Parking in the underground lot was a nightmare. The spaces are the tightest spots I've seen. The restaurant itself is weird. Just beer/booze and not much in the way of food? Crazy. The place was packed and couldn't get seated for another 45 minutes. It's odd that a place like this was 'family friendly'. Oh, and they allow dogs too. I love dogs. I have a dog. I would presume my pet upon your dining experience, just like I wouldn't want you to presume your pet on my night out for dinner with my wife. Let's face it, it's getting stinking expensive to eat out and I don't want to see your pet letting loose in the restaurant (either #1 or #2). read more

This review could be solely focused on their chipotle black bean burger... it is that good! Our visit to Headlands was a great mid-week stop for lunch and I can see it being very popular for good reason. They had a great food menu including the previously mentioned black bean burger (which was mind blowing), good classic pretzel appetizer, and a fun outdoor seating. The service was quick and the beer was good! I would have liked a little more options of beer than what was provided but they had a good diversity of what they offered. Parking is at a next door parking garage. Eating at the venue validates for 1 hour free, then after that it costs read more

If you're looking for a brewery that's also a beer garden, this is perfect spot. They are located in a business area in Walnut Creek, so we didn't see much street parking. However, there is a parking garage, where you can get 1 hr validated parking. Otherwise, it $1.25/30-minutes. They have a spacious outdoor seating area with a cozy fire pit. There's a kiddie play area with chalk and toys, and there's also a 21+ only seating area. Not gonna lie, those toys have seen better days but the kiddos enjoyed playing there. We got there about 15 minutes before opening on a Saturday, and they were nice enough to let us sit in the beer garden. I'm not a beer drinker, but everyone in our party enjoyed the beers. They have a wide variety of beers, and they have wines and cocktails as well. The food menu is pretty limited: it's burgers, a couple sandwiches, and salads. The smash burger was a hit, but they weren't very big. I had the chicken sandwich, which was slathered in mayo, but was quite good. They have 2 appetizers: Pretzel and fries. The pretzels were soft and served with either mustard or cheese. They host watch parties during the World Cup, and we were there 3 hours before the game, and the place filled up quickly as the game approached. There are large TV screens in the patio. This is a nice option to hang out, enjoy a game, and let the kiddos play. read more

Willing to give it another try. Food: 4/5. Overall, the food is good, but nothing amazing. The burger was great! The beer was ok and got there halfway through our meal, which was disappointing. The seasoning for the fries was super bland to me. The pretzel was pretty good too. Service: 3/5. The person when we entered was super friendly. The rest of the service was just super slow and seemed disorganized. You order through QR code at your table. Our drinks got delivered about halfway through our meal, which was disappointing since we were mostly there for the beer. Atmosphere: 3.5/5. The actual brewery can be a fun spot, however I felt seating was uncomfortable and tables were small for our beverages and food. We liked the play area for the kids since we had our kids with us, but wish there were more toys that were updated and not broken. Parking is a bit of a hassle. The place was packed at 4pm on a weekday. Kid friendly: 4/5. It is a brewery... so I wasn't expecting it to be so kid friendly, but it really caters to parents wanting to go out with their kids. The kids area is perfect to keep kids somewhat contained and away from adults that do not want kids to interrupt them. Most of the toys are really rugged and somewhat broken, but appreciate that it is there. This was our first time, so now that we know what to expect I would love to give this place another shot! read more

Chill place to have a beer and watch a game outdoors on their large screen tvs. There is relatively little seating space inside so if the weather isn't great, then this is not the place to hang. Food here isn't bad - the beer pretzel is decent and their smashburgers are good enough. One gripe: the parking validation in the adjacent garage is for an hour only - if you go over that, it's going to be $3+. Weird that they only expect you to be here for less than an hour. read more

Solid place for an after work drink and small bites. I joined colleagues this evening on their outdoor patio. Most of them were well into their second and third drinks, but I needed to stick to one as I was driving home. So I chose carefully, and settled on their Irish Stout, which was just the right amount of bitter, and creamy and smooth, though not as good as my favorite - Guinness. For snacks, I enjoyed tortilla chips with spicy red salsa, hummus and meatballs. Happy to return next time my work folks get together. read more

We've frequented the Headlands location in Lafayette for years thanks to its convenient spot near my husband's barber, and it's always been one of our favorite places to grab a beer. Recently, though, we've been spending more time at the Walnut Creek location, and it has quickly become one of our go-to spots. Headlands consistently puts out great beer. Whether you're into crisp lagers, hoppy IPAs, or something a little more seasonal, there's usually something on tap that hits the spot. We love being able to try different pours, and the quality is always solid. It's the kind of brewery where you can confidently order something new and know you're probably going to enjoy it. Now let's talk about the smashburger. I genuinely crave this burger at least once a week. It is that good. Whoever is making these burgers deserves all the praise because they have absolutely nailed it. The patty is perfectly smashed, the flavors are balanced, and every ingredient is in the right proportion. Nothing gets lost, nothing overwhelms the burger--it's just an incredibly satisfying bite every time. We also really appreciate the setup at the Walnut Creek location. Having separate areas for kids and adults makes the space feel welcoming for everyone without sacrificing the brewery atmosphere. Whether you're there for a casual drink, a meal, or to meet up with friends, it's an easy place to spend an afternoon. Great beer, an outstanding smashburger, and a thoughtful space make this a spot we'll keep coming back to. read more

