not really pecan encrusted it's more like a flavor. Guess what? There was no pecans flavor. Overall, I probably wouldn't eat here again. You can't serve a plate that is described as pecan encrusted anything with no pecans. The reason for my two stars review is this place is not as advertised. It's probably a great place for locals and a go to and great for drinks because the rest of the table's drinks were good. They are located right by the water with beautiful views and exceptional food. We got a window seat inside with a view of the water. What we ordered: + Arugula salad - even though we ordered one salad, they split this for us in separate plates. This had pears, bleu cheese, and candied pecans. It was the perfect starter. + Pappardelle Allo Zafferano - wide homemade saffron pasta with prawns, mushrooms, and artichoke hearts in a shrimp bisque sauce. This is my go-to Italian dinner spot during the Benicia Thursday Farmers Market. Shoutout to our fave server "auntie" Dory for being sweet and accommodating to my toddler who is a whirlwind. We tried most of the menu and can't go wrong with any of it- some faves are the calamari, shrimp pappardelle and the risotto- so flavorful and fresh with ample portions. I've heard good things about the osso bucco so gotta add it to the list! The ambiance is beautiful especially if you sit near the back with the windows during sunset. Finally tried Bella Siena, and it was an excellent meal. Reserved a table for 4 people for Christmas Eve. They were serving a limited (not fixed) menu but still offering a broad selection from their menu. We started with appetizers for the table; the bruschetta, the calamari, and the carpaccio. All were good, but the carpaccio was the standout. A lovely balance of flavors. Since it was Christmas Eve, I treated myself to a Dirty Martini. A solid, quality martini. With extra olives, of course. Entrees at the table included: Lobster Ravioli, Veal Piccata, Gnocchi Al Pesto (with prawns), and the Lamb Tenderloin. Again, all were very good but the standout was the lamb. Tender, a wonderful flavor of Rosemary, and the port wine reduction was perfect. My veal was very good but the mashed potatoes were great. Yes, I know, mashed potatoes, but they were really good. The texture and flavor were just right, and they were a perfect balance to the veal and the spinach. Desserts were also excellent. My son ordered the Tiramisu. We are Tiramisu snobs, and this one was very good. Not necessarily the best we've ever had but very good, and we all liked it. My daughter had the chocolate mousse cake, and this was also very good. I had my favorite dessert - Affogato. Put one of these in front of me and I am happy. The restaurant itself is on the water in Benicia. Depending on where you sit, you may have a very nice view of the Carquinez Strait. The service was excellent. Attentive enough, even on a very busy night but not over the top, and our waitress was willing and able to make recommendations that were helpful. The restaurant can be loud. This restaurant is the same owners as Allegria in Napa so food was good, my waitress Jessica wasn't friendly at all as I made casual conversation about their sister restaurant and ruined her opportunity to get a tip very early on in the experience. If you don't like customer service just don't be in it, it's very simple to be nice. Just because I'm d dining alone does mean I don't deserve to be treated friendly. First off the ambiance is great, view of the water, a lot of charm. The food though, was a bit flat. I ordered the Pappardelle Allo Zafferano. Sounded delicious, saffron pasta and a shrimp bisque sauce. Looked delicious. Taste, not that delicious. Lacked seasoning, depth of flavor. I do want to go back and try some of their other dishes. "I'll admit, I was a bit hesitant to step into Bella Sienna since I'd never been, but at my wife's suggestion to try something new, we gave it a shot. I'm so glad we did! We started with the Calamari Fritti, which was excellent. My wife ordered the Ahi fish of the day salad--incredibly fresh and flavorful--while I went with the Chicken Panini. Both were delicious. A huge shoutout to our server, Trent. He was incredibly welcoming, took the time to walk us through the menu, and was very attentive to everything we needed. Also, don't sleep on the bread--the vinaigrette and oil mix they serve with it is superb. I'm sorry I didn't grab any photos, but take my word for it: you won't be disappointed. Amazing experience. Beautiful space and packed with people. Despite the large crowd service was attentive and friendly. We had a very intimate table tucked in so we could talk despite the bustle. They have a creative cocktail list and drinks are large! The calamari was a great starter- crisp calamari with fried artichoke hearts and green beans. For entrees the linguine frutti de mare was full of shrimp, salmon, and mussels in a tomato sauce. The homemade parpadelle allo zafareno was delish with saffron, tomatoes , shrimp, artichoke hearts, and mushrooms in a lobster sauce. Portions are large and prices are great! This was the 2nd time we were there. We ordered the same 2 things as the last time, which was 2 ribeyes and 2 teriyaki skirt steaks. Un fortunately we were all disappointed in both. The teriyaki skirt steak was dry and tough. My ribeye seemed to taste good. But I only ate 1/3 of it as my stomach was t feeling good. I ended up going to the restroom at the restaurant and threw up my whole dinner. We were very disappointed but didn't want to send the food back or say anything to our waiter because he was awesome. Even though the food was bad and we spent $350 including a $60 tip for our waiter he was very attentive. read more
