Amazing service- called 24 hours before needing a cake and I was helped with urgency. Fast response- I filled out the order form and answered all my questions over the phone. Delicious cake - cake looked so beautiful and the taste was 10/10!!! Price was right-the price is reasonable and would pay more for the overall look and taste. I can't recommend Cakes by Karl enough! Karl did an incredible job with our wedding cake and our special mini cake order for our family dinner the night before. As a big fan of Food Network's Halloween Baking Championship, I was thrilled to support a local winner, and he did not disappoint! The cake tasting experience was amazing. Karl offered a variety of flavors to try, making it hard to choose just two for our wedding cake. We ended up ordering mini cake samples for our family dinner so that everyone could try a few more flavors. Unfortunately, a little mishap occurred when ants took over the mini cakes while we were out to dinner. But Karl really went above and beyond--he quickly stepped in to help and delivered a fresh batch of mini cakes to our wedding the very next day. It's rare to see that kind of customer care! The wedding cake itself was a masterpiece. It looked just like the inspiration pictures I had shared with Karl, and it tasted even better! We chose a tier of vanilla cake with strawberries and a chocolate tier for the top--both were absolute hits. So let's get into this cake. I was throwing my bro in law a party for his bday and a girlfriend asked me to do the cake as she wanted to use Karl. I agreed and let her order the cake. This cake was amazing. It was white cake with fresh strawberries with whip cream in the inside. Made the cake a jazz theme with fire dept as he is a fire captain. Everything on the cake was edible and the service I heard was great. The cake was delicious too. Brought it to a Pickelball (fastest growing sport in the USA) happy-hour function and it was a smash and not a dink! The cake was light, moist, not overly sweet with plenty of mango flavor. Beautiful cake and customizable options. We ordered their coffee cake. My family wasn't too happy with the flavor. We couldn't really detect the taste of the coffee. The cake was moist with elegant decoration. They have a nice shop with some variety of desserts. We may try a different cake flavor but will probably order by slice to sample before buying another whole cake. read more

The cream to cake ratio was 50/50. There was so much butter cream it was hard for all our guest and myself to eat. I ordered the cake for my 1 year olds bday. It also had a hearty price tag as well. Quite disappointed as we couldn't even finish half the cake with 30 people. Everyone tried to scrape off the butter cream to salvage what they could eat. read more

If you have a sweet tooth, please do stop into Cakes by Karl! My best friend is getting married and we were looking for places to do her cake tasting and my boyfriend recommended this place, so I knew I had to try it. We stopped in and left with this delicious treat. It's the perfect amount of sweetness and the berries on top make it really refreshing. This is probably one of my favorite places to get red velvet cake now. I know her cakes will be different for the wedding, but if they taste anything like this I will be frequenting that dessert table all night. read more

We sampled the cake flavors by taking a variety of cupcakes to the assisted living facility Cogir. My aunt selected the devils food with salted caramel. The cake we ordered had cream cheese filling with the salted caramel and buttercream icing on the outside. The cake was not only beautiful but it was delicious beyond expectation. The buttercream was melt in your mouth with just the right amount of sweetness. Definitely the best cake we have had since Katrina Rozelle closed. read more

