Part of the reason the Walnut Creek Marriott's lounge has such a good breakfast is Atrio. Prior to leveling up enough up in the Elite status to warrant lounge use, I breakfasted daily at Atrio. The staff are all super sweet and helpful, and the spread is pretty choice for $15. They always have eggs, bacon, yogurt, toast, fruit, oatmeal, and cereal, with a couple revolving spots for potatoes, pancakes, etc. And if you ask you're able to do take-away, they'll just give you a few boxes for your items. The coffee is also offered all day which is a nice perk. All in all, I highly recommend the breakfast here if you're staying at Walnut Creek Marriott. read more

This was my second visit to Atria, and I was not at all disappointed! As before, I had the field greens salad with stonefruit, pistachios, goat cheese, and a champagne vinaigrette. It was the star of the week in my opinion, and it is a definite contender for a good I would eat if I was stuck on a desert island for the rest of my life. Next, I had the seared scallop dish. The flavor of the scallops was phenomenal, and they weren't overcooked and rubbery, which is something that is hard to find when ordering scallops. The only drawback was the Beurre Blanc and veggies, which were pretty lackluster in flavor and added nothing to the dish. I paired my meal with a gorgeous Napa Valley Chardonnay called Miner. It was refreshing and light with a slightly buttery taste with a subtle fruit fragrance. As for the service, all of the wait staff I spoke to were friendly and made great suggestions. I loved the relaxed atmosphere- you could sit in an intimate circle of arm chairs, or watch the game at the bar. I will definitely return in my next business trip in Walnut Creek! read more

This restaurant is co-located with the Marriotts Hotel property! Unexpectedly very good food! Came for a meeting about an event and decided to eat at the restaurant! The Steak was cooked to perfection..tender and not chewy with a nice balance of oil and cilantro flavors. Don't have a picture of the chicken dish but it was soo good, forgot to take a before pic..chicken was tender and not dry with a nice but not overpowering lemon sauce. The salmon dish is not pictured either because again, got a little too excited but the fish was nice and flaky with a nice miso sauce that wasn't too salty. We ordered dessert and the red velvet was unique with its cream cheese texture evenly matched with red velvet cake that was amazing! The sliders was also good (if you're looking to have something small) the beef was cook well and had this special dressing I could not describe but my mouth liked it! Atrio is giving me all kinds of life right now with that happy hour! Happy hour is ON POINT, y'all! I kinda don't wanna tell anyone about this place because I don't want it to be crowded the next time that I come in. What a nice little surprise! I've known about this bar for quite sometime now, but finally made it inside recently. This bar is located on the bottom floor of the Walnut Creek Marriott. In my experience, hotel bars can be really wonderful or absolutely terrible. I'm happy to report that Atrio is fantastic! I loooove the setup! Super spacious with high ceilings and a beautiful red color scheme. Very fancy looking decor and beautiful light fixtures! Comfy sofas are available if you don't wanna sit at the actual bar top. The bar is lovely! It's centered right in the middle of the room and has 3 large TV's that are perfect for game viewing. But, that happy hour though! From 3-6pm during the weekdays, you can indulge in $6 bar bites and $5 house wine, draft beer, and well cocktails. Noooiiice!!! That's that type of stuff that Shayla likes! I ended up with 2 glasses of their happy hour house red Cab and Pinot, and their happy hour roasted cauliflower and baby pork riblets. The wine was house, so it wasn't the best that I've ever had. BUT, it was good and cheap! That's all that really matters when you're coming for happy hour. The roasted cauliflower could have been a little more "roasted", but it was cheesy and I really liked the dipping sauce that it came with. The pork riblets literally stole the show for me. They were fingerlickin' GOOD! I think I probably scarfed them bad boys down in record time with no evidence left on my fingers or face. Those damn thangs were the BOOOMB! I probably would have ordered another round if I hadn't had the cauliflower. But heeeey, there's always next time (wink wink)! I loved that it wasn't super crowded inside even though it has the capacity to be. It seemed like the crowd was a mix of hotel guests and people who work nearby. Bar service was spot on! I didn't have to wait long for anything and the bartender checked in on me several times. I noticed that they do bourbon flights here! I'm not a huge fan of bourbon, but would love to try a wine flight if they have anything like that. They also had some decent beers on tap. The only thing I'm not too sure about is the parking situation?! I parked um.... somewhere I probably shouldn't have (ssshhhh!). But, I'll have to find out if they allow free parking for their bar patrons. All in all, I'm super impressed! Another Walnut Creek hidden gem exposed! I had dinner while staying at the Marriott because I didn't feel like getting the car or walking. The food was not fabulous. It was rather mediocre and too salty - about what I would expect from a hotel restaurant. My server, Everardo, was swamped. He was the only one working. But he provided great service and did all that he could for going at it alone. I would give him a 5 star review! read more

I have been here twice, and don't let the fact that this is a hotel restaurant fool you into thinking you should skip. Whoever creates this recipes has a gift for coming up with all of it INCLUDING THE SPECIALS. And the kitchen has a gift too for being able to execute it. There are some stand out in their normal menu like their half roasted chicken, which is crispy and flavorful and so so so juicy with tender veggies and some yummy potatoes. But where they really really shine is through their specials, they are so creative with the flavors and they have yet to disappoint, I must say the Kimchi Burger is quite possibly the best burger i've had in my life. But not only is the food spectacular but so is the staff, so kind and attentive. I'm sad i can only visit this place when i travel because they are quite possibly the best restaurant i've had in a long time, but they are right under everyone's noses just cause they are in the marriott, but don't be fooled and please please give this place a shot, cause they will blow ur expectations out of the water read more

