I found this place randomly on tik tok when looking for somewhere to go for our monthly brunch outing. This place was super cute with a great concept of art, music, board games, and various food and drink options. Although a bit on the pricey side, everything ordered was tasty! It can be a bit visually overstimulating for some. And when we got there the music was rather loud. But the staff was very amenable when we requested it be tuned down a bit. The volume ended up being perfect to go with our vibe of having our Sunday girls day out! Highly recommend checking this place out. It is family friendly so go with a group of friends or your kids. They also have a really adorable party room. read more

We had our daughter's 9th birthday party here, and it was like a fever dream in the best way possible! The decor is over the top, girly-pop. Daisy and her staff made everything completely turnkey for us; handling all the planning of plentiful food & cute drinks, down to the optional gift bags & slime activity. Thank you Ruby Lou's team for making this such a memorable and easy birthday party for us to enjoy! read more

It's super cute! Could be a bit over whelming if you are a minimalist. Food is great for a quick bite, we had pretzels. There's no changing table in the bathroom so my friends and I had to change our kids on the floor. read more

A really cool place for both adults and kids. The aesthetic reminds me so much of the Madonna Inn in SLO, and I mean that in the most complimentary way. Very good food/drinks and plenty of activities for the kids while mom or dad enjoy a drink. It can get busy, which is a great sign for sustainability- the staff works very hard and fast despite being pulled in a million different directions. read more

I found this place on TikTok and was so excited to see something local! Here's everything you need to know. When you come to Ruby Lou's parking is around the block, street side meter parking. So if you have the park mobile app it makes life easier, We came on a Friday night so all parking was taken. We ended up parking in the library parking lot. It closes at 8 and also used the park mobile app. It's right across the street. We strolled in and there was no hostess. We were so excited, every inch of this place, ceiling to floor is decorated. Talk about eye candy! We went to the bar and was given menus. We went to each room, it's about 3 rooms each beautifully decorated. There were some parents with wine and their kids running around. It was pretty chaotic so if you're expecting a chill place to sit down and eat, this is not for you. I repeat this is not for you. We took a seat in the main area, my daughter, 11 loved it. We had a couple of games at our table but did not play. We ordered the floats ($16 each) and I was sincerely disappointed. They tasted great but as you can tell in the picture these were so small. We also ordered the brisket nachos, pretzel bites, macarons. All of which totaled about $100 with tip. The food was mediocre. Everything just in warming trays. But the food wasn't the reason we came, it was for the vibes and we had a great time. I wouldn't say these were meals. More like tapas style for entree prices. When we return we will probably just do ice cream and chill. This is such a cute place, I was excited to visit. It truly is a child's imagination come to life. Important, after 8pm the place switches to 21 and up. I'm sure that's an entirely different experience so I can't speak much on that. read more

Went today with The Kid and this place is such a vibe. The aesthetic alone makes it worth checking out. The whole space is colorful, bright, and playful with different rooms and seating areas so it feels like you're exploring as you walk around. They have tables set up with games like Jenga, dominoes, and cards, plus things to do around the space like claw machines, cornhole, and a basketball game. It's definitely a spot where you can hang out for a while instead of just grabbing a quick bite. The bar area is cute too, with fun glassware and gold silverware that adds to the overall look of the place. The menu leans toward bougie small bites and desserts -- nachos, hot dogs, ice cream floats, pound cake à la mode, and other sweet treats. I ordered the Cloud Cake which comes covered in whipped cream, hot fudge, cherries, sprinkles, and freeze-dried marshmallows. It's definitely a dessert meant to share. The portion was generous and really fun. The price point is a little on the higher side, but if you're sharing or coming for the experience it's worth it. We even played dominoes at the table while enjoying dessert which made it even more fun. Parking in Walnut Creek can be tricky. Most of the nearby parking is metered, and even the garages usually require payment, so plan ahead. Overall this is a cute, fun spot for dessert, games, and hanging out. I'd definitely come back with friends. read more

