What a disappointment. Been twice and wanted a tall Christmas blend. Both times was told that was only available in afternoon as a pour over and that means a wait. Conveniently located, this Starbucks is close to my work. This is a big one with a parking lot.(Though very few spots). Staff is very friendly and quick in service here(compared to the 1 on Congress and 10th st) and I like this location as I can really go and relax taking break from the work. What? Another Starbucks review? Well, all right, if you insist. This Starbucks is closer than the coffee machine at work. Of course, you have your standardized Starbucks fare you experience most places. However, there are a few things abou this particular Starbucks which stand out. First of all, the best thing abou this Starbucks is the largeness of the "dining" (or is it "drinking?") space. You know how you go into other Starbuckses and they're shaped funny- like chairs crammed in a glorified hallway? Not so with this Starbucks. It is a nice big room filled with a variety of tables, chairs, and even comfier chairs which makes this place a break room away from the break room in my office. The atmosphere is nice and casual and you'll find everyone from students studying for finals to lawyers and realtors discussing business. Sometimes you'll find people like me in there who just want to go to a place outside of the office on their lunch break. One weird twighlight zone drawback to this place is that during busy periods (mostly morning)- your drink will get out quicker than during a slower afternoon period. I don't know if that's a personel thing or what. So overall, if you're looking for a Starbucks- this one isn't too bad. It is clean, the people are friendly, and it isn't cramped at all. read more

This location is my go-to since it's a couple blocks from my work. Staff is ALWAYS friendly. I've been going here for at least a year now, I'm not sure why I haven't given a 5 star before now! In all this time, they have messed up my order *once* and kindly apologized and happily replaced my drink! This is my favorite location by far solely based on the staff. If I could change one thing, I would say they need more parking spaces - BUT, that is truly out of their control and I can't blame them for that. Yes, it's true: Bad Yelp reviews are inherently a litany of First World problems. Karens and near-Karens describing why their world isn't always absolutely perfect. But hey, we live in the First World, and if you can expect anything to be the same from place to place, it damn well better be a Pumpkin Spice Latte from Starbucks, especially after they send you 8 emails announcing its seasonal return. Which, dear near-Karen readers, is why we come to this review. Somehow, inexplicably, this Starbucks cannot seem to make some of their drinks the same way every other Starbucks on the planet does (even the ones in Target). I've come here countless times for grab and go, and more often than not lately, I get halfway to my destination when I discover - "this tastes like mildly warmed milk poured into a cup that previously had coffee in it". No pumpkin, no spice, and not much of everything nice either. And this isn't just wailing at the Church of PSLs: they do this to lots of their other "specialty'" drinks. So yeah, I mean it's a Starbucks. And I'm sure if you stomp your feet they'll make it right for you. But the whole point of Starbucks, or any franchise, should be consistency. Ok, I've sold out, lets get that on the table. But SB is the ONLY coffee shop world wide that is the same everywhere. Such a solice when needing some coffee AND a taste of something like 'home'. This location's only draw backs: parking. IT REALLY doesn't work here. You are in threat of being towed from every direction. I wish I could say nice things about this location. I really, really wish that I could, because it's close to my job, and unlike some other downtown Starbucks locations, it's not cramped. Even thought it gets pretty busy, you can swing your arm, or more sensically, pull out a chair without bumping into someone. It would be perfect if it weren't for the crappy service and frequent mistakes. The space and the convenience this location offers are where the nice things about it end. I've visited three or four times, and it seems that each time I've been there, I was mistreated by rude baristas who cannot get an order right for anything. If someone held them up and their only demand was that a drink be made correctly and presented with a smile, these baristas would be screwed. Every time I've come here, I've had the misfortune of drawing someone with a serious attitude problem. I'm aware that life in the service industry tends to suck, and that entitled people paying way too much for coffee with stupid names can be an absolute drag, but being nice and professional toward everyone keeps everything spinning. My most recent visit, which came over a year after my previous one, just reaffirmed my contempt for this location. Knowing that I hate the kind of treatment that I get, I placed and paid for an order through the Starbucks app. The plan was to go in, pick up my order, and dip. Nice and simple. Except that it wasn't. While both drinks were ready and waiting for me, only one had been made correctly. The one that wasn't was laughably underprepared, and when I questioned the barista about it, she immediately became defensive and obnoxiously explained that my customization was somehow my fault. I literally just added lime slices to a Starbucks Refresher, which hasn't been an issue for any other location. The barista who had actually made it walked over, and I very politely told him that it wasn't what I was expecting. I chose my words carefully, but that still put him on the defensive. Never once did he apologize. He launched into a rather obnoxious and pathetic defense, instead of just holding his tongue and offering it to remake it. After some back and forth over what should actually be done, I told him that I no longer wanted it, and would instead order something else. He continued to mangle the drink that I didn't want as I tried to pick something else, and then put it in front of me. I told him that I didn't want it, to which he said that he knew but he wanted to finish it, anyway. I asked for a refund and just left. I won't ever visit this Starbucks again, unless I'm in an excellent mood and need awful people to bring me down and ruin it. read more

