We came by for a quick bite before heading out to the wineries. Love that Moulin opens early and we arrived before the crowd on a Saturday morning. I got a fig leaf latte and a cafe strié to-go and both were delicious! I loved the housemade fig syrup which was fruity and floral - I asked for my latte half sweet which was perfect for me as the half sweet was even a bit too sweet for my taste. The cafe strié is an espresso cream filled pain suisse. The pastry is flaky with a nice crunch on the outside the the espresso cream was luscious without feeling too heavy. I was such a fan of this and we'll definitely have to go back to try more of the pastries the next time we're in downtown Napa!
Stopped in for a small breakfast bite. Absolutely delicious find. The bakery smells delicious as you walk up, there was quite a line but moves quickly. Quite a few small tables outside, but they do not stay empty for long. The coffee was hands down the best coffee we had all weekend. The fig leaf latte was smooth and delicious and not too sweet. All the pastries we ordered were absolutely delicious. Worth waiting in line and wish we were locals to come back sooner.
I came to Moulin for a Sunday afternoon pick-up around 1pm and they still had a few pastries available - I could see that hold sold out of some of their other offerings already. The service was welcoming and kind, and I loved the windows and wood accents inside which made for a nice relaxing atmosphere - it was a beautiful day outside so I sat at one of the many small foldable chairs/tables outside. The offer adorable plates for pastries to enjoy there. I got a lemon verbena pastry, and a fig leaf latte. I like that their offerings are a bit unique, and the pastry was delicate, tasty, though a little less crisp that I'd like - perhaps because it was later in the day? The fig leaf latte was also tasty - though I couldnt really taste a big difference between the fig leaf syrup and vanilla - it seemed to be missing a little something to really bring out the fig leaf flavor. Overall, a cute little cafe to grab a pastry and coffee at, and I'd like to come back earlier in the day to try some of the other pastries! A little pricier than some of the other pastries in the area, but they're definitely a little more elevated here :)
My favorite spot for coffee in napa area. Love that they use camelia coffee beans here. The coffee menu always rotates with seasonal drinks. The coffee drink i got is their espresso long shot which was chilled and perfect to sip on. . I love their pastry here and always get their croissants plain, so flakey and buttery. Love the flavor croissant as well. You can't really go wrong with any of the pastries here, they are good quality and definitely made with love on the first bite. . The service here is friendly and the line does get long. The line moves quick though. . Ambiance here is casual and plenty of seating outdoor and indoor is limited seating. They did add some wood bench which is more seating inside now. Great spot to people watch, or simply to grab a quick drink and pastry. Parking nearby has a lot of space too. Moulin in Napa is the kind of cafe you want to visit, even if the line is 10 to 20 people deep on weekend mornings. It looks daunting at first, but once you get your order, it's clear why people are willing to wait. The matcha and espresso are excellent, and the house made syrups are delicious. We tried the vanilla, though the seasonal fig was tempting. Beyond the drinks, all the details feel intentional and the pastry is next level. The husband and wife duo have a chef Thomas Keller connection and bring experience from The French Laundry and Bouchon. They use freshly milled whole grains, resulting in baked goods that are pretty remarkable. The staff is smiling, friendly and professional, and even the bakery packaging, simple, logo-stamped brown paper bags neatly folded, feels thoughtfully designed, almost architectural. The building is modern, with outdoor seating in a quiet courtyard. The pastries are crisp and buttery, especially the raspberry croissants, which we loved. Their warm egg sandwich is simple, a custard-like sponge egg with garlicky aioli on a sesame seed brioche bun; the eggs are rich but with a nice consistency. The quality is high across the board. I try to avoid long lines, but this place proves some lines are worth it.