Ruby Lou's has a ton of potential and you can tell they spent what must have been months designing every inch of the space - it's fabulous, utterly fabulous. The entire building is such a vibe that my friend adored it, so much of it were items they would buy for their house, it just breathed joy and exuberance. The main issue is family hours. Unsupervised kids were running around playing in a space that doesn't seem built for children, standing on chairs to pull stuff down from the ceiling, grabbing items off the walls, picking up non-empty glasses, throwing things - it was a bit like being in a ball pit. Based on how rambunctious the kids were a childfree room or childfree days would likely make the space more inviting for professionals to drop in. As it is, waiting until 8pm for a peaceful spot to have some cocktails or mocktails and socialize just isn't in the cards for many, and they're likely losing out on the team-building after work Friday crowd that makes Luna Sea so popular. Ruby Lou's would be great for birthday parties and I could even see it doing well with tea parties if they had tea service on the weekends. I know a lot of adults who love the Kawaii vibe and would absolutely jump at the chance to book if they added in a high tea or a bubbles and macarons evening, I just think they need to hone in on who their customer is. All in all, the food was great and a step above the simple bar snacks I was expecting and the service was super sweet and helpful, so Ruby Lou's is a fantastic addition to Walnut Creek and we most definitely see ourselves coming back. read more

I went Sunday right when it open so we pretty much had the place to ourselves. Owner was very helpful and explained everything. My kids loved it. Great place for photos. Food was good for snacks. Definitely not dinner style. But good place for snacks or dessert. Ice cream was really good. We ordered a few items. Its definitely pricey so keep that in mind. But the place is well decorated. I figured that's what you are paying for lol. Definitely social media content worthy. Bring cash if you want to pay for games. I liked how the water was self service and it was cute glasses. Parking is paid. I had a good time read more

So exciting for this place. I got to talk to Meg and she went over all the delicious circus theme foods she's having during the soft launch. Her welcoming service gave me a smile of all the things to come - including all the ice cream choices they currently have. Thanks Meg! Probably tell by the pictures or just from walking by, the place is beautifully decorated. You'll come in for a drink/snack and would have to snap some photos! Very excited for up and coming place. The hours are not set in stone yet so check back soon! read more

Gahhh, it kills me to give Ruby Lou's only 3 starts because it has SO much potential. You can tell a lot of love went into putting this place together. Aesthetically it passes for a kid friendly restaurant/ bar while also passing for a fun adult only environment for a night out. That said, the food and drinks were a major miss! That's ok though, you guys have time to figure it out -- changes do need to be made though if you want to last. 1. Adults want bougie cocktails. This means fresh ingredients, not vodka with dive bar mixers. Hire a mixologist who can turn this place into a a cocktail heaven! 2. It's clear that you're not a restaurant but instead closer to bar bites. Nobody wants snacks they can get at a little league snack shack. They want delicious food! If you haven't been to chateau, I really think you should. Their food and drinks are the lane you should be driving in. You can do it! Make the pivot! read more

This place is a visual wonderland but unfortunately, that's its best feature. I took my girls there on a Sunday afternoon and it was fairly quiet. We were greeted, given menus and told we could sit anywhere. My girls enjoyed the selection of table and large free standing games. We ordered the 6 unicorn macarons and I'm fairly certain they were the frozen ones you can buy at Trader Joe's. They just added glitter to them and charged triple the price. That was disappointing. The other big issue for me was cleanliness. There were tables with dishes on them, popcorn on floor in some areas and some of the tabletops looked like they needed to be wiped down. Lots of potential but overall a miss for me. read more

We had such a fun time at RubyLou's! Walking in honestly felt like stepping into a girly, pink, magical version of Disneyland. The decor is absolutely amazing -- every corner is picture-worthy and so thoughtfully designed. It's such a fun spot for photos and just soaking in the vibe. The claw machines were a blast, and the ice cream was super fun too. It really feels like an experience, not just a place to eat. We've heard they're working on expanding and improving their unique cocktail menu so stay tuned and perhaps stick to the wine and beer for the time being. That said, it's such a unique and exciting spot that we'll definitely be back once it's been running a little more smoothly. Overall, such a cute and magical place to visit! Daisy the owner is an absolute gem! read more

