At first glance, stacks is a very cozy American styled diner. I came with my friends for a brunch gathering, and the wait was around 20 minutes for a Sunday morning. Overall, the service was very nice, and the waitress kept checking up on us, but the food took a while to serve (another 20 minute wait). We ordered the Nutella French Toast, Huevos Rancheros, and the Apple Sausage Omellete along with a couple of blueberry wheat pancakes. I highly recommend all of these items, especially their blueberry wheat pancakes. The Nutella toast was very fluffy, and the wheat germ pancakes had a layer of crusting on top (which was different from other pancake spots). Overall, we ended up spending ~$25 per person. Our server was friendly and that's the only good part of our visit today. We really wanted to give this place a try but overall had a subpar experience and actually got home with stomach aches. I will say people seem to like this place so maybe there are popular items on the menu that they're known for? -- -- -- The strawberry Nutella crepe tasted like old strawberries that had been sitting out and the crepe itself tasted like the type you buy pre made from the grocery store. Not one warm bite at all. Two fist-sized mounds of whipped cream, far too much for my preference. 1/10 The carnitas skillet was dry and tasted like microwaved leftovers from the night before. Been going here ever since I was a kid and quality has been good the entire time! It's easy to park here even though it's in downtown Campbell because it's right by a big parking lot. We walked in & sat at the bar. The diner seemed moderately busy but not weekend morning busy. Our server was Carlos, he didn't greet us until about 10 mins in. While taking our orders, he seemed rushed as though we were a bother. We sat for about 25 mins with no water or update on our orders. People that walked in 10 mins after us were getting their food before we even received our waters. We ended up telling another server to cancel our order and ended up walking out. The staff came to every table to check on everybody and ask if we were okay and to double check our things and make sure everything was right. Did out door dining with mah bf and my best friend and we all enjoyed our food. Portions are pretty big. Maybe if I was younger and in my prime 13 year old vacuum stomach I could have done it. After years of being away from South Bay , finally went back to this spot after raving about it to my family. We were a family of 6 and ordered California Benedict (it was okay, but all the veggies were on the raw side), crab crepe (a big portion of the crepe was raw) spicy California omelette (was great), banana macadamia (great quality and the best thing we had here, we all fought for the last bite), all the hash brown that was served on the side of our plates was white/cold/on the raw side. We also ordered two orange juices, that were clearly spoiled - the manager was nice and offered us to open a new bottle or remove it from our check (which we accepted) Really disappointed in our experience. This is a great no-frills, just pure good-cooking place in Downtown Campbell. I had been to Stacks several years before but since I don't traditionally eat the things they serve here for breakfast I never went back but yesterday my Mother wanted an " American " breakfast so we came here. The place was not very busy on a Wednesday morning at 10 AM when we got there. We were seated immediately by the girl at the counter and several minutes later she took our order. I ordered a Farmer's breakfast, which consisted of 2 pancakes, 2 eggs, 2 bacon strips, 2 sausage links, and potatoes . For a beverage I ordered a glass of orange juice and my Mom ordered breakfast burrito and coffee. We only had to wait about 10 more minutes for our food to be up. Our waiter Carlos was attentive and had everything ready before the order came out and in fact he didn't do very much at all. My Farmer's breakfast was absolutely delicious and really hit the spot. The pancakes were huge, light and fluffy and super moist. The eggs were cooked scrambled the way I wanted and were really filling. The bacon was crispy and I got 2 fat sausage links that were a pleasure to eat. The potatoes capped off a fine meal and I washed it all down with my OJ and by the end of the meal I was COMPLETELY satisfied. I really did enjoy eating at Stacks and I know it is the only place in Campbell I go to when I think about eating a " traditional " American breakfast. Our bill was high ( because of the state the economy was in ) but I think it was worth it for what it was. Stacks is one of my favorite spots to come to for breakfast. The only reason I don't go as often as I'd like to is due to the long wait! The food here tastes like home but better. I always order the