The beer is great, food is good too! And the beer garden is so fun to play pool with friends. I can even get some writing done in the beer garden on peaceful nights here, and the train passing by provides inspiration. Service is great too, the people here are kind and helpful. read more

Great drinks! Would recommend the frosè, great to cool down on a hot day :) Yes kind staff and very cozy, cool vibes in the decoration yes yes read more

Update: We decided to give this place several more chances after my original review because we genuinely wanted to like it. Unfortunately, every visit has only confirmed our first impression. BAD. Yes, they finally serve beer in actual glassware, which is the bare minimum for a "taproom". That's the only real improvement. The service is still painfully slow and consistently chaotic. The staff often seems completely checked out, distracted, or disorganized. Simple requests aren't followed, communication is poor, and every visit feels like nobody really knows what's going on. The food has gone completely downhill. The menu barely resembles what made this place popular in the first place. We used to come specifically for the hot dogs because they were genuinely decent. Now they don't even serve hot dogs anymore! There's no kids' menu, the menu changes constantly, and it feels like they've completely lost their identity. Martinez is full of families, but we've never fel welcome here. It's not a place we'd recommend bringing kids. Between the lack of family-friendly options, the indifferent service, and the overall atmosphere, it just doesn't feel inviting. (It's a place for drunk adults with bad appetites) They're also no longer open on Mondays, which was one of the biggest reasons we used to stop by. (Their opening schedule is very inconsistent and open and close whenever they please) At this point, it's expensive, inconsistent, and simply not worth it. We gave this place every opportunity to win us back, but each visit has been more disappointing than the last. There are far too many great restaurants and taprooms nearby to keep wasting time and money here. We won't be back!! read more

Ordered a burger. It was very average. Small patty, nothing that great about it. The fries were super salty. Didn't care for the seasoning. Probably wouldn't go back. I can get a $20 burger somewhere else that's going to be way better. Inside had a bunch of flies. Other than that it was clean and the workers were friendly. read more

It is a beautiful day in Martinez, California. I popped into Hillside Tap Room and sat at the bar. It was 11:30 Sunday and maybe 5 customers and three waitstaff. I was never greeted or acknowledged in my brief stay. The three employees walked passed me numerous times like I did not exist. I thought it odd and started to look at my watch. Ten minutes went by with not any interaction. See Yaaaa!!!! There are so many other options nearby. Pathetic. read more

My husband had the Pale Ale IPA and really enjoyed it. He said it was nice and hoppy and definitely recommends getting a tall! I got the Cider Sangria, and it was SO good. It was the perfect amount of sweetness without being too sweet. I honestly wish I could bottle it and take it home! Definitely recommend trying it. My only regret is that I only got a pint :( Definitely coming back for more! read more

I had been here once before and it was okay but the fries were super salty. WELL I decided to give them another try today and it's a Hard No for me. I got chicken wings in the salt and pepper flavor and fries with no salt. The wings had no flavor and were not cooked all the way. I had asked for all flats for just this reason but was told they couldn't do that. I did get two flats that were cooked thru but they totally lacked flavor. The drums were still raw inside and when I let them know I was told that they didn't know why they looked like that but they were cooked to the proper temperature. So they did nothing not even a "oh I'm sorry" just looked at me like I had three heads. Bad Service to say the least. The chicken is in the photo below and you can see it's RAW. I wrote this review while finishing my fries and hoped someone would come over and apologize for the uncooked chicken but nothing I was there for a good 10 to 15 minutes and nothing. So I posted my review. As I was leaving the woman who I guess was one of the owners yelled "did you just leave me a one star review" I told her yes and as I stood in the door she actually argue with me about her Raw food and BAD service. read more

Torn between 3.5 and 4 stars so rounded up. Popped in on a Thurs and it was pretty quiet but service was great. Food was solid as noted below. Bellini cocktail was enjoyed by the wife. Tall pour of Wondrous IPA was delicious, just wish the glass wasn't frozen. Remembered they were in Concord as Hillside Dogs and this is a step up. Clam Chowder.... tasty, not fishy, good consistency Spicy Chicken Sando..... not very spicy, tender chicken, tasty slaw, good bread, decent sandwich. Fries were very tasty! Fisher & Chips... bit bready, mild fishy taste, big meal for a single female, fries were superb. Overall, decent experience. Looks like easy parking - we had parked a few blocks away to visit another spot and walked over. read more

Nice cold craft beer. Got a "tall" which is a 24 oz and the glass was nice and frozen. Had a tasty hazy from Oakland. Tasted fresh but didn't last very long in my glass unfortunately . Visiting from Sacramento and wow, we're right next to the train. Station! So a bit loud but also very cool. read more

