This is my second time coming to this restaurant and the service, drinks, and food remain good. We sat outside on the patio since it was nice weather. I ordered a torta de pollo that was flavorful and honestly two people might be able to share it. We also ordered the guacamole which was okay it didn't have as much flavor However I ordered a drink called Guava Dreams. If you enjoy mezcal you should definitely try it. The server mentioned that the restaurant has happy hour every day from 3-6 p.m! so I will definitely return for that
Came here for happy hour last week. The outside decor is cute. We felt like we were back in Arizona again! I liked how when we sat down the bartender gave us each waters right away. Especially since it was like 98 degrees outside. I wish they had more food options on the happy hour menu. Like add a few dollars for some meat in the quesadilla. Or add meat in the nacho fries. I just wanted more protein. Overall I did enjoy the foods we had and the prices were not bad at all. Drinks were good too! Refreshing!
Bar Camino has a great location by the creek to have a drink and eat some tacos during their happy hour. Food tastes pretty good, the drinks are strong, and the staff is very friendly. On seating: it's more ideal to sit in the back patio if it's open as the front outdoor area faces the street and can be noisy with car noises.

Bar Camino is a large, lively restaurant with a lot going on--in a good way. The indoor decor is really interesting and eclectic, and if I remember correctly, each room has its own vibe or theme, which made the space feel fun and thoughtfully designed. Service was great, and food came out very quickly. Portions were solid, and everything we tried was genuinely tasty. That said, I came in with pretty high expectations after seeing a lot of hype on Instagram and TikTok calling this one of the best Mexican spots in Walnut Creek. While I definitely think the food is good and the overall experience is enjoyable, I personally still lean toward more casual, less upscale Mexican food. If I'm craving Mexican, I'd honestly still pick a no-frills spot like Tacos Walnut Creek. All that said, I can absolutely see why people love Bar Camino. It's a great place for a fun night out, the space is beautiful, and the food is well done--it just comes down to personal preference. Still glad I tried it, and I'd come back for the experience.
My friends told me about this place, so I had to come try it with them when I was in the area. Don't even think about looking for free parking--there is NONE. The residential parking requires a special permit, so it's best to park at the meters and pay. Happy Hour (HH) is offered at the bar and on the patio, so make sure to tell them you're there for HH when you get seated. The drinks are strong and tasty--and most importantly, they're only $5! We ordered all the HH snack items except the nacho fries because they were out. Everything was yummy! We got four steak tacos in the first round, and the steak slices were thin as paper. Then we ordered another steak taco, and that one came with a full steak-sized piece! Definitely coming back for HH. Did I mention HH is daily from 4-6 PM?
Quick dinner after shopping in the area. Service was very friendly and attentive but food was mediocre. Salsas were not flavorful, enchilada sauces lacked flavor, but the guacamole was fresh and generous. Margaritas hit the spot!
An excellent Happy Hour ($7 margaritas). We also had the margarita flight (not on the Happy Hour menu) but very affordable ($21). We got a delicious margarita, it almost tasted like a churro (it's the one in the middle of the photo). We also had chips, salsa and guacamole, as well as the flautas. The patio is a great place to hangout, and you can even bring your laptop if you want to get some work done.
Amazing food. Finally a place that offers fresh chips and salsa! The guacamole is actually fresh. I had the Mercado salad with steak. Steak was perfectly cooked. All fresh ingredients. My husband had the Tex mex plate. Very generous portions. I especially loved the service!! KAREN our server and she was amazing. Very attentive and kind. It's so hard to find good service these days. Would recommend and definitely coming back to try other dishes. Great for a family of 5 and baby.
The restaurant is very cute. The staff was very nice. We asked for chips and salsa and were brought guacamole which was left at the table. When I mentioned we had ordered salsa they picked up the guacamole after it had been at the table for 10 minutes. The chips are tasty but very greasy. The carnitas is so fatty and tasteless. One meal didn't come until the rest of the table was done eating. The burritos were the best of the food options and we were a party of 8.
Great place to hold a birthday celebration. A friend of mine threw her birthday party here in their outdoor space that look like a greenhouse. The ambience was so cool. It had a lot of of cacti and Mexican paper stars from the ceiling and it was the perfect weather. Pretty much anything from their menu is great. I had gone here before when this place was called Maria Maria. The food is still awesome, especially their enchiladas, tacos, sopas. I typically get their house margarita, but want to get the Horchatalada- a pina colada slushie with horchata. Will definitely come back but will avoid the server who waited on us. She added extra tacos to our plate without asking and charged us for the extra taco and also complained that since she split the bill between several of us in the party she wasn't happy with the tip she received.
Meeting up with my friends while visiting Cali and was surprised that Carlos Santana restaurant is no longer here and Bar Camino has taken over the spot. I have not been in Cali for 5 years but the server provided background as to what happened. I love the decor in and outside of this place. The front door is everything! I wanted an item that is no longer on the menu, however, I opted for the Nachos. Also, I read the strongest drink on the menu was the Good Riddance. The Nachos was ok, I don't feel Like it was the best I have had. I do like the ample toppings. The drink was ok as well. This place is a cool spot to mingle and enjoy friends with a cool ambiance. Not very flavorful, but a cool spot. I would try again, but with something else like the Fajitas per se. The service was great, one thing to add....you do have to pay for salsa and chips. Just FYI. This was not disclosed to us prior to ordering.
I've been here a few times and have always loved it, most recently I went with a friend for happy hour and had such a good time! They have AMAZING happy hour deals (so worth it) and overall really good food and service! My friend and I were served by Brittany and she was so knowledgeable, helpful, and fun!! We came to Bar Camino for a double date night and had been looking forward to trying it. The restaurant was busy, but the service never skipped a beat--our servers were friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the meal. We started with the chips and salsa, and they were a great way to kick things off. The chips tasted fresh and were perfectly crispy. Both the red and green salsas had really good flavor without being overly spicy. We also ordered spicy margaritas, and the bartender definitely knew what they were doing. The drinks were well-balanced with just the right amount of heat. For our entrees, we ordered the burrito, carne plate, enchiladas, and the bee salad. The standout was definitely the carne--it was incredibly tender and practically melted in your mouth. It was cooked perfectly. The burrito was absolutely massive and packed with flavor, while the enchiladas tasted homemade and were comforting and delicious. Everyone at the table left happy. Overall, it was a great dining experience with delicious food, excellent drinks, and attentive service despite how busy they were. We'll definitely be back--especially because their brunch menu is next on our list! read more

