P's Way is the only way. That's literally what I'd tell someone if they were confused about what kind of wings to get. You look at the description and you almost wonder if all of that is a little...too much. I'm here to tell you that it's not. It's the only way. There's just something about the zing and tang of combining both the Lemon Pepper with the Buffalo sauce that takes the flavors to a whole new level. On top of that you get a hint of sweetness with the hot honey. These are some of my favorite wings in town. Possibly actual favorite. I need to come back and have them again really soon. But just know that if you are wings fan, you gotta try P's Way. The Fish and Chips and Mac were also good. The Fish seemed a little less flavorful than I thought it was gonna be. The fries made it up for them though. I couldn't stop munching on those. The Mac was solid. Nothing out of the ordinary, but a just really good dish that was straight to the point. I just obviously was super obsessed with these wings when I went. The inside is very homey. Has a more publike vibe. I walk in and almost imagine that I'm on the water or at a pier or something. The people working here are usually very nice. The very last time I came here a guy took my order and forgot one of our items but I think he was new. Luckily this girl with a long blonde ponytail who had served us before asked us if we got everything. When we told her about our missing item she apologized a whole bunch and made everything better. Oh and of course they have amazing beers. Our favorites are the rotation of Dark Beers, Mexican Lagers and Ciders that they have. We have yet to ever have a bad pour. Im pretty sure if you like beer there should be something for everyone. Even Wine slushies if you don't care for beer. Hillside was one of me and my wife's places we would go to when we shortly lived in Martinez. Even though we are a bridge away, we can't wait to come back sometime soon. read more

Torn between 3.5 and 4 stars so rounded up. Popped in on a Thurs and it was pretty quiet but service was great. Food was solid as noted below. Bellini cocktail was enjoyed by the wife. Tall pour of Wondrous IPA was delicious, just wish the glass wasn't frozen. Remembered they were in Concord as Hillside Dogs and this is a step up. Clam Chowder.... tasty, not fishy, good consistency Spicy Chicken Sando..... not very spicy, tender chicken, tasty slaw, good bread, decent sandwich. Fries were very tasty! Fisher & Chips... bit bready, mild fishy taste, big meal for a single female, fries were superb. Overall, decent experience. I ordered a Chicago Dog (4 Stars) The dog was good size with flavorful. The bun was not a traditional poppy seed bun but rather a soft roll, I'm sure they use the same roll for all the dogs. It holds up to all the ingredients. They put on all the traditional Chicago Dog stuff but use normal sweet relish which is much better than the true Chicago bright green. Overall guys stuff! The place has been redone, looks nice inside, just don't look too close; i.e., started off sitting by the windows only to notice lots of little dead bugs in the sill, we moved. The wine slushi is fire. the red wine one is sooooo good. Perfect consistency and just the right of sweetness. You walk in and there are a few tables and plenty of bar seating. Hillside is great. I've been here three times now: once when they first opened and then two times more recently. The menu is way better than when they first opened. It's varied and not just hotdogs at all! The food is good. The beer is on tap and the glasses are chilled! They have a hard root beer on tap that is a big hit with non beer drinkers. The service has been great all three times I've been there, warm and welcoming, and the restaurant is very clean. While some people might say it's overpriced, where isn't? Please tell me, because I went to W.C. the night before and one glass of wine was the price a good bottle!!! Looking for a fun and casual place, Hillside fits the bill! They have a big list of fantastic dogs and sausages on the menu! The refurbished building is an intimate fun place, the friendly staff are super helpful and you will enjoy the fun options on the menu. We had the Bacon, which is a smoked brat with cheese, bacon and onions. The fries have a delicious seasoning with a touch of sweet. Hillside has made some changes to their menu that are definitely worth coming in for!! Rice bowls with shrimp and chicken, mac & cheese, soup, salads, and really great, flavorful sauces!! This place has the best beer in all of Martinez. I noticed the owner only puts beer on tap that is the best of the best. No cheap stuff. A huge selection and if it doesn't taste good it isn't on their tap. Lots of unique beers but all just soooooo good. I have also found that they have a Hard Cider or 2 on tap at all times. It's so nice to have a good variety of beer and hard cider and not a single one disappoints. My wife likes to get Champagne and mimosas and they have wine also. I seriously love their beers they keep on tap. Have I said it enough? Nobody else gets it. Just serve good beer and this places sticks to the code. Lately I have been guzzling down the Irish Red they have. I have been here at least 20+ times since they opened. Never a bad experience. Owners are super cool people and run a tight ship I noticed. Then there is the food. The hot chicken sandwiches are freaking amazing!!!! All the hot dogs and sausages. Then the wings. I am so picky with wings. I am from east coast and wings need to be on point. This place has the bomb wings. Can't get enough of them. Today I tried the fish and chips and it was so good I had to do a review. The breading and the amount of solid huge pieces of fish is crazy. Onion rings on point. And the fries, somehow the oil they cook them in just makes the food so good. You literally eat every single french fry. My wife got the Sparkling Mimosa today and she said it was really good. I don't have a single complaint about this place. The bathrooms are down the hall far enough away from the drinking and eating area. Lots