Chicken with pico de gallo, yuca fries, and white rice
    Hannah F.

Variety of delicious Latin dishes served in a friendly, welcoming atmosphere! Parking was easy to find in the lot. I had a weekday lunch with my fiance here. The lady at the counter was patient with us while we browsed the menu. Honestly it was hard to choose because everything looked/sounded so good. We placed our order, paid, and took a seat. * Pollo panameno with yuca fries upgrade - tender and flavorful chicken with a fragrant side of rice and refreshing pico de galllo. Loved the crispy and soft yuca fries too. * Bistec encebollado, steak option - the steak was tender and the accompanying salad, rice, beans, and plantains were tasty too. * Guava and cheese pastelito - we shared 1 piece before we tried our entrees. Yummy, flaky, and just the right amount of sweet! I'd probably get 1 just for myself next time. * Horchata iced latte - we shared the small size and it was a great start to our lunch! Not too sweet, smooth, and perfect balance between the horchata and coffee flavors. Out of the restaurants I've found so far around the area, La Guagua is a unique lunch option that I'm so glad to have nearby. I plan to come back and sample more of their offerings. Thinking of ordering the parillada, empanadas, and alfajores next time. I will come with an empty stomach!

1/2 Cubano and 1/2 Churrasco along with fries.

Saw some reviews and my friends and I decided to have lunch at La Guagua. Definitely a spot we will return to again. Small shop with nice, outdoor seating. Especially nice on a beautiful day like today. I went with the Cubano sandwich and regular fries. Washed it down with a Limonado Cubana. The drink was refreshing and not overpowering. Sandwich was well sized and delicious. Made fresh so expect a short wait. Friends ordered the Churassco sandwich and Tostones Camerones and Ropa Vieja respectively. Their dishes looked amazing as well. The Tostones was a hit with my friends, while the Churassco, while enjoyed, was deemed a slight less enjoyable than the Cubano (we split sandwiches). Fresh-cut French Fries were delicious as well. Added a little salt and they tasted great with a copy of sauces that came with the meal. Various pastries and other meals look good to try as well. I'll post an update when we return.

I have been here twice and enjoyed it both times. The food is delicious and definitely something hard to find in town. The employees are always helpful. I wish they had indoor seating for colder days but I understand it's very small inside. Pricing is fair and i haven't had an issue with parking.

I was in the area and I wanted to try something different than what you find in Nut Tree. A little further drive will take you to this gem. The cubano I ordered was delicious. They don't come cheap at around $15 but it came with a side of fries. This definitely hit the spot for me and I'm glad I was able to try it.

The family had a hankering for Cuban so we went to La Guagua. It's a small cafe with ample outdoor seating. Order at the counter, get a beeper to go retrieve your food when it is ready, self serve utensils/napkins, and bus your own tables. The food: The fries have to be some of the best I've had in a while. Super crispy and a little fluffy in the middle. Well-seasoned and goes really well with the green crema that is served with it. We got the mango and strawberry smoothies - these were very fruity and tasty, not too sweet. Pollo a la Plancha - huge pieces of chicken breast with melted cheese and a sprinkling of veggies. Tostones appetizer - a little tasting portion of ropa vieja, shrimp, cheese?, and Al Pastor each on a little fried plantain. Served with red crema. I liked the ropa vieja (the others were ok) and would probably choose the ropa vieja plate over this sampler. Rumbera Arepa - this thing was a beast in terms of size. Almost a half foot Arepa crammed with a ton of meat and cheese. Very tasty for a bite, but then it feels like it is missing something since it was just protein and starch. I asked for some salsa and that helped. Rum Cake - I confess that we waited a day before eating this slice. If we ate it after the meal, you would have had to cart me straight to the ER. Eating it the day after, it tasted kind of like pound cake with not that much rum flavor. Overall, I thought the individual components of dishes were pretty tasty, but needed something to bring it all together (salsa or more acid - I didn't even notice pickles on the sandwich). What we ordered was also very heavy - pretty much all meat, cheese, and carbs. Would have been nice to have something to break that up, which is why I recommended the plates solely on the pictures.

Found this place on accident because I was looking for a place to grab a coffee. I also ended up getting some pastries. The coffee was some of the best I've had in a while and was so good as well as everything else we tried. Pastries are made in house so you must try them. I would come back alone just for some coffee but I am definitely coming to also try their breakfast. Everything looks so good. There is seating available indoors but you can also opt take your stuff to go. The lady who helped us was also very friendly.

    Desayuno Tipico, so good!

