I've heard great things about the Grind from wife who checked them out about a month ago. Came here for lunch and got their Philly Cheesesteak special that came with a bag of chips and a drink. The sandwich was made fresh and had excellent flavor. One of the best cheesesteaks I've had in a while. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. The lounge area is a cool spot to enjoy your food/drink, have a friendly chat, or do some work on your laptop. The people and the vibes are great! 'The Grind Cafe' is definitely worth a visit. CREW+ATMOSPHERE: The atmosphere was amazing! Perfect for brunch with your crew, the family, a date, or by yourself. Seriously, they have the PERFECT location. It is a nice, relaxing place fit for studying, chatting, or chilling. The crew that helped us were cool and nice. They were knowledgeable and accommodating. FOOD: My coffee was not extraordinary. I had a latte. By itself it wasn't anything to write home about. I went with my mom and she said the same thing about her coffee. Next time I'll get a mocha, or something adjacent, and see how I fancy that. I had a croissant hot link sandwich which was good, but I wish I asked for some type of spread to go on it. That would have made the sandwich a 10/10. If I was to be picky, I would wish for the croissant bread itself to be fluffier and flakier, but croissants are difficult (and delicious). I tried my mom's breakfast burrito. The potatoes in it needed more love. It wasn't super, but adequate. The absolute best item that I had during my time at 'The Grind Cafe' was the frozen lemonade!!! It was SHMACK! I mixed flavors -- I believe it was green apple and mango. I would go again simply for the frozen lemonade; a perfect treat for everyone. Second time coming here last week. They serve breakfast and lunch items. I got their breakfast burrito that comes with eggs, cheese, bacon, hot link and sausage. It was tasty! Its a lit though! Toi much food for me! Staff is very friendly. I was actually serving on a jury trial and found out that The Grind caters lunches for jurors. I'd still recommend it if you're craving something more chocolate-y than strawberry. Baristas were friendly and greeted me when I walked in. I've been seeing and hearing about this place on social media, so after getting my nails done today, I decided it was finally time to try it. As soon as I walked in, I was warmly greeted by the barista, who stopped what she was doing to come over and help me at the register. When I told her it was my first time there, she encouraged me to take my time because they have so many great options. I ended up choosing a caramel macchiato and, surprisingly, a hot link sandwich. Then I grabbed a table in their very cute seating area--total coffee shop vibes. A short time later, the barista brought out my drink and sandwich, and I was thoroughly impressed, especially with the hot link sandwich. It was made perfectly. My coffee actually tasted like coffee--not watered down like at some places. They've definitely gained a repeat customer. I'm more than happy to support this great Black-owned business! read more

Had Lovely Jury Duty and the Grind Cafe is right across the street. Very friendly staff, I was greeted as I came in. Plenty of seating inside, they play great music and it's really clean inside. Ordered a chai latte with oat milk and their toasted tomato sandwich. My chai was perfect with the right ratio of chai and milk. My sandwich was yummy, I really liked the pesto and garlic butter spread. Would def come back to try their jalapeño popper burrito. My fiancé and I have been exploring more spots in Vallejo and this one did not disappoint us. Folks were super friendly, the menu options endless, and plenty of indoor, electic seating. We love that this a black owned business, the food is on point, and they even hold events in their stage area -- super communal! We got a favorite of ours, breakfast burritos and it was so so good. The only downside about my order was the lemonade. It's not fresh squeezed or homemade; they use country time powder (saw it with my own eyes). Always love an excuse to drop in here. Haven't visited since before the expansion. I walked in and saw a special for Biscoff Latte and Matcha Dubai Chocolate. I got the Dubai and stopped everything to post that IT TASTES JUST LIKE THE DUBAI CHOCOLATE CANDY, but well balanced with the coffee. I had mine with almond milk and it goes really well together. NO acknowledgement/greetings from staff when we first entered the restaurant, to not knowing what or how to order from a menu that's tucked way in the corner. This is a great locally-owned cafe. I've purchased a few different drinks for myself, and for my stepmother. All have been delicious. Her favorites have been their caramel creme brulee, and one of their mochas specials (I don't remember which one but they've all been good). My favorite so far is the horchata coffee with light milk (plant-based). I've also ordered a few different breakfast sandwiches for my stepmom and she's loved them. The portions were pretty big, each time I've gotten her something she's had leftovers to enjoy later. I definitely do plan to try a few items on their menu, I'll update my review once I do. One note: they have vegan options so keep them in mind if you're looking for something plant-based to eat in Vallejo. There is a kiosk when you enter that you can use to order, or you can order with the barista. You can also order ahead online if you're in a time crunch. The customer service I've received has been great. There was a visit where they were out of something that the system allowed me to order. They were super apologetic about it and they offered me a refund or the opportunity to try something else in its place. The pricing is higher than some of the local competitors but so is the service and quality. read more