Super cute coffee shop in Napa. This place was wedged in an ally way but I started to see signs of people holding coffee and I knew I was close! I went on a Sunday morning and everyone had the same idea. There was a line out the door and what I thought was going to be a quick coffee run was a bit of a wait. I ordered an oat milk vanilla latte and ordered a hot latte with whole milk for a friend. When I handed my friend my coffee, he was instantly amazed at the taste! I noticed that they served their coffee in smaller coffee cups which is always a good sign to me! I prefer the 6oz cups of coffee because there is a better espresso to milk ratio that balances the flavor of milk and espresso especially in a latte! I find that 8oz+ coffee cup sizes tend to drown out the espresso in milk. So the smaller cup sizes really played out well in the final taste of the coffee. I didn't order any pastries but the people around me were gluing themselves to the window trying to see what was left. All of the pastries looked crispy and made with delicate care. I will definitely come back here next time I'm in Napa! If you're looking for a great cup of coffee, this is it.
The line was worth waiting for. I enjoyed the vanilla flan tart and the raspberry tart. The layers on the tart were airy yet full of texture on the bite. I could just tell right away that the pastries were thoughtfully crafted with heart and skill. The beverages were high quality as well. We had coffee and hojicha latte. The barista was super chill and took his time to prepare each beverage as if there was no one around him. So was the front server who took the order. There was zero sense of rush and hustle even though there were many people in the line. This place had mostly outdoor seating with big umbrellas and a couple of benches indoor. About $30 for three pastries and two drinks. Similar to Bay Area prices.
Visited on a Sunday around 10am with a friend, bakery was busy with a line of 12-13 guests ahead of us. Wait took about 25 minutes before we made it to the front to place our order. Drinks: Cappuccino - good, nice creamy frothy oat milk, strong espresso flavor, served nice and hot, small was an 8oz serving Food: Quiche - solid, served room temp which was on the cooler side, nice crisp flakey crust filled with a creamy custard that had thyme and gruyere, wish this had a bit more seasoning and more cheese, think this could have also benefited from warming up Lemon verbena glaze - a little loaf shaped croissant dough topped with a lemon verbena infused glaze and lemon zest, this was not too sweet, with a light citrus flavor, dough had nice layers and chew but not as flakey as the quiche crust Baguette - good, nice crunchy exterior, good crumb structure with a nice chew on the interior, tasted like there was a touch of whole grain in the mix, slight tangy sourdough flavor but a nice baguette for snacking and sandwiches Service was solid, quick order at the counter and staff packages you orders and drinks are picked up at the bar. Overall enjoyed Moulin, a solid bakery in Napa, good coffee And seemed like the matcha drinks were also quite popular. Bakery itself is pretty small, interior had a few benches and tables along with about 10 tables outside in the courtyard which was cute and a bit more spacious.
Moulin in Napa has some seriously legit focaccia, sourdough baguettes, croissants and other delicious creations. It's tucked in off of the main street and def worth a visit if you're in Napa. The service was prompt and friendly and the line moved quickly. There's limited bench seating inside while you're waiting for your coffee. A local referred us and we're so glad she did.
This is not related to the chain with similar name is SoCal. Seems to be locally owned and operated. Let's just say their pastry, including baguette, was very close to what we experienced in Paris. Coffee is typical but tasted better compared to other common coffee places. I wouldn't mind coming here again for a morning cup of joe. Service was nice. Host was patient to answering a few of my questions but barista seemed to be having an odd day. This fine as he seems to be focused on making the drinks. A mile would go long ways but who knows. Overall, great place to start your day with delicious bites and comforting sips. You can enjoy the outside seating and if the weather permits, it would be like sitting in the alley ways of Paris. Swing by and enjoy. This place is fantastic!
Decided to give Moulin a try after seeing the wonderful reviews online. The location is awesome in a hidden alley which can be hard to find but there's plenty of tables outside. There is also a really cool pinball arcade bar right across the alley way. The cafe itself is very clean and modern. We came around 11am in hopes they didn't run out of pastries which they didn't! We got: 1. Flan Egg Tart: Really good tart crunchy crust and very fresh. The inside didn't really taste like Flan but just like a normal Portuguese egg tart. 2. Chocolate Croissant: Very crunchy/flakey with good quality chocolate inside. It wasn't as warm anymore but would have tasted amazing if it was still mildly warm. 3. Hojicha latte: This was the best part of the order. I really liked the roasted hojicha flavor and it was perfectly sweetened (ordered it lightly sweetened). Tasted quite aunthentic and I could see the barista preparing it. They make their matcha drinks the traditional way whisking it and not any pre-made powder stuff. Overall, great cafe. A bit pricy $5.50 for an egg tart is a bit high but it is high quality. The service was good and things were fresh. Definitely worth a try if you're in the area.

