My girl and her friends went to this place a few weeks ago and she said it was very good, so I wanted to go try it out. We had reservations just because it was mothers day and we knew it would be busy and it was. We got there a little early and sat down right away. The place has plenty of outside and inside seating. When we sat down a waiter came right away and asked if we wanted water and told us our waiter would be right with us. Our waiter came shortly after that and asked what we wanted to drink. We ordered a bottle a sparkling wine. We ordered the poutine fries to start. The bottle of sparkling came out right away. The poutine came out not to long after that. The short rib was tender and juicy, the fries were cooked perfect, the cheese on it was melted, but it needed some gravy and more cheese. The original Canadian poutine has the gravy on it and the cheese curds which are so delicious. If this had the gravy on it, it would be a 10 in my book because of the short ribs and the fries were perfect. For our entrees we ordered the short rib eggs benedict and the chicken & waffles. The food came out pretty quick which was nice. The short rib eggs benedict was cooked perfect. Of course the short ribs was tender, and the hollandaise sauce was nice. The chicken and waffles was cooked perfect, the flavor on both was nice, the chicken was tender and juicy. The must have brined the chicken in order for it to be so tender and juicy, if not, they did a great job either way. The waffles were also cooked perfect and they had some type of flavor to it that you didn't even need syrup. I observed the staff working and everyone was working together and bringing stuff and picking up from all the tables. Kudos to the whole staff. Our waiter was also great so good job to him as well. Review #010 - 2026 I wonder why I never took the time to write a review for them since I have been here on multiple occasions and it is quite a drive away from home, so I must enjoy it that much! We normally come here to celebrate our anniversaries or birthdays & sometimes both occasions at the same time since we tend to have so many things to celebrate in life! I made reservations a couple of weeks ahead for a table for 6 at 7:30 PM on Saturday, May 2nd. However, when the day came, we were hoping to show up an hour early since one person in our party couldn't make it. Sadly, being that they were so busy, we still had to wait until 7:30 to get seated. We had three occasions to celebrate! Our 21st "1st date" anniversary, our daughter's successful piano recital and our son's girlfriend's 22nd birthday! My daughter and I always share the tomahawk and it is always made perfectly every time! My husband always orders his caesar salad and a ribeye as his meal, and he has never been disappointed. Our son always gets the lamb chop and his girlfriend decided on the filet mignon. We all got an order of truffle fries for an up charge since we don't really care for mash potatoes. Sadly, they were extremely greasy so none of us were able to finish one. We all should've gotten something different to try! We finished off our meal with the chocolate flourless cake, which was just ok. The summer berry bread pudding was also just ok. They used to give you a complimentary scoop of ice cream for your birthday, but I guess they no longer do that! Our waiter was good when he was present but would disappear for a long time, had to wait forever for the bill. It was like going into the countryside after getting off the freeway. Parking is available in front of the restaurant or on the side of the road. Dining was available both indoors along with outdoors. Started off with the bruschetta and shrimp cocktail. The shrimp cocktail contained gigantic prawns with a tasty dipping sauce. For the mains, opted for a ribeye medium rare and it was tasty. The marbling was decent and the ribeye was cooked to a perfect medium rare. The side of mashed potatoes and steamed vegetables were decent. What a cute spot! Parking can be a bit tight here so be prepared to possibly park on the main road! Service was attentive but they didn't get our appetizer out before our main meal. It's a quaint little restaurant with a welcoming and warm vibe. The service was great and our waiter was very attentive. We ordered the beef short ribs and 14oz rib eye. Both came with fresh veggies and mashed potatoes. I ordered my steak medium rare and they didn't disappoint. Not old cooled perfectly but WOW, it had a smoky flavor to it. Must try this steak, and don't forget to order finishing salt and balsamic vinaigrette (it goes great with the steak. The short ribs fell apart perfectly. Honestly, everything was amazing. My old fashioned was wonderful and even came with a square ice cube. Very tasty. Things to consider: Bring a coat if you get chilled easily. There's seating outside but when that door opens in the winder you can really feel it in your bones. It's probably the same difference in the summer. First time here, came with a friend between wine tastings on a Sunday. Made reservations, but probably didn't need them for the time we were there which was post normal lunch time. We ordered the bruchetta to share, I had the BBQ ribs and my friend had the special prime rib dip. My ribs were nicely tender and had a little zing from the sauce. My friend enjoyed her sandwich and we both took some food home, portions are good. We sat inside, but there is also outdoor seating available. We had dinner on a weekday. Place wasn't as packed and we were seated right away. I love the ambiance. Our server had taken our orders right away but service after that went downhill from then. We ordered Wagyu beef carpaccio, Rigatoni Bolognese and Steakhouse burger. We also ordered a red sangria and beer. The Sangria wasn't my favorite. Tasted like it is watered down. The beef carpaccio is delicious. But, it was such a disappointment to them to serve it with regular crackers. Even just thinly sliced toasted baguettes would have been much better especially with the price. The pasta is tasty as well the burger with truffle fries. Slow service from my server. Table touch from server was hardly there. After food was delivered, waited again to get checked as we needed other condiments and it took awhile for them to check on us. Enjoyed our evening here while staying in nearby Fairfield. The service was friendly and warm, and the seating area we were in was very cozy! I had the surf and turf with mashed potatoes and grilled veggies; the steak was nice and tender, the potatoes buttery and smooth, and the vegetables had a nice crunch to it. I just left this Fabulous restaurant - the last 6 or so times were amazing, but terrible waiter this time! He Never came back to refill our water or ask about drinks.... We ordered apps and they came seconds after our main course and the salad never arrived. I asked him for a steak recommendation since I have ordered the salmon (good, but mild in flavors) the last few times. He said I should get the cod and I said I was really wanting BEEF but if the fish is "that good" and had "super strong flavors" I could be down. He said it had amazing flavor. Yikes, It was old fishy smelling and old fishy tasting- no strong flavors, in fact, so bland that it was inedible. This is my first time ever sending something back. I felt just god-awful. Had to update our review to lower it a few stars, we've been to this restaurant three more times since my last post and unfortunately today after ordering the tomahawk steak for $165 that's advertised as wagyu we were really disappointed. It was more tough than a choice rated steak. Super chewy and not tender at all. For a steakhouse we expected more. It took us almost 2 hours to get out of there tonight, a busy night for them maybe, usually service is super quick. Other items we always order like the poutine fries and the steak burger were great and are consistently great! Disappointed with the steak though and you feel a little ripped off when something isn't as tender as you'd expect it to be, especially for the price. read more

Although I've been here many, many times I've forgotten to write about how great it is. My daughter and I went last Sunday and had a lovely brunch - served until 1pm. Yay! I got the farmers breakfast which was great. Perfectly prepared over medium-well eggs. The bacon was extra crispy and the English muffin seemed homemade. Everything was very tasty! Mankas Grill made a strong first impression. The atmosphere is classy yet relaxed, and the service was warm and attentive from the moment we arrived. Our server read off the specials with so much detail that I ended up ordering the halibut special, and their wine list had several great options--the one I chose paired perfectly with the meal. We started by sharing the French onion soup, which actually had excellent flavor, but surprisingly lacked the amount of cheese you'd typically expect. Still, it was comforting and delicious. The oysters, on the other hand, were outstanding--fresh, bright, and served with a pickled radish add-on I'd never had before. Now I'm officially addicted and will be hunting for that combination everywhere. For entrées, I had the halibut while my friend ordered the steak. Both dishes were high-quality and beautifully presented, but they leaned lighter on seasoning than expected. I even asked for extra topping sauce to bring out more flavor. The ingredients and execution were solid--the dishes just needed a stronger punch. Despite that, the overall experience was lovely. This is probably my