Stumbled upon this place while staying in Vallejo for a local wedding. Since then, been here 3 times (2x online order pickup, 1x in person) and this is one the best casual, easy, breakfast places near Vallejo area. I really enjoy their bacon and egg croissant sandwich, toasted tomato provolone croissant, bagel pesto sandwich, or sometimes even just a croissant with pesto is delish. Great to eat when I see family in SF and need a quick pick me up! The interior is super cozy and nice for studying or sitting down! Call me a sucker for a cute coffee shop, and The Grind Cafe checks nearly ticks all the boxes. First, the positives... and there are plenty. Our drinks were delicious and came in generous portions for a medium. (I'm looking at you, Grande.) There were also plenty of comfortable seats, perfect for settling in with a good book. Second, I noticed a steady flow of people coming and going with styrofoam takeout boxes, which is always a good sign. Clearly, the food is worth coming back for. I didn't try any on this visit, but it's on my list for next time. Third, the Bible scriptures posted on the walls gave the space a warm and intentional vibe. I saw they even host church services on Sundays, which made me smile. Now for the one downside, and it really has nothing to do with the cafe itself. The location isn't in the safest part of Vallejo, and while I love this town, I'm also aware that I need to stay cautious and aware of my surroundings when I'm in this area. That said, the atmosphere, the drinks, the potential for great food, and the heart behind this place definitely won me over. I'll definitely be back! read more

I'm a fair Yelper. I've decided the upgrade my review to 3.5 stars mainly because the food and coffee are so very good. The waffles are absolute clouds of perfection and the coffee is so hot that it warms my body and soul. Today I came in with my family. We ordered two sausage waffle sandwiches, a waffle plate, a small hot lavender white mocha, and a medium chai latte hot. The coffee and tea came out surprisingly quick compared to my last experience. Normally, I take a pass on chai drinks, but this chai made me regret not ordering a large! The warmth of the spices and creaminess of the tea were nicely complimented by the temperature of the drink. I believe that tea should touch your heart and soul to the point where your entire day is brightened, and that's exactly what this cup of chai did. The lavender white mocha will always be my favorite because the blend of the two flavors is unbeatable and it always hits the spot. The waffles and the waffle sandwiches were literally clouds of perfection. The waffles are thick, but light and served with maple syrup and whipped salted butter. The sausage was mildly spiced and went well with the sweetness of the waffle and the savoriness of the egg. I appreciate that they make the egg fresh and don't use frozen egg patties. The Grind has won a spot in my good graces and continue to be my favorite cafe. read more

Had lunch here during my lunch break from jury duty. It's conveniently located just across the street from the courthouse and County buildings. The jalapeño popper burrito was great! If you're a big fan of jalapeño poppers or jalapeño on nachos, the jalapeños definitely shine in this meal. The potatoes and bacon were an added bonus. I ended up eating only half of my burrito since the half was already so filling. The salsa it comes with is good too! They do regular coffee and fancy drinks. The Biscoff cookie latte was definitely worth trying. I had the jalapeño popper breakfast burrito and it was huge. Really delicious a little spicy definitely worth the money. I also happen to get a sandwich here for lunch and it was actually really well-made. Not a great first experience. Came here when I had jury duty and ordered a latte and pastry before heading in. There was one person ahead of me and three people behind me when I finished my order. The lady ahead of me got her drink walked out to her and handed to her. I thought great, my drink will be brought out to me. Not the case, I see all three of the people after me get the their latte type drinks and walk out before I get mine. After 10 minutes I got up and they were just finishing warming my pastry.
