Been here a few times and the food was decent and all. Obviously get their donuts from another bakery or distributor, but that's how it goes some places. Now for the reason I'm even writing this. We walked in this morning with my children getting cranky because they were sitting around with me waiting for our tires to get changed before we came here. Anyways, I let my two youngest children choose theirs then my two older ones were taking a moment (actually moment as in you can measure the time with less than a handful of seconds) some lady leans over the counter to the worker and asks for a donut, the worker obliged (no problem) then the worker put the tongs down to go ring the lady who cut in the middle of us ordering. Maybe I'm getting old and this is the new way of doing business but I'll be dammed if I go out my way to spend the money I make while having to be apart from my family only to have another person take over the service I was receiving! I will never return here and give them the opportunity to disrespect me or my family again! Funny enough as I'm walking out some random guy hears me cussing out loud and yells over to me "that f$&king lady huh!?" lol how does everyone but me know they have horrible customer service here!? My fault for not knowing I drove off and realized my two youngest still had their individually bagged donuts (2 total donuts) so I made a u turn and drove back to toss the bags back into their counter so they don't think I was leaving for a free donut. I left because they have NO respect for families who choose to support their local crap business. I'm still clapping after eating here! JEEZ! When walking in, you are immediately greeted by a wonderful lady who directed us to take any seat available. I got super comfy town diner feels when sitting down like if you come here often all of the regulars will know your name hahaha The PLUS is that they had the morning news up on their TV so I felt like I was at home since I usually catch up with what's going on in the world first thing in the morning. I ordered the CHICKEN FRIED STEAK and ooooohhhhh weeeee! It was perfect! It came with 2 perfectly cooked sunny side up eggs, hash browns, and a good sized chicken fried steak that was topped with gravy that at first bite just gives you that home cooked/ soul filling feel! The sourdough toast was generously buttered with an assortment of jams on the table to choose from. I'll take a strawberry one hahaha If you like heat, I suggest getting that hot sauce bottle labeled "Ray'" and putting that on your hash browns! It was my first time having it and WOW! I. LOVED. IT. What's Tabasco again??? Hahaha It'd go great on tacos, a burrito, anything! I was close to asking if I could buy one hahaha The coffee is good and strong! I live just around the corner and originally stopped for the apple fritters and donuts. Hands down they have the best apple fritters in the area! My husband and I went a few times. He loves the breakfast and I love the club sandwich. But the other day I tried their burger and it was super yummy. But that's not the only reason we love it here. The staff is beyond friendly and makes you feel like they have known you forever. The place is a clean cute whole in the wall which I can appreciate. We have lived at our home for 10 years and I wish I would have come sooner. If you are in the area this is a great American style food diner that you shouldn't pass by. read more

Been to Scotty's several times over the years and the service has gone down hill. Every now and again, I want to go back and give them another shot incase it was just not the greatest day. Well, we did go back a few times since our initial bad experience. My family went in for food and donuts to-go. As my family was ordering with the older Asian lady, she kept stepping away to help other customers and accept their payments. It's like she couldn't take our order and keep her focus on us for a literal two minutes. Each time we've gone here the service has gotten worse, same lady btw. read more

They don't know what comes on a shrimp Louie salad. Ordered 2...hour before closing at 2 pm. They didn't have olives, used hot grilled shrimp instead of cold salad shrimp and no eggs. Should be called a Grilled Shrimp Salad...not a Louie. Also donut box too small for the larger donuts...squished together where icing is stuck to each other. I came to Scotty's a couple weeks ago with a friend. She ordered a Pepsi. It came to the table. Problem was there were ants all over the drink. My other guest said don't complain. She did not. But she did not drink the Pepsi. This was odd. Rest of meal was typically Scotty's good. However we were cautious. I know staff noticed this later. My husband and I came in to get donuts and were not greeted at all; no acknowledgment, no "one moment," nothing. Both employees simply stared at us and continued working. After about two minutes, one of the staff members approached us with a very dry attitude and started to help us, at the same time, two other customers walked in and were greeted immediately. Easy parking Easy seating- basically find a spot Fair diner atmosphere- a little upkeep for the shared items like menus would help and be appreciated I like the menu and honestly my hubby brought me breakfast from here last summer but yesterday was my first time eating in. It seems like a Vallejo staple, I believe I read since 1937. I definitely have an affinity for Nostalgic locations. I had a Jacks scramble with spinach and mushrooms, sourdough toast, and hash browns; one teen had French toast; other teen pancakes with sausage and eggs (she ate my hash browns). This place used to be a gem in Vallejo but no longer. It is under new ownership and has really gone downhill. We went a few weeks ago and the place was not clean and in great need of a remodel. Seats were torn and dirty. The tables, and bar stools were also worn. The service is ok if you can get the servers on a good day. Ours was a little grumpy and seemed put out when we requested extra napkins, fresh cream for coffee, etc. Their cream is on the tables in an old fashioned silver server that sits on the table all morning so if you go for a late breakfast it has been sitting there for almost 4 hours and it didn't smell good. Their sugar is also kept in a very dirty used glass server with a flip lid that is always crusted over and doesn't look very clean. Our food came out cold and the hash brown potatoes were almost raw. (See photo) Another problem for us is that the place is "cash only". There is an ATM inside the restaurant and you are referred to it by the servers in a very grumpy manner if you even give them the slightest protest about not being able to use your credit card. I witnessed this happening about 3 times while we were there when someone tried to just come in for donuts at the counter. Also beware that this area has a lot of homeless and they sometimes hang out around the restaurant. High crime area so keep your valuables out of sight if you go. End of an era due to new ownership. The rating on Yelp of 3.5 stars is about right for me. I'm surprised it's not mentioned more prominently in other reviews Scotty's is cash only! No credit cards. I've passed by Scotty's many times but it was only when we had trouble one weekend finding breakfast open by the farmers market we finally made our way here. It's located in a small strip mall type lot with an open parking lot. Finding parking wasn't too difficult. It's a simple classic old school looking diner set up. Ordered a Queen's omelet that came with hash browns. The service was wonderful. Very timely. The food came out very quickly. Unfortunately I personally didn't love the food hence the 3.5 stars. The hash browns weren't crispy. They were a bit floppy. The cheese in the omelet was a square slice of kraft's singles type cheese. So Scotty's wasn't right for me. But others seem to love it! If you like classic diner breakfast Scotty's could be a hit for you. read more