fourth or fifth time dining at Mankas Grill. My boyfriend and I shared the spinach and artichoke dip, the 22 ounce porterhouse steak with mashed potatoes and broccolini and carrots, an order of brussels sprouts, and he also had a cup of the French onion soup. We also and the pomegranate sour for our cocktails. Service was great and the ambience was very cozy inside. I haven't had a porterhouse steak cooked that well in a very long time and they did an excellent job! We ordered it medium (often times restaurants will cook it to medium well) and in this case they stuck to what we requested, and we were both incredibly impressed. Hostess was not friendly or apologetic, nor did she update us why there was a delay or how long it may take. Odd but whatever, there for a good meal. Ordered apps and drinks. Apps arrive, but still no drinks. We are still working on the apps, and the waitress comes by asking if we are ready to place our dinner orders. I asked if we could at least wait until we had our drinks to order dinner and she reluctantly agreed. Ordered an old fashioned with a single rock, which was good, but the last drink just came with regular ice cubes ("we ran out of single rocks"). No apology, no asking if we even wanted it like that, nothing. And then they said they ran out of a couple desserts. We spent a few hundred dollars there and it was disappointing from beginning to end. Us being the only brown people in the establishment made me think something was up there. I believe this is my second time here. The major drawback here is finding parking. It can be a long way if you're parking on the side road but it was a weekend and there was the aroma of wood burning for smoking meat. Once inside it was a bit loud somewhat like a sport bar vibe but people are having some drinks and enjoying themselves but I guess I can't complain. The food and service was good and didn't have to wait long especially since the restaurant was crowded. I did feel maybe a bit rushed when I was ask about takeout boxes and dessert but when I saw what time they closed I totally understood. The food was good. I absolutely enjoyed the food as well as the cocktails. It was a cold night so we enjoyed and Irish coffee the chicken wings were phenomenal and the service was only OK. At the end of the evening we had to try to figure out where our server went so we can get our bill taken care of other than that. It was a great vibe. They have a lot of meat options but not many options for people who don't eat meat and only eat seafood, but I enjoy their artichoke heart. I've visited this place twice, and both times the food was more than decent. It's a cozy spot in an area you might not casually stumble upon. We specifically came here for lunch right before heading to Caymus Winery, and it was a great choice! The burgers are fantastic--they have a wonderful smoky, grilled flavor. The garlic truffle fries have delightful crispy edges. While the pasta Bolognese isn't authentic, but has a comforting homemade taste. I had a chance to attend Mankas grill with my dinner crew last week. I have to say I was surprised because I had never heard of Mankas. It's surrounded by a winery and a vineyard in a rather rural area of Fairfield Susuin. The meal was actually excellent. The ambience was great. The service was great, although they offered things like short ribs, burgers, steaks, bruschetta, calamari, artichoke dip and brussels sprouts, most of us settled on either the lamb chops or some sort of steak, including ribeyes and porterhouse. I have to say I really enjoyed the porterhouse as well as the appetizers and for that matter my old fashioned was excellent as well. The porterhouse was served with mashed potatoes and vegetables. I could not eat it all so I had to enjoy the rest of it the next day. They also had an excellent selection of wines on this particular evening we chose a Cabernet I would highly recommend and I plan on going there again in the near future read more

I don't usually leave reviews, but after two visits I feel this needs to be said. I recently moved to Fairfield and had heard this place described as one of the best in the area. That simply isn't true. The food is not good, especially for the price point. On my most recent visit, the Ora King salmon was severely undercooked and thoughtless. Similarly, the red beat salad felt poorly constructed and careless. Both dishes missed the mark. I left spending $80 for my meal, still hungry, and ended up eating elsewhere shortly after. I should have raised this in the moment, but I was with friends and chose not to make it an issue at the table. There's clearly potential here the ambiance is nice and the staff are kind, but the food needs significant improvement to justify the reputation and pricing.