Came here for brunch because the reviews are outstanding for the Margaritas. I'm not even going to front... the Margs hit. We both had the frozen strawberry house Margaritas and we loved every bit of it. We bought 2 lol. The guacamole was delicious as well. Not too acidic. I ordered the quest birria entree and my friend ordered the tacos. We throughly enjoyed our food. Very well seasoned and served hot. I love that they give coleslaw and avocado on the side. Everything was tasty. The waitress was great with her reccomendationa. She never gave me her name, but thank you. Lastly, I am unable to give them a 5 star because we waited about an hr for our food to come. Yes, it gave us plenty of time to talk... but that was ridiculous. What made it worse is that our original waitress did not tell us anything. She came to see if we needed another drink, but she didn't bother to tell us our food was coming late and the reason. I didn't appreciate that at all. It wasn't until Nikita came in for her shift that she informed us that our food was late because the machine that printed ordershad an issue. This was at 1:29 pm.. we ordered around 12:40 pm or so. I explained to her that I was going to submit a review because I'm both a Google reviewer and a Yelp Elite and this was horrible to hear due to the lack of communication from both the manager and our waitress. Sadly.. the deserved 5 starts up until that point. Andrew (Manager) finally brought our food out with an apology at some point. Prob more like a 4.5. Overall, great experience! I've been meaning to visit Bar Camino for awhile so when my long distance friend mentioned she'll be in the area, we finally made the stop. Parking: no restaurant lot available. Park at a meter on the street. If you don't want to cross the street, park at a meter behind the restaurant on the library side and walk the pathway behind the restaurant over the creek. Ambiance: so beautiful and fun! love all the colorful art, the neon lights, and the overall vibe of the restaurant. Looks like a great place for casual, celebratory dinner or hang out. Service: So attentive and quick. Admittedly, we arrived during early happy hour time so there weren't as many people there and staff was readily available. But even as it filled up, we were always quickly helped. Food: a great happy hour selection for the perfect "girl dinner" of small bites and margaritas. If you visit on Tuesday, they have the taco specials available all day as well. Their happy hour is Monday to Sunday from 4 PM - 6 PM in the bar and patio. Snacks and select drinks are $5 ea. + protip: if you want chips + salsa, upgrade to the salsa + guac during happy hour. Same price so you basically get the guac for free. + nacho fries were good, but I wish it had meat! + a la carte tacos come at a great price, but only the carnitas, veggie, and chicken ones. Add $2 for the quesabirria, shrimp, fish, or steak (so $7ea) + the margaritas are strongggg and are such a steal at the $5 happy hour price. Add a flavor (mango, strawberry, etc) for $2. We also ordered a couple of items off the regular menu. + trio de sopes ($14) - tasted good, but felt small for the price. + el burrito ($19) sub skirt steak (+$4): a huge burrito with enough to take home! Their desserts look great but we were so full from the happy hour snackin', I'll have to try those next time! read more
I attended a party here in Walnut Creek. I normally don't like Mexican food but to my surprise, the food here tasted pretty good. We were served nachos for starters, filling up with a glass of margarita. Someone said, hold off on the nachos, the meals are coming and you'll feel too full to enjoy it. Here are the dishes they served. All were very filling and delectable. When the last dish came, we were so full that I had to split one quesabirria with the hubs. The flan dessert came and we couldn't resist it. Sooo good! It was a great party, service was outstanding and food, yummers. Thumbs up to Bar Camino! read more