Cute So Cal Chain French authentic parisian bakery originally launched successfully in Newport beach and over 5 other locations in So Cal.. ca now in Napa ca....situated in a charming courtyard with outdoor seating. successful patron centric gourmet grab n go pastries and sandwiches... as a family with friends and family in Europe .. we know our European pastries and we love Moulin
This little coffee shop was a bit hidden in an alley but we're glad we found it! I ordered a seasonal spiced pear hojicha latte and my husband got his usual mocha. Both were delicious! The staff was very friendly and meticulously made the drinks. The latte art was as beautiful as the drink was tasty! The cafe was clean and there were seats in the patio where customers could savor their drinks. I'd definitely come back here again!
OMG. Randomly searched for coffee in downtown Napa and ran across Moulin. Bar none, if you are looking for amazing coffee and artisan pastries this is the place. There is a reason the line was out the door this Saturday am when I got here. The line goes pretty fast so it is Soooo worth waiting. Highly recommend. read more
I've passed this place a few times, wandering in the alleyway. I'm not too privy on what constitutes as the best pastries, but everything I had gave me a great feeling. All the pastries were delicate and flakey. I had the focaccia with pepperoni. It seemed drizzled with hot honey, and each pepperoni seemed to be toasted or baked consistently on certain side. I get the ham sandwich too, and the bread is soft yet crispy. Outside seating but it was really nice on cloudy morning. I've been on sunny days where they put on the awning for extra shade. I'm not sure about the other drinks, but I've only gotten the Dubliner, which is reminiscent of Guinness but smooth cold brew. Service is pleasant and staff clean each table after you leave. Honestly, my absolute favorite place to get French pasties for overall service and how everything is purposefully done. read more

This is my favorite coffee shop in Napa, hands down. Amazing coffee and pastries! Yes, you'll likely have to wait in line for ~15mins on any weekend morning, but it's definitely worth the wait! There is limited outdoor seating, but it's a cute spot. Plenty of street and lot parking nearby. Check this place out, you won't regret it! read more
Tucked away in a side street in downtown Napa, Moulin is offering beautiful, creative French pastries, food items, and drinks. I got the RASPBERRY CROISSANT (kind of like a French version of an Italian Sfogliatella but filled with raspberry filling). It was relatively flakey, but I think because of the humidity it wasn't the level of shatteringly flakey that I expected. Maybe on a drier day their pastries have that more satisfying texture. I'd definitely come back to see if I can try the flan that they seem so well known for. Very cute space with limited indoor seating but a quaint outdoor and uncovered courtyard with plenty of seats. They are definitely popular so it's probably a lot harder to get a seat when they're busy. But downtown Napa is perfect for walking around with a pastry too so you have plenty of options for what to do after you pick up your treats. read more
Tucked away in the back corner w nice outdoor seating. We came when it was still pretty cool in the morning so it was lovely. It does get crowded tho so we didn't expect to find seating but there was a good amount of turnover for the tables so we didn't expect end up getting one. While everything was delicious. The lemon tartlet bread thing was prob most unique. Can't go wrong with a baguette and butter tho. Yum! read more
A long line out the door early in the morning - it's usually a good sign of deliciousness. It's a small bakery with a few benches to sit inside and some tables outside. Their baked goods were delightful - reminded us of some we've had in Paris. Staff was quick and friendly. What an awesome way to start the day! read more
So good. Viennoiserie here is crisp and there are some unique items on the menu. Everything was delicious. Pan de suisse gets a special acknowledgement for the texture - amazing crisp in the outside. Only thing I wish was different is the focaccia would have been even more amazing warmed up. Lattes are beautiful and smooth. Definitely worth a stop! read more

Wow. WOW! What a hidden gem! You can find Moulin tucked away in a little alleyway in downtown Napa. The place itself is small with maybe 2 2-tops inside, but they also have some small table seating outside which is where we sat. Moulin has definitely been blessed by the pastry gods. The pastries rival places like Tartine and B. Patisserie -- so flakey, so light, so delicious. The thyme quiche and lemon verbena are a MUST. I had a matcha latte which was wonderful and my husband enjoyed his coffee. Service was extremely friendly. Bathroom was clean. read more