La Guagua is soooo goood! I remember when their location in Fairfield opened in 2020. I was a repeat customer, but as soon as they opened the one in Vacaville, I knew I'd be here a bit more ^_^ The inside is small, but the seating in the outdoor area is nice. I do enjoy the self serve water as well as the station to grab utensils and such. Every time I come here the service is top notch! The lady who works the cash register in front is always super cheerful and the cooks are kind as well :) I highly recommend their breakfast burrito and sandwiches! They jalapeño bacon is so yummy. Honestly, their Arepas are good too and I love the breakfast menu overall. I tried their Desayuno Tipico plate recently because I wasn't feeling meat that day. I give it a 9/10, I added bread for $2 more thinking the food would be too light but was so filling! It's a lighter option if you're not feeling up to meat :) I ended up sharing with my boyfriend. I would get it again but minus the bread, it came with 4 pieces and I thought it would just be one. He had the farmhouse burrito, which is always a great choice. Overall, I definitely recommend you try this home made Latin American style food for yourself! The lunch items are SO good, a little bit pricier but definitely worth it. Will forever support this business and will continue to come back ^_^

    Hamburguesa Latina & Arepa Pabellon
    Tatiana O.

Food: I ordered the Arepa Pabellon which was a perfect portion of fried plantain, black beans, cotija cheese sprinkled & juicy shredded beef in between two pan fried thick Venezuelan style maíz dough. Every bite had the perfect combination and it stayed warm the entire time i ate it (15 -20 mins). Side salad was light crunchy and refreshing! 9/10 Also in the picture we ate the hamburguesa latina and it has everything a latino needs-- jalapeños, bacon, cheddar cheese, grilled onions about a half inch patty juicy and seasoned meat. To top it off it had 1000 island sauce. 10/10 my husband left no crumbs. Drinks: Horchata iced latte with oat milk. I was genuinely surprised they have REAL coffee here! And much more to offer like a cucumber mint aguafresca which is what we also had. Ambiance: It is an outdoor restaurant but it seems casual and similar to the vibe of a coffee shop except you get Latin music and they have heaters that work great to enjoy the weather rain or shine. We loved finding this gem in vacaville and will be returning often since we're locals. It's hard to find a great local Latin restaurant with great coffee, food, and pastries.

    Chicken Empanada
    Manny B.

I was thrilled to discover La Guagua has set up shop in Vacaville (until now I thought Suisun had the only one), so I swung by and grabbed a chicken empanada and an iced horchata latte. The empanada came out hot, flaky, and packed with tender, well‑seasoned chicken, and that creamy cinnamon latte made the perfect sweet counterbalance. The whole order was in my hands almost before I'd finished tapping my card; the team works lightning‑fast and keeps the vibe upbeat. There isn't dine‑in space (just a few chairs if you're waiting on takeout) but their little outdoor patio is inviting enough that I lingered to enjoy every last bite in the covered patio with both table and bar-like seating on the edge. Vacaville's food scene just got a serious upgrade, and I'll definitely be back.

    Pastries, those are delicious!
    Maria G.

It's pretty dissapointing that is closed 3 days out of the week!! Tend to crave the empanadas and their coffee and when i check the hours happens to be on a closed day... boo hoo! I wish they had more events just as they do in the Vacaville one.

Pollo a la plancha with sweet potato fries and mazapan coffee
    Chelsie O.

My friend and I come here every week and order the pollo a la plancha with sweet potato fries and a mazapan coffee. This place is a hidden gem and you can't go wrong with any of the items on the menu. Their empanadas are great and the homemade sauces are a MUST try. They have the habanera, cilantro, and chipotle sauces that go great on everything with every bite. We are obsessed with this place. The workers are nice and its a great place to bring family and friends.

The food is just ok. A lot of things we have tried have been dry and bland. We keep going back for those guava empanadas.

ABSOLUTE BEST MEXICAN FOOD TRUCK ON PLANET EARTH…read more If I could give Shula Kitchen Mexican Food Truck more than 5 stars, I would. I'd give them the whole galaxy. These folks are by far the best in the business. The spices? Perfect. The freshness? You can literally taste the love, the quality, and possibly a divine blessing in every bite. Their asada fries ruin all other asada fries for me. I can't even look at another order without feeling like I'm cheating on Shula Kitchen. And don't even get me started on the hay burrito. I could eat that thing every single day and never get tired of it. If I had to choose one food to eat for the rest of my life, I wouldn't hesitate--just wrap me in a Shula burrito blanket and call it a day. And parents, listen: if you've got picky eaters, they've got you covered. They serve fries and plain nuggies, aka the universal kid language for "I'll actually eat this and not make a scene." The service is friendly, the food is unreal, and honestly, if Shula Kitchen ever runs for president, they've got my vote. Do yourself a favor--go eat here. Your taste buds will thank you. Your diet might not. But your soul definitely will.

After watching a food blogger on Instagram do a nice review on Shula's, we thought about giving…read morethem a try. We only go on days when they're at the Monte Vista location. They post their weekly schedule on where the food truck will be stationed on Instagram and Facebook. At times, they may not be there as scheduled due to unforeseen circumstances and it's best to check on Facebook with any updates. We ordered a cheeseburger with fries and a regular chicken burrito. The burger was very delicious with the right seasonings and toppings, and the fries that came with it are so good with a crispy and light crunch to it; sort of like beer battered fries. The regular chicken burrito was tasty and filling. We enjoyed our meals and will return often to get our Mexican food fix!
