So I have been a member of Fizz for a few months but will cancel when the 4th month is over. They claim to offer amazing deals for members and after searching online, the prices they claim are extremely inflated. I don't mind paying extra knowing they have overhead charges but do not like the deception and pushy sales pitches. With that said, the cheese boards are fantastic. We came for an extra event which was advertised as 8 tastings with small bites. We were told we had to arrive early or would not be seated. We had to wait outside in the cold without heaters even being offered. Once the tasting started, it was not what we expected. There was no information given about what we were tasting and we had to get up for our own pours. The only "small bites" offered were fries and gougeres. This is actually a huge liability with serving 8 pours and minimal food. We tried to order a cheese plate and were told we could only order off the brunch menu. Who doesn't want cheese with their wine? Then we tried to order oysters which are on the brunch menu and were told they weren't available with no apology or explanation. Later, we saw another table receive a cheeseboard and oysters. When I questioned the server he said it would take an hour, even though I tried ordering it an hour ago and was denied. He was rude and dismissive in his explanation and chalked it up to the kitchen. Very subpar and at times rude customer service. Fine bubbles. Daniel is the only decent server. I can find better service and experience elsewhere. The terrible service takes away from the whole experience. read more

We've had nothing but bad experiences with this place. First, when we went to pick up our wine and have a tasting with our baby (something we've done at many wineries nearby before), they said that not only can we not do the tasting with a baby in tow, but we cannot even _pick up_ our unopened wine to take home. We'll this obviously won't work for us as we're busy parents with young kids, so we went to cancel our membership and we find out there's a 3 month minimum. OK, fine. So one of us stands outside with the baby while the other gets the wine, and we leave, with our "included" tasting wasted. Today we returned for the second month's pickup and tasting, without children in tow, we sit outside and receive our tasting fairly quickly and then... Never see our server again for 40 minutes. So we flag someone down to get our wine, ask if we need to sign anything or if there's a check, they say no have a nice day. Well a couple hours later we get an email that they've gone and charged a 20% tip on the full price of the tasting for NONEXISTENT SERVICE. Absolutely the last straw for us. This place is full of terrible service and gotchas (we discovered in the fine print both times on their website info about the minimum membership and about charging a 20% tip if you only get the "complimentary" flight), not to mention that the wine we've received from the membership is as much as or more than what you can get the same wine for elsewhere. We will fight this charge, we will return for the third month's wine and tasting (where we will ask for the check and leave the tip WE think is appropriate for the actual service), and we never return after that, all will telling everyone we know to stay away from this awful wine bar. read more

Impressive selection of champagnes and a relatively small food menu. It's a fairly small place but bright and sorta minimalist. Comfy seats to hang out in. Service was OK (we had to ask for water a couple times and ask for refills). The champagne flights were nice (3 small pours) and we got nice explanations about the houses and the champagnes themselves. The cheese board was quite tasty with 3 types of cheeses and some smaller sides (olives, fruit, jam, etc.). We didn't get any explanation about the cheeses though, or even what type of cheese they were. Unsurprisingly it was pretty expensive for 2 flights and the cheese board, but the quality all around was quite good. Definitely a nice place to get good champagne if you're feeling like splurging on something light to eat & drink. read more

My first time there. I heard wonderful things about Fizz, so I joined the club and went there tonight to celebrate my birthday. Well, what a disappointment. The champagne was good, so was the desserts. However, the customer service was lacking. As a newbie, we were not given a tutorial, nor any ordering directions. We had to keep asking someone for answers over and over again. Our food orders were messed up; when the chef walked out to use his phone, we spoke to him about our food orders, and he looked at us as if we were aliens. There were other tables of customers, who were having an enjoyable time and the management stayed at their tables. Very cute new bubbles/wine bar in Walnut Creek! My partner and I have been in on a couple of occasions, and have enjoyed ourselves. They have a variety of bubbles, wines, as well as small plates! If I'm drinking wine, I usually need to have food with it, so wine bars that also serve food will get my (repeat) business. Plenty of indoor as well as outdoor seating. Service is friendly. My husband and I are big fans of the Fizz Champagne and Bubbles Bar in Sacramento (and are also Fizz club members), so when we heard there was a second Fizz opening up on Walnut Creek, we had to go check it out! This Walnut Creek location is larger than the Sacramento spot , which is really nice because it means more outdoor and indoor seating, but it still has the same fabulous and intimate vibe coupled with the very knowledgeable, "fizz-friendly" service. They have a super selection of champagne like nowhere else you'll find outside of Fizz (eight different sparkling and champagne FLIGHTS, 20 different champagnes and sparkling wines by the glass, 100 different bottles of champagne, beer, and wine including some large format bottles too). The prices and options are very thoughtfully curated, ranging from affordable to what I would call "baller status". This goes from per glass, per bottle, and even the flights where you'll see the "around the world" 3 glass flight for $25 or you can spring for the "prestige" flight for $125 that has Dom Perignon, Krug, Moet (there are 8 flights total so plenty in between those price points too including a "rose all day" which is 3 different sparkling roses for $40) When it comes to the bubbles at Fizz, there's really kind of something for every budget which is quite nice. They also have a small plate style kitchen menu. Their food menu is on the smaller side right now, but it's thoughtfully put together and I imagine will continue to expand. The duck fat fries with the amazing aioli are not to be missed. (They also have caviar, oysters, cheese boards, etc.) Worth mentioning, Fizz also has a champagne wine club. Members enjoy complimentary flights and access to unique and boutique champagnes not readily available elsewhere, with memberships starting at only $59. My husband and I have been Fizz club members for several years through the Sacramento Fizz (great perks - every time you pick up your bottles you get a 3 glass tasting for you AND a guest of what you're picking up and you also get discounts at Fizz locations) so we got extended a nice membership discount on our bill at Fizz Walnut Creek too when we visited (which is an appreciated membership perk!) The owner and founder of Fizz, Raymond James Irwin, LOVES champagne and is a passionate and knowledgeable sommelier. The guy speaks fluent French and his passion for bubbles is unparalleled. He cultivates relationships with champagne houses and sparkling wine makers all over the world (sometimes club members can even join on these pretty epic trips) and brings those bottles back to Fizz and the Fizz club (so most of the bottles you'll find at Fizz aren't bottles you can find elsewhere in California and certainly not that you could go pick up at your local BevMo). Every one of the 100+ bottles on the menu, Raymond could tell you about who makes it, what it tastes like, where the grapes are from, the history of it - it's pretty neat. One of my favorite things about Fizz is that it makes high quality champagne and sparkling wine accessible (one of their slogans is about "Celebrating the Everyday... Every Day!") It's a fun, fabulous place that's never pretentious but the owner's passion for bubbles really does shine through as he brings these amazing bubbles to our local communities!
