Cool late night vibe during the week. However, I hear the weekends are crazy. The bartenders are cool and attentive. I don't think they have any food.

Strong cocktails. Young crowd. Nice blend of new and old school music. Small dance floor but still a great vibe on a Saturday night.

First time here and the vibe was good. Crowd had good energy. Blend of all cultures and music.

An acquaintance I came here with last night said: "Last time I was here, they played Bauhaus, The Cure, and The Smiths." Hmmm... really? I wonder if they know the lyrics to Panic: Burn down the disco Hang the blessed DJ Because the music that they constantly play IT SAYS NOTHING TO ME ABOUT MY LIFE Hang the blessed DJ [...] Hang the DJ Hang the DJ Hang the DJ... This place has so much potential it's not even funny. They're trying the whole We're so cool let's make this a secret club kind of place. The patrons are mostly twentsomething Creekers. There's money to be spent here... this ain't your typical grunge underground avant-garde crowd. Hell... they even got a dress code! Imagine that... That's totally fine by me, but then cater to that crowd with your selection of music. Right now, the look of this place reminds me of the underground goth clubs I went to in SoMA in the late 80s, early 90s, minus the OD'ing junkies that you had to step over to get inside. Personally here's the artists I'd be playing in heavy rotation: Joy Division, Tones on Tail, Jesus & Mary Chain, Sisters of Mercy liven it up with some Happy Mondays & Stone Roses, The Streets... Throw in some angst when the crowd needs to be reminded to drink... maybe some Dead Milkmen here and there. The playlist doesn't need to be melancholic, but get your musical priorities in order!!! I'm giving 'em 3 stars for potential and because the people working the place were all very friendly and approachable. My sister in law misplaced her purse and the bouncer put it safely away for her behind the bar. Back in my SoMA club days, that purse would have been ripped to bits and whatever liquidity could be extracted would already have been mainlined into people's veins. So having a cool avant-garde club that is more safe... that's pretty cool. And I think they should cater to the Monday - Friday crowd who ain't got the time to make it to the City. What say you? There's no DJ... it's a jukebox. Hmmm... well, then... sometime it might be good idea to take power *FROM* the people.

Is this spot open now? I'm looking to go somewhere for drinks and more drinks 😆

    Yes open everyday.

    How well do they card?

Don't expect to get a drink without a card. They wouldn't even let my friend in with her expired ID.

Our group of 3 sat outside in their lovely side alleyway and feasted on 6 delicious shared small plates plus their scrumptious dessert sampler. This was plenty of food for all of us, although I might have been able to force down one more small plate since everything was so delectable. We ordered: -- Cacio e pepe biscuit -- Esquites (Mexican street corn) -- Empanadas -- Tacos al pastor -- Ceviche tostadas -- Alaskan black cod The black cod dish was seriously incredible and a standout amid the other wonderful dishes. The waiter mentioned it had been on their menu for 22 years and that people traveled there to try it. I can believe it! Speaking of service, it was exceptional. Along with our friendly main waiter, there were other staff refilling water glasses and changing table settings quickly as needed. We waited on nothing but also never felt interrupted. Since Va da Vi IS a wine bar, I should mention that wine was also wonderful. I tried their Pinot Noir flight and enjoyed all 3 of the 3 oz samplings, especially the 2023 Status Quo and the 2023 "Klee" by Roots Wine Co. Is it pricey? Well, a little, but not for the quality. I've eaten at places just as expensive and left far less satisfied. I can see the bill adding up quickly for a group who wants a huge meal, but if you're into just sipping and nibbling on amazing food and wine, come!

The filet with truffle butter literally melted in my mouth, and the lobster was cooked and presented beautifully. The salted caramel espresso martini was DIVINE! Every dish was prepared perfectly and exceeded our expectations. What truly made our night, though, was our server and bartender, Anamaria. She was the definition of professional, personable, and attentive. Every drink and every food order was delivered exactly as requested, and she struck the perfect balance between being friendly and giving us space to enjoy our meal. Great food is important, but exceptional service is what separates a good restaurant from a m one. Even the best meal can be overshadowed by poor service. Anamaria did the exact opposite--she elevated an already incredible dining experience into a perfect evening. Her attention to detail, warm personality, and professionalism are exactly what hospitality should look like. If you're dining at Fleming's in Walnut Creek, ask for Anamaria. She handled us flawlessly and never missed a beat. The wings are so good and they said the fried picked were delicious. I had the watermelon strawberry lemonade (Double) and it was so refreshing and it definitely hit the mark. For food, I was so indecisive because i did not want anything too heavy. I wound up getting the sliders (2 brisket and 1 tri tip) and a side salad. They were so yummy to my tummy. The flavor was great and I added the honey BBQ (All BBQ sauces are on the table already). That set it off just right. They're prices are moderate. I mean it is BBQ. Also, my food came out hot. Unfortunately, I have to take a star off because one of my Soror's food had to be reheated and she was not very happy about that. However...I am to going to go back and try it again.

The combo came with 2 sides and we chose mac and cheese and waffle fries with house rub. We started with the cauliflower bites, sticky flavor with comeback sauce. All the meats had good flavor. The pork had a slight sourness that was nice. Most of it was drier than I'd like though. Only the pork belly was actually flavorful, juicy, and tender. Mac and cheese and fries were both fine but won't be writing home about this. Cauliflower was pretty good, could be crunchier with more breading. The table had 4 different BBQ sauces. I really liked the tin roof non spicy. It was nice to have that many options. The staff were nice but maybe a little too attentive. They cleared our water cups before we were ready to go.

Beyond that, I can't say a lot to recommend it. Service was very slow and the server was absent-minded. My friend and I each ordered an entree. She ordered the fettuccine with prawns. After a 40 minute wait, the dishes were served. My friend said her pasta was good. It was a rich and creamy sauce but not overly thick and she said the prawns were very good. She asked for some fresh ground pepper or a pepper mill but the server said they have none and seemed confused by the request. I ordered the fish and chips. The first time they brought it out, the fish batter was soggy, the fries barely cooked, and the tartar sauce heated to the point of separation. It took me a little while to flag down the waiter and once I did he offered to have it warmed or remade. There was no acknowledgment that it was cold and it had obviously come up long before it was served. When it came back out, the two pieces of fish were crispy, but they had absolutely no flavor. There were about 12-15 shoestring fries on the plate, also without any flavor. At this point I ate most of one piece because my blood sugar was dropping and I had no other option. There was no interest in taking home the rest of the dish. I can imagine that a huge crowd might have thrown off the staff but when we sat down at a table on the patio, it was prior to the start of the game and there were only two other 2-tops seated. This could not be chalked up to a World Cup match rush. It just wasn't a pleasant experience and I would not go again.
