Booked a table for a dozen and 10 seniors showed up! My first visit. Our server Michelle was honest, thoughtful and attentive. She helped us pace our lunch from beers, appetizers to entrees. Did not feel rushed. The food was well prepared and decent portions. My frustration is that even though Michelle was careful in taking orders sequentially, when the runners brought the food out, it was in random order and they would stand and shout: "BLT", "Chicken Caesar", "burger" etc. Needs an improvement in the process. My coworkers had a second happy hour event here yesterday. We probably had close to 30 employees/professionals there late afternoon. Restaurant was at around 30% capacity with us there (generously 10% without us there). We had a small indoor section to ourselves, but it was incredibly loud and pretty hot in the building. After a while, I follow my coworkers outside onto the patio and they're moving around a few tables so we can sit together and chat. Next thing I know, the manager is out and reprimanding everyone in our group and telling us that we should not have moved and the staff should be the ones moving the tables. Things got really heated even though most of us didn't know what was going on and were generally apologetic. I was telling my coworkers that I hadn't had that stern of a talking to in probably 20 years. Even if the customer was in the wrong, there's a baseline level of temperament that should be met and I thought this manager went way past that and in just a matter of seconds. It's really hard to separate that event from everything else, but I thought the fried appetizers were good (onion rings, wings). Also enjoyed the pretzels - soft with tasty cheese sauce. Servers were quite nice as well. We had a pretty good experience the first time, so don't want to have this review solely on two minutes of someone having a bad day. read more

Walt from Walt's Adventures and it is Thanksgiving 2025. I am here in Walnut Creek, California at The Greenery Restaurant. We arrived for our reservation time and were directed to our table. I then noticed that we were surrounded by 7 elevated TVs. The surroundings were quite loud above the average conversation level. Our meals had a great presentations and the proteins were good. I found the stuffing a bit over salted but very tasty nonetheless. The pumpkin pie was delicious but, for some, may have more cinnamon than desired. 4 of 5 stars because our waters were refilled when we asked and we had to wait for the bill longer than desired. The Greenery stepped up for the holidays to assist the community in giving thanks. For all of my adventures, I thank them for offering the traditional meal. read more

We went to the greenery for lunch. It is so loud inside. The servers were really nice, but it was very slow service and it took a long time to order. I felt like the food was mediocre. I had a crab melt sandwich and I didn't really like it that much. There was a lot of cheese like a slice above and below it and the crab was a little bit slimy and it didn't seem like crab. It looked like slices of turkey, which is really weird, but I will stick with going to escape from fisherman's wharf cafe Down the street for my crab sandwich. We had to sit outside - the music was so loud you couldn't have a conversation to the point where I starting getting a headache. We sat outside because of that. Stopped by recently and had a great visit. Lots of memories at Diablo Hills and the Greenery and happy to report the service and food were as great as ever. We had the Back 9 Apps platter (two orders) and a variety of cocktails. The Back 9 was the perfect option as it had some of everyone's favorites. Polished them both off. Had lunch today. The portions are large and can be easily split between two people. I had Hawaiian burger that was very good. My friends had omelettes including a vegetarian omelet which was packed with a variety of different vegetables. The omelet came with hash browns which they thought were delicious. After a busy morning photographing at the nearby Ruth Bancroft Garden, I went here for lunch with 2 friends. The restaurant's interior is attractive. The room was full of men who were wearing golf clothes. They do have a parking lot. I ordered a taco salad, a special on the day we went. Although it was just average, if I came again I would order the salad if it was offered. I did not like it enough to rush back. All the female servers were dressed in black and had very low-cut tops that showed a lot of cleavage when they leaned over the tables. I was amazed as I watched this show. We played a round then settled in for some cold beer and an early dinner. Nice varied menu but we waited til 5pm so we could also choose from the dinner menu. Friendly server and greeting from the host. We started with beer and the Giant Pretzel and the Back 9 appetizer sampler; the sampler was basically everything fried: fries, wings, tenders, calamari. It was decent. The pretzel was really good. We ordered the Prime Rih, Spicy Slaw burger, fish and chips, Greenery Grill sandwich and the California Dreaming burger. My prime rib was a large cut and tender, but could've used a little more flavor, creamy horseradish, and the baked potato was kinda soggy. Fish and chips needed tartar sauce and lemon. We used The Greenery's private room for a Celebration of Life and I'm so glad we did. The staff was helpful and there for us throughout the process. Debbie was so helpful in making sure all deadlines were remembered and that we had everything we needed for our event. The food was outstanding and the day of staff headed up by Amber were professional and respectful during our event. Amber made sure we ran smoothly and never had to worry or be stressed about anything the entire event. I recently went to The Greenery for both Thanksgiving dinner and Easter brunch. The food was actually quite delicious at both events. The price was great for Thanksgiving but pricey for Easter brunch. We had a large group, so we were seated in the larger convention area - so the ambiance wasn't that great. I would recommend a smaller group and sitting in the main restaurant area - much cozier. The service in our area was lacking on both occasions - again, I think because we were sitting in a room away from the main restaurant. Definitely recommended for its food - just make sure you sit in the main area for better service. read more

