Wildly popular bakery located in the downtown Benicia area. There's a solid lunch menu with a good variety of items as well as lots of pastries and bread that you can purchase to go.. The space is pretty large. There's seating outside as well as a loft upstairs. It seems like people will come here to do a little work and studying as well. I came here a few times when I was working in the area. The first time I got the ham and butter sandwich on baguette since you can pretty much tell if you're gonna like the bakery based on that classic. On another visit, I got the focaccia salami sandwich. Both sandwiches were excellent. I also got a few pastries to go like a lemon meringue tart and a chocolate/ hazelnut torte. I also bought a few other breads to take home to my family. I honestly was pleased with everything I've gotten from there. I'm blessed with some pretty great bakeries where I live, but this is a place that you would wish is close to you as well.

I first discovered this place when I started getting my hair done in a salon upstairs from where this is located and I come here every so often. It gets very busy, so if you come I've had good luck with little to no line Sunday mornings before 9am. They have many delicious looking treats but my fav is the raspberry cream cheese danish. It's buttery, crunchy and soft on the inside. The raspberry cream cheese filling is so good, perfect balance of sweet raspberry jam and tangy (and slightly sweet) from the cream cheese. Also have tried their cinnamon roll bun, it was tasty. My kids enjoy their cookies. Crunchy on the outside but soft in the middle. Their coffee, for me personally, is hit or miss. Sometimes you get a good latte and other times it has no flavor and taste bitter. So many desserts/pastries though, I would definitely return to try some more!

This bakery is pretty amazing, not only is the food and desserts super yummy they also have such cozy spots to hangout and eat your fresh baked goods or savory snacks plus they have yummy coffees and drinks to go with it too. My book club often meets here to discuss our recently read books while we chat away and enjoy all the yummy snacks they have to offer. I offer will grab a loaf of fresh baked bread and homemade jam to share with our group and it never disappoints there are so many seasonal jams to try I always have a hard time narrowing it down but all of them have been so tasty. The back patio is perfect to hold out meetings as it is big enough to fit us all and the vibe is just perfect! Lots of comfy seats with pillows and hand knitted blankets in case you get chilly! Try it out you won't be disappointed.

After date night in Benicia my husband spotted One House and thought it'd be a great place to grab dessert. It looks like a quaint little bakery on the inside but it's pretty large once you step into the doors. We both ordered tarts and thought they were pleasant- fresh, not too sweet, and perfectly portioned. I don't think I would go out of my way to visit if I had a sweet craving, but I have no problem returning if I'm in the area. I'm wondering if their more bread-like pastries are more enjoyable. The croissants and breads on the display table looked beautiful.

    Heartbeat of bakery shop.

Excellent pastries, coffee and cool sitting area upstairs. It's a popular place so be prepared to wait in line.

Still our favorite local bakery. Today we got BLT subbed the bread with sourdough,Cuban meat pies and almond crossaint. It was packed on a Friday. Service was great and food came out quick.

One House Bakery is truly a Benicia staple and one of our absolute favorite places. Whether we're stopping in for morning coffee, grabbing a sweet treat, or picking up meals to-go for the holidays, it never disappoints. For Thanksgiving, we always order the ham (which everyone raves about!) and the sweet potato casserole -- both are crowd favorites and make hosting so much easier. And at Christmas, the cookie tree is almost too beautiful to eat... almost. It's stunning, festive, and just as delicious as it looks. Everything is made with such care, and you can feel how special this place is to the community. We're so grateful to have One House Bakery -- it's a tradition for our family.

Literally anything you order from here will be incredible. It seems they won't offer something unless they know they can knock it out of the park, putting a lot of thought and skill into every item. Very high quality ingredients. Nice outdoor seating areas as well. Enjoy!