Came to enjoy some local musicians and was pretty blown away by the fantastic service (our waiter was Ryan - seriously one of the best waiters that we've ever had, 5 stars for Ryan alone). Chef did an amazing job with the food, beautiful and delicious. Minor criticism would be that the finishing sauces are very repetitive. A must try dish included the grilled octopus, but everything we ordered was very well prepared and easy to enjoy. Wine and beer selection was good, once again our waiter Ryan made really excellent recommendations with very helpful and accurate descriptions (something very special about a waiter or waitress that can do that). Music turned out to be very special as well. Volume level was perfect to enjoy, while not struggling to have a conversation at our table. Nice ambiance and atmosphere. For my experience when I visited one afternoon while waiting for a car service nearby, there were plenty of staff mindlessly milling about and looking right at you or past you, but who didn't bother to take an order, bring the bill, much less check in during meal. Lots of waiting and being left alone. Annoying since they weren't busy. My guy ordered his burger medium-well and it came out down well-done. Despite being loaded with trimmings, the burger fell quite short compared to recent burger experiences. Fries were limp and lacking much flavor. Artichoke was partially charred and served with butter. It was decent but again flavor wasn't a stand-out. Nothing memorable. The guacamole was DEFINITELY not worth-getting unless you've been on a desert island with no guacamole for 7 years...but even then, this would probably disappoint. I ordered the clam chowder in a sourdough bowl and the crab and prawn cakes. The sourdough bowl was the tiniest bread bowl I've ever seen. But it was the perfect amount for me to finish the whole thing, and the clam chowder was delicious! It had so much flavor and a bunch of bacon and clams. The crab cakes were pretty good. I don't quite understand this place. First of all, it's strictly valet parking. Or metered parking with a max of 2hrs on the streets. It's not even downtown Walnut Creek. Next, Open Table and the Atrio restaurant apparently do not communicate. 12:30pm reservation was made via Open Table. Sister arrived at 12:08pm, walked in and mentioned her 12:30 reservation and was seated. I walked in around 12:20pm and sat with my sister and grandma. Note that I arrived prior to our 12:30pm reservation. It was a breakfast buffet. I got an omelet, some bacon, lox and fruit. I sat down to eat. At 12:38pm, they're yelling out "Last Call! Last Call!" We looked at each other completely confused. My sister asked our waitress what happens after they close the buffet, and she said that we could sit at the bar and order food. She once again explained that she made a 12:30 reservation. She repeated herself to the manager and questioned why no one said anything as they sat our party down to a table. His excuse was that it must be an issue with their beverage and whatever department. No "oh let me look into it for you", or anything. He just brushed it off and came by with some menus. So at $30/plate, the lack of customer service, and being able to make a 12:30 reservation (which is also the time the buffet closes); I can definitely say that I will not be returning to this establishment. read more

Valentine's Day. Yes, I understand if the house is busy. We were seated at :6:20 or so and by 8:00pm did still not have our meals and by 8:10 had them but all wrong. Brought over 30 people for a meetup event and I reserved the place prior to the date. I changed my reservation from 15 - 20. Everything went well. Janet, the waitress was fantastic and was not fazed by the crowd. Separate checks. Jazz music was great. We were seated in one long row of couches. Bathrooms were clean and close to the Atrio. Chairs were added as more members came in. No problems with the wait staff. The only hitch was the restaurant coordinator for Atrio reservations who confused me by confronting me that had she known that I increased my number to 25, she would not allow it (????). I informed her that I talked to someone when I increased the numbers. I offered to pull out the group and I informed her that if she does not welcome big groups like mine, I will not be booking the Atrio anymore for our Jazz listening sessions. She sort of waffled and vacillated and mumbled incoherently about patronage, etc. I did not understand that all but we had a great time as she was not direct with her communications. will be very hesitant again in bringing my meetup groups to Atrio because of this unfriendly incident with the Atrio Restaurant Coordinator. I have eaten here a few times on business trips when i didn't want to venture out. Unfortunately the chef responsible for the menu has too much of an affinity to fruit with the entrees. Most of the items that sounded good just don't execute well with fruit (or at least the way they offer it). I ignored my instincts and ordered the scallops because I was in the mood for seafood. Unfortunately they were ruined by being topped with cherries and a too sweet sauce. On a prior trip I had pork chops but they were overly sweet with brie and apples (I enjoy apples and pork but the addition of the brie made it too much). The burger was good though and I enjoyed the veggie pasta with chicken... Common theme: no fruit The service has always been friendly and helpful. read more

You get what you pay for...I am not that picky, get me coffee and a muffin and this could have been more stars. Ok, let me have some bacon-3 pieces left all greasy and rubbery (blech)! My companion's favorite item was a small box of granola cereal that we could have got from a store. He got the last croissant, no more replenished. Let's make our own waffles? Someone had spilled batter in the maker and it was so dried and encrusted no on could use it. People pay $20 for that normally? I think not. Fruit? Almost all gone. There were at one point 3 wait staff and a manager but seriously I could go to McDonalds, pay less, get better service and have way tastier food. We were greeted and led to a window side table. The waitress is super friendly. The bread is served with hummus and olives. The portion is equivalent to an appetizer. We ordered Lamb Chops and Seafood Ballerine. The lamb chops are cooked just right. The side dishes are special and well prepared. The Seafood Ballerine tasted very fresh. A tiny little bit spicy on the sauce. Wonderfully done. Over the entire course, the waitress is very attentive and passionate to serve customers. Friendly, polite but never a bit aggressive. Poor service(in the restaurant) food was edible but when u order a salad, again not really in the restaurant business, your waiter should ask if you would like pepper.