of bench tables and a bar style high stool sitting area wraps the entire place around the windows. Then you have the bar to sit at if you want to have a few drinks and watch the trains. They have tv's for sports games. This place has the best food. Everything on this menu is high quality stuff. My first experience was poor... Unfriendly service and a hotdog that was way overpriced and nothing special. Months later I decide to give you a second chance... Once again, met with the rudest bartender/server. Just wanted a bowl of good old clam chowder but come to find out it doesn't even come with French bread just oyster crackers and you guys wanna charge one dollar an ounce!!! Cute spot. Wanted to really love it. But it's WAAAYYYY overpriced! The hotdogs are pretty basic - nothing extra special aside from the toppings (and sadly the chili was runny and bland). The burger also was unseasoned and although it had a ton of bbq sauce, it just wasn't very tasty. The fries, while seasoned and delicious, came in super small portions for the price. I came here after getting off the Amtrak about a 700 foot walk and their credit card machine was down and for some reason my cards didn't work could be due to travel and spending money on home improvement for rental properties. Anyways I came in with a shoulder bag and a backpack maybe I looked a bit out or order but I payed their prices and the service was cold. I left this place feeling like a problem. Won't be coming back. It's a shame since the food is actually decent. Great selection of hot dogs and sausages. My wife had a chicken sandwich that was cooked perfectly. Beware: the fries are seasoned with sugar. Great, regularly updated selection of beer. Also, don't pass on the frose selection! The owner is often serving at the counter and is always very nice and gives great service. They add this bbg like seasoning that makes them taste a bit sweet but it wasn't my thing. Staff was nice, food filled our bellies, however for the price for two people for lunch was almost 65 dollars (without alcohol or refills of lemonade). We're talking a sandwich, a hot dog and one order of fries, and two lemonades. If the food was somehow better than average I might not mind the heavy price tag, but with what we got... no way I'll be back. Also weirdly, no plates - everything was in To-Go cardboard boxes even though we ate in the restaurant. Fries have tons of sugar on them, the polish dog was 11 bucks and couldn't beat a 2 dollar Costco dog, and if you do decide to eat indoors, the acoustics are terrible and you may lose some of your hearing. All in all, I'd really like to like this place, but it needs to be managed by an adult, prices need to be more reasonable OR the food needs to severely improve. I finally went to Hillside Martinez Tap Room & Eatery in Martinez. It's right by the Amtrak Station as you enter the Martinez Marina. It's a great spot to watch the trains while you enjoy a sausage, hot link, or dog. You can enjoy one (or two) of their 12 rotating beers, a froze, or a slushy. Today, I tried the peach mango slushy made from scratch with real fruit. It was so good! They're super friendly there; the service was excellent. The remodel made my jaw drop; they did a FANTASTIC job! I opted for the Hillside dog. A hot link topped with sweet relish, onions, jalapeños, mustard, celery salt, cheese, and a dill pickle spear. It was a great dog! The combination of the hot link with pickle spear and pickled jalapeños was so good! Their rolls are excellent; they are so soft and tasty. I learned that they get their bread from a family bakery; they prefer to purchase all of their ingredients in small batches to support other small businesses. I wish they had sub sandwiches on those rolls, too; they're so good! When visiting Hillside Martinez Tap Room & Eatery, you can either build your own custom 1/4 lb. sausage dog or select one of their custom creations. I've read some negative remarks about the pricing, but I think when you factor in the premium ingredients they use, plus those other pesky costs like rent, utilities, staff, etc., they're not extreme. The build-your-own option features seven different sausage options, including hot links, bratwurst, polska kielbasa, Italian, pineapple, cajun or beef frank. Then you pick from 24 different regular topping options included in the sausage's price. The most expensive sausage was $11. The premium toppings like chili, bacon, slaw, grilled onions and peppers, melted cheese, and guacamole are $1-2 each. The specialty dogs range in price from $12-$15.50, including those premium toppings. Heck, the most expensive dog is the Pastrami Dog at $15.50, and it has a 1/4 lb. beef frank, pastrami, grilled onions, and melted cheese; this might be my next dog. When I was leaving I started chatting with the young lady who initially took my order. Turns out it was Casey, the owner. She introduced me to Preston, her partner, the chef, and the guy who did the amazing remodel! She told me they love to work with local businesses; she creates the signage for the rotating taps, and GLT Signs across the street print them, which they source from other small businesses. They use fresh ingredients; she makes all the syrups and ingredients for the slushes and froze. She also said they're looking forward to getting the outdoor space opened for outdoor dining and live music. I wish I could leave more stars. But the rude attitude from the female (owner? Staff member?) was just NOT IT. We came for the first time, and were not welcomed at all, just blank stares and after reading the review about the mom with the stroller, we had a similar experience! We were told to "get our stroller out of the way" sorry, I can't put my 3 month old baby anywhere "out of the way" considering how tiny the place is. Hot dogs were WAY too expensive for what you get, $15-$17 for a small dog that could be eaten in maybe 2-3 bites. (Truly Costco ones are better) I literally give one extra star simply for the beer selection! They have nice craft options, but the "glassware" they are served in is horrendous.
