Luckily the weather was perfect the day we went, so we grabbed a table outside and it ended up being the ideal way to enjoy the meal. We started with a Cuban café with condensed milk, and it was incredible. The coffee was bold and rich like a good Cuban espresso should be, and the condensed milk added the perfect amount of sweetness and creaminess. It was smooth, strong, and honestly one of the best cups of coffee I've had in a while. For food, she ordered the chilaquiles and I ordered the ropa vieja plate, and we also added an order of papa rellenas to share. The chilaquiles were easily the star of the show. The chips were perfectly coated in sauce without being soggy, and the sauce itself had a really unique flavor compared to the traditional chilaquiles I'm used to. It had a deeper, richer taste with just the right balance of spice and tang. Every bite was packed with flavor and it felt like a really thoughtful twist on the dish. The ropa vieja was just as impressive. The shredded beef was incredibly tender and flavorful, clearly slow-cooked because it just fell apart with each bite. The seasoning was spot on -- savory, slightly tomatoey, and really comforting. It came with black beans and rice, and even though I'm usually not a big fan of black beans, these were excellent. They had a lot of flavor and a great texture, not watery or bland like they sometimes can be. The only thing that didn't quite land for me was the papa rellenas. They were well made, but I was expecting something with more of an empanada-like texture or a crispier outer bite. Instead, it was much more potato-forward, which made it a little heavier than I was hoping for. Service was amazing! I think about it way too often. lol The Vallejo location was the spot for me and my friends back in high school, and I used to go all the time with my parents too. So it's not just food, it's nostalgia that I hold onto. The Suisun location is bigger than Vallejo. Parking can still be tricky (similar struggle to the Vallejo location lol). They're located near the waterfront so expect to walk if you can't find a spot right in front. Its location is a nice excuse to walk around after eating, too! Staff is always great. They're quick, attentive, and used to the weekend rush because yes, they get SO BUSY. But honestly? It's worth the wait. A true local classic that never disappoints. I choose French fries but they have a rosemary breakfast potato I stared to get but maybe next time for sure. My fries were served hot & crispy (not hard). The size of my croissant and mountain of fries covered my entire plate. There is a wait but it is worth every minute. Service is superb. The prices are very reasonable. I also had the peach mango mimosas called Da Bomb! And it was indeed. I got a nice buzz it was cold and refreshing. And not served in a narrow flute glass for only $11. I didn't need a second glass and probably would have stumbled my way out if I had. I've been traveling between Napa and Sacramento for monthly brunches for the past five years.
