Came here for Mother's Day and had a reservation for 6 people. It was busy, but everything was mostly great. The ambiance (to me) is a mix of classic and modern Italian decor. They prepped our table quickly and we were seated right away. Our server was friendly and attentive, although they let us know the kitchen was behind so the more prepared to order we were, the better. Everyone enjoyed their food, with the Pesto Gorgonzola and Chicken Saltimbocca being the favorites. My mom enjoyed the Tiramisu as well. It was a little awkward at the end to have everything on our table cleared while we were still seated (not by our server). It felt like they were wanting to turn the tables over for the next guests, which I think could be done without it being so obvious. We came for early dinner at 3pm, so I assume they were prepping for the main dinner rush, but there weren't people waiting for tables when we left. Overall though, a good experience and we've had several meals here. It was our first time in a while, so we'll be back sooner than later. read more

Surprised I have never reviewed this place before been coming for years. Usually eat here about twice a year. I feel its gone downhill a little bit over the years 3.5 rating is pretty accurate I rounded down but in the past would have rated it 4 stars. There are better Italian places to go to in the area. I prefer sitting in the bar area but there are only a few tables. For several years they had a cool bartender that serves you not sure if he is still there. The dipping sauce for the bread is very good however they started charging $5.00 for it. i dont recall ever paying extra for bread at most Italian places. We started with Minestrone soup it wasn't good mostly broth with a few overly large veges. I make a way better version. At $10.00 for a cup I would never order it again. I had to ask the server to bring parmesan cheese. The salad was good that we shared a light Italian dressing and good size they did a good job with that. The Carbonara tasted like they blended Campbells Creamy Chicken soup in it. Probably was just me but for some reason it just didnt do i for me. I have had better dishes here before. The bottle of Wood Family Zinfandel we shared made the whole meal much better. We enjoyed our time her but not sure I will be back very soon as I said lots of other better Italian places in the area. read more

The portions are huge and perfect for sharing with friends or family. The servers were very accommodating and checked on us often while even suggesting a few things from the menu that we might like. We stopped by for an early dinner today. The Caesar salad was five star good, a perfect light garlicky dressing with croutons & crisp romaine. The side chicken breast was cooked perfectly, juicy & tender. The pasta dish, tender tortellini, peas, mushrooms and prosciutto in a thin cream sauce, the prosciutto tasted more like ham, it could have used more peas & mushrooms but still very tasty. We used to love the bread they served years ago, the rolls were ok. Overall a wonderful dinner, great value, stellar service, in an elegant atmosphere with soft music playing in the background; perfect date night. We were happy to see that they still offer a scoop of jelly belly's on the way out, nice touch-we plan to return very soon! Highly recommend. read more

