I'm sorry to write this, but something has fallen off in the transition from the Peabody and Alamo location and the Nut Tree location. My evaluation is based on the pollo verde--which was an outstanding flavor at the prior location. I ordered a burrito and there is no flavor in this sauce. It's practically inedible, honestly. Having been a regular at the Peabody location, this is a shocking departure, and I can only assume there was a loss in talent back of the house in the transition. But since a restaurant is only as good as its food, this is a significant loss. I hope something changes, it's wild to have to close the clamshell on a Villa Corona pollo verde burrito, but close it I must. edit: Thanking owner Carlos for his response, but I have to assume it's a different batch than the one I tasted Monday. I've been a big fan of Villa Corona for years and the Peabody location was my spot; but even then I had a strong preference for the pollo verde from that location over the Nut Tree. Mexican food is my favorite and I have eaten quite a bit of it all over the state of California as my job moves me around a lot... So the carne asada tacos were $8 each I ordered two and a fountain drink.. so for only two tacos and a drink out the door with a tip I was $25 in... The restaurant is cute the service was great the tacos for the worst I've ever had.... The meat was dried out there was no flavor at all they sprinkled some onions and a little pico de gallo on top with barely any salsa the most dry and tasteless tacos I've attempted to eat. I LOVE this place!!! They make the very best nachos!!! The chips are made daily. They are really good! Not oily and they have that perfect crunch! Yum!!! I've tried other stuff on their menu, but the nachos are the best by far. At least in my opinion. The prices are reasonable, and the portions are huge! Great customer service. I really want to like the food here...We ordered food to go - chicken enchiladas, rice and beans. What we received was more like enchiladas with salad. The portions of rice and beans could have been better as well. The guy working the register seemed friendly enough, and he even explained the salad on top of the enchiladas as something he was personally used to growing up. I guess my poker face wasn't working too well when he opened the container to show me the food. Lol. He was working the front alone and seemed stretched a bit thin with all the multitasking. Everyone is suffering right now, expensive food, gas, etc. But PLEASE DO NOT INSULT US, this taco was Like a tostada, soft not even crispy, when I asked for a different shell, the cooks were making fun of my complaint, too soft, too small. $18.99 for this! If you're looking for authentic Mexican food in the Vacaville area, THIS is the place to be. Staff is very welcoming and friendly. Not too crowded for a Sunday afternoon but that's just the way I like it. The dining area was VERY cozy. Tabletops had the images of the old Mexican board game, Lotería, on them. The horchata drink has a hint of vanilla and cinnamon. It was a winner in my son's book! I ordered a plate of enchiladas. I was unsure if I should go with red or green sauce and the gentleman who took my order suggested that I get one of each! So I did just that and I was happy that I did. I chose the shredded pork. This place is SO yummy. I love Mexican food and this place hit the spot. It's a cute restaurant in the nut tree plaza close to other shops. It has indoor and outdoor seating. We came here on a weekday evening and staff is super friendly and welcoming. Food came out fast and was nice and hot. Chips and salsa were unlimited and so good we took some home. This has been my go to burrito spot for a few years in Vacaville. Working close by, this conveniently located business in the nut tree offers a tasty menu that will fill your appetite. Service has been quick and friendly - never any issues. My go to is the super green sauce carnitas burrito, and it's delicious. They've got a nice outdoor seating area and also a fair amount of indoor seating. Ambiance is typical for the food - it's an order at the counter spot with bottled and fountain drinks. They've got self seating and Mexican style decorations. I've never been disappointed in the burritos, and because of this that has been my primary order (too many times to mention). First and foremost I was very impressed by the fact that I have dined at the St Helena location ,and now that I have been to the Nut Tree restaurant I have to say that it was just a tasty experience as well as St Helena was. Same flavor,fast courteous service, and a great atmosphere with art and great outdoor dining. Definitely a must visit again soon. Seating is limited but comfortable. read more

But the food was bland and flavorless. The guacamole and salsa were good but everything else was mid. The enchilada sauce is watery, thin and bland. The rice is bland. The cheese on the enchiladas even tasted bland. I had to add salsa to everything just to make it taste like anything. The churros were undercooked but at least they were good. I spent $59 for 2 people to have a small mediocre meal. If you don't like Mexican food to taste like Mexican food then you'll love this place. Otherwise, skip it read more

I love this restaurant. The customer service is great, and so is the food! This is a family owned business, and they make me feel like family. The ambiance inside is of a nice Mexican restaurant, and has a lot of elements of the family's history in the business. They have outdoor seating in front as well. It's great for a gringo Mexican food fan like me, my son-in-law who was born and raised in Mexico, and my grandkids too. They have kid's meals that definitely satisfy the little ones in quantity and flavor. I've had to remind my oldest grandchild that she has outgrown the kids menu the last few times we went there. As I was working nearby I found myself having lunch at this quiet but very colorful Mexican restaurant. As we ordered the young gentleman after a couple of minutes came forward and informed us that our order was not available. He was very apologetic and offered anything in the menu to substitute which we did. We had the shrimp burrito and shrimp hot and spicy you or A la Diabla. This was the most incredible experience on shrimp platters that I've had experience for quite some time. It was tasty tender and full of flavor. I could not have enough of them and they were many. I highly recommend you visit this restaurant in the Nutree mall it is very popular at lunchtime. Their fountain drinks are great and A great variety. Came here for lunch - craving tacos. Happened to be a Tuesday and they had $2.75 street tacos advertised on their electronic menu for Taco Tuesday. I tried to order a couple but the lady said they don't have them or do them, can't remember her exact words. Asked her why? She said they do them earlier - it was currently 1:30 pm. I asked what time? She said 11 (right when they open I guess?) weird, but ok. I ordered two carne Asada tacos instead, with no beans. Each taco was $6.25 - kinda steep, but I guess inflation? The meat was dry, despite the corn tortillas being so soggy they were breaking apart while I was trying to eat them. I had to ask for lime because the tacos didn't come with any. The place is grungy and dirty. They claim they have been around since 1972, but they clearly haven't changed a thing since. The drink machine looks old and dirty, and this weird plastic curtain on the way to the bathroom is coated with grime and grease. The service is friendly and efficient but that's the only redeeming value. We ordered the chips and guacamole. The chips were sour and the guacamole was clearly mass processed with lots of stuff (eg onion fragments) that don't belong. The carne asada tostada was nasty. The beef was chewy and strange. The tostata itself was soaked in grease. The carnitas enchiladas taste better than they look, but that s a low bar. The pork was actually tender but there was an overwhelming amount of red sauce that made the thing look like and taste like a soup. The food use to be a 10 now it's a 6-7 don't know what they did to change it but my shrimp quesadilla had only half the cheese it use to have and the tortillas were much greasier and NOT hot at all. My wife's tostada was 20% smaller than normal and not as fresh tasting. Please leave the original menu alone and change me more if necessary. This will be my last visit to an old regular spot. read more