Many thanks to Scotty's for continuing to serve the community when they could've cut n' run from this hope-forsaken town years ago. Lifelong local perspective here, although Scotty's was never much on my radar for no particular reason. Recently stopped in to compare them to some of my regular A.M. breakfast haunts around town. Not a ton of early AM options outside of fast food in this city. Bonus points for them simply being open & avail. My order was their corned beef & hash, usually a personal fave. And I wasn't disappointed with the dish. Decent greeting & service upon entry. With a smallish hometown diner feel, Scotty's is a slightly more wallet-friendlier option to Nation's, Black Bear Diner, Buttercup Kitchen & Denny's by comparison. And it compares favorably in most categories with these other choices. Food quality, packaging & presentation all were adequate. I remember one time them offering nice pastries & donuts behind a glass counter near the pay station. But, apparently, their donut vendor doesn't service the biz anymore and it's unclear if they'll return to pastry service? They may be missing out on upsell opportunities for patrons wishing to add a few pastries or for those just passing thru for coffee & donuts to go? Good, aromatic selection of flavored coffees for quick take-out when you 1st enter the restaurant. Due to Covid, masks are currently required for service, which is a good thing, except when eating/ drinking (per posted entry sign). However, I'm not sure I'd feel comfortable or safe within the somewhat cramped dining quarters here in light of the new Omicron variant. Social distancing looks to be a challenge here. This isn't a knock against the business necessarily, just the realities of the current health scare environ we're in. Score Scotty's! I'll be returning for more take-out orders soon. read more

Came on Sunday for brunch and only waiting 10 mins to be seated. Hubs had an omelette and I had the eggs benedict. No complaints...perfectly poached eggs and crispy hash browns. Hollandaise didn't taste like it was made from scratch but it was still good. Portions are generous too! Great placed for breakfast/brunch and even lunch (they have some burgers/sandwiches). They are open 364 days a year (only closed on xmas) for breakfast and lunch! Typical diner fare but it's good, hot, and cheap! My last post regarding Scotty's cafe was 8yrs ago This place had great food back then. I am not sure if Mae and her family sold Scotty's to someone else or what but just 2 weeks ago I went there with my kids Hash browns where still raw and super mushy nasty to say it all, my kid was offered chips, salad , fruit or French fries as an alternative she asked for Cesar salad, the young women left to get salad comes back to say no Cesar dressing available asks for you want ranch instead yes my kid replied We get her so call Cesar salad, salad had a few tomatoes, carrots and lettuce that's all where is the parm cheese where are the croutons none So we call the older lady over she takes the plate comes back with shredded cheese and over loaded salad with croutons lol. Food was not good at all not like it was back 8yrs ago. Diners be aware of you go your food maybe different. Back to question does anyone know if this place is under new ownership read more

So, here's the deal with Scotty's. They have been great. A local staple, and I would have definitely recommend in the past. I grew up with Scotty's. However, as of the last few years, they've gone down hill. This morning (and like every other take out order we've had) they've screwed up and half asses the order. I ordered a half order of biscuits and gravy, corned beef hash, extra crispy and extra gravy in the side. Usually they do.....ok. It's one biscuit with gravy ALREADY of it. 1. This time, I got a biscuit. Just a biscuit and a container, with a separate container of gravy, only half filled. Which I paid an extra $4 for... 2. They cannot do a CRISPY hashbrowns or CRISPY corn beef hash to save their life. Then when you go in and sit down there soggy and cold half the time. When we get takeout order we always have to come home and essentially re-cook the whole breakfast. For the price I paid, this should not be an issue, I'm more inclined from here on out to go to Denny's, which is sad. And with Covid right now, you're not even doing sit down dining, so how hard can it really be?? Our of our entire order, the only things that were done right where the pancakes and the Denver omelette. Everything else, they dropped the ball. Scotty's, please get it together.
