    Portuguese omelette
    Jerry M.

Working in Concord for a couple of weeks, and while doing my Sunday day off laundry chore nearby, I searched for a breakfast spot close to me. I decided to give this neighborhood cafe a try and so happy that I did. The place has a very welcoming atmosphere. Little bit of a nostalgic vibe with a touch of modern. I loved that there was the old diner counter to sit at and watch the cook do his magic. There are several tables as well inside and some tables outside to enjoy a meal under the sky. If you view the menu, you'll see they offer quite an array of choices. My choice today was the Portuguese omelette with toast and hashbrowns. I complemented the cook on how easy he made it look to cook on a griddle and how well he managed to prepare the dishes. If you've ever tried to do an omelette on a flat griddle, you'll understand my point. The food was amazing. Well made and with such great flavor. I'm really hoping to be here next weekend to give this place another visit before I depart for home. The omelette was three eggs and plenty of filling. You'll be pleasantly full or asking for a box to go. The hashbrowns were perfect also. The lady my order and making sure I didn't need anything was super friendly and had a great personality. A trifecta for a five star visit to an out of town visitor. Kudos to the Bay Leaf Cafe for making my morning a wonderful one.

Here's the Counter area... Everything is very very clean here for a small cafe!

Came across this neighborhood cafe for breakfast. The prices are very reasonable for the good qty. Much better than Nations but similar prices. The service was quick. The food was really great! I would definitely recommend this quaint neighborhood cafe!

Greek Salad with Grilled chicken (addition)

We have visited Bay Leaf Cafe a few years ago and wasn't impressed, but decided to try again. We were delighted by the quality of food. I ordered a Shrimp and Avocado Salad . The Thousand Island Dressing was served on the side in a small container. It was enough dressing. The amount of shrimp was great! They were not skimpy. The avocado slices were just the right amount. Overall, this was a delicious salad. Greek Salad. The person who ordered this thought the flavor was nice, but wished they used Kalamata olives instead of black olives. Her comment was , "it would make this more a Greek Salad in flavor." The chicken was added and actually made the salad more substantial. The amount of dressing was overwhelming. She would have like the dressing on the side so she could add it herself. Overall, she enjoyed the salad, but probably would not order it again. Belgium Waffle with two eggs and two bacon. The person who ordered this said it was a very decent combination and he would definitely order it again. Overall we will be back to try more of the items on the Bay Leaf menu.

This place was recommended to me by a friend with their weekly specials. We were coming from an appointment and decided to stop by. I got the pancake special while the boyfriend got the 2 egg special. The plates/portions were small, but the prices were under $15. I also got a hot chocolate which was a nice addition to my meal. It's a great place if you want something on a budget. Our whole meal was under $30! The pancake special was filling, but the 2 egg dish didn't seem to be. It's a great option to have in your back pocket.

My husband and I shared the biscuit sandwich for breakfast along with the Belgian strawberry waffle. Everything tasted fresh and was very reasonably priced. The food wasn't greasy or overly salty at all, which we really appreciated. Simple, satisfying, and well done.

First, I would like to say that the service here is amazing! They are so friendly. We ordered from the breakfast menu. The omelettes are delicious. The waffles are so big and fluffy. Definitely stop by and give it a try last but not least we had the mocha's so good.. you gotta stop by and give him a try.

Average breakfast spot that has outdoor and indoor seating. Inside is very cute. Met with a friend on a Saturday afternoon and we were seated right away. Ordered a vegetarian sandwich since it sounded very fresh with a side of fries. Overall the sandwich was ok, no real flavor which was a shame considering all of the fresh ingredients. The fries were probably the best part. Overall the size of the meal was very good for the price, but the lack of flavor will not bring me back again.

The BEST chicken fried steak I've EVER had... Not exaggerating!!! Woofed this entire plate in about 3 minutes, 49 seconds flat! Yummmm!!!

(based on one visit) Nice service, clean interior, rich coffee, clean bathroom... Fair prices. Oh, and the food, the food, specifically the chicken fried steak, was AWESOME! Steak breading was actually crispy underneath the gravy (Not at all soggy like everywhere else), the gravy itself was very flavorful, the eggs were standard as were the hasbrowns.... Together, it was exactly what the doctor ordered! Thank you!!!

I haven't been here in years and wanted to try it yesterday. I love how cute the outdoor seating area is and how modern and cozy the inside is! I'm so happy to see that neighborhood gem is still around. We ordered the triple cheese omelette and the linguisa omelette. They were both so good. The staff was so friendly and accommodating too! We will definitely be back.

    Biscuits and gravy weekday special
    Angela W.

This cafe is the exact thing that I was looking for this morning. I wanted to be surrounded by flowers, with a yummy breakfast, and a hot chocolate in hand. The $8.99 weekday specials are a steal! It's a good amount of food for a great price! I ordered the biscuits and gravy with home style potatoes. It was delicious! Next I'll definitely try the pancakes and one of the omelettes! The omelette list was extensive!! I was greeted and seated immediately and I ordered based on the waitress's recommendation. She did not disappoint! I'm not sure what the inside of the place looks like, but I loved the outdoor seating! Beautiful flowers, sunlight, and great food are the perfect combination!