sausage and mushroom skillet. The meal comes with 2 eggs, sausages and mushroomson top of hashbrowns. The skillet also comes with a bagel which I replace for a white toast. The portions of mushroom and sausage are perfect. I have also ordered a waffle before along with my skillet and found it to be overwhelming. But it was delicious as well. We had a delicious and filling breakfast here. The husband, kids and their friends enjoyed the food here. We ordered 2 fruit crepes, 1 strawberry waffles, 1 blueberries pancake, 1 bacon avocado omelet, Meyer lemon, ricotta cream and raspberry pancake and a plain pancake. My order was the Meyer lemon pancake and it was a big bitter for my taste. Probably would do strawberry crepe with Nutella next time. Wow! What a breakfast. We left with our stomachs full as can be with delicious food. The banana Nutella French toast is not to be missed! It was dense with flavor, delicious, and left us wanting more. We also ordered the open face breakfast sandwich. Came here for brunch- it was surprisingly crowded for a Thursday- but we were still seated immediately which was nice. My sister in law ordered the crab omelette and she loved it! She had nothing bad to say about it. My brother ordered the spicy veggie omelette, he gave it a 2.5/5. I ordered the lemon, ricotta, raspberry pancakes. They were good. However, I had two big qualms with it. There were big pieces of lemon peel. Like they grated it, instead of zesting it. It left a slightly bitter taste, and I wasn't a fan of the texture. My second qualm was the ricotta was served on top of warm pancakes, so it too became warm. I would've preferred it to be served on the side. If I ever go back, I'd definitely just order a plain pancake, or something more simple. Service was ok. Super fast - but not very friendly. The first time I had Stacks, was 10 years ago near Menlo Park. I was hoping that this location would be the same. It was not. So let's see what went wrong. At the point of when the server asked for what we wanted to order, she requested that we order in the direction we are sitting. So we had to order from left to right. When we were being served, the plates came out 5 minutes apart with the last plate being served 15 minutes after everyone had been served. The omelette was pretty sad. The egg wasn't fluffy, the holandaise sauce was watery, and the omelette was uber small. Their chicken and waffle was more like Chicken tenders and waffles. Ugh We also order a short stack of orea pancakes. They were small. Not the standard big pancakes that are the same size as the plate. Pretty disappointed. The cakes weren't fluffy. We're somewhat gooey in the middle. Not the good gooey, but the type of gooey that made me think the pancakes weren't cooked long enough. I live and work pretty far from Stacks so I haven't been there in years. I was in the neighborhood yesterday so I decided to get my beloved crab melt. The price has gone up, but not by much. Just a few dollars, and it's more than reasonable for using real crab, in my opinion. Still stuffed with crab (though maybe not as much as it used to be), still layered with bright green and ripened avocado slices, and the toast is still buttery and delightfully crisp. This came with a side salad, French fries, and a very small cup of fruit. I asked for no pickle and no tomato - all requests were met! Very satisfying for less than $19. I took one star off because when I called, I was told it only comes with salad. After I remarked that it came with fruit after looking at the menu at checkout, I think they put a tiny side of fruit in the bag. A little weird, especially given how small the container was. I just had brunch here with my husband, my MIL, and my dog for my birthday. The host was very accommodating, we requested for outdoor seating and he kept us updated on the wait. He said 30mins but we were actually seated in less time. Our food came quickly, and I love their lemon ricotta and raspberry pancakes! Okay so we were seated literally right next to kitchen. I DID NOT want to sit here because it's right next to the kitchen and the restaurant is busy. The food here is cool, I came here once before several months ago but trust me, had we experienced what we experienced today, not only would we NOT have waited the 40 mins but we surely would not have returned. Well the egg was partially cooked right but after biting into it, I saw yolk. It wasn't running out but it also wasn't what I asked for when I said, "fried egg, hard, no yolk." Another issue I had was the number of servers touching the bread to be toasted going out on people's plates. I kid you not, I saw NO LESS than 6 different people handling the bread, NOT ONE wore gloves and one of them had long, acrylic nails. I'm like are you SERIOUS?? There was one