My third lunch experience at my favorite SF East-Bay American restaurant did not disappoint. The lamb patty within my El Charro burger was cooked as I requested and was flavored with herbs. It paired really nicely with the jalapenos and the potato bun was crispy. I would've liked more Pepper jack cheese however. My side of Desperado fries also tasted delicious and its red bell pepper gave the sauce an extra tang. My Nutty Buddy milkshake was also well-prepared and was amazed to discover it contained actual peanut butter. Plus, at $9.95, the beverage is very reasonably priced for two-glasses worth (about 32oz in total.) My only recommendation to management is to serve the drink in a pre-frigerated sundae glass along with the metal cup to keep it extra cold. This was my first time dining indoors and I really admired the restaurant's interior. The rustic-style wooden tables, the elegant booth-seating upholstery and the wooden designs overhead the bar counter. The food is also served in metal plates to mimic the old-western vibe of the Gold Rush era. Although I personally dislike live television being played inside bars and restaurants, this norm did not disturb my overall dining experience as the TV sets were mounted up on the wall just underneath the ceiling with a relatively low volume. read more

Stopped by for lunch on a Saturday afternoon while shopping in Walnut Creek. They had a lovely outdoor dining space, and the hostess was able to seat us right away even though the place was very busy. A burger was our goal. And Broderick delivered handily! I ordered the Gorgonzola Burger, and hubs ordered the bacon bleu cheese burger. They both came with naked fries, which were truly naked. (Note: they did not even have salt on them.) Both of our burgers were obviously freshly made, and of good quality meat. Well seasoned, cooked to order. The buns were also very soft, almost perfect as far as burger buns go. Service was good. I drove 30 minutes specifically to eat here. The food was delicious and the service was outstanding, but unfortunately, something happened that made me very uncomfortable. Our bartender/server went outside and squatted down to interact with a passerby's dog. She had the dog between her legs, hugging, petting and kissing it, with the dog rubbing against her arms, body and clothing. I did see her wash her hands afterward, but that didn't address the fact that the dog had been all over her clothing. She then returned to seating customers, handling menus and serving. When she later handed me a box for my leftovers, I was uncomfortable taking it but didn't want to embarrass her. Thankfully, another waitress came by and offered us boxes. I have nothing against animals, but I don't think that level of contact with a dog is appropriate while actively working and serving customers. I can't to Broderick for HH with my family. We were greeted and seating immediately with menus and water. Our server came to our table to do last call. We order buffalo cauliflower, cosmos, and house margaritas, veggie rolls, bao mi taco and grilled fish tacos. On the regular menu we ordered, ducks burger, turkey burger and Johnny Cash burger, Pinot Noir and tequila shots and banana pudding. Our food was delicious and the service was good. Mmmm...if you want an excellent burger, this is the place. This is the second time that I've been here when I was in the area and this time I tried the Johnny Cash burger- beef patty (cooked medium to my liking), white cheddar, thick applewood bacon, pickled sweet peppers, and homemade bbq sauce, and fried onion crisps. This type of burger is my go-to and I wasn't disappointed. So good and I didn't even request most bbq sauce because it was flavorful enough and not dry (like others make it). My friend got the grilled fish tacos and enjoyed them. Looked delicious and he was satisfied. We were seated quickly at the bar to watch the playoffs and all the servers were checking on us pretty regularly. We were well taken care of. Stopped by Broderick in Walnut Creek and had a great experience. We sat at the bar and were quickly served a Mule Kick (perfect ginger bite) and an Irish coffee that was smooth and well-balanced. For lunch, I had the Old School Burger, was cooked perfectly and paired with their house-made pickles. My partner ordered the Turkey Bacon Burger, and the Applewood smoked bacon was tasty and crunchy. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing on an off day, but brunch here missed the mark for me. Starting with service - while it was nice that we were seated within 10 minutes, no one came to take our order. After patiently waiting for 15 minutes, I had to flag down a server to take our order. We shared the bacon mac & cheese (3/5) as a starter which was poorly presented (looked very unappealing) and disappointing in taste. I got the chilaquiles (3/5) which were bland and not good. I regret my order and wish I had tried their burger. We were considering dessert when looking at the menu, but after the food was so disappointing, we got the check so we could get dessert elsewhere. This was a tasty meal so why the 3 stars? We waited a bit to have our order taken, server was prompt with our drinks but then sat for like 10 mins before he came back, when he did we gave him our order, he then came back and said someone distracted him so he forgot it (why not write it down like the other servers) and recanted it with a few things we didn't ask for so we repeated the order again. Later he used the same line at the table next to us and to be honest no one distracted him or talked to him I know because I was trying to get his attention to ask for something after we got the food which someone else got instead. Sister's burger was yummy she got a basic burger and said it was juicy and she liked the upgrade to her fries. I had the Desperado fries- and though coated with things they stayed crunchy, the steak was yummy though I wish it had a little more for the price. Not sure if there were refills to our drinks as we weren't asked but a hat tip to the food runners they were super nice and helpful. My husband and I wanted to grab an early dinner before heading home. We saw that Brodericks had a happy hour from M-F 2:30pm-5:30pm and decided to try them out. There was barely anyone inside and we were seated quickly and given waters. We decided pretty quickly that we wanted to try a variety of items from their Happy Hour menu. My husband ordered the triple play sliders and a side of sweet potatoes (not on the happy hour menu). I wanted to try the taquitos and the fried ravioli with marinara sauce. We both shared the garlic fries. As we were waiting for our food, they started getting busier, and we realized we came at the perfect time. We were also informed that happy hour was going to end soon, which I thought was nice in case we wanted to order something else. There wasn't too long of a wait for the food, and when it came, we couldn't wait to try it all. My husband enjoyed the sliders and sweet potato fries and was surprised at how many fries they gave him. He said the burgers were good and each one had its own flavors. The taquitos were very good, as well as the fried ravioli. I was not a fan of the garlic fries, although my husband said he kind of liked them. There was a unique glaze to the fries and way too much garlic. It was definitely an acquired taste, just not something for me. We would like to come back again and try different items off the menu. Server introduced herself, along with a lady she was training. I ordered the fish sandwich with fries and wife got a Cowboy burger (I think) with salad. My sandwich came out and looked great: nice big and crispy piece of fish with lettuce and the bacon slaw. The fish was fried well and moist, but kinda fell apart as I ate it. Our server was dry and unwelcoming from the start. When I pointed out that my Dr Pepper was flat, she dismissed it, claiming all their drinks are like that. This is one of my favorite spots for daily drink specials! I tried the 'Merica Monday while I watched the Warriors smash the Rockets during playoff game. It's a cool environment to enjoy their burgers and wings! The wings are 'colossal' and the wingsauce is fire"!!! Literally hot but delicious. My friend really enjoyed one of their many burger options with a side salad. We sat at a tall top so the bartender was our server and he was attentive and informative - I never had the beer that was on special (red ale?) but it was a brown ale (moose lips or something to that effect) and I actually really enjoyed it ! This 3-star review is for customer service: My family and I were dining in the patio for lunch. We were accommodated on the patio, as a larger group, which was nice. The food was good, not great. I had the duck burger, which seemed a little dry but still tasty. What was odd were our interactions with the wait staff. A gentleman was serving us ice water. When he got to my brother, my brother asked for room temperature water at which the gentleman proceeded to pour the ice water, and walked off and even appeared have even rolled his eyes from my point of view. He never did return to replace the ice water with room temp water. The waitress didn't come off as eager to help either, while we asked them about different items on the menu.