Fantastic open air bar with great food, best enjoyed with company! The service is QR code at the table, and the servers run out the items when they're prepared. No fuss, just straight business. Staff is super friendly, very knowledgeable about Soul Calibur The Smash burger is great. I'd devour 4 if I had the chance! The pretzel also is a winner, comes with mustard and cheese sauces. Michelada was very refreshing! They have a mini play area for littles, which kept mine busy while I enjoyed my time with my friends! Overall a very chill spot to come hang out and watch the games! read more

Very cute stop off on the road home. They were super accommodating to my family. We ended up getting an app and a couple sandwiches. Beer was a mixed bag but good overall- not stunning. Food was amaaaazing! Even brought a water bowl out for the pup! I like the theatre style seating and under the redwoods in such a hot day was primo. Getting there and parking was a bit odd- couldn't figure out the parking validation situation but you literally drive out the parking garage and onto the highway on ramp practically so the convenience was really nice. read more

Service and vibes here are always great. The server did stop by as soon as he saw us sit said he would be with us shortly as they were busy. To me this goes a long way taking the time to check in and letting us know it's going to be a few is so nice in my opinion. I got a spritzed which was ok. The pretzel is delicious and the fries were crispy and good. I love how we can always get a fire pit when we visit. The staff here has been consistently great every time we have visited. Nice venue with patio seating and stage for the band! Ordered with QR menu; Smashburger, seasoned fries and salad. The burger was good, just needs more sauce cuz da sawce is da boss! Went to a happy hour with work friends to Headlands Brewing. They have plenty of outdoor seating with partial shade from umbrellas. I think it would be a great place for larger events if the weather was cooperating. Waitstaff is very friendly. We mainly ordered online by scanning their menu QR code. I really liked that they offered smaller pours so I could make my own flight and try a few different beers. Can't comment too much on food since we didn't get much. Got an order of fries and they were fried really well - crispy exterior, fluffy interior. The soft pretzel was also very good. read more

Great spot for sports or to gather folks for a birthday or hang. The patio area is so clutch with great seating and different areas. We had been wanting to come here for months, but avoided going becuase we thought it was located in Downtown Walnut Creek (Downtown is a disaster on weekends and parking is a joke). It's NOT located Downtown and there is a parking garage located directly behind the brewery (you have to download an app and enter your personal info, which I really dont like doing) BUT the brewery validates your first hour). Got to the brewery about 20 mins after they opened on a Saturday and to our surprise it was almost empty. This is the best outdoor brewery setup I have seen in the Eastbay. Phenomenal 2 level patio with gigantic fire pits and as dog friendly as you will ever see. Huge screen tv showing football and numerous smaller tvs everywhere. Beer was good (beer menu pretty small), they have sparking wine / champagne and other alcohol drinks. Got the chicken sandwich, fries, and carnitas tacos. Food was surprisingly not overpriced, which is awesome. Loved this place and definitely will come back. Sidenote, while it was empty when we showed up around 1150-noon, they were probably 80% capacity at around 130, so this place gets packed quick. read more

I've been to the Lafayette and Walnut Creek locations a few times now and I'm surprised I haven't done a review here yet. I love that it has such a massive outdoor space and they bring in life music, the food is great, and so is the beer. I almost always have my dog with me and I love even more so that this is a pet friendly establishment! My boyfriend and I do not have kids and don't always care to sit in the main dining area because it is also very kid friendly. I appreciate that this business creates a 2+ zone for us to have our space away from the chaos that kids can bring. That being said, if you have children, this is also a great place for you to bring your kids! We took our pup here for his adoptaversary and treated him to a pup patty - just a small way that this business ties in their inclusion of pets. Check them out! read more

Great place for a beer, cocktail, or even smash burger! Their smash burgers are pretty good, bun is super soft and yummy! One burger was suppose to be a double and came out as a single but staff was super friendly and fixed it right away and apologetic! Their steak sandwich is delish! They have lots of drink options if you don't drink beer. Great outdoor spot for kids and families and tvs to watch sporting events! Staff were great and so friendly and attentive. I didn't care for their ranch personally but all food was great and atmosphere is great for a nice sunny day! read more