I was so excited to bring my 11 year old daughter and her friend here. I'm so disappointed. The place was trashed from a private party this morning. None of the board games have any game pieces in the box. I asked them about it and they just said "sorry." As I waited at the bar to ask about the board games and to order, several people just went about their business and ignored me for way too long. $12 for a small basket of stale popcorn. It tasted like the yellow stuff you get in a big bag and it's excessively salty. If it was freshly popped, it was hours ago. 1 star for the esthetic and 1 star for the music over the speakers. The 11 year old girls didn't last an hour and asked to leave. read more

We liked all of the food but ended up spending over $100 for snacks for 3 people. Another issue I had was that it wasn't really accessible for disabled people. They have a very small elevator for a wheelchair but not everyone who is disabled needs the use of one. There were two small steps that were tricky to navigate but not impossible. The final challenge was that I had two neurodivergent young adults who became overwhelmed as the restaurant started to fill up closer to six on a week night. We were actually scouting this out for our nonprofit group that serves the neurodivergent community but both ND young adults that came with me didn't feel there was enough for them to want to come back a second time. Really cute concept that is unfortunately overpriced and isn't inclusive of everyone. read more

Celebrated my girlfriend's birthday here with a mixed group of men and women and while we all agreed we wouldn't come here weekly, we did enjoy it. The venue is a visual smorgasbord! Creative in many ways- 5 star for the ambiance. We did enjoy their cocktail floats but next time, we'll save them for the last cocktail of the night. I would highly recommend RL for a young girl party (boys included!) and a ladies night out for cocktails. NOTE- RL is a new business and like all new businesses things take time. I look forward to an enhanced cocktail menu (the owner Daisy is a mixologist!) and some healthier food options. read more

I came here with my best friend and unfortunately had a really disappointing experience from start to finish. When I walked in, I wasn't greeted at all. There were only two staff members in the back of the bar and one other customer they were focused on the entire time, so we had no idea how service worked. After waiting a bit, we ended up going to the bar ourselves and ordered two drink, a lemon drop and a Moscow mule, then went to sit in another room. It took about 30 minutes to get our drinks, which was surprising considering we were basically the only people there. We also ordered a charcuterie board, and by the time it came out, it was already 9:45 PM and they close at 10. While we were trying to eat and talk, right at 10 PM someone got on a mic and made an announcement that sounded like they were telling us they were closing. It felt very impersonal and unnecessary, especially since we were the only two customers there, they could have just come up and spoken to us directly. Then at 10:03, the bartender actually turned off the lights in the room we were sitting in while we were still finishing up. They claimed he was testing the lights. That felt extremely disrespectful. I went up to pay and expressed how disappointed I was with the service, the long wait times, lack of communication, and overall experience. The staff offered us another drink, which I declined. On our way out, my friend forgot her jacket, so I went back in to get it and asked to speak to a supervisor. The person who turned off the lights off had been the supervisor the whole time and yet not apologized or nothing.I explained again how rude and unprofessional everything felt, and he offered vouchers, which I also declined because I have no interest in returning. We spent about $75 here, and between the poor service, long waits, and mediocre drinks, it was not worth it. The place might look nice, but customer service really matters, and this experience felt dismissive and disrespectful. I wouldn't recommend coming here. read more

Cute place with potential. The girl working the counter was helpful when we first walked in, but unfortunately that's where the positives ended. We were there for about 12 minutes total. After being told we could order either at the counter or via QR code, we sat in the second dining/playroom area. It quickly felt chaotic, parents enjoying $22 glasses of wine while not really supervising their kids made it hard to relax. The menu situation was frustrating. Items listed on the physical menu weren't available or didn't appear online, which led to my husband standing at the counter for 7 minutes getting redirected multiple times just trying to ask basic questions. We tried moving to the main dining area, which has some claw machine-style games, but those are cash-only, with no ATM on site. Apparently, the solution is to walk a couple blocks in the rain... hard pass. After seeing the food, it looked mediocre at best. Definitely not worth $18 for a hot dog or dressed-up popcorn. Overall, it feels like a place with a lot of hype but not much follow-through. Staff seemed like a mix of helpful and overwhelmed, with some just acting like typical clueless teens. Ended up feeling like a waste of time and gas to get there. read more