We came here today and discovered that this is more of a cafe than a bakery. I wanted to try a variety of pastries but there were only one kind of pastry, egg tarts (reminds me of Macau egg tarts) but this has a thicker shell and the egg custard had lots of vanilla bean for 5.50 each. They are also pretty small, maybe 3 bites. Everything else was savory. They had 3 kinds of Focaccia bread (Spring, pepperoni and one more kind) for 8 dollars each. They had sandwiches that looked really boring. A small granola cup. An entire bar of French butter for 10 dollars (see photo). Random. Service was good and minimal (get your food, pay and sit down or to go). There is a clean bathroom inside. The patio gets full very quickly. This place is nice for a quick drink and snack but for lunch, it's too limited and it's definitely lacking in pastries to be considered a proper bakery. I would rather go to Maison Benoit any day for their assorted pastries in Danville that has a small town feel like Napa. read more
This is a major discovery for me - a cozy space selling fresh baked goods AND quality matcha is enough to visit Napa more often. There is plenty of seating outside, although the cafe gets pretty packed in the mornings. I totally recommend their croissants - they use french butter and it's wonderful. The cinnamon pastry we got was a tad too sweet but honestly everything was so solid and worth trying. Definitely coming back to try more things!!! read more
This place is tucked away out of sight, but that didn't stop people from finding it. There were plenty of people enjoying something from there, seated on the outside seating area. I got the turkey pesto sandwich to go. Once home, I cut it and heated one half. I had bites that were heated and not. In my opinion, heated was easier to eat as it soften the bread. The flavors were on point. My only small complaint is, I wish there were more turkey. Also, heated activated the butter or oil on the bread, which made it a bit messy to handle. Finally was able to try Moulin. Located in downtown Napa. Street parking is always tricky but once you pass that, it's fine. I walked on Franklin Street and almost missed it. It's tucked in an "alley", for lack of a better term. I stopped in my tracks because I noticed a line out the door. There were a few customers ahead of me and I was crunched on time, but the line moved swiftly. It is a tiny bakery with a few seats indoors but more tables outdoors. They didn't have a large selection so I ordered two pastries similar to a croissant: a lemon verbena and mocha. It was hard to read the tag. I didn't buy a drink because it would take me longer, but another reason to come back and try their coffee. The employees were friendly, kind and patient. Their pastries were extra flaky, crispy in the outside and tender on the inside side, and full of flavor. Definitely trying more items. read more

Adorable French pastry and coffee shop in the heart of downtown Napa. You can tell it's a fan favorite with all the visitors, but nothing keeping you waiting too long. They have a variety of parties, sandwiches, and drinks to chose. I ordered the croissant, matcha latte, and cinnamon roll to go. All so fresh and delicious! We got up early because we wanted some coffee and a small bite before heading out for the day and it was right across the street from our hotel. The inside is very small and they open at 7:30 so get there between 730 and eight because it starts to get very busy and you'll be waiting in the line. My husband ordered standard drip coffee and I ordered the fig leaf latte and we both enjoyed them. They also make their own bakery and bread items from scratch. We ordered the thyme and Gruyère quiche, and the egg sandwich. The quiche was awesome very flaky and the bread on the egg sandwich was very good as well. Highly recommend the egg sandwich. I wish we would've ordered two of them because they were so good. The place is not very big so there's not a lot of places to sit and it's around the corner kind of hard to find so it's more of a grab and go place. So if you want something quick if you're staying in the downtown area at one of the hotels highly recommend this place because we went back to our hotel and got the free coffee they had this coffee was way better so we were glad that we forgo the hotel breakfast to get something from here. read more