A hidden gem with heart, charm, and seriously delicious bakes One House Bakery is one of those rare spots that feels special the moment you walk in. The inside blends rustic and industrial beautifully - exposed brick, warm wood, metal accents - cozy but modern at the same time. It's the kind of space you want to linger in with a coffee. The baked goods are truly outstanding. Everything tastes homemade in the best way: flaky pastries, rich cookies, and comforting, thoughtfully crafted treats that feel both indulgent and high quality. You can tell they care about ingredients and technique. But the real surprise is the whimsical outdoor space in the back. It feels like a secret garden! It is peaceful, charming, and perfect for catching up with a friend or enjoying a slow morning. It adds so much personality and makes the whole experience feel more than just a bakery stop. If you love artisan baked goods, cozy aesthetics, and places with soul, this is absolutely worth the visit.

Preordered sweet pies for Pi(e) Day- all were delicious
    Angelica G.

Preordered for Pi(e) Day and it was so easy. You order and pay online, and you get to choose a pick up day and time. I love that! I was hoping to pick which pies to get but it is a pre-set savory box and a pre-set sweet box. Of course, I got one of each. Parking was a nightmare. I circled around twice to park at the end of a cross street. I arrived at the pick up window and waited a few minutes. I was a little concerned how to get this back to my car, but the boxes were smaller than anticipated. The photos of their pies on their social media seemed big but I wasn't at all disappointed. The price, however, was a little steep. Next time, I'll definitely be picky about which pies to get next time. I brought the treats over to share with family and it was such a hit! Everything was super tasty, especially the sweet pies. Would I make this purchase again, probably not, but it was nice to experience.

A bakery with gluten free pastries and wine, bubbly, and tea? Wow! Yay! The gluten free Passion Fruit Tart was yummy! Extra tasty with some white wine. I shared the tart and kind of felt like I should've gotten another one. It was cool to watch the staff make the pastries and bread in the back behind the windows. Too bad it wasn't warm because their parklet and back patio looked like a nice place to hang out in.

First time visiting this woman-owned small business in Benicia! It was only 10am and there was already a line almost out the door. BUT, the line moved very quickly. While you wait, you can grab the menus to look through that are posted near the displays. The front can feel a little bit congested when people are trying to go in and out the same entrance that a line is building up near. They've got everything from wine to pot pies and cakes to pizza. I wanted to order so many things but held back as much as I could. Since we came for late breakfast I was looking for something hearty. I ordered a chicken pot pie to go. It was still nice and warm after a 15 minutes drive home. The crust was very soft, flaky, and fairly thin. There was a generous serving of fresh veggies mixed into the filling which I definitely appreciated. It was seasoned well-- the black pepper shined through and the cream sauce wasn't too heavy. I also got a Passion Fruit Raspberry Coconut Tart. I've never had a dessert where the crust was made with shredded coconut. I'll definitely be seeking out more fun crust alternatives when I try out new bakeries now. I really loved the inner parts of the crust that had a nice chew from the coconut and the crispy edges of the crust as well. The passion fruit flavor was a bit mute but it was tart and refreshing. Towards the back of the shop there's some barstool seating that also has an open window where the employees are decorating cakes and weighing out ingredients. Such a fun thing to watch!

I'm still absolutely obsessed with this place! I've never had a bad experience and I always leave with a very full belly lol

That's why it's so disappointing that my experience ended on such a negative note. When I checked out, I was told there was a 50¢ surcharge for using my Visa debit card. I've been told this before in different purchases from this sandwich shop. But I finally asked the gentleman at the counter today about the surcharge, and he told me it was "just how the machine is." When I pulled up the information on my phone explaining that debit card surcharges generally aren't allowed, he dismissed it and said I would have to speak with the owner. When I spoke with the owner, I was hoping for a simple explanation. Instead, she became combative, brushed off my concern, and said, "Everyone around here (Benicia) does it." Which is simply not true. I wasn't trying to argue--I was simply asking about a charge that didn't seem right. The food is genuinely good, but the way my concern was handled left a bad impression. If you pay with a debit card, I'd recommend checking your receipt carefully to make sure you know exactly what you're being charged. I hope the business reviews its payment practices and takes customer concerns more seriously in the future. Before they are reported to the state's department of Justice or to the county department of weight and measures by someone for their charging practices.
