This cafe is inside of a business building, so when searching it on the map it may seem a little odd. It is open to the public and when coming in let security know you're here for the food. I look forward to eating here everytime I'm in Vacaville. They are open for breakfast and lunch. They have different specials and then weekly staples as well. The food is made fresh and certain foods are made in small quantities so they can be sold out. They also have fruit infused water with the perfect ice for their customers. The chefs have been there for years and take pride in their work, it shows. Every meal I have had is delicious and reasonably priced. Dont leave without getting a cookie, they are truly delicious!

Maybe I shouldn't post this review because then everyone and their mom will start coming here! This place serves breakfast and lunch.. came here for breakfast wanting a croissant with eggs bacon and cheese! Super duper happy right now! My daughter got a breakfast burrito and was equally happy! Prices are beyond fair too! We'll def be coming back here to this cute, clean, and delicious cafe that not many seem to know about.

There's nothing unique or special about this place, it's reminiscent of a hospital cafe.

I can't get authentic food like what I hate at Vaquero cafe in where I am. At times I do crave for the food and the sauce amazing.

We orderd pancakes with blueberry compote, french toast and they were both sooo good. The pancakes nice and fluffy and the french toast was the best I've had so far.The bacon was super good and their country potatoes were cooked to perfection. The biscuits and gravy had really good flavor. Pretty much everything we ordered was fire. Our server was great. She was really nice and attentive to our needs. Refills without asking and the food came out pretty quick. The ambiance took me back in the day like a blast from the past. Cute lil spot. Found this spot on Yelp and it has great reviews. Food: I ordered The Cowboy which consisted of eggs, waffle, and chicken fried steak. Everything was hot including the waffle. So nice! The waffle was a slight bit crunchy on top but really soft otherwise and it was delicious! The chicken fried steak was very tender and the gravy wasn't bad but it could have used a bit more salt. The coffee was a bit mild for my liking. Service: When I walked in there was no signage so I stood for a few minutes without acknowledgement. Finally a young man with light brown hair approached and looked at me but walked right past. When he passed again I asked if I was supposed to seat myself? He looked off and muttered "yeah it's going to be a few minutes" then he walked off. It didn't answer my question so I continued to stand until another server invited me to sit at a vacant table. The same young man was observed tossing the food and bussing the table of a nearby customer who had gone to the restroom. His server came to the rescue however by making him a plate to go. My actual server Mary was nice and tended to my needs but it was a bit of a wait between being seated, getting drinks, and placing the order. Overall its a strong 4 rating that could have been a 5 with a little more attentiveness from staff. Definitely recommend though!

The food came out quickly, hot, and in generous portions, which was perfect because we were all pretty hungry after church and hadn't decided where to go until we found this spot. The ambiance was really cute, giving an old-fashioned, almost Riverdale-type vibe. It felt like a nice little getaway. We were seated and eating within about 10 to 15 minutes, and everything tasted amazing. The service was just as great. Our waiters were attentive, but I especially want to shout out Caitlyn. She was incredibly kind, patient, and attentive to our large group of about 10 people. She handled everything so well and made our experience even better. She truly deserves recognition and made a big impact just by how she showed up for us.

He served cornbread, then saw him near end of meal to see "how I was doing". He missed the meal, my empty glass and a side dish. I had to ask for everything from expediter--a very nice guy, who clearly was experienced and helpful. I thought it unusual for a server to only take an order, but never serves. The cod and fries were fine, but 1/3 of the meal missing. The 3 stars were for partial meal, lack of attention by "server". Food was good (no side dish- potato salad), packaged frozen cod. Tipped 20% (lowest I do for service clearly not given by a waiter). During entire seating, I never Seen him pick up any food from kitchen. So not sure of role of "server". I prefer to write positive reviews. Wish I could for Evan. Guest #248

We were originally told the wait for our party of 6 would be around 50 minutes, but we got called in after only about 15 minutes, which was already a great start. Our server, Mychal, went above and beyond taking care of us. He had amazing energy, checked on us often, and made sure we were comfortable and happy the entire time. Even while helping other tables, he still made us feel attended to and welcomed. The food was delicious, especially considering how packed and busy the restaurant was. The steak was perfectly cooked, the warm fresh bread was amazing as always, and everything came out surprisingly fast. One thing we also noticed was how organized the staff seemed. Everyone appeared to know their role, worked quickly, and helped keep things moving smoothly. Overall, we had a really great experience and will definitely be coming back again probably for Father's Day next time!

But after 20 mins somebody stole our booth by another server and we had to continue to wait. Once we finally got served they did do their best to accommodate but the food had really gone downhill. We ordered the Onion Bloom, Mozzarella sticks, Ribeye and New York strip. The onion bloom was a 10/10 as always! But the eveything else tasted like garbage. Our steaks were overcooked, almost like a dog toy. The mozzarella sticks were still cold inside and don't even get me started on the macaroni and cheese! 1$?! For some water-downed Mac and cheese that tased like it was from the back of an old fridge. The only thing good was the Caesar salad. For 85$ NOT WORTH IT.

On Friday around 5:30pm we were able to find parking out front on the street. You go in a side entrance which has a few outdoor tables and when you walk in, if you go right there is a bar area and left is the restaurant area. Looks like a place that families and older couples like to eat. We got there a little early so asked for a table for four. We were seated in about 5 minutes and while waiting for our friends ordered a drink. They offer beer, wine and cocktails. They have a large menu and have specials also. I ordered the Pear Collins and hubby had a beer. Once our friends arrived our waitress took our orders. We started with the Tequila Grilled Prawns and the World Famous Calamari. I ordered the Beet and Goat Cheese Salad and hubby had the Chicken Asiago Fettuccine. Our friend ordered the Pork Chop. The pork chop was huge and she said it was delicious. Hubby liked the pasta but although there was plenty of salad and beets, there was just a big glob of sour cream on top. Service was good and our waitress was very friendly and took good care of us.

After a few email exchanges they offered a certificate to come back. I told them that I don't think our friends would want to come back and declined the offer but I wanted to be clear that my issue is based on the service. Told her I was a former waitress and food reviewer, I received no response back. Dear Merchant Team, I wanted to share my experience from my visit this past Saturday with a party of four. It was our first time dining at Merchant, and while we enjoyed the brunch overall, I was disappointed with the portion size of the chicken fried steak. It was surprisingly small--about the size of my cell phone--which was not what we expected based on our previous experiences at other establishments. Additionally, the service during our visit was below expectations. It took approximately 30 minutes for our server to initially take our order, and we were not offered a full range of beverage options beyond champagne and cider. After informing the server that I do not drink alcohol and have an allergy to cider, there was no follow-up or alternative suggestion provided. We chose Merchant based on the fantastic reviews we read, so this experience was quite disappointing for us. Thank you for taking the time to review this feedback.