P's Way is the only way. That's literally what I'd tell someone if they were confused about what kind of wings to get. You look at the description and you almost wonder if all of that is a little...too much. I'm here to tell you that it's not. It's the only way. There's just something about the zing and tang of combining both the Lemon Pepper with the Buffalo sauce that takes the flavors to a whole new level. On top of that you get a hint of sweetness with the hot honey. These are some of my favorite wings in town. Possibly actual favorite. I need to come back and have them again really soon. But just know that if you are wings fan, you gotta try P's Way. The Fish and Chips and Mac were also good. The Fish seemed a little less flavorful than I thought it was gonna be. The fries made it up for them though. I couldn't stop munching on those. The Mac was solid. Nothing out of the ordinary, but a just really good dish that was straight to the point. I just obviously was super obsessed with these wings when I went. The inside is very homey. Has a more publike vibe. I walk in and almost imagine that I'm on the water or at a pier or something. The people working here are usually very nice. The very last time I came here a guy took my order and forgot one of our items but I think he was new. Luckily this girl with a long blonde ponytail who had served us before asked us if we got everything. When we told her about our missing item she apologized a whole bunch and made everything better. Oh and of course they have amazing beers. Our favorites are the rotation of Dark Beers, Mexican Lagers and Ciders that they have. We have yet to ever have a bad pour. Im pretty sure if you like beer there should be something for everyone. Even Wine slushies if you don't care for beer. Hillside was one of me and my wife's places we would go to when we shortly lived in Martinez. Even though we are a bridge away, we can't wait to come back sometime soon. read more

Wonderful hidden gem, we found the Hillside Tap Room and Eatery by accident, or fate , on a hot October afternoon, wandering the streets down by the Martinez yacht harbor. Good selection of brews on tap, lovely little garden out back where they feature live music, all food items are "made fresh, every order", and the staff are so welcoming! Delightful! read more

I ordered a Chicago Dog (4 Stars) The dog was good size with flavorful. The bun was not a traditional poppy seed bun but rather a soft roll, I'm sure they use the same roll for all the dogs. It holds up to all the ingredients. They put on all the traditional Chicago Dog stuff but use normal sweet relish which is much better than the true Chicago bright green. Overall guys stuff! Until next time.. read more

We stopped in before watching the sturgeon's play at the nearby ball field. Quite welcoming and a very old school vibe. Love the fun antique fishing gear and all of the local beer on tap. We had a couple of drinks... I had a nicely chilled rose wine and Keith had a red beer. Drinks were perfect and Keith loved the red beer. You do have to walk up to the register to order food, so just note you can't order while sitting at the bar. I ordered fried calamari and a fresh rice bowl with grilled shrimp. The calamari was delicious with a light batter and very tender! Came with 2 dips a tartar and spicy marinara. The rice bowl was huge and so amazingly fresh! We will definitely come here again... great service, vibe, drinks, and food! read more

I don't know about this place. From the people who waited on us, to the weird Fish and Chips, I don't believe I will be back. I also didn't understand the "sugary fries", that was a huge "NO" for me. Good location though and places to park. read more

This place looked like a cool little spot to check out in Martinez. Way more expensive than I expected though. Food was okay but not even close to worth the price I paid to eat and drink. Restaurant was clean and welcoming. Service was sub par as the server just didn't attend to us at all. Maybe skip this place if your in the area. read more

Great food very nice and polite employees also a good variety of beer and wines. We will be coming back for sure.

The place has been redone, looks nice inside, just don't look too close; i.e., started off sitting by the windows only to notice lots of little dead bugs in the sill, we moved. You order first, then take a seat. The gal was nice, took our order. There was an order of the Spicy Chicken Sando & a side of Chili Bowl & 2 slushes of the day. Not trying to be mean here, yet the chili tasted canned - meh . The spicy chicken was, I'm lacking the words, messy, a tad ? Okay in short not great - meh That leaves the 2 slushes - if I was at the marina & it was a hot day I'd stop by & get one. In short not my type of place; I'm sure it's someone else's as an acquaintance suggested it & we obviously have very different tastes in foods. read more

Ok so weird cause the credit card machine seems to be down a lot here I guess. Previous comments. You pay through Venmo or cash. I mean if you are a local it's whateves. So it was Pride at the Martinez front, and when we were waking we stopped on by! If you are an adult and want a delicious beverage..... stop here!! The wine slushi is fire. the red wine one is sooooo good. Perfect consistency and just the right of sweetness. You walk in and there are a few tables and plenty of bar seating. What I love is their patio! Martinez, please don't hassle them, it's a mom and pop just trying to make it. The trains pass through so it might be loud, but if your like Sheldon from big bang theory you would love it!! Not only did we come back the same day, we tried a couple of their beers on tap! Also, their beer mugs are so frosty, mmmmmm can't wait to try the food. Dog friendly!!! read more
