He tells us that for a full refund we would have to bring back the uneaten cake.?Unfortunately we didn't know our cake was wrong until we cut into it at OUR PARTY where yes it needed to be served as it was the only cake we bought. This company is a jooooke. Couldn't even do the right thing when they were alllll wrong. My boyfriend's parents put us in charge of their 50th anniversary party and I knew instantly I wanted to get them a special cake. No costco, no Whole Foods but a real bakery from a real local business. We would have used cakes by Karl ( also in Vallejo) but they did not do marble cake which we knew we wanted in order to match their original wedding cake. Tony's had marble cake as an option and good Yelp reviews so I thought I had found the perfect match! We did the online order form as requested, and my boyfriend confirmed with a woman on the phone TWICE( once the wk our cake was due) that our order was correct and we were on the same page. We even paid in full before we ever got our cake. When we arrived to pick uour cake up yesterday it was beautiful but it was WRONG!! We asked for a marble cake with chocolate buttercream frosting. No other flavors, fillings, or stuffings just marble cake with chocolate frosting. We got a cake covered in white frosting!!! We told the lady we asked for chocolate frosting and she checked her order form to prove us wrong but quickly realized she was wrong and then went to work making chocolate frosting right there in front of us. We were there to pick up our cake for a agreed upon time of 10:30 and we had to wait an additional 30 minutes for her to scrape the white frosting off, make chocolate frosting, and then redecorate our cake with the fresh flowers we ordered. " Tony" could be seen in the back decorating right in front of the girl who was doing our cake and he never addressed us or her about the lack of professionalism. He was probably rightfully embarrassed but it was sad to not see a business owner own up to their mistakes and make things right. No one should show up to cake pick up with the complete wrong cake. To make matters worse... yes it get worse than watching your cake scraped and remade in front of you. When we actually cut the cake at our party...it was wrong too!!! We got the marble cake but with a layer of white frosting in the middle and STRAWBERRIES?!!!! The chocolate frosting we asked for was completely disregarded!!!l They effed this cake up. It was nasty. No one asked where it was from. No one took home the leftovers. This place I feel is in over their heads. I do NOT recommend. read more

This is one of many cakes we have ordered from Tony's. This kid is so talented!!! I didn't initially understand his approach, but Tony really wants your cake to be something special. He NEVER sells already decorated cakes. Unlike regular cake shops He keeps a base of plain undecorated cakes and only decorates with what YOU want. It may take a few minutes, but he whips that cream FRESH! in front of you and decorates your cake. My Granddaughter does NOT eat cake!(really don't like it) but will eat Tony's (confetti/vanilla) . He made a simple 1/2 cake for my Brothers Birthday not fancy at all. But it's the TASTE!!! It's so chocolatey and moist. I'm giving a five star review because my daughter was extremely happy with the outcome of her bday cake The red velvet was fantastic. Everything was perfect. She got a picture of some characters printed on the cake per her request. When I picked up the cake on the scheduled day I asked if it would be good to refrigerator till the following day when we were having a party The person helping me said that would fade. When I asked if there was anything I could do to prevent it, I got a response that I interpreted as being smart ass, and he said ordered for the day you actually needed it. Considering I'm not a baker or don't know anything about cakes. I think that would be a good question to ask when somebody orders a cake with a picture printed on it, not just when do you wanna pick it up but what's the actual day of the party. Regardless of that, I will definitely use them in the future, I will just ask more questions, and I highly recommend There's another cake shop down the street. I was surprised to find that Tony's Cakes was a short drive away from our house. It was my husband's birthday and I wanted to get him a cake. My Auntie who has been ordering from Tony's cakes has been bringing in treats from this place for family gatherings and I figured I get a cake for my husband from here since everything she has brought for the family has been pretty delicious! I ordered the cake by phone. It was a tres leches cake with whipped cream and strawberries. The lady who helped me on the phone was very nice. They get all the info from you through the phone and you make a deposit, then they send you a confirmation about the order. The cake itself was delicious and not too sweet! The shop is located on a busy street so make sure you drive by slow when it's coming up on your GPS! The inside of the store is super cute and they have candles too if you're like me who forgot to get candles, lol! All the workers were very friendly, they have cake examples available for you to check out. Their online website is also very helpful! I'm out of state and ordered a custom cake for my mother's birthday and it was a hit. Everyone loved the design and taste and a few people even made note to check this place out for