I can walk from my office to here and back in about 20 minutes, so I get a venti drip coffee here at least once a week. Although this coffee shop can get quite busy, I've never had to wait too long, and the staff seems very efficient. Another nod to the staff for keeping the cream and sugar area well maintained; they only ran out of half and half one time that I know of, and there's never trash lying around. Unfortunately, this Starbucks loses points for parking. There basically isn't any. The two times I wanted to go here in my car, I was not able to park anywhere nearby, so I gave up. Your best bet is to go on foot, or to take some stuff to Comet Cleaners first. Comet always seems to have a spot available. One interesting quirk about this location is that a nice old man (homeless? eccentric?) always opens the door for me. He's "making himself useful," he says. I know it's probably politically incorrect to give a Starbucks 4 stars, especially in a city with as many locally-owned coffeehouses as there are bats - and I prefer to patronize them as much as I can; the local coffeehouses, that is, not the bats - but dammit - when you've got a caffeine crash, your computer screen starts to resemble Sanskrit and you need to de-stress, a girl's gotta do what she can to get her java on. And this just happens to be my nearest coffee establishment to work. I know it's also wrong to judge places on getting compliments from the staff, but I am easily flattered (see: my Buffalo Exchange review) and manipulated. Sorry! When the dorky little barista tells me that orange really flatters me, or when the nice punk girl who seems to work every day (I know, I make a run here almost every day) asks if I got a new haircut (why, yes I did! thank you honey!), you're more inclined to overlook the acidity and burned taste of the joe selections. Additionally, I know that that area of 15th is generally as soulless as Rachel Zoe's eyes, but I gotta love (as Jill mentioned) the polite, bearded homeless dude who is always sitting outside by the front door reading his random collection of dog-eared notebooks and books. I love that he has a "line" for the ladies who walk by - he sees you walking in, then stands up and says, "Oh, well why don't I make myself useful!' then makes a big production of getting up and opening the door. I think he might secretly be Santa's long lost hard-on-his-luck cousin or something. I guess what I like most is that this Starbucks has a handle on the customer service angle that I wish I got more of at a lot of locally-owned coffeehouses WHOSE NAMES I WILL NOT DISCLOSE. I mean, just because you have cool mismatched mid-century furniture, a cool name, art I don't understand for sale on the wall, quirky live acts and better coffee doesn't mean your staff should not be cool to your customers too. The moral is: I don't talk to my coffee; I talk to people. I get more of a friendly, human, everyone-knows-my-name vibe from this Starbucks than I get at a lot of superior coffee joints that just happen to have asshats behind the counter. The reason this review goes down a star is the parking (see: my Comet Cleaners review). Seriously, there are like 5 spaces, two of which are reserved for Comet. Their lack of spots really makes me crazy. So, I know I totally just committed blasphemy for liking this place, but who cares - this staff really does care about giving you your coffee, fast - even if it can't compete with the indie douchebag dens down the street. I don't think the coffee has tasted any different at any location, aside from the Starbucks inside grocery stores, etc. that aren't really Starbucks. At any rate, this one's fine - lines were longish though, as it's in walking distance of my office building and many others. That's a good thing as there are about 5 parking spots shared between Starbucks and Texadelphia next door. So if you're not on foot, I wouldn't even bother. Relatively new on the menu (to me at least) is the Starbucks doubleshot, which is espresso, simple syrup, and a splash of 2% milk over ice. This is a good drink, with lots of caff, and $3 for a venti. A good value, and a must on those hot days where 180 degree steaming beverages are out of the question. read more

For starters, this is just a Starbucks, but, that being said, this one is worthy of mention. Space - Plenty of tables and chairs to spread out in. Bar stools and high top tables in the back, tables in the front, a couple couches, and outdoor seating all amplify the options available. Service - Always quick and usually cheerful. The only negative worth mentioning is the lack of parking in the immediate vicinity for free. If you don't mind dropping a quarter, there's usually plenty of neighborhood parking. read more

5 Stars for their customer service. Although the place is generally packed with state workers trying to satisfy their caffeine craving, the staff is super friendly and keeps the line moving. I appreciate the personal touches, such as remembering names of frequent patrons, as well as their usual drink order. There are times when I order a coffee frap light and receive a caramel frap light instead; however, they are more than happy to replace my drink with a new, and sometimes larger one and also let me keep the original drink. I wish they would consider adding in gluten free pastries. It leaves a lot of us out. My second complaint it is the fact that I ordered a tall white mocha. Not only did they make it wrong once they did it twice I didn't realize it till I walked out to my car and got my car on my way to work I don't have time to go back in for a third chance at screwing up a tall white mocha. Not all Starbucks are awesome, but this one exceeds expectations. I found myself here on a Friday afternoon (ACL Friday, to be exact) and found it a great escape and a nice way to spend an hour before I boarded a plane. I even had my taxi pick me up here, which was super-easy given its location. As a friendly nod to all Starbucks, I think it was a very wise business choice to begin offering free wi-fi instead of the pay-as-you-go TMobile crap that they used to have. They got me to purchase a bagel, latte, and CD all for the price of 60 minutes of accessed wi-fi. Pretty sure that worked in their favor. read more

Above and beyond. This Starbucks faces a steady onslaught of government workers coming from the Capitol area for much-needed caffeine. Many of us consider it the "West Annex." I think this location benefits from exceptional management, and each barista efficiently meets the high volume with assembly-line efficiency and pleasant personality. My best mornings necessarily include a trip here. Note that this location has different hours than most. Recently, working on a weekend, I approached the door to get a refill, only to notice it had closed quite some time before. Disappointed at the wasted trip on a stressful weekend, I was waiting at the crosswalk when one of the baristas (apron already off) brought me a cup of coffee and apologized that they had no more of my preferred roast. Not many Starbucks locations warrant a yelp review. Like most of us, I've been to a million Sbux and know what to expect.
