It does feel weird to review a starbucks since they are pretty ubiquitous. But this one was pretty nice. I wasn't familiar with downtown Martinez but this is right in the downtown. The server, I think his name was Michael, was super friendly and greeted us when we came in. I got the new dubai mocha and it was good. Service was fast. I came in early this morning on May 22 and ordered two drinks. I thought one of them was different than what I had actually ordered, so I simply asked where the other drink was. Once the correct drink was located, instead of a normal clarification, I was corrected with a snide attitude and visible annoyance from the staff behind the counter. I work in healthcare. I deal with stressed, confused, sick, frightened, and sometimes outright rude people every day. Clarifying questions are part of interacting with human beings. A customer politely asking about an order should not be treated like an inconvenience. What struck me most was the atmosphere of hostility and intolerance over something incredibly minor. I even noticed another customer apologizing repeatedly just for asking questions about her own order. That says a lot about the environment. Everyone makes mistakes -- customers and employees alike. Starbucks orders get mixed up sometimes everywhere. That's normal. What shouldn't be normal is visible contempt, eye-rolling, dirty looks, or making customers feel like they're burdens for speaking up politely. Some of these employees would benefit from remembering that basic customer interaction requires patience, emotional regulation, and professionalism. If a simple clarification question first thing in the morning creates that much resentment, something is off culturally at this location. People are exhausted enough already. A little basic decency goes a long way. On another day with other staff, this place can get 5 stars. I just felt something had to be said it was a little over the top. read more

But honestly, wouldn't want to come back to this starbucks at all. Poor hospitality, poor customer service. And also terrible manners. Don't come in to get coffee and to get rude behavior with. I was visiting my daughter and walked down t this starbucks only to find two servers who were very unfriendly, had an indifferent attitude, horrible communication and otherwise were rude to me. Apparently they have not been taught customer service or just don't care. Over the years I have been there and it has been better but now, I would never go back.....there are a number of different options in town with a better atmosphere and service. read more

We visited this Starbucks location in October 2023. It was quite spacious inside. We ordered and sat for about 30 minutes. It took a bit to receive our drinks but that was because there were others waiting as well. I ordered an iced black tea and my wife ordered an iced green tea. Both drinks were made well and tasted great. The feel of this location is relaxing and one could easily meet or get work done in this location, The restrooms seemed a bit busy and one of them was closed off for use. The customer service here is completely lacking. I was completely disregarded for well over 2 minutes as the girls stood next to the espresso machine chatting amongst each other. When the girl on register finally wanted to acknowledge my existence she was rude about what register she was actually on. Perhaps if she was acknowledging customers when they walked in and were ready to order there wouldn't be confusion as to which register. Previously working for this corporation this is not the expected standard. Not sure how their store manager or even district manager has tolerated this behavior but I'd rather grab coffee at a local shop than waste my time here. Great location, they always get my orders on point! If I can't decide on what I want they are very helpful on giving me ideas. The baristas are very knowledgeable and your coffee comes out pretty quick. One of my favorite coffees is a wet cappuccino and they make it perfect. read more

I've been here maybe 6-8 times since moving here a year ago and the service is usually ok. Prime location downtown on Main St in the plaza area and near Amtrak. The setup/layout of the inside of the place could probably be better.. maybe move pickup to the other side and have someone who can man it because they get really busy during events, like the Farmer's Market on Sundays, and things can get pretty hectic, pile up, and sit a while. Could probably use an extra person during those times. Prices have also gone up a lot over the past year, but that's everywhere right now. Once a month is ok, I prefer supporting small businesses over chains. read more