Tucked inbetween buildings, next to a colorful wall. Worth the wait in line! Cute outdoor seating area with comfy furniture and great ambiance. Their plants surrounding the store front is even a vibe! Lots of beautiful pastries that I did not try. They use Sacramento, CA Camellia roastery beans. My latte was magnificent! We went to another coffee shop nearby and I was so disappointed and unsatisfied. We ate lunch then came here to try to have a better latte, and it was on point! New French bakery in town? Mais oui, don't mind if we do! Moulin (which means "mill" in French) has been such a great addition to Downtown Napa. For those who may not know, Moulin had already been popular at the Napa Farmers Market for a while, so now they've upgraded to this adorable little brick-and-mortar bakery/cafe just off First & Franklin. My hubby and I were excited to check it out, especially since we were just in Paris not too long ago hunting down all the best bakeries and cafes. We definitely loved the French vibes here, and although we didn't order any coffee, we definitely made a point to try a few of their pastries and bread. Here's what we got: Vegan Focaccia Bread - fluffy, delish, topped with caramelized onions and olive oil, omg so good (and kudos to them for having vegan options!) Sesame Seed Wheat Loaf - nice crust on the outside, soft on the inside and full of flavor (amazing warmed up and dipped in olive oil which is what we did once we got home!) Croissant - light and airy, soft on the inside yet super flaky on the outside (if a croissant makes an absolute mess when eaten, then you know it's good!) A quick visit to their website and you'll see that they focus on naturally leavened (sourdough) breads and viennoiseries using a variety of organic whole grains that they mill in house on a stone mill (Moulin!). The practice of natural leavening makes wheat easier to digest as the fermentation process begins the digestion process. Service was friendly, and although space was a little tight inside, we really enjoyed the outdoor area. They set up the brick alley that they're tucked in really nicely with tables, plants, trees, and strung up lights. Very charming spot and we can't wait to go back! read more

Excellent pastries, baguettes and sandwiches. Spectacular coffee and espresso. There is always a line but it's the only place I'll willingly wait to order. I love that they don't rush. The vibe inside is very zen. Pro tip for customers: please don't be the jerk who claims a table before you order, it just adds to the seating crunch and people who ordered before you end up having no place to sit. Hidden gem tucked away in an alley. The smell of butter wafting in the air. Bumping 90s hip hop. Seems promising! Opening in late May 2024, Moulin is currently the IT girl bakery in Downtown Napa from a Bouchon Bakery and The Midwife & The Baker alum and his wife. They're located across from Cadet Wine & Beer Bar. If you're not from around here like us, keep an eye out for the Fidelity National Title sign, turn into the alley, and Moulin is in the courtyard. Moulin is open for takeout and dine-in. Outdoor seating only. M E N U Artisan bakery with a focus on whole grains (milled in-house), naturally leavened breads (sourdough), and viennoiserie. On a Saturday morning around 9:30 am (short line of 5 people), they had a variety of croissants, seasonal tarts, galettes, breads/baguettes, and pre-made sandwiches. Pizza squares available later in the morning. Drinks: Hot tea, coffee, and non-caffeinated specials. V I E N N O I S E R I E * Croissant au beurre ($4.50): https://tinyurl.com/25er7kk5 The butter croissant was on-point, good rise with plenty of crispy buttery flaky layers and a soft, springy honeycomb center. * Croissant à l'oignon ($6) Inspired by French onion soup, the croissant was rich and buttery topped with a savory caramelized onions with a nice sharpness from the cheese. Felt more like a danish vs croissant tho as it's more bready, not as many flaky, laminated layers. Regardless, it was delicious. * Flan Vanille ($5.50): https://tinyurl.com/c2yexp7x Least fav item, I thought the ratio of pastry crust to flan was off. And, the flan was a bit curdled, not smooth. It low key reminds of an expensive, not so good pastel de nata (Portuguese egg tart). D R I N K S * Watermelon Shrub: Fermented Watermelon w/ topo chico mineral water ($5) On paper, it sounded like my jam (love flavored sparkling water) but it oddly tasted like a jolly rancher. After several sips, I tossed it. * Iced Coffee ($4.25) Not mine. S E R V I C E Kind, friendly staff. They were busy so our drinks took a long time...20 minutes. A M B I A N C E Small shop with an open kitchen and tidy display. There was about 8 café tables outside. 90s hip hop playing. One restroom. P A R K I N G Free easy street parking on side streets and lots.