I would like to know if the owners would consider switching over to creamer served in small metal pitchers instead of the plastic containers of half & half? Owners would save $$ and it's less wasteful.

Service was fine despite them being so busy, we got our drinks and order in a timely manner and when we asked for boxes and the check they were quick to respond. Food is your classic American fare. I've been to other Yard House locations too and I think the food quality is consistent. The ahi crunchy salad and chicken nachos were both good. Kids enjoyed their fries. One of the kids complained about the steak being way too salty. My kid really liked her grilled cheese sandwich. I like beers on tap so I got their House Beer Flight to pair with my meal. I really liked the honey blonde ale, hint of honey on a light ale. I also liked the Belgian white, that was my second favorite out of the house beer flight. The lighting is a bit dark, made it hard to read the menu. There was World Cup soccer games playing on every screen. Lots of people hanging out there to watch the game. Looks fun if you're into watching game in restaurants.

It's popular and deservedly so. We visited the Walnut Creek location for a Saturday brunch at 10:15 AM. When we arrived, it was already packed with people waiting outside. You can book a reservation for this location with Yelp. The staff is fairly strict about an entire party being present before they can be seated. Our family brought a party of eight. Here's what I got to try on my side of the table: DRINKS Barista's Favorites * Oat Uji Organic Matcha ($9) - 1st harvest matcha grade, oat milk Mimosas & Spicy Friends * Millionaire's Mary ($16) - vodka, spicy housemade Bloody Mary mix, tajin rim, Millionaire's Bacon FOOD Small Bites * Earl Grey Blueberry Croffle ($16) - croissant waffle, burrata, blueberry marinated in Earl Grey and basil EVOO, housemade blueberry marmalade * Korean Fried Chicken ($16) - boneless crispy fried chicken chunks, hot and sweet gochujang sauce served on the side Millionaire's Bacon * Millionaire's Bacon ($15) - original; thick, free-range bacon, baked with brown sugar, cayenne, red and black pepper Benedict & Friends * Blackstone ($26) - poached eggs on ciabatta, served with potato medley; Millionaire's Bacon, asparagus, cherry tomato, Meyer lemon hollandaise, chive Kitchen Specials * Tornado Galbi Omurice ($26) - twisted scrambled egg over fried rice and vegetables, braised short rib, demi-glace scallion, pickled onion, chive, cherry pepper Maple Plates * Marnier French Toast ($18) - extra fluffy thick milk bread, bruleed on top, Grand Marnier cream batter; served with Maldon salt, pure maple syrup * Coconut Moffle with Brie ($21) - coconut mochi waffle, brie, housemade raspberry marmalade, raspberry, truffle honey dressing Everything was outstanding and high-quality all around. The ingredients were fresh and everything was plated and/or presented beautifully. This place is a well-oiled machine. If you've never had Sweet Maple's award-winning Millionaire's Bacon before, it's a must-try. And if you like Bloody Marys like me, their Millionaire's Mary is worth getting too. Just note it is legit spicy (and thick). Among the items listed above, my favorites were the Earl Grey Blueberry Croffle, the Korean Fried Chicken (they do it well), and the Coconut Moffle with Brie. However, your mileage may vary, so don't let that stop you from trying the other dishes (because I also loved the Blackstone Eggs Benedict and the Omurice). They just know how to make good food. Service was fantastic. Everyone was friendly and attentive, including the hostess, manager, and servers. I'd describe the atmosphere as "California contemporary." The restaurant space is nice with both indoor and outdoor seating. As far as parking, we did metered parking on the street in front of nearby Caffe La Scala (N Main St).

We got there right when opening and the inside was already full ( people made reservations for Mother's Day but they had outdoor seating which is covered from the sun and has heaters ) They had a special menu for Mother's Day today so a lot of what you might see on the regular menu may have not been on today's menu . Our waiter let alone the rest of the staff were very nice and polite and kept wishing happy Mother's Day to everyone . It was very nice . Now food ! Ofcourse you know I got oysters . They had 5 different kinds to choose from but I got the dozen with all of them ! All fresh ! Some were more sweet some more Briney some more creamy . All of them were good and the shallot vinaigrette was the cherry on top ! He got the tortilla soup and we shared the cheesy crabby bread . He dipped it in the soup ( boys lol ) and sad it was good . My personal opinion I love the bread they used ! And nice flavor with out taking away from the nice amount of crab they put on it ! The steak Cobb salad was a very nice portion and the steak was cooked medium rare just how I like it . I was expecting it to be cut up pieces but no they gave you a whole filet which is nice if you want something light and filling I'd definitely recommend this salad . The clams were amazing ! The sauce was so savory just added a dash of lemon and I was in heaven . Plus the cheesy toasted bread they give you to slurp all that excellence lol top tier . Crab omelette was made with egg whites only no yolk , and had ample amount of LUMP crab meat no skimpy at all ! Potatoes were seasoned nice . And the waffles ( which comes by itself heads up that's why we ordered sausage and bacon as a side 8$ each kinda pricey. But we're very thick and good ) the waffles comes with a berry butter spread fresh fruit . Fluffy but still crisp. The limoncello mimosa flavor wise loved the limon but lacked the mosa part . Overall I'd highly recommend and want to come back to try more options . It was nice seeing all the happy families and the cutesy babies all around . Today was a beautiful day thankyou Wences !
