I went to T'zunun for Easter brunch and honestly I was a little hesitant since holiday dining can sometimes be hit or miss, and the food isn't always as good as usual. But T'zunun was great as always! We were able to get in right before the brunch rush without a reservation and sat outside on the patio, which was really nice. Our waiter was very friendly and made sure we got the chicharrones, which were delicious. The food presentation was beautiful and everything was flavorful and well prepared. What I really appreciate about T'zunun is the consistency, whether you come on a regular weekday, a Friday night, or for brunch, the quality and service are always solid. It's a beautiful place. Decor is delightful and not overdone. Service was impeccable. And the food - where to begin? I had the corn and the house salad with grapefruit and pear and the mussels. I'm used to mussels in broth, but not with this flavor profile. It was like kiss your fingers exquisitely good. Probably the best mussels I've eaten. A+. Very reasonably priced for what it is. Next time I'll try the ceviche. Oh my god there's a happy hour too, and the mussels are on the happy hour menu! Next time I'm in tinez / pleasant hill, I'm going to beg my wife for us to go here. And also there's even a kid menu. The Mexican chocolate cheesecake was impossibly good. My sons apparently looked tired because we were sitting here a while. Location is nice, clean and aesthetically pleasing. Staff - Jennifer was so nice. For food we had the guacamole (7/10 - small portion), steak nachos (8/10), oysters (10/10), shrimp tacos (10/10), passionfruit (6/10 - not very sweet) and Cadillac margaritas (9/10) and churros (20/10). My only "negative" comment is that some of the items are small. You'd like to have more of certain things. But I also keep in mind that we normally eat too much in this country so the expectation for big portions is high. This is a place that is classy, high quality and deserves several trips. read more

Service was friendly but very slow. The bartender was taking care of guests at the bar and also taking orders from tables in the area. It took a bit of time for us to be greeted and seated but he was very friendly. We ordered beef empanadas, fish and al pastor tacos, churros and I had a tamarind margarita. The empanadas were delicious! The dough was perfectly flaky without being greasy and the filling was flavorful. In my opinion the tacos were over priced for what you get. The batter on the fish was nice and crispy but everything was under seasoned. The salsa in particular was extremely bland. I had to taste it several times before I realized it really tasted like nothing. Also the platter was just tacos, no rice or beans or anything to go with it so I don't think the price is warranted. The drinks were pretty good, nothing super special but they were fine. The churros were a nice way to end the meal. They were hot and crispy. There was a side of mascarpone cream and that was a nice touch. There were multiple people working the restaurant but we were not checked on often. I asked for a drink menu but no one came back to ask what I wanted to order until I flagged them down. I think they definitely could do better about checking in with guests and touching every table more often. That being said I would absolutely come back for the empanadas. We love this restaurant so much. We often dine here when we have friends or family coming from out of town because they have a really nice patio and quite a large menu. It's a really lively place on the weekends. It's a brunch destination, and they have amazing drinks, food, and service. They even have some mocktails on the menu, which is nice. We definitely love their calamari. It's crunchy and crispy yet supple. Super fresh. We also like their chile relleno. It comes with steak and the steak is one of the best steaks I've ever had. They grill it on the grill so there's grill marks on that smoky taste and they cook it perfectly. You can't mess with their desserts, whether it's cake or their churros it's always sweet and cozy and delicious. The servers there are amazing. They are incredibly kind and accommodating. When we have had larger parties, they've always found a way to fit us all. Definitely recommend this place. It's great for a casual lunch, a special date night, a place to have a business meeting or even a place to celebrate a birthday. I've only heard positive things about Tzunun since it opened a few years ago. One of my friends heard the same, so we decided to go there on Saturday 12/27/2025. I had the chilaquiles (no chicken, green sauce) and my friend had the torta with fries. The chilaquiles were tasty and the portion was generous. Service was friendly and we didn't wait long for our food. Making a reservation (and changing it when our party size dropped from 4 to 2 people) on Open Table was easy. Loved the decor. I came here on a Tuesday evening with my mom and grandma. We had reservations, but when we arrived, it was a pretty empty restaurant which was surprising! My guess is that we were eating an early dinner at 5:30 PM so the rest of the crowd just wasn't there yet. By the end of the evening, it was about half full. The aesthetic was absolutely beautiful and colorful. We decided to enjoy dinner outside on the back porch, which had tons of coverage and shade from the trees around the building and the awning above. Our servers were prompt and regularly refilled our water glasses, which was very helpful because it was pretty hot outside. We shared the Elote corn ribs for our appetizer. I would recommend taking advantage of the limes and squeezing it over for some extra flavor. For dinner, I had the shrimp tacos, which were a part of their taco Tuesday deal - they were flavorful and filling for such an affordable price! I also enjoyed the fact that the happy hour went until 6 PM, so we were able to take advantage of the drinks and the appetizer as part of the happy hour pricing. This is the second time we've visited this restaurant, and it was terrible. The service was very cold; the waitress was timid and unprofessional. In our opinion, the welcome you receive should whet your appetite and make you feel truly welcomed! Furthermore, the food was cold--my tacos had tough, cold, and flavorless meat. My partner's dish was all jumbled together; it was supposed to come with guacamole--we asked about it, and it turned out to be buried underneath, but the waitress claimed it was just a sauce. I didn't like it at all, and it is actually quite expensive. I do not recommend this place whatsoever--starting right from the moment of arrival. You really need to find staff members who show enthusiasm, cheerfulness, and a welcoming spirit, because when you go out to spend your hard-earned money, you expect to receive good service. read more