young girl placing the bread in the toaster and she consistently used tongs. I watched her remove the bread with tongs and place it in the toaster the same way. Someone learned something from the MANDATORY food handling course. However, these various servers who were touching one another on the back, wiping their jeans and one male who I even saw cough on his hands, all handled the bread with not a napkin, glove, tong, nope.... bare hands. My visit to Stacks was a lot better than I previously wrote about. Wonderful service and just as good food today. I arrived with a party of 7 and they were able to accommodate us right away. We got sat and didn't wait long to order and receive our drinks, so we had them when we ordered our food. Great move. We all ordered something different, but I was only able to take a photo the plates near me. Nonetheless, all of the breakfast plates had a great presentation and all of them came out warm. All of my friends raved about their meals, so that gave me some high expectations for the Open Face Breakfast Sandwich I ordered. I also added a side of one Lumberjack pancake to make it a little sweeter. The open sandwich had fresh slices of ham, a good amount of bacon covered with avocado, and eggs and cheese on top. Was craving pancakes so I had to stop by and try Stacks! It's located on a street corner so it's easy to spot. Plus when I went, there was a crowd outside which made it even easier to spot. I used to love this place because I have an egg allergy and they have the substitute eggs you can put into a breakfast burrito. Ate it over a dozen times. Until today apparently. Told the waiter of my allergy and how I like my burrito. My boyfriend took me out for breakfast at Stacks because I was super hungry after my 7am class and I just couldn't wait until lunch since I don't eat breakfast before my class starts. It was very crowded when we arrived and we had to park inside the parking garage and walk the rest of the way. We were seated kind of where the servers pick up the food from the kitchen. Our waiter was very kind and had great hospitality. I forgot what my boyfriend ordered since it has been a few weeks, but I always order an eggs benedict every time I go out for breakfast. I decided to replace the ham with bacon and they gave me A LOT of bacon to the point where I couldn't finish it. It's a good problem to have. It was kind of awkward since the kitchen staff and servers were kind of fighting over a customer's order and the server was apologizing to the kitchen staff but they were just being passive aggressive towards her. Given the post pandemic vibe within most restaurants I feel that it is important to be brutally honest with all of our reviews, take out any negativity and just be real and straight forward. I ordered pancakes, the short stack and I was mildly impressed. I felt that the pancakes were a bit thin, more like their crepe style of batter, the taste was good yet with a name like stacks I would hope that their signature short stack would be traditional fluffy good cakes. Everything was great! We had the gluten free apple waffle, which was spectacular! Literally just melting in the mouth. The flavor was delightful! We also had the chilaquiles, which was incredible. We came on a Saturday morning at 9am and there was no wait (although they won't seat you until your whole party is here) I would pretty disappointed with the food quality - the menu and prices are exactly the same but the food was way worse than the menlo park location. For example we ordered chicken and waffles at both and the menlo Park location gave us real chicken breast + legs and honey on the side while the Campbell location gave us 3 sad chicken strip pieces. My friend ordered the lox which didn't look particularly fresh and everything else was just mediocre... Decided on the Farmers breakfast. It was pretty good I honestly expected more to it, but what really made it was them pancakes. They were not fluffy, but who cares when it tastes soo good. Overly disappointing on ALL LEVELS. If I could assign ZERO Stars...I would. When we arrived this morning, the seating was about half occupied, took 5 minutes to get seated and we were the only ones waiting. We were greeted in a somewhat reasonable time, about 4 minutes. We ordered our meals and when delivered, the food was were cold. Cold pancakes, eggs, potatoes, bacon, and skellet. Did not get a visit from our server except for delivering the check. In fact, the busboy/dishwasher brought me a fresh glass of ice tea! I gave our payment to another server and then after 10 minutes, had to go collect our change. This was our first time back to Stacks after several years hoping the service had improved; alas no. We have no plans to ever go back...very disappointed indeed. read more