This place has great potential! I loved the fun vibe! Hoping they decide to have a broader choice of drinks. Service was a little slow for a simple cranberry vodka, and since I was able to order from my table was expecting it to be delivered to my table, but it ended up sitting on the bar waiting for me! Did notice that the dirty glasses on the tables when we arrived were still there when we left a couple of hours later but I'm sure things like that will get better with time. Was thinking they need a reason for people to want to come after 8 o'clock like a DJ and dancing or something. Draw people in! Loved the idea and decor, hoping they work out the kinks. read more

Cute ambiance but rude owner, overpriced menu and they even charged $12 for a small bowl of popcorn we didn't order. I came w a couple friends and tried speaking with the owner about how cute the place was and how we were going to share it with our friends she replied with "I don't need your help!" in quite a rude manner. She was also rolling her eyes at us when we spoke w her. We were nothing but kind and trying to support a local business. The ambiance is so fun! The best part of the place. That's it. That's where it ends. The service is pretty dismal. I was there with five people, and I can't even count how many times each one of us had to go up and have our bill fixed. I said I wanted to buy a drink and the gentleman behind the bar slid a melted drink my way and said "I made it for her but do you want it" "her meaning another woman behind the bar. It was not a fresh drink... the menu items they offered were very very very, very basic Costco food with about a 300% up charge. One average scoop of average ice cream is over $10. I was really hoping to love this place but I think they kind of need to work on their service and menu and customer relations and what is appropriate and inappropriate. read more

She's brought to life, nostalgic childhood memories of Pee-wee Herman's house and life of punky Brewster with Alice in the Wonderland put together. Great place to bring the kids. Food is mid, very expensive and not spectacular, but that's okay since you come here for the vibes. Games on every table and tons for kids to do. For such a family friendly place, it's odd that there is NO changing table in the restrooms. The room in the back can be reserved for private events. We spent about 3 hours here with little kids and would come back if we didn't like so far. Next time we'll eat before we come and just have drinks and dessert read more

This place is...confusing. They want to make it inclusive of families but also an adults only lounge and what they settled on didn't land well. We went there with our kids and it is insanely overpriced. A small tiny scoop of ice cream with a few chocolate chunk pieces was $11 with tip. The menu is sparse and then the adult drinks are the ones you'd first try when turning 21. Also, during the family hours the music was so loud and playing sounds with inappropriate language. Save that for the 8 pm and on crowd. Finally, it doesn't feel like the games are organized or cleaned and the shag carpet will not age well. It could be cool but they should pick one demographic and improve the quality and price. read more

This establishment is hectic and overwhelming. Not a chill bring your kid to have a drink. If you want to pretend you're an 8 year old little girl I guess it might be your vibe but definitely not for me. I'm very concerned about the communal toys. We founds smears of nasty stuff on the little balls and it doesn't seem they're cleaning them well or often enough. I'd skip this one and try literally any beer garden instead. read more

People, you've been warned - avoid this spot at all costs... May look good on IG, but you're going to be let down big-time. Food is gross and very overpriced - place is messy and borderline unsafe for 3-yr olds (glass stemware and large-format Jenga on glass tables? Staff was very sweet and did the best they could, but need more training and onsite management (zero escalation points in sight). Mark my words... this spot will be outta biz in 12-18 months unless they take a good hard look at operations and make the necessary changes. the interior decor is the highlight here. they offer a good variety of food/drjnks but be warned of the price since you're really paying for the amenities and the aesthetics. there's cornhole and a few other tabletop games scattered across the rooms, but I think they could use more variety of games since if some parties are already using some, your choices are pretty limited. overall super cute establishment perfect for kiddos! read more

The music was way too loud and not a great selection. It took forever to get our order and come to find out it was already pre made in the fridge just never brought out. The server also never brought over our drinks. When I went to ask they ended up looking through a pile of receipts to make sure I ordered drinks! They never found the receipt and took my word for it. $30 for a small plate of three crackers, a less than a handful of cubed cheese, two tablespoons of mustard and jam, a few olives and three slices of thin sliced deli meat is insane. You're definitely paying for the aesthetic because it looks cute. We took some nice pictures which made our 30 minute drive worth it but don't expect great service or good food. read more
