I had the chicken breast sandwich with extra pesto mayo, lettuce, red onion, and tomatoes on soft ciabatta--absolutely perfect! On the side, I tried the potato salad (which Joey highly recommended), and let me just say, he nailed it. I'm pretty picky when it comes to potato salad, but this one was spot-on: not too sweet, with tender potatoes and great flavor. To top it off, I grabbed a key lime gourmet soda from their awesome wall of beverages --so fun and refreshing. Joey was super friendly and helpful throughout, which made the experience even better. Have had a few different sandwiches here, life of tri, California dreaming and Italian. The life of tri needs more tri tip, always seems to be skimpy. The california dreaming is SO good, add bacon, you won't regret it. The Italian needs more sauce of some kind, it was very dry and the bread was a bit tough this time. Nestled in downtown martinez and been here a long long time, they do a great business. They offer more than just awesome sandwiches, they have a whole wall of random and old school bottle codes, pasta salads etc. Sometimes parking can be hard, especially on Sundays during the farmers market but they are on both doordash and grubhub. read more

Our first and last visit. It is nice that they are open earlier in the morning while most other locations are still sleeping. Plenty of seating in this spacious place. They had a daily Po Boy sandwich advertised which we ordered along with a bottle of soda from their huge selection. $14 and change plus tip. There are a couple of nice enough kids running the place today. The Problem with younger non owners running an establishment is they don't always look at a new customer as a potential repeat customer. We drove miles to Martinez specifically to eat here. We received the PO Boy. It looked exactly ZERO like the picture advertised both in ingredients and size. I found out they have an all day buy a bottle or can drink full price and get the second for a nickel. Cashier could have mentioned that when we ordered. Rating the food is always my first priority in any evaluation. I was only in town (Martinez) for my grandsons soccer game but if I lived near Luigi's it definitely would be my "go to" deli! Following the soccer game my grandson, his parents and grandparents along with our dogs enjoyed various sandwiches, salads, drinks...especially enjoyed buy a beer and get the second one for .05 cents! The service was top notch and the ambiance on the outdoor grass patio with our dogs was perfect! Before leaving we revisited the deli and bought some ready to eat Rigatoni and beet salad along with their delicious bread rolls for tonight's dinner. Not worth the price in my opinion. The only major kudos I'd give, is their sourdough bread was extremely soft. -.5 star for practically no avocado, though I paid extra. -.5 star for mediocre service. The girls making the sandwiches seem like they can't be bothered with. The younger guy working there was nice. -.5 star for no cookies that day. One area I particularly enjoyed was the soda bottle shelf. This took a whole wall as well, and there were many different types of soda bottles, most I have never seen before. The weather was cold that day, but if I visit here next time maybe I'll try one of them. There was a countertop located at the center, where there were pieces of paper to write down your own customized sandwich. For our first visit; however, we decided by choosing an item from the menu. We picked the Luigi's Italian and a cup of coffee. The order was pretty swift; it arrived within a few minutes with the coffee. The sandwich was very good. Absolutely delighted with seeing the Luigi Deli truck in the parking lot of the Power Sports Academy today when attending a basketball tournament. Needed a little something different and healthier from what was offered at the gym's concession stand. Fortunate to meet Luigi himself at the truck and he offered up a tidbit about the history of Martinez and suggested various stores to visit in Martinez's historic town center. Let me tell you about another hidden gem in Martinez, California...Luigi's Deli. The first thing that caught my eye was their outside eating area. It sits outside in a covered area at the side of the building so as to provide shade. Their menu for sandwiches was quite extensive having offered 5 menus filled with their favorite sandwich designs. However, when in doubt, one can order a customized sandwich using their order form. Their Tri tip #44 and also their Turkey sandwich #16 were particularly good. The true test was a customized bacon and cheese sandwich for my daughter. ""This is delicious." I agree completely. What is also impressive was a ginormously large selection of bottle and canned sodas they have along a wall. Words cannot describe the wide selection. I went in to my friendly Martinez deli as Luigi the owner always makes me feel like family went in to get some side salads as I would much rather support a small business that I love. Got some Asiago Pasta salad... There's even more I felt like a Asiago Tonight got a small container that was $3.99 about what you would expect except I would note that Luigi's uses actual farmers market produce and that counts as the quality of produce has dropped in mainline stores. Cut above. To note he doesn't put a lot of salt reason being people are different and salt is available if needed so at your liberty use as your wish. It's beautiful rich and had the veggies you need not short organic Asiago love. I usually get sandwiches when with company as I love a family feel Luigi and Ethan especially make me feel not only content but at home. PS. Sandwiches range on what you like. I like everything on everything which produce the beautiful sandwiches you see on my photos. Luigi gives options please use them especially if your appreciate fresh produce and THE ORIGINAL USER OF BOARS HEAD. I was in the Downtown area doing errands, and wanted a quick bite, I had sen a short line and decided to order a Sammie and a suds for Lunch. I like that they had a Dutch Crunch bread selection and I had ordered a Scarface #3 with a Deschutes Fresh Haze, They had a few tables inside and a couple of patio seats. The sandwich was ready pretty quick and it was really filling. I had only ate 1/2 and took the rest home. They have quite a few beers on draft and a few in HH tubs and coolers. One of the best delis in the East Bay. Great selection of Boars Head meats and cheeses. Great selection of rolls sliced breads too. Several specialty sandwiches on the menu, but I like that you can build your own from their paper menus. I love the pesto mayo and would suggest for anyone looking to spice something up. Great local deli in downtown Martinez! Have been meaning to go here and finally got the chance to stop by. A few customers on Sunday for lunch but they move quickly. Owner was friendly, lots of drinks and snacks inside. Beer special that day - buy one get one for 5 cents. Had the Tuscany and Scarface (cold). You must pick up a slip and write down your order to give to the cashier. You can customize however you like also. There are also daily specials so check the board! You can add drinks and side for extra. Sandwiches are still very affordable - $10-12! Amazing in this day and age of inflation. VERY filling, great meat, soft Dutch crunch bread.
