Great intimate restaurant in downtown Benicia, perfect for date night. All of the staff were so wonderful as well. Not a lot of restaurants offer beef wellington on their menu, so that was definitely a huge reason why I wanted to try Baxters out, and it did not disappoint. Perfectly cooked filet mignon at medium rare wrapped in flaky puff pastry and luscious duxelles. While I felt the quantity of roasted veggies and mashed potatoes on the side were not enough to balance out the dish. I also tried the skillet corn bread and the gnocchi with salmon. The pasta dish surprisingly had a generous quantity of salmon throughout the dish and the gnocchi were soft and fluffy.

Oh my goodness what cute chic restaurant. It's such a vibe with its decor & intimate setting. The staff were amazing so welcoming and friendly. Let's get to the food , when you walk in you smell all sorts of amazing aromas. We all enjoyed our dinner. Everyone said that the dishes were delicious. From the skillet cornbread, Brussel sprouts, beef bites, gumbo pasta, French dip sandwich, smash burgers. I had the best French 75 , it wasn't the original but it was the other one with an amazing gin. Oh you can tell the difference between the original and this one. It's on the menu, I forgot the name lol. The crumbulee martini was so good. Yes definitely this establishment will be in our rotation for sure!!!!

We've been coming to Baxters since it opened. The staff is nice, the owners are so personable and Benicia natives. They have brunch and dinner and the food is excellent. We came here originally for the cocktails and we heard there was a speakeasy inside. It's not a large place, very quaint and perfect for an intimate setting. We love Benicia because of the diverse choice in restaurants. Add this to the list of places to try when you are in town!

Steak bites- tender and delicious. Could use an additional starch, but my niece at it with my eggs

Baxter's has my heart. Three of us went for Sunday brunch to this spot we wanted to try. Such a quaint, cozy spot. The staff was very attentive and wonderful. We had great banter with the staff as well. I knew I wanted to tey the skillet cornbread and the garlic shrimp and grits. But as we look around we saw so many great items to try. We ord we red several dishes to share at the table. Can't wait to try dinner!

Came in for a quick cocktail but wish I had stayed for more! This place is super quaint and intimate, I loved it so much. We were seated but did have to wait almost 10 minutes until we were greeted. The bartender actually ended up leaving his area to serve us. It was incredibly nice. I looked at the strawberry punch and he recommended he can make it even better and as a martini. SOLD. I did not taste much alcohol but wow, this was the best tasting drink I've ever had! It was sweet, fruity and perfect! While seating we saw a few people get burgers delivered to the table, they looked mouthwatering. I have a gluten allergy so I wasn't sure if I would be able to eat anything here. Will come again for drinks!

Baxters is an elevated dining experience located in downtown Benicia. Our service was exceptional, from the moment we walked in until the end. The ambiance is classic and intimate with the bar and restaurant in the front and a speakeasy in the back. The food was delicious. We started with sunrise mimosas and Brussels sprouts and then ordered the shrimp and grits, steak and eggs, and croissant French toast for the entrees. Even though we were full, we couldn't resist trying the banana pudding for dessert and it was truly worth the extra calories! Amour was very personable, attentive, and provided great recommendations on the menu. Kevin and Kenneth wished us a happy Mother's Day and gave us a little insight into their story. The staff made our Mother's Day brunch special and I'm looking forward to coming back to explore the dinner menu.

We were able to walk in and secure a table with no reservations. I was a bit worried not having a reservation since the place only had a few tables, thankfully they sat us no problem. The decor, aesthetic and ambiance were stellar! It felt elevated with the linen tablecloths and the velvet drapes. They had a pretty extensive cocktail menu, which was nice, though I settled for a glass of wine. We started with the cornbread and Brussels sprouts. The cornbread was a tad bit of the sweet side, but over all good. The brussel sprouts lost its crunch with the sauce they put on it. I didn't really care for the sauce it came in, but I didn't enjoy the aioli dipping sauce. My friend got the salmon and I got the scallops. Sadly, both dishes were very salty. I think the vegetables and sauce were overly seasoned rendering the dish difficult to enjoy. At least my scallops were cooked perfectly. We also got the truffle Mac and cheese. It was good, not much else to note there. In all, I would want to return again to see if their brunch would fare better since the ambiance is so fly and the customer service very welcoming. Food rating Cornbread 6/10 Brussel sprouts 3/10 Truffle Mac and cheese 7/10 Scallops 6/10 Customer service 9/10 Ambiance 10/10!

We came back this time just to experience the speakeasy exclusive room. We heard that the vibe was good! I'm just going to be honest, the room was extremely small but the decor was nice and the service was great! This time we tried the taco filet mignon for an appetizer and they were excellent (I forgot to take a picture). For our main meal we had the lamb chops and they were just right they were very tender, they were severed with garlic mash potatoes (just a little bit cold) also came with seasoned vegetables. We also had their scallops and they were nice and big with a sauce on top that wasn't overwhelming, it came with garlic mash potatoes as well (again a bit cold) and season vegetable. For this being our second time here we were satisfied. We will give it a 7/10! Go support this business please it's worth a try!

Steak sandwich- delicious

Fries are really good, fresh, crispy, flavorful. It has seasoning that gives it a hint of curly fries. Beef wellington was cooked very nicely to medium rare. Nice thin flaky crust. Sauce was excellent. Veggies-asparagus, broccollini were a bit tough. I think music was too loud. Ice tea volume per cup is small, small cup lots of ice. Therefore expensive. But will return to try other items on their menu.