Thanksgiving dinner was a good value at $26. Green salad was crisp, ranch was tasty. Plates were loaded with a sliced white meat turkey loaf which was quite good, tender thick pieces; gravy was perfection. But veggies were severely undercooked, served with a very small scoop dressing and mashed potatoes, the plate needed bigger scoops & less meat. Plain white rolls; pumpkin pie topped with a tiny dab of whip. Football noise was deafening. Server was a real miss, didn't write anything down, messed up the orders, the saving grace was the secondary staff which took care of everything our main server forgot. Service from Marcie is great! Not so much from Russ or the other gal bartender. I'm going through a difficult time and go from John Muir Hospital to visit my mother who is in coma. Made it a practice to come by and have a coffee or a drink regularly as most people are nice. Came in two nights ago upset that a doctor was saying my mother was close to death. Had a drink and spoke with some of the patron I think one was the owner, and Indian lady forgot her name. Get kicked out and screamed at and told I can't be served any longer. Just say Cool it with the drama and it's done. Hope Marcie makes it out there but these clowns can go work at a nightclub or something. read more

The Greenery is perfect for a local low key date night. The menu is full with classic meals. My personal favorite is the Diablo Club. There are plenty of TV's that have any sport you want to watch. The staff is very friendly and the service is always great. There is seating indoors and outdoors and things are very relaxed. STAY AWAY!!! Tried this place a few times. During the day and also at night for their entertainment. Food is ok I would say the breakfast is the best thing they have. Service is eh. I've sat on the dining side and even at the bar with friends and either way we are always left without being able to find our server or bartender. They seem to always be behind the bar wall. They disappear with shots and it's obvious when they come back with all their own glasses and nasty looks on their faces. They all seem to do it no matter what position and MULTIPLE times throughout the time we are there. Workers also talk very bad about the business and the owner saying she is mean and a drunk! Maybe that's why me and my friends see the workers in the bathroom sniffing something in the stall. Kinda obvious when they come out multiple people in one stall and all you hear is hard sniffing. Guess this lace is that bad they have to be drunk and high on drugs to want to stay and work. Very scary and will not return! Hope these people get out of there. read more

I held 2 functions here using the smaller meeting room (Birdie Room) during the day for a business meeting with 22 people & an evening function in the Eagle Room for 68. Every aspect was known and discussed by a team of people . Even invited to come in before my business meeting to check connectivity of multiple screens in the meeting room. Had it all figured out and set ( no worries like usual the night before) Continental breakfast & lunch were great . The evening function was a buffet of Italian food, all delicious and plentiful. Special attention paid to 2 Vegan eaters. Again attentive staff and well corfunated. I will use them again for future functions and very highly recommend them for yours. We've always loved the Greenery (specifically the Cali Cobb salad and fun atmosphere) but have never left a review until now. We ate here for Thanksgiving 2024 and the service and food were incredible. My family is not from the area so we didn't want to cook for just us and were so glad we didn't because this food was delicious... wish we got our waitresses name too because she was fantastic! She was super attentive and gave us extra rolls and pie to take home with a little container of whipped cream after our meal. The food, service, and atmosphere made our holiday.