So glad we ate there last night, 2 February 2025. It had been 25+ years since we'd been there since no longer live in the east bay and their San Mateo branch closed many years ago. Reviews both on Yelp and Google were very mixed with either love it or hate it. Very glad I went with my gut feelings. Minestrone as starter was good; not great. The mains of chicken cacciatore for me and pasta Bolognese for my wife were both excellent! My wife liked my cacciatore better than her Bolognese but I thought they both rocked. Out to dinner with my sister. There was only one waiter. The restaurant filled up fast with still only one waiter. Unfortunately, we were quickly served our appetizer and dinner order with no dinner rolls and butter. Our drinks were never refreshed and parmesan cheese was only given upon request. It was very difficult to get the waiter attention but I was finally able to order a dinner meal to go. When the order to go came, I checked the bag No Dinner Roll. I requested the dinner roll and also requested the 2 rolls that were not receive with our eat-in meals. The waiter seemed annoyed but took the "to go" bag and returned it quickly. Sorry to say this gem of a restaurant has slipped, not much but after perhaps 100 visits over 30 years, noticeable. Veal piccata should never have pepper in it. The wonderful baguette bread has been replaced by a wonderful French roll. Our server was not suave; she took plates away before companion was finished, she was not easy and congenial , she forgot a few things and had to be asked twice. And her hairdo was difficult to figure out. I want to think all this was because perhaps she was new so improvement will come. But the biggest disappointment was the tiramisu. It was pretty much awful. Thick, solid, and the yellow in color rather than white. It actually approached the feeling of being a cheesecake rather than the fluffy light as air concoction of before. I was tasked with finding a last minute party sized tiramisu for a graduation gift. My friend told me to come and get it this restaurant. Party sized trays need to be ordered in advance, but the waiter was gracious to pack multiple servings for me in an aluminum tray to make it look like a party dessert. OK, where to start, well I used to come here all the time, last time was four years ago before the pandemic. This place was rocking it with the food the ambience and the service. The best Italian. However, when coming back for the first time in four years, I was so excited, but there was a lot of disappointment here. First off, I can't say how much I appreciated the owner coming up to us and talking with us. He was so kind!! But I did notice that they took my grandmother and my child and I to another room where it was loud and it was not as nice as the main room. I thought they were trying to separate us from the other side of the room, which I felt a little upset about when I had told them it was my grandmother's 88th birthday, and it would've been nice to be on the side where it was quiet. In addition, we left it alone, and we went into the room and sat down. Our server was really sweet. She came over and was asking what we would like, and even took her time in between which it was a little too much time. We did order a glass of wine and the servings were just right. My grandmother had the soup and salad and I ordered the cheese tortellini meal. When the food did arrive, it was not as upscale as it was before. Definitely the cheese tortellini sauce was very wet, and the meal had no flavor. It wasn't as usual. Also, I noticed that they made a change to their most famous pesto chicken pasta dish or I would've ordered that. The food was not up to par for an Italian restaurant of this sort. I was very disappointed. I don't know if I will be coming back being that the prices are a little high and the food quality is low. Service everyone was really nice, but it was very slow. I also did not like how they put us in the room that was very loud. This makes me sad because I have really good memories at this restaurant. It can get a little loud in the dining room which is why I'll usually just order pick up but we went there last Friday night to dine in and had a wonderful date. I went here for the first time to avoid heavy traffic and I'm so happy I stopped by. I sat at the bar and ordered the house salad which was delicious and had the right amount of dressing (I usually ask for it on the side, but didn't this time). The Sauvignon Blanc was local, from Napa and really refreshing. I followed up with the Margherita Pizza. I only ate half but it was cooked perfectly! I was too full for an actual dessert so I settled for an "after dinner delight" it's similar to a Grasshopper (drink) and it was so delicious. I haven't had one of those in years. I have a dilemma. The food is good at this place but the service is the worst we have ever experienced. Our waitress was not really rude but was just terrible. She was not friendly or inviting. Her interaction with us was robotic and rushed. Her service was also very slow and when we asked her for extra napkins, she seemed surprised anyone would ask for them. She brought over small black cocktail napkins. Huh?! When I asked for a real napkin, she seemed taken aback and again was not pleasant about bringing them over. I guess they have a quota on napkins. The bus boy was also not very friendly. We had been there about 10 minutes, waiting for our waitress to return and I asked the bus boy for bread. He answered rudely that it's coming. Also, this is the first restaurant we've been to where our water glasses ran dry and no one came by to fill them. The food is good but very salty so you need lots of water. It was our first time coming here but won't be our last!!! When we arrived and saw how small it appeared in the parking lot, I was worried that this was going to be a pizza place that served pasta. BOY WAS I WRONG!! From the moment we were seated to our last minute there, this place was wonderful. We were celebrating a birthday and everyone loved all the food and drinks! The garlic bread was so good!! Things we ordered were cheese tortellini, carbonara, saltimbocca, cheese ravioli and the rigatoni! All of it was fabulous! We had a great experience here and we'll be back! My wife was looking for red clam linguini and this was the only place reasonably near us that serves it. We weren't quite sure what to expect in the 'burbs of Walnut Creek, but we were very pleasantly surprised! Don't let the strip mall locale put you off; the dining room is quite lovely with the windows bringing an open airy feeling. I had the chicken cacciatore, which was piping hot and absolutely delicious; my wife had the red clam linguine and she was just as happy. Servers we nice enough and helpful, but seemed inexperienced and not super organized Even so, our overall experience was great. We thought the prices were reasonable too. Character is what's most important to me. We have dined there many times and have met on numerous occasions. You put out bad quality food that night hence why we spoke, you made promises via our conversation last month about "discounting our meal"and you didn't uphold to that. I wouldn't waste my time or energy trying to do the wrong thing. I will always fight for what's right, and my meal/experience that night was less than subpar to say the least. Legal is my job. My background is just that. So your threat I do not take lightly. You could've actually followed through to make this situation right, and I would have been glad to change my review, but you chose to ghost me and not follow up. My daughter wanted to try something new so we gave this place I have driven by 100 times and never stopped a try! I'm glad we did! The staff was so friendly and it wasn't too crowded. It was quiet and we got a table right away. They have many traditional Italian dishes and a legit pizza oven. The bar is small but nice. Since I was with my young daughter I didn't have any adult drinks but it actually looks like a nice place to hang out and grab a drink with a friend or your significant other. I let me daughter order and told her to pick two dishes she wanted to try and we could share them both. She ordered us the Alfredo Chicken and a margherita pizza. They brought us some delicious fresh bread and we could choose between butter or olive oil and balsamic with our bread. We decided to start with a Greek salad as well and it was so fresh and simple but delicious. Everything was great and they made sure we had a great experience. Thank you! This restaurant has been there forever and still serves excellent Italian food. So, not sure why it was so empty on a Tuesday for lunch. Five of us dropped in for lunch. We decided to eat family style. Caesar Salad, pizzas and desserts! The kitchen was thoughtful in separately playing the salads. The pizzas were excellent. We shared a crème brûlée and a tiramisu. The tiramisu may have been the best I have ever had! It's a nice clean place with additional parking in the back. The bathrooms could use a touch up. The bar has excellent drinks. I have to say not one dish has ever disappointed. The seafood plates are always fresh. One of my favorites is the Angel hair with filet of salmon in in an excellent lemon dill sauce! The French bread is delicious and nice and warm. Other family members love the Linguine with shrimp, scallops, calamari, clams and mussels in a zesty fra-diavlo sauce! We love coming here for special occasions, like Mother's Day and Father's Day! I live in the neighborhood and noticed now that there are jasmine plants that are outside at the outdoor seating area. I've been going to Pasta Primavera for almost 20 years. While the quality isn't quite as great as I remember, they still make the best Chicken Saltimbocca I've had anywhere. I used to devour their red sauce--it's not as good as it used to be, but still pretty tasty. One thing that hasn't changed is their incredible batterless calamari. The sauce is amazing, and I love scooping up every last bit with the bread. Despite a few changes, this place remains a solid choice for some delicious dishes! The restaurant is clean, intimate and you can have a shout free conversation with a group of friends. Service is always good although nowadays we prefer takeout. read more