It's a five stars from me! My husband and I met our friend and boyfriend for her birthday here. It was our first time and we seriously had the best time. Our chicken and steak sandwich were delicious and so were the drinks. I loved my beer but I also love that they had N/A available too and other cocktails to choose from. Their backyard patio was great and we thankfully found a table right away. It does get packed pretty quick so I suggest getting there earlier than you think. Parking garage right next door. I was here yesterday with a friend to watch the Mexico and Korea World Cup match, and the place had a good vibe. I loved that there were TVs everywhere so we could watch wherever we were. My friend ordered a pretzel and I ordered some fries. The pretzel was seriously amazing, even at its price, and that cheese sauce was to die for. The fries were also cooked super well, and the seasoning on top was just top. Shout out to the staff, because they made the place a great place to catch the game while talking with my friend. I chose Headlands because I got a promo from them that they were offering a single pint for a dollar with a certain business card thing that I got from one of them at an Art and Wine Festival in the area. It's a great spot in Walnut Creek with a solid selection of fresh, flavorful beers and quick bites to choose from. The gluten-free beer sounded a bit , bitter. Unfortunately, I missed the name of our server who was super friendly and welcoming, which adds to the overall good vibe of the place. The only thing keeping this from a 5-star review is the location right at the tunnel (on the corner between the buildings), which creates a pretty strong draft in the evenings. When it gets chilly, it can definitely be a bit uncomfortable outside. That said, it's still a great place to hang out, especially on warmer days. Worth checking out if you're in the area and looking for a quality local (started at Lafayette) brew! read more

really liked this place !! its a great spot to spend an afternoon with family. The outside patio has a really nice vibe and the staff was SO friendly and helpful throughout. what I liked is that they serve cocktails too, not just beer, so there's something for everyone. Arrived at 7:30. Yelp said they close at 9. Apparently the clock inside was operating on a different time zone because we were told they were closed. So we stood outside, questioning reality, while two other groups casually walked in like they had the secret password. We gave up and ordered an Uber. Somewhere between "Confirming your driver" and actually leaving, someone came outside to let us know we could come in after all. Unfortunately, unlike your closing time, Uber's arrival time was consistent. I'm sure the beer is fantastic. Wanted to find a place with a good vibe and we found headlands brewing. This is a great place to go after work or have a small gathering. We got a beer and smash burger. Very casual setting where we seat ourselves and order from QR codes on the tables. Servers were friendly and quick. Parking here is tough. There is a parking garage where you pay for parking or street meter parking. But this place validates parking in the garage for one hour. The music is fun and there are tv screens to watch sports. Fire pits and heaters are in the seating area but I would still bring a jacket for extra warmth if you're going at night. The food was good, but condiments for the burger were charged. I would come back here for a casual night out. read more

This was my first time visiting, and I really enjoyed it! The outdoor area is perfect for both kids and adults, and you can even bring your furry friends, which is such a nice touch. There's a huge outdoor TV, making it a great spot to catch sports games. What I really loved is that it's not just a brewery--they also have a cocktail list, which is perfect for someone like me who isn't a big beer drinker. The bar manager (I wish I caught his name!) was amazing--so polite, friendly, and helpful with drink suggestions. I ended up trying the mango spicy margarita, and it was absolutely delicious. They use fresh lemon juice, which makes such a difference! I didn't know about Headlands until they moved into this nearby location, and stumbled into the brewery somewhat randomly after getting off Bart. That was a happy twist of fate, as this place is awesome and just what I've been wanting for a local brewery and eatery. It's a great indoor/outdoor layout with ample and flexible seating, designated areas for adults only and families (always a nice touch), and a full seat of TVs for sports watching. I've been there on more quiet days and super busy ones, and have always been able to find a table and have a great time. The food options are perfect for the outdoor centric experience, with a good mix of pub foods available. They also have both beer and cocktails, the latter I find to be rare for breweries. Probably the best part though is the super friendly staff. Every time I've been there are several folks who check in periodically and make sure we're doing well. Even on the busy days where they are clearly working their buns off, the positive attitude and friendliness is on lock. Great, great stuff! read more

This is the latest tap room for Headlands Brewery It's the Walnut Creek branch but nestled by the Pleasant Hill Bart Station. I like it. It has a slightly different vibe from the Lafayette location. Ordering experience is a hybrid of QR Code with table delivery or table service if you prefer. We felt taken care of but it's not a fancy restaurant. It's low key. Love coming here solo or with a friend or a group -- it's great for remote work as well. Since all seating is outside I was worried that I'd be cold on a December night (California cold, but still, it's not warm) -- but they have plenty of heaters and even blankets! The bartender made me an amazing hot drink for the cold (I'm not a whiskey fan and he made something perfect). The staff check in regularly and I really appreciate how welcome they make you feel. I've had the smash burger, the black bean patty, the pretzel, and the salads -- honestly, everything is pretty good and you can't really go wrong.