themselves. Whipped topping is my recommendation for best taste, though it seems that choice may limit your design options but it wasn't a factor in my situation. California is known for its cartoonishly overpriced cost of everything but apparently custom cakes is where they draw the line. Maybe I came on a bad day, not sure, but I know I'll never spend another dime here. I placed my order 9 days in advance for pickup at 11am on 7/6. The woman who took my order was very thorough.. down to frosting types, fillings, sprinkles, and colors. It felt like I was in good hands. On the day of, I called to ask if I could change the pickup time to 12pm instead of 11am. After repeating my name and full order three times, they asked if I could come at 11:30. I said 12, and they agreed. I arrived at 12, gave my name again, and they still seemed confused. Five minutes of scrambling later, they told me it would be 15 more minutes. I was irritated--I needed to get to my daughter's birthday party to set up. After 23 minutes, they handed over the order. No sprinkles on the cupcakes (which I had clearly asked for), and I had to remind them. Then they asked if I wanted sprinkles on the cake pops, which had already been discussed when I placed the order. I ordered: * 24 cupcakes (half vanilla, half chocolate, NO filling) * 12 cake pops * 12 chocolate-covered strawberries Every cupcake had some kind of cream filling. I was furious as I had specifically said no filling. The cake pops had no flavor at all, easily the worst I've ever had. And apparently this bakery doesn't have boxes that fit cake pops? Ridiculous. The strawberries were okay, probably the only edible thing in the order. I had high hopes based on the reviews, but this was a disaster. This is the 2nd year we've gotten our daughters Bday cake from them. Unfortunately my husband was in charge of getting her cake this year and did not remember our HORRIBLE experience and HORRIBLE cake from last year. First of all, last year when we ordered, I ordered WEEKS in advance. The MORNING at around 8am of PICKUP DAY I get a call from a lady asking to clarify decorations of the cake and nothing of concern. I let the lady know we were on the way to pick up soon, she said maybe 20min-30min behind. That would've been fine, but these people lied and it took almost 2 hours! Look at the disgusting cake they made, couldn't even stand up straight when being cut because it was extremely dry and the filling in the middle was a joke. I honestly didn't even bother to make a review last year, just figures I wouldn't ever order from them again. But since this year it was god awful again, I need to warn y'all. DRY AGAIN. And look how ugly the writing is. So unprofessional. The funny thing is, they use BOXED CAKE BOTH TIMES, you could tell it's literally boxed cake taste. Tony did a fantastic job creating our two cakes! For the first cake, we surprised my parents that we were pregnant on Christmas day. I asked for a New Years Theme cake and he nailed it! We got the chocolate cake with buttercream frosting and it was delicious! For the second cake, we celebrated my husband's birthday with a gender reveal. My Doctor gave us the gender in an envelope and we wanted it to be a surprise for us and everyone at our party. I went into the shop and gave the envelope to Tony's Mom who made a copy of it and she put it right back in the envelope. This was the most beautiful cake I've ever seen and it was so thoughtfully created. All of our guests were in awe and we ordered funfetti with buttercream frosting (my husband's fav). It was so delicious and the frosting color was a beautiful bright blue color to signify we are having a baby boy! Thank you to Tony, his family, and his staff for making both of these moments unforgettable and so special for such a precious time in our lives. P.S. We are extremely disappointed to post this 1-star review for Tony's cake. We got a good service last year, so I left a 5-star review. I did a mistake by not looking at the recent Yelp reviews. Their service have gone down and prices have gone up a lot. Fast forward to now. I got a call from their bakery, they said Tony has a last minute emergency so she can't do the upper part of the cake as originally decided. Instead she'll do a plain layer. Cake delivery date is tomorrow and my kid's birthday is on Monday. Add to that they were extremely rude over the phone with a clear take it or leave it attitude. After discussing with my wife, we requested them to refund us our advance deposit. To that they want us to come to their store, which I'm not going to do. WARNING: Do NOT give them full payment for your order. Better yet go to a different baker. There are plenty. Terrible professionals. Edit 7/21/24: They've issued a refund of the advanced deposit. Once again UNPROFESSIONAL AND RUDE Tony is rude as hell! We went here 4 weeks prior to my daughter's event and talked to the old lady about the flavor, color and where to put the bday greetings. We specifically told her to put it around the cardboard because of the design. Pick up tine is 11 am. But i think its for 10-11 am if i remember correctly. The whole time we were there tony didnt even acknowldge us, no Hi, didnt even smile and just said thank u when we were about to leave, but hes always like that. And for some reason always look upset towards his employees, i dont know if he chooses who greets but we never get greeted by him everytime we go there. So on april 20th @11am , i sent my daughter and her cousin to pick up up the cake, the lady told them to come back in 30 mins, mind you , my daughter seen an icing mix in bowl with same color theme as my daughter's cake and was just telling her cousin that oh thats the same color as what we picked for her sister's cake. So when the lady told her to come back she was already thinking that they just finished the cake, and based of what she told her that the cake just needed time to be in fridge because of the icing. So she went home and i was already getting pissed because we were all busy that day because its for 18th bday and everybody is doing their own errands. 