As I used to work nearby, I've been through Downtown Martinez (and its various storefront incarnations) more times that I can count over 30 years. I particularly miss the old DiMaggio's Cafe that was once across the street from where this Starbucks stands. This Starbucks is also next to a little "park" that features Alhambra Creek and a lot of flexibility to sit outside this Cafe or to otherwise hang out. There both street and street people traffic (and maybe something in-between), which makes the personal experience here half the "fun". Gayle and I stopped in last Friday to kill some time before heading off to Benicia to visit one of her friends. That meant giving Gayle time to finish that friend's book and for me to hang out with coffee, a sweet, while wondering how I finally came here after all this time. Maybe it was the cake shop and then the bakery down the block, or that coffee was never on the menu when I was wandering around Downtown. In any event, this place is what you expect from a Starbucks, no more or no less. And that's just OK, whether it be the inside, service, or the coffee. read more

my wife uses a walking aid to walk due to knee operation, she asked to use the bathroom before we order. We were very rudely told we have to order first. I tried to explain that it was an emergency, we came to get coffees etc anyway and we have friends who were going to join us. I asked to talk to the manager, Manager Courtney was even ruder. I have been a Starbucks customer from their start at Pike's market in Seattle to 100s of them around the world including this one previously. i have never experienced so inhumane, rude behaviour in any Starbucks before. Fortunately, we discovered Barrelista Coffee House a block away. what a difference, they let my wife use the restroom no problem. we and friends enjoyed not only great hospitality, but great coffees expertly produced, with delicious cookies, so delicious that we ordered extra to take home with us. My advice, along with other one star reviewers is to stay away from this Starbucks. If Starbucks allows such franchisees, they will loose loyal customers like us. read more

Stopped in to have a re-make... which a supervisor had told me to do. Asked for the manager on duty (as I was instructed to do)... ended up speaking with Nick, who said he was the Supervisor. I explained the situation and started to show him my phone which contained the mobile order information in the Starbucks App. He was clearly disinterested in helping... he was entirely dismissive of me and the situation I was describing, and further DID NOT even acknowledge the mobile order information that I was trying to show him on my phone. He stated that they could not re-make the item (egg bites that I never got) despite my being assured that they would remedy the error. Nick went further to say that he didn't believe what I was saying because I hadn't provided him with any evidence! Omg, seriously? I explained to him that I TRIED to show him the order on my phone, but that he wasn't interested. Even at that point, he STILL didn't allow me to show him the order details in the App. I told him this whole encounter wasn't even worth the $4 that I paid for the egg bites!! Sadly, we had already paid for a beverage while I was chatting with him. (The image is him accepting payment for the beverage) When I asked for info on how to contact the manager to let her know that apparently, I had been given incorrect instructions, Nick & another employee pointed to a business card and literally started laughing as I walked away, haha. What a strong illustration of the complete lack of concern for possible consequences from upper management. Makes sense given the rude apathetic attitudes in there. Leadership starts at the top. So basically I wasted my time walking all the way over here just to be misjudged, humiliated, & accused of lying to get a $4 item??!! As we were paying for a pricey beverage. I honestly wonder what was it about me that caused him to IMMEDIATELY ASSUME that I didn't have evidence or had fabricated the error? I could have shown him the mobile App purchase; my call history showing that I had, in fact, spoken to the manager; and even my Google maps (if he needed MORE) history showing where I was at the time the order was placed. how ridiculous that I even felt the need to think that hard about any of this. read more

A small downtown and there is a Starbucks? What would family own business have to say about that? I stop by the location a few years ago and was OK service. You come in, order a drink, get it, and leave. I have not experience any bad service here. This doesn't get plenty of people to order drinks from them. I am not sure it is a threat to other businesses in the area. No complaints about this Starbucks. At least people that come from Amtrak or have jury duty are not going to be worried about finding a place to get coffee. read more

Don't order online to save time even giving them an extra 15 minutes repetitively they can't complete a drink on time for a mobile order. They do not fill your cup and short your drinks. I'll leave out complaints from all the drinks they failed to make properly. This is all the time; not on occasion. That's why I have finally left a review. read more