I've tried T'zunun two times and had varied experiences. First time, I dined alone for dinner and sat in the dining room. I ordered taquitos and beef empanadas. The taquitos were potato and served fresh and hot. Great flavor. The empanadas stole the show! They were flavorful, flaky, and fresh. Oh, I also ordered a mocktail which was yummy. Second time, I sat in the bar area with a friend for lunch. I ordered the beef empanadas again and a Caesar salad. While the empanadas were good, the filling was "wetter" than the first time. Very different than the first time eating them. The Caesar salad was drenched in dressing and I could barely eat it. It was overwhelming. I wish I had sent it back but I didn't want to since I didn't ask for light dressing. Noted for next time. Service was great each time too. I would return but only for dinner. read more

I usually love coming here, the food, the service and outdoor patio is always great! But this last visit unfortunately not so much. The waitress was not very friendly at all. I asked for no syrup on the drink I ordered, so when they brought it out it had syrup. I politely asked if I could get another one without it (like I originally ordered) and she was super sarcastic with her respond. So unnecessary. I brushed it off thinking she was having a bad day, but then saw her super chipper with the guest at another table. Felt like the drink thing offended her or something. Then the ceviche I usually get was not fresh, and the corn rib appetizer was cold and just lathered with mayo. Not sure what was going on that day. But it was not the usual enjoyable time. I tried the skirt steak tacos. (3 all natural USDA skirt steak tacos with poblano peppers, bacon, queso fresco and a side of roasted pepper salsa). While the tacos were flavorful, it was impossible to eat the dish as intended like a taco. The meat was very chewy and cut into large pieces and the tortilla was very delicate so everything fell a part. The waiters were super helpful in answering our questions and gave us recommendations. They were also very attentive with our drinks. At one point, Gabriel the cheff came out to ask how our dinner was. It was very apparent to us that this restaurant takes pride in their food and appreciate their customers. I was excited to try this place but to be honest it was just so-so. We stopped in for taco tuesday and I would say I was a little bit underwhelmed. It took awhile to get our orders and the waiter seemed nervous or something. We ordered some tacos and mojitos. The mojito was mango flavored and is the real reason for the 3 stars - it was pretty good and a pretty good Taco Tuesday price. The shrimp in the taco is grilled instead of fried which is good but the slaw was tasteless. The carne asada tacos were probably the best. The chips and salsa were interesting. Big chunks of chips with a tiny dip. All in all, this place is in competition with a lot of Mexican style eateries in the area and I won't necessarily be rushing back. Every single time I come here the food and drinks are 10/10. It is always consistently good and the service is great, too. Everyone is always so friendly and accommodating! It's my favorite spot to go to when I want to meet up with friends or go on a date with the hubby. The Torta Milanese and Flautas are my go-to's. If you go for brunch I recommend the chilaquiles! I recently tried the Brussels sprouts and they were surprisingly so delish! They were savory and different than any other place has prepared them and it was quite refreshing (kind of tired of the sweet balsamic Brussels most restaurants serve you know what I'm sayin??) We had to yell to talk even though we were sitting right across from each other. Food was okay. We got the corn ribs, beef empanadas, ribeye steak, fish tacos, and Abuelitas chocolate cheesecake. I think the starter options are where T'zunun shines, the ribs and empanadas were pretty tasty. I just wish there were some mix and match capabilities. You cannot mix tacos or empanadas types. The mains left a little to be desired. I was initially brought the wrong tacos, but when the "right" tacos came, they definitely didn't taste right. The slaw was not consistently dressed and the fish not seasoned. My boyfriend's steak was cooked appropriately but they took his fork before he finished eating. The beans in the steak dish also lacked flavor, and the avocado mousse was not mousse-like at all. Lastly, when they asked us if we wanted any dessert, we were handed a kids entree menu. So clearly, there are some service and food quality opportunities here. As I was writing this review, a couple approached us and asked if I was writing a review and shared they felt similarly about their experience. I've now been once for brunch, and once for dinner, and I have to say I am impressed. The cute ambiance makes me suspicious that it's all flash and no flavor but this place hits the mark. Service is solid and they keep your water glass full which is nice. For dinner tonight I ordered the special which we didn't get the name of, but a photo on the servers phone and a description lol but it was DIVINE. A pesto risotto with skirt steak piled with peppers and onions amid a moat of a red chili sauce of some kind. It was so freaking good. As were the Brussels, the queso, and the elote ribs! My friend lives in the area and suggested that we go for "fancy tacos" for lunch one day a few months ago and we have been here probably 4 times since! Taco Tuesdays has 3 of the tacos as a special, but we have also come on a not Tuesday for tacos too! We also love the guacamole and "chips" (basicallly tostada shells). Came sat at 530 easy parking as it was early, free parking which is a nice break from paying in downtown wc. Shared the Brussels, corn, tostadas and Salsa and the chicken mole negro. I liked them all I would those again. I would not get the pisco sour I had, it was too sweet. The service was pretty good, no real issues there.