What a delicious restaurant in one of my fave streets! My girls and I brunched here today and had a wonderful time. The servers and owner Kenneth were so welcoming and friendly. Interior was a bit small and pretty fancy with white tablecloths, black napkins, and wine glasses. There's a brunch menu from 11a-3p on the weekends and we ordered and shared the following: -Garlic Shrimp and grits -Skillet Cornbread -Croissant French toast, bacon and eggs -Crab Cake Benedict with potatoes -Truffle fries -Espresso martini, sunrise and limoncello mimosas Everything was decadent and delicious! I'd highly recommend the buttery honey cornbread and crab cake benedict, which has a lot of fresh crab and the potatoes are tender and flavorful. Truffle fries were very seasoned but a bit salty. I'd love to try the rest of the menu next time, the filet mignon bites and beef Wellington sound tasty!

If I could give them 10 stars I would... Food was outstanding... Not just great OUTSTANDING! Next Denzel was a phenomenal waiter, attentive, remembered everything AND it is my Birthday today and he brought out the entire staff with champagne for a happy birthday tribute. We will be back, and this place may have just checked every single box for our new favorite spot!!! Tonight they created some very special memories for my family and my wife's visiting family from England. Thank you!!!

The food service and ambiance were incredible my cousins and I went for the first time today and when I tell you I felt like I was at a family member's house.... Kenneth and Kevin came to our table several times to check on us and we had a small issue and the both fixed it in a split second and the food was delicious and the filet mignon tacos were to die for I shared them but I could've ate all three... I recommend this to everyone don't walk but run and go here thanks again to the amazing staff thanks Baxter's dad

I saw this spot on Instagram after one of my favorite influencers, @booziebrunch, reviewed it, and I knew we had to check it out. It was a last-minute decision, so we didn't have time to make a reservation, but luckily, we arrived right as they opened. Every staff member we passed greeted us with a smile, and we were seated almost immediately. Our waitress took the time to walk us through the menu and share her favorites, which we appreciated. We ordered cocktails, the French toast, and the burger. Everything was absolutely delicious. The menu is small, but clearly intentional. It's obvious they've perfected each item they offer. The restaurant was beautifully decorated, still styled for Valentine's Day, which added a nice touch to the atmosphere. I'm already looking forward to coming back to try their dinner service.

The big booths were perfect for bringing our toddlers along and made it so easy for everyone to settle in and enjoy themselves. The beer was terrific, the food was delicious, and the service was wonderful from start to finish. They also have a fun children's menu. It's not always easy finding a place where the adults can enjoy great beer and food while still feeling comfortable bringing little ones, and this checked all the boxes for us. So our party of 4 decided to call that a day and went to check out downtown Benicia, First St is lovely, full of small pubs, restaurants and shops. This taphouse looked interesting and there were a few people seated outside so we decided to check it out. It was a hot day and the server told us that the inside had AC so we decided to sit inside but there are several tables outside in the front of the taphouse and a separate area to the side of the restaurant with plenty of seating. There is a large bar to the left which leads into the kitchen area. There are several booths to the right and tables for seating in the middle of the space as well as bar seating. It was about 4:30 in the afternoon and the place was not full but there a few tables were occupied. The bar itself is very old, I was told almost 100years old and original and it is a standout feature. Beautiful. The decorations are pictures of how the place and Benicia used to look a 100 years or so back. i wanted to have a beer but don't like dark beers and when I asked the server for a suggestion, she got me a couple of samples. I liked the light beer and ordered that. We also ordered a Roy Rogers and a hop water which I was told was interesting. There is plenty of street parking but this was on holiday. I can see the parking getting tough on a weekend. I thought the prices for the food were expensive, especially for Benicia. We ordered 2 slider kid meals which were $11 each, came with kettle chips and an order of cheesesteak. It was good sized and also came with chips. Service was quick and they checked in on us to make sure that were doing fine. The only blip was when we needed the check and no one was coming around and I walked up to the bar to ask for the check and the server told me to go back to my seat and she will get it for me, it was unexpectedly abrupt. It was a nice place and I would recommend the restaurant.

Great Food, Questionable Seating Experience…read more Luccas in Benicia has a lot going for it, but I have some concerns about the front-of-house situation. There's a young man working there with curly hair, a shirt so tight it appears to be negotiating its own employment contract, and a cross chain that I can only assume is working overtime. Every time this gentleman has to seat a new party, he mouths the word "fuck" like he's just been informed that the restaurant has run out of food, the building is on fire, and he's personally responsible for saving the entire operation. I understand that seating people can be stressful, but watching someone silently curse the arrival of paying customers is a rather unique hospitality experience. The food may be good, but the welcoming committee seems to be going through something. Management might want to check in with this young man. Perhaps he needs a vacation, a larger shirt, or a gentle reminder that seating customers is generally considered part of the job. I'll be back for the food, but next time I'm hoping to be seated by someone who doesn't appear to consider my arrival a personal tragedy. Overall: Good restaurant, the service is badass. Food is killer. I just think that young man needs to take a walk or smoke a joint or SOMETHING!!!

We ate two servings of bread an do bitter while we waited for the entrees. The filet was tender and seasoned well in addition to being cooked a bit over medium, had a large portion of spinach and mashed potatoes, and came with the same red wine reduction sauce as the mushrooms which we found a bit odd. The minutely seasoned halibut has to have been the tiniest piece of fish we've ever seen served and only had six small potato quarters and like 6-7 stalks of asparagus with it. Overall, we ate everything because of the small halibut entree, but will most likely not return. I suggest the owners have more than one server on a Friday night, For everyone's sake.
