Great place to visit after the Orinda theater or dinner at Casa Orinda Steakhouse. Good variety of tropical drinks. Fun decor. The downside would be the fact that we've been here for 20+ minutes and still haven't gotten our drinks. And there are empty seats. Bummer, the bartender admitted he forgot the drinks for our party of four. And we had already paid! UPDATE: We did finally get our drinks and they were good. I got the Saturn which was gin based and my boyfriend got the Mai Tai. As we were leaving the bartender apologized again and offered to comp our drinks but my boyfriend politely declined. read more

This is a fully legit tiki bar, and worth traveling to for any tiki fanatic in the East Bay. Two of us sampled four the drinks off their menu and one was a winner. Their classic Matai was done just as it should be: with plenty of fresh momt, well balanced, and rich use of orgeat. The jungle bird was delicious, and presented with just the right amount of tiki kitch. Their version of a grog was richly spaced and served with an orchid flower on top. And finally we had a non-rum drink that combined rye, scotch, import into a sort of tiki old-fashioned. Also great ambience and music. Definitely seated my expectations read more

This is a fun new place in Orinda! It's right next to the Orinda theater. The inside is small but they have done a great job on the decorations and it is a fun little place to hideout and step away for a little bit. All the cocktails my mom and sister and I got were delicious and they put a lot of fun garnishes in them. Service was friendly. We will be back read more

I love Tiki Bars in general and I had been wanting to visit Boo Loo Lounge ever since they opened. My boyfriend and I finally had the chance to make our way to Orinda a few months ago for a date night. Boo Loo Lounge is located right at the front of the Orinda Theatre. We went on a Friday evening and there were only a couple other people there. My boyfriend got the Zombie drink which he didn't like at all, he thought it tasted awful. I thought my drink was ok, already forgot which one it was but for around $16-$18 for a cocktail, I'd hope it was at least delicious tasting. I'm happy there's another Tiki Bar in the Bay Area but I just wish the drinks tasted good and the vibes were a little bit livelier since it was dead for a Friday night. read more

I'm thrilled to have ANY new bar in Lamorinda tbh, but as an added bonus, Boo Loo Lounge is super cute and has fantastic drinks. Like all tiki-type drinks, the cocktails take some time to make but they're well worth the wait. The bartender who was working the three times I've visited is always busting his butt. The space is quite small so it can be difficult to find a spot. But if you hit the timing just right and snag a spot at the bar or a table, it's a great place to enjoy a few cocktails! read more

Cozy tiki bar nestled next to the theatre in Orinda. Drinks are very strong, which is appreciated since some bars can be stingy with their pours. My favorite was the zombie, but I'm looking forward to trying a few other drinks from their menu on my next visit. read more

Great addition to Orinda! Boo Loo Lounge is a tiki bar that just soft opened. There's not even a sign yet. It's just to the side of the Orinda Theatre, occupying the spot that the old Cine Cuvee wine bar used to occupy. Apparently the bar has been under renovation for about 1.5 years, through the latter part of COVID, and is just now getting ready to open. They're still waiting on the ingredients for their full menu but they have a fun and tasty more limited menu for now. We tried a Ruby Daquiri which was a daquiri with port. A little sweet and quite strong. Fun tiki decoration inside the lounge and very friendly staff. I'm looking forward to bringing friends and family back here! UPDATE: went back and had a great experience with Maxton behind the stick. My wife got the Singapore Lady and really liked it; I got the Grog and thought it was one of the most complexly layered drinks I've ever had! Be warned that it's very dry, but that's on purpose so I can't fault it. So glad to have a legit tiki bar in Lamorinda. Go check them out. You'll have a great time as long as one of their primary bartenders is working that night. Oh, and their Zombie is one of the best in California. read more

Where the cool kids are: an elusive but lively bohemian paradise, *literally hidden* in downtown Orinda. As someone under 40 in Orinda, it's hard to find somewhere youthful or hip to hang out at after dark without having to drive into Oakland, Berkeley, or SF. The Fourth Bore has more of a suburban sports bar/"soccer moms"- kind of feel, (not that there's anything wrong with that...), and while Casa Orinda has got some serious "old school cool," sometimes I'm looking for someplace a little more mysterious and artsy. And Boo Loo Lounge, a campy movie lovers's speakeasy-style joint, fits the bill. It's like a cross between a fictional bar from a John Waters film and a location from a Quentin Tarantino film. They serve a mighty fine Mai Tai and Daiquiri, and are a great place to chat about the movie you've just gone to see at the Orinda Theater with your date. My only complaint is that it feels like you've got to be "in the know" to be sure exactly when they're open, and when they're not. Drinks are strong and unbalanced. Ordered the zombie for the fresh juice and all I can taste is alcohol, and I like alcohol. Added lime wedge from another's drink to make it palatable. Bartender, or his helper, not sure, busy drinking. Made a drink for a customer and one for himself. Space is cute enough, tiki records on the wall but music was crosby, stills and nash. Don't plan on returning. read more

I appreciate that Boo Loo is all about the Tiki, nothing else. The decor is there and spot on. The lounge is very small. Not a knock, just an observation. The food seemed to be kind of an afterthought, but I didn't order any so not much I can comment on there other than to say that the drinks are clearly the focus. I had two drinks: Zombie and Punch. Both were excellent. My wife had two drinks: the Daiquiri and the Grog and neither were very good. For that reason I'm going with 3 stars. read more

So me and a gf decided to find this place .,we are both not from this area .Upon arrival , we were greeted but not told that we needed to order at the bar or at a table .The inside is very, very small .
