I frequent Starbucks as I get a fair few gift cards, and I have to say that this is my favourite location. Not only is it my closest coffee shop, it's got a special place in my heart. My first visit I ended up staying from 10am until close to get my work done as the power had gone out at my house. The staff were so friendly and attentive, and they even gave me a free drink as I'd been there so long. Now when I go in, I've been amazed that my name has been remembered. It's such a nice feeling! Today was actually better because one of the original girl that have there for long time. I ask her if she could make my drink for me and she said yes with no problem and I thank her for that. This starbucks is never consistent with my drink. I order from here at least 4 days a week and my cup is never filled to the top. I always get cut short of my drink for the price they should make sure it's full when you make a mobile order. The counter where you get the sugar is never clean and to many homeless people just sitting around and not buying anything. I love starbucks but this is pushing me to go somewhere else in the area. I rarely venture into MTown Proper, but on the odd Saturday or Sunday morning will find myself here with Jack and the wee ones. Cinzia + Reno see the logo and start chanting "hot coco" immediately. I went here with my boyfriend on a Sunday afternoon. It was quiet, chill, and hot as hell. Why give it 2 stars? I ordered a SOY latte (it costs extra for soy) and I was watching the guy over the counter make it. I saw him make it with regular milk . I told him (nicely) twice that I asked for soy. He got mad , cursed, and made it again. Sorry to be so upfront, but I am lactose intolerant, so even a drop of milk in me will screw up my whole day. Starbucks management: Please train all staff to be courteous. I am not from the area and this was my first time coming in and certainly my last time. There are good and bad things about this particular Starbucks. To wit: GOOD - It's a rather pretty location, and the staff in there are always really really nice. The store and its restroom are tidy and well stocked, drinks are tasty, no complaints there at all! BAD - They have a great location in the heart of downtown Martinez, and there are a lot of other locally owned coffee shops that they no doubt take a lot of business from. I don't cast judgment as I'm guilty of choosing them over the local guys myself for some reason, almost like a kneejerk reaction to go in there instead of hunting down a simpler option. This has to be the most filthy Starbucks I have ever visited. I've been here many times in the past, but somewhere along the line they removed the 3 comfortable chairs they had for sitting and talking and replaced it with a small wooden table and a couple of chairs. This is no longer a comfortable place to sit down-and spend some time having coffee. I sat in a coffee shop for nearly an hour, and the tables were never wiped down even one time. There were spilled coffee on 2 of them trash left out on all of them and the sugar and cream counter where everybody goes was just filthy. I come here almost every day; the people and service are great. I've had bad experiences in a Starbucks, but never this one. The staff know they are often the first people you encounter in the outside world on a given workday morning and greet everyone with a great attitude even though their day started waaay earlier than yours. I know people will get on Yelp and complain about the homeless...but if you're on Yelp complaining about people who have nowhere to live and nothing to eat trying to stay warm, maybe some self analysis is in order. Starbucks treats homeless people like people, and a consequence of that is you might have to tolerate them sitting nearby while you get your pumpkin spice latte (which you will probably complain about too). Martinez has a fair amount of homeless, so unless you want Starbucks to toss out everyone who looks unkempt or you have a plan for housing and feeding them, they have the same rights and are part of the package deal. read more

This place is in a nice location in downtown Martinez. I happened to be in downtown for business and was in the mood for a hot cup of joe and this hit the spot. I ordered the seasonal Pumpkin Latte and it was good. The lobby was clean and you had wifi but it was a bit slow. I did have to walk to the location but that was ok, but be aware if you are trying to find parking in downtown Martinez during business hours. read more

I really love how the manager, Lachelle, is always so happy and joyful even when she seems to be under stress. You can tell that her energy radiates on to her employees. The only reason I am not putting a 1 star is because the girl katelynn behind the bar was busting her butt and she was so focused on all the orders while the redhead next to her moseyed her way about. I had a mobile order and got 2 of my drinks and food yet they were supposedly working on my last drink. I watch 6 orders be made by again this girl busting her butt only to finally ask where my drink was and nothing. I'm sitting there staring at you for 10 min waiting for my drink the redheads response was "oh I'm sorry I thought you left" like wait are you serious I'm literally waiting and you see me staring at you but you thought I left! I did not hear my name being called because it wasn't called. I know because I was standing right there and listening for it. She clearly needs some confidence in the customer service department because if I saw one of my customers waiting with a clearly annoyed face and just looked back down, I would not be employed. Never would I ever just look at a customer and put my head down. Ask if I need anything, ask what I'm waiting for so you can give me some info. You are at work not me and I shouldn't have to ask you where my drink is that is now not hot because it sat there for 10 min. So disappointing. read more