The welcoming and clean environment of his shop already had me feeling positive about stopping to find out more about who Karl was and what he could offer as I needed to find a baker to make my daughter's quinceañera cake. After meeting Karl that day and leaving his bakery knowing we were definitely in good hands due to his warmth, humor, and professionlism, he did not disappoint during the tasting and execution of the cake and desserts ordered. The staff are delightful, considerate, and friendly. The Dark Chocolate Hennessey was fantastic (dark chocolate lover here) and for dessert I got a sleeve of the chocolate chip cookies, fresh out of the back. They were also GREAT! A little late to review but I asked Karl to make me a small birthday cake based on two pics and a description of what I wanted and it came out sooo beautiful. I loved the whole real flowers look on cakes. The inside was red velvet, one of my fav flavors that I know they do well. It also tastes great even after freezing! Tall, moist, richly flavored, and reasonably priced. Been wanting to visit this local gem. Cakes by Karl made a name for himself from winning a famous bake off competition #HalloweenBakingChampionship of ⁦@FoodNetwork⁩! So of course, I'm an immediate local fan and must support. For my birthday this year I opted to try the Japanese Cotton Cheesecake. OMGodddddd! It is heavenly delicious. Super light but lots of flavor. I mean WOW. So, yes, I highly recommend this bakery. I also tried the Red Velvet cupcake. Scrumptious! I devoured that cupcake LOL! 8/3/21 Update: I tried the Salted Caramel cupcake with my sis. Jaw dropping delicious! The icing (on the mocha side) was so creamy with a hint of salted caramel. I think this could be my #1 choice of cupcake. But then again, I haven't tried all the flavors yet. I will definitely return to Cakes by Karl. If you are getting married in the Napa area, or Bay Area, and you want mini desserts for your wedding, book Karl!! His desserts were delicious and such a hit with everyone!! People were grabbing them by the handfuls and commented on how much they loved all the desserts. We ordered mini shooters of the mango mousse and chocolate hennessy, and got the mini fruit tart and red velvet cupcake. He made everything look beautiful and the colors were so vibrant. Everything was delicious!!! He made pickup easy and he delivers for a small fee too. Karl is incredibly nice and so easy to work with. The tasting was so fun as well. We got to try some awesome desserts and my partner said that was the most fun, and easiest part of wedding planning. The disappointment was since their website doesn't work, I usually order by phone but tonight I needed to go online, so I went through Yelp ( which I guess is grub hub) I went to pick up and while waiting, I noticed the prices I paid was anywhere from $1-$3 above the prices in restaurant per item. When I asked about it staff said because of grub hub charges. I picked up the food myself, never used their service. So either order by phone and to the management/owner fix your website to be able to order. I spent enough for dinner didn't need to be charged more for a service I didn't use. Would have been different if I k ew about charges or had it delivered!!

She went above and beyond to create the prefect cake and desserts for our special day. I was able to bounce ideas off of her and she had some great suggestions for flavors and designs to fit my theme. The cake- I absolutely LOVED my cake!! We went with a simple, more rustic design, with navy blue piping to add a pop of color. Diana worked with my florist to decorate the cake using succulents and an assortment of flowers. It was beautiful! The tiers were all different flavors and all incredible. The top tier was a coconut rum cake. Traditionally the top tier is saved for the one year anniversary, but we couldn't wait so we ate it on the 46th day of being married. Haha! It was everything I hoped it would be. The other layers consisted of a lemon cake with lemon curd filling (Big hit!), a chocolate swirl cake with mocha filling (my personal favorite from the day) and a vanilla cake with Bavarian cream filling (Simple and delicious!). The dessert bar- We decided to do 3 different types of mini desserts for the dessert bar. All of the desserts were gone before dinner was over! We had mini chocolate mousse with whipped cream, mini mascarpone and berry tarts (some with strawberries and others with blueberries) and navy blue macarons with white filling. Everyone raved about the dessert bar and wished there was more. Diana personally delivered everything and came in and set it all up before the wedding. It was all just perfect! Thank you for making all my dessert dreams come true! I cannot wait to find an excuse to use you again.

Almost every single order has had issues, wrong items, missing items or both. It's become a pattern, not just a one time mistake. On top of that, communication is extremely poor. There's no effort to fix the issue or even acknowledge it when something goes wrong. What makes it worse is the in store experience. The employees are consistently rude and give off a very unwelcoming attitude. It honestly feels like you're being judged or brushed off just for being there. At this point, it's just not worth the hassle. If you're thinking about ordering delivery from this location... good luck. I hope management takes a step back and works on order accuracy, better communication, and basic customer service. A little attention to detail and a more respectful attitude toward customers would make a huge difference.

He wouldn't even talk with me, just kept shaking his head as if he didn't know anything about the ATM in HIS STORE. I didn't accuse him, I just wanted a number so I could dispute the issue with correct person, but he refused to engage.

Normally I don't have an issue with the fresh meat and seafood I purchase from here (Costco Vallejo…read more#132) so this evening I bought a bag of fresh mussels ($13.50). But when I got them home, they had been in an airtight wrapper too long and were all dead. Dinner plans out the window. I immediately called the number on the receipt and spoke to a manager. I told him the situation and he told me to put them in a trash bag and bring them in for a refund. I told him I'd already thrown them in the trash and he cut me off and stated that they would only refund them if I brought them back. I told him I didn't want to hold onto rotting seafood for 24 hours before I could bring them back and he flatly told me that was my only option. Well, I'm out $13.50 and I can promise you I won't ever buy mussels from Costco again. Note to Costco Vallejo: if you're reading this, live seafood should not be stored in airtight plastic wrap for more than a few hours. Otherwise, the animals suffocate which appears to have happened in this case. Also, the manager I spoke to (7:55 pm, April 7th, 2026) was unsympathetic and didn't even apologize for the inconvenience this caused. I guess I expected too much for his version of "Customer Support".