11:30 i called and a lady answered, i asked if the cake will be ready before i send my daighter back, she then started telling me tony is still working on it, so i asked her how come the cake is not ready when its pick up time is 11am, she was telling me she doesnt know what i wanted her to do, she cant do anytjing becuase tony is literally working on cake as of that moment. And i said we are busy that day i just need to know the time when will it be ready, she told me she doesnt know. She cant give me time . The cake is in front of tony and he is working on the cake and that she would just call me when its ready. I heard tony in backgorund saying something like hes working on it. Another hour passed, she called me and i sent my husband there to get the cake. I looked at the cake and it was messy as hell . They put the writing on top instead of around the cardboard so i gave them a call. She told me to bring the cake back and she would transfer it to a bigger cardboard so she can put the writing there but never mentioned about the top and how they would do it. She was just saying bring the cake back they will try to fix it. This was alreasy 12-12:30 My husband went there and they were telling him it would take a while if we wanted them to fix it, like wtf! I just decided to just take the cake back! And my husband said tony told him next time to just ordrer online. No apology or anything. The reason we went in person is so that we can explain better what we want and because the last time i tried ordering online , i never heard back from them., u can even read tony's response to my last review to just go in person. he's contradicting himself. They didnt even offer to just deliver the cake when they were clearly the reason of all the inconvinence that day. Never again! And this time i will make sure to tell all people i know of how rude this guy is . A little smile can go along way and would probably change your mood that day. Lack of customer service from owner himself. I ordered cupcakes from Tony's for my boss. Every employee asked where I got the cupcakes and said they were so moist. One coworker said that he is trying not to eat sweets so cut it in half but couldn't help himself and had to eat the other half. I ordered an assorted dozen with a filling and whipped cream topping. Tony and his team came in clutch for me with a cake for my mom's 60th birthday. I was so busy planning other major aspects of a trip that I didn't think a cake was necessary at first. But the more I thought about it, the more I thought a cake would be nice. My mom has never had a custom cake, either. So I ended up contacting Tony later than I ideally should have but he still accommodated my cake request which I very much appreciate. After looking up some designs I got really attached to a red and gold cake design with cherry blossoms and a dragon over the top. The dragon became really important to me, as in Chinese culture it is a symbol of good luck and strength. My mom had just finished her cancer treatment and has so far outlived the doctor's estimate for her condition. So when I say attached, I mean I became REALLY attached to the dragon...I was really frustrated that I didn't put in my order early enough as the dragon mold ALMOST didn't come on time. Luck was on my side though, and Tony and his team got the cake done--with the dragon!--on time. And my mom and family loved the cake! So many compliments and questions about where I got the cake. Tony's online order form was super simple to order off of. The prices are reasonable and transparent. There is a lot you can customize, like the type of filling. If there's ingredients that might not go as well together they will take the time to explain why which I also appreciated. The only thing I was a bit disappointed about was that I ordered red velvet interior with strawberry cream cheese filling and mixed fruit and strawberries. Tony's is such a blessing for Vallejo. I ordered 6 dozen cupcakes for my graduation party and they were SUPERB. Order came out to about $190 which is kinda steep. But this ain't the Safeway bakery. These were moist, soft, fresh nd worth every penny. Initially though I was told that large orders can only consist of vanilla, chocolate, and swirl so I was surprised to also receive red velvet and cream cheese filled cupcakes. Order did come out 20 mins after scheduled pick up time but it was cool cuz i was able to enjoy the tea bar as i waited. Plus, the emerald frosting with gold flakes came out precisely as I envisioned! However, that deep green frosting stains like crazy so some of my guests avoided the cupcakes. Not trippin tho cuz it left more for me anyway! Aside from the cupcakes I've had their tres leches and their chocolate dipped strawberries and I've been impressed each time.