Staff is amazing, location is great, and the drinks are served how you order them! I guess you would consider me a regular, as coworkers and I are there every weekday. We walk in, and if they're not slammed, they have our drinks started and sometimes ready by the time we get to the counter. When they're slammed, they're still fast! We never wait more than a few minutes, even when there are a bunch of people there. I'm very thankful for the crew this Starbucks has built. They're really great people, who always have a smile, funny comment, or silly dance move to make our day better! Thank you for making our morning coffee run a pleasure!!! I have to give this Starbucks some major cred for being here. I was driving to Sacramento and I thought I could hold off on a bathroom break before I get there...but the call of nature was super strong. Thus, I made the detour exit right before the Toll Plaza and headed down what seemed like forever to downtown Martinez. The drive seemed to take forever...at least from my bladder standpoint...but once I found a spot and ran into this Starbucks to use their bathroom(I bought a drink! I'm not going to dash in and out!), I got to take a look at this locale. I've never been through Martinez but this location in downtown is nice. I overheard conversations of local customers interacting with the baristas, a few of them being local neighbor business owners. It certainly had a unique small town vibe. This probably was the only Starbucks in the area because the line was LONG. Only one girl was handling all the drink prep and I felt really bad for her...she even had to redo a couple of drinks because a few people didn't like how it turned out! There were three other guys there who were doing the register and grinding coffee and none of really helped her out. She eventually got it all done but she looked really stressed. Thanks to my bladder, I got to walk around and visit downtown Martinez that includes this Starbucks. Hopefully next time I come back here, it won't be in an emergency type situation. read more

Actual Starbucks is nice and the coffee is what it is. Service was not very cordial. The barista didn't confirm my order and gave me the wrong order. When I told him that my order was incorrect, he said he could print me a receipt. There isn't a reason for me to see the receipt because you took my order incorrectly. If you show me the incorrect receipt it doesn't prove anything. read more

I was at Starbucks today at the martinez location and ordered my drink and the I had to wait 15 min and I had a 10:00 appointment so I told them where is my coffee and sandwich i requested I had to wait each of my item for 10 min each and I told them I have to leave now I had an appointment and the lady who makes the drinks for other people that I was ahead of them and all mobil orders than mine!!! she didn't even apology to me but the casher guy did..so I miss my appointment and including sudden heavy traffic unexpected.. so I hope better service next time instead taking to long or sweet little time when customers are trying to beat the clock read more

A pretty good place, compared to other Starbucks I've visited. Most of the staff knows me as a regular and my usual beverage so that's always a plus. They work really hard and are always friendly, considering the staffing issues. Management really should schedule a second barista for the busy morning shift. Waiting 15 minutes for a drink is a bit much and not the fault of the staff. Otherwise no complaints. read more

Staff is always really nice but it's a bit unsettling knowing there's vagrants parked next to the door and sitting outside talking to them selves. As they watch you getting in and out of your car. My favorite Starbucks in Martinez! It's always busy but the service is quick..love the atmosphere there, much better than the one in Nob Hill. The only negative is you have to pay for parking. I have been going here EVERYDAY at least twice a day for 5 years and I love the staff and atmosphere. Everyone is wonderful but ANDREA is exceptional! She is the epitomy of excellent customer service! I live in Castro Valley but i work in Martinez and as long as I am working I will continue to visit this Starbucks at least twice a day at a minimum! Try it, you'll love it! This I can guarantee! I don't normally endorse anything or anyone unless I am ABSOLUTELY sure that I won't look bad...guess what...this staff can ONLY make me look good! This store places their sign blocking the sidewalk on a regular basis. Today I walked in and spoke to a supervisor. I told her I was going to move their sign. she said no she will do it. I went by 3 hours later and the sign was even more in the way of the sidewalk. Talk about inconsiderate~!!!!!!! read more