Met some friends at Bar Camino for lunch. The restaurant has a great space with dining inside and outside. Our waiter was really helpful and friendly and kept our drinks filled. We started with chips and guacamole which were very tasty. I ordered the tacos al pastor. The flavor was good, but the meat had too much fat for me to really enjoy. I also tried the tacos birrias. The meat was tender, the flavor was very good and I enjoyed the dipping sauce. Their menu had many other items, including soups, salads, mains and desserts. The location is on the edge of the shopping area so there is easy access but just enough distance from the shopping madness and with public parking right across the street. This was a great lunch spot to enjoy meeting friends and enjoying some nibbles. read more

Bar Camino was our third stop on our taco crawl this weekend and overall we enjoyed our food. For drinks, we split an Orange Fizz, which was delicious. We also split the dessert plantains and ice cream and it was probably our favorite dish of the day. The plantains just flowed so wonderfully with the richness of the ice cream - absolutely delectable! The cod of the fish taco itself was well battered and quite tasty, but the balance of the other ingredients - the cilantro, pico de gallo, tartar, and guacamole just didn't work together and the tortilla recipe (I believe they were handmade) wasn't the best. The dish could probably do with a re-work. Finally a couple neutrals - the service was fairly slow, even with an almost empty house, and while the patio was comfortable it felt dated. We would definitely return but next time would probably try out a few other items on the menu. read more

Bar Camino is our go to Mexican date night spot! Very cute- tasty drinks and food. Their drinks that say spicy ARE spicy so beware! They are also on the stronger side. Food is filling! You may get away with ordering some appetizers for dinner and be content. Never had a problem with the staff other than they are busy- normal since the restaurant is always busy. I was in town visiting family and they brought me here for dinner. We were greeted immediately. The decor was very cute. The margaritas were fantastic! I had the enchiladas which were delicious! We had a reservation at 630 on Friday for 3 and we were rushed the entire time we ate. The server came over every 10 min to ask if we needed anything. Asked if we can order drinks, asked if we needed boxes while we were eating and another guy asked us the same thing. The practically took my friends food from under her fork as she was eating. The food was good and drinks were too but I can't believe the service for a Friday at 630. Very disappointing read more

Stopped in here for a later dinner with a good friend. Place was quiet but the bar and restaurant were stylishly decorated and warm/inviting. Our waitress was great getting our food and drinks out timely. The food was hot and well seasoned. Would go back when in the area again. read more

Best. Chile. Relleno. Ever. This place really exceeded my expectations. I sat at the bar and the bar tender was so helpful in making drink and food recommendations. Service was 10/10!! You need to get the chile relleno. I also added Birria for some more fantastic flavor, not needed but so delish. It was massive so there was enough leftovers for dinner the next night! Ambiance was so cute, I would definitely recommend if you are in Walnut Creek! read more

I have now been to Bar Camino a few times with groups of friends and family. It has become a reliable favorite for entertaining guests in downtown Walnut Creek, due to the high quality of food and drinks, spacious and inviting dining areas, and efficient service. That said, it's a bit pricier than some equally good Mexican food options outside of downtown. We usually get guacamole and chips to start, which also comes with two salsas. They have great tacos - the pescado was my favorite. I recently tried the Machaca Beef enchiladas, which were very good. For a side dish, I recommend the maduros (sweet plantains). They also make great margaritas and cocktails, and I love the selection of non-alcoholic mocktails too! I recently enjoyed the Happiness & Sunshine mocktail. It's easy to make a reservation via their website or OpenTable. Parking is easy next door at the Library garage. read more