Wow, I have yet to have a good experience in this Starbucks! Today, I had a. super bossy barista! First, she proceeded to tell me that because I had a mobile order I should've just come up to the counter and picked it up! Since it's COVID-19 protocol, and there were two people standing at the counter, I was doing my best to social distance and not be that person, that thinks they're more important than everyone else! Secondly, when I questioned the amount of sweetener in my drink she snapped back at me instead of reassuring me in an empathetic way. Great place! Nice People! Enjoyed my visit in Martinez this week when I met a really nice man who told me not only was I pretty but made his coffee even better! He said he made YouTube videos and came here often as he loved the place as well. After a great visit at Starbucks we both departed but made arrangements to return on Friday. Best part of this location is the Super friendly staff. When I am having a bad day I come in here for a coffee or a drink and honestly whoever is working here is always so super kind. And I feel like it's not the BS kindness that we have to put on being in customer service. The staff also knows the regulars and the drinks they get and honestly hats off to everyone who works here. They are also super helpful with recommendations for foods to eat or to drink as well as things to add or subtract to the drinks to health it make it healthier. read more

I did a mobile order during the farmers market. Sign on the door said no seating. No issues! We just wanted to grab and go. However, I had to use the restroom. Chairs were stacked in front of some of the doors, so I asked. They said they were closed, but I could use the public restrooms a few blocks down. I was frustrated, but understood that maybe they were broken. While I was waiting another customer asked and they let them in! I asked again and they said I had to go to the restaurant next door! I grabbed my drinks and left. When I took a sip of my drink, it was completely wrong! Tasted like the coffee was burned. Will never return to this Starbucks. Avoid if possible! read more

This is the first Starbuck's I went to that did not have a menu for their hot/warm drinks which I found strange. When asked she spouted out a couple of hot drinks ( and couldn't think of others)and couldn't tell me the specials of the month except the Frappuccinos. Weird ...like how am I supposed to order if I don't know the type of hot drinks available?! Would suggest they had one board with two drinks listed in chalk, maybe they can replace that one with a menu board for hot drinks. They did have menu boards for the cold drinks. Granted the weather here is better but it was a chilly morning. The food on display looked unappetizing. Idk if it was like plastic food on display or the real thing but the breakfast sandwiches looked gross-lol! Also did not see the panini sandwiches as the other Starbucks have? This was in Martinez, but they had all the SF mugs and cups-must be a tourist destination stop off from the nearby trains or something. Do you know how you can get a five star review if you're a Starbucks? Give me a free cup of coffee. I went down town to go to the bank and get a medium coffee. Yes I said medium. I refuse to talk Starbucks talk. I was second in line and I noticed the cashier kind of talking with the guy in front of me. I didn't hear what he was saying but it was like he was trying to explain something to him. When I finally got up there and ordered the cashier says,"We are out of regular coffee right now its going to take 5 minutes for it to be ready so if you want to wait the coffee is on us." You bet your bippy I'm waiting 5 minutes for a free cup of coffee. That must have been what he was talking to the guy ahead of me about. I waited and got my free cup of coffee. Thanks guys! My only complaint about this place is the creepy almost homeless looking people hanging out outside. As I as walking up I heard a woman explaining how she, "really wasn't being that disorderly" when "they"arrested her. That's nice. What a fun Christmas story to share. Awwww man!!! I LOVE this Starbucks. They're quick and so so nice! Especially Tracy AND Edith - I absolutely love running into them. It's a hard job- everyone starts @ 3am and dealing with ppl all day with a smile and great energy is a hard thing to do. Will def send a loving message about them to Corp. Tracy Runs a superb establishment. I rarely run into any issues ever here. They're consistent and they don't overlook you. Every time I've been here they've assisted me accordingly. By that I mean- they don't serve the ppl behind me first with their order, keeping me waiting. But even if it ever happened I'd be pretty easy about it bc we all have off days. My order is the same every day- triple espresso over ice 2 pumps of white mocha and whipped cream for my fiancé and whatever I'm feeling that day plus some breakfast sandwiches. Whatever this baby inside me demands lol I love tipping to start their day off with good luck when I have cash on me. Or i save my cash for them especially. read more
