I was in Vacaville on business. On my way out the door I paused, (my stomach made me do it) asked my host if the Mexican spot across the street was any good, and waited to hear his reply: "nah, not really. If you want good Mexican you gotta hit Jalisco". Say less. "Oh, and get their green salsa." Ok, you said a little more but we'll get back to that. I headed out the door and started driving. Soon I realized I didn't actually know where I was going (not unusual for me) and called the host. All sorted out I not only found Tacos Jalisco but got the (green) spot right in front. Valet parking would have been less convenient. Things were looking up. I went full gringo and bought a super burrito. Was it OK? No. Was it good? No. Was it great? Getting there. Was it superb? Warmer. Was it T R A N S C E N D E N T? YESSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Was the sauce good? Ok, let's not do this again. Yes! The sauce was HELLA GOOD! How good? Let's just say they sell it by the bottle FOR A REASON, primo. For a reason. Did I buy a bottle? Uh, do people come from out of state to buy bottles to freeze? Uh, yes. So yeah, you best believe I copped a bottle. Call the burrito Davíd Blaine because that lil hommie disappeared real quick. (I got the al pastor which was perfect btw. ) The ambiance? I don't know. Do you remember the color of the carpet when you were at the California Lottery's finance office to pick up your Powerball winnings (you picked lump sum)? Then you know what I'm talking about. A lot of tops. Place was clean. Menu's were easy to read. The very nice lady working the register was hella cool and even offered up suggestions when I was vacillating. Lots of dudes in the kitchen so my to-go came out real quick. (Lots of cooks to me means they're doing a brisk business. Which means fresher food. Faster service. Etc. You know the ------ vibes! So all I have now is this bottle of green salsa and the knowledge that refills are only $5.00. For life. Yes they make it fresh every damn day. Stop playing. Since I've been craving a lot of Mexican food lately, it's been my mission to try different restaurants in the area. I thoroughly enjoyed eating at Tacos Jalisco in Vallejo, so I was curious if they were the same (at least the food anyway). Although I do appreciate being able to order a wet regular burrito, topped with shredded cheese, I feel like the meat (I ordered carne asada) wasn't really flavorful. My husband ordered a regular chicken burrito and stated that the burrito included very little chicken but a bunch of beans. Overall, our meal was OK. We love their burritos especially the pollo a la braza. The chips are okay but their green and red sauces are wonderful to dip a chip or on top of your burrito. Both are spicy but the red is really hot! The service is quick and friendly and takeout travels well. read more

I was just disappointed in the fajita meal (about $25)because it was pretty bland, and it didn't come with any extras (no sour cream, no avocado, no lettuce, no cheese). One thing about the California area is there are plenty of taco options everywhere. I happened to stumble into this place for lunch for taco Tuesday. There weren't any specials but the tacos were reasonably priced. I tried the pulled chicken which was ok, the pastor which didn't impress me much, the asada was ok and so were the carnitas. Ester is my girl!! She took care of us for my daughter's big party! We go to tacos Jalisco often and knew we loved their food, so when it came time for my daughter to pick a restaurant to cater her event she asked if Tacos Jalisco could do it? I went in and asked if that is something they can do? Someone have me their catering brochure...I messaged Ester and she got back to me so quickly with all the information I needed. We coordinated payment and they delivered exactly what they said they would at the time they said they would. My daughter's guests all told me they were very impressed and satisfied with their meal. Disclaimer- we did not dine here. Was in the mood to DoorDash and try something new. I had the 2 carnitas enchiladas meal with rice and refried beans. I thought the enchiladas were very ok. Kind of bland but the portions were decent. The refried beans were a bit too liquidy in my opinion but the star was the rice. Flavorful and seasoned well. I'd do over again. I'm not sure what everyone is raving about...we ordered a platter for 2 (carnitas, shrimp, chicken, carne asada, flautas, rice & beans, and tortillas). The meat had NO flavor and was extremely dry! In the pics you can see they placed 5 shrimp across two sections in the container with an abundance of sauce. The shrimp was the only item with flavor but again it was smothered in sauce and a bit overcooked. They placed the chicken on top of the carne asada I think. It wasn't until I took the pics that I figured out where the carne asada was. Only because its darker than the chicken. Lol. I couldn't tell by taste because everything tasted the same and varied slightly in texture. They should have placed the shrimp in 1 section and the chicken or carne asada in the other. My guess is portion control was the reason they put the chicken on top of the carne asada. They could have kept the carnitas - just a shredded glob of meat with a funky aftertaste but again no flavor. The flour tortillas were homemade I guess but were too thick. Upon picking up the order both the woman cleaning the tables and the one ringing the orders were snobbish and neither greeted me or asked if they could help me. Finally the one at the register looked up at me without a word as if to say what do you want? Poor food and poor service? I'm good. read more

The staff is friendly, the salsa is amazing...really good and you can purchase them. When my husband went to pick it up, our order was on the table ready to be picked up. Ordered asada nachos, two sides of small rice , and a super burrito. Nachos were covered with a great amount of toppings. The asada was perfectly seasoned. Chips were soggy I got home, I wish there was a remedy for that. Asada burrito was good and great for portion size. The red and green salsa were great! My husband enjoyed the spice of the red and I liked the green salsa which was a milder kick. It's not fancy but it is delicious!! The staff and service are outstanding and the menu is what I'd call normal for a neighborhood Mexican restaurant. But there are two standouts that make this place extraordinary: (1) Everything is well prepared and plated, so the burrito doesn't fall apart and the elements of the plate look good and don't mush together. They're doing it right in the kitchen, and that says something. (2) The green salsa is next level amazing. They call it out as the best green salsa in the world (or something). We went for breakfast for the first time in a Saturday. We have been coming here for a long time for dinner because it's very good. And the breakfast is just as good. We got there early and they were still making the salsa for the chips. I got the chilaquiles and it was delicious. The red sauce they use is best I've had up north. The churrizo omelette is very flavorful too. I work get both again for sure. The coffee is average coffee, not like Cafe a la olla, but it is a decent cup of coffee. Inside interior was basic. The inside seating area is just a bunch of tables. The staff were very friendly and kind. Now for the food. I did not like that they served the salsa in bottles. Not very sanitary. I don't want to touch or share a bottle for chips with others. They should at least serve plastic containers to put the salsa in. The salsa was very good. I had the chili verde and it was descent. I'd give it a 7 out of 10 rating. The beans and rice were good.
