MEAT LOVERS
Lauren T.

My number one brunch place in the Bay Area, hands down! The omelette soufflé is delicious: it comes with either skillet potatoes, or hash browns, as well as your choice of pancakes or toast. Everything tastes so good; you can't go wrong here. I usually get the meat lovers omelette with pancakes. I also love the diner feel and ambience. It's very retro and inviting. Staff is also friendly.

Service was extremely disappointing and food was mid! Was excited to try this place before a long day of activities and their pancakes to waffles looked amazing. Upon arriving parking was very hectic, it's a small lot behind so you might need to try to park across the street or in the neighborhood. There wasn't a long wait but we got seated outside in front of the karate business next door. Big mistake because the waitress barely came over to check on us and it was hard to flag her down. We all got a griddle item with eggs, sausage and hash browns except we all got different griddle items. The waffle and french toast were okay, very average and was simple. Same for the eggs, sausage and hash browns. Just okay but I think I liked the sausage the most.

Saint Patrick's Special Pancakes

We had just finished a hike and wanted a nice brunch spot in the area. My friend had heard good things about Uncle John's, so we decided to stop on by. The interior was a good vibe. It was giving off a modern diner. We were attended to relatively quickly. I have noticed at brunch spots, service tends to be on the slower side. The food was the main highlight of this spot. I had gotten the Maple Chicken Sausage special and my party shared the Saint Patrick's Special pancakes. The sausages were solid and overall the plate was a good breakfast plate. The Lucky Charm pancakes were on the sweeter side, but it was perfect to share between friends. The French toast was my favorite overall. Overall, I think Uncle John's is a solid brunch option if you are in the area. That being said, in my opinion, brunch spots are pretty consistent all across the board.

Had a delicious meal here, loved the cleanliness, chill ambiance, delicious food. I dont know why but we struggled to have anyone serve us. We got our water and our food and then were completely ignored. Had to wave down someone other than our waiter for water, more coffee, even our check. Not once did we get a top up on coffee, water, or literally anything without having to wave someone down (not our waiter, who never came). I wanted more napkins but was too frustrated to have to call someone. I just used my dirty napkin. I wanted more water so I poured some from my daughter's cup. I had to ask someone for coffee because I cant generate that on my own. This was a weekday. There were people, not empty, but less than half packed. I could see all the people but not our waiter. But when it came time to pay and tip, which I had to ask someone else for, she magically appeared and had a great big smile. Tip time! Ugh. Other than that, meal was fantastic. Corned beef hash delicious. Pancake with blueberry. Awesome. Wait staff? Please. It feels like you are trying to make me not want to come back. Which i probably won't. 4 stars for food. 1 for service.

Mushroom, spinach, avocado omelette

I'd give it six stars if I could. Probably one of the most creative breakfast menus I've seen. You can have your breakfast cooked 3 different ways. I chose the omelette style. Everything was fresh and hot. I got there around 7am on a Sunday so there was no wait to sit. When I left, it was nearly full. Highly recommend.

Hung out with friends for brunch. All together it was 4 adults and 2 kids. Overall decor was decent and they had a good amount of tables. But if you are in a large group, you most likely will be split into different tables. I would say 6 would be max group. The reason I took one star is for the fact that the tables are so compact that it was hard to maneuver out like if you had to go to the bathroom. You are almost squeezing through just to get out. The food is good. I got the corned beef hash with eggs and a Swedish pancake. Super yummy. The Swedish pancake butter is really good. Next time I'll have to try the blueberry pancakes as that was recommended. The service was quick. We ordered and shortly after we got our food. The waitress stopped by and asked how everything was. I wouldn't say they went above and beyond but they did their job. Overall a good experience and I'd go back again.

I love finding a new breakfast spot. Uncle John's was solid. Friendly service, with counter dining, tables and booths. Their griddle options to accompany the breakfast dishes is perfect for those who can't decide between sweet and savory. Everything was as expected flavor wise, with their Hollandaise sauce a tad thicker than other places, but still very smooth and rich. We didn't feel rushed, and coffee was topped off frequently. We'll definitely be back!

The waffle was delicious. The fresh blueberry and cream toppings were excellent. However, the rest of the food items were mediocre for their prices. Service was pretty good. We joined the wait-list through Yelp and when we arrived, we were seated immediately. The diner is furnished nostalgically like a low rider. It's very pleasant to be inside.

Classic Breakfast

My son and I came to Uncle John's for breakfast, and they did not disappoint! It was fairly busy but we were able to sit at the counter. The staff was friendly and the service was quick. I ordered one of the house specialties, California Benedict, which has pecan smoked bacon, tomato, avocado, and of course poached eggs on English muffins topped with the delicious hollandaise sauce. Yum! My son ordered the Classic Breakfast that includes two eggs (any style), hash browns, and any griddle item or toast. He got the pancakes which were huge! Everything is cooked to order and comes out hot. The place is very bright and clean and has that old fashioned cafe feel, IMO.

Yes, eat here. Classic diner fare kicked up a level. Their griddle items are delicious. We tried the French toast as well as the Belgian waffle with choco drizzle, strawberries, bananas, and cream. Delicious. We also had the Classic breakfast which included eggs, sausage, and hashbrowns. All solid.

Tldr yummy American breakfast food! My friends and I just randomly found this place and decided to try it. This place doesn't really have a selection for vegans or lactose people but we managed. We ordered the souffle omelette, swedish crepes, oatmeal, and got eggs+bacon on the side and hash browns. Everything was really good! The eggs were a bit runny but fully cooked, which is what I appreciate more. My favorite was the swedish crepes. It's literally just crepes and butter but the lingonberry butter was so good. It was a bit savory and sweet and tasted like berries. I would definitely come back just for that butter. The omelette was also really tasty! The side hash was mid but I didn't really care because of the omelette. It was packed full of the toppings and each bite had a good amount and was pretty evenly distributed. Some other thoughts about this place: - There is desayuno on the menu and that is what I will be trying when I come back. - There is parking in the back if you can't find street parking. But probably come early because it looks really packed even on a Sunday morning. - the staff were all super nice! And it was really cute that they are all wearing holiday sweaters - coffee is mid. But that's ok with me lol. They have peppermint mocha creamer

Meat lover's scramble with hash browns.

Yesterday was one of those mornings where I was sooo hungry but nothing sounded good. I hadn't been to Uncle John's in several months and decided to give them a try again since their food was so delicious last time. Had sausage links, scrambled eggs, and hash browns, and it was amazing. Everything was seasoned and cooked perfectly. I loved the sausage-- the links were huge and they had a little kick to them that added to the whole meal. I ate it very, very fast. Thank you Uncle John's for another wonderful breakfast.

BELGIAN WAFFLE
Katie R.

Truly in shock at the massive portions of food here! When I read that many of the meals included a griddle item, I assumed it would be a smaller portion of a griddle item, but nope - you get the whole thing! My boyfriend and I decided to share a couple different items, as we tend to, but we easily could've gotten away with one plate + a girdle item. We ordered the South of the border soufflé omelette and Big boy breakfast, which came with all of the available breakfast meats. Each item came with a griddle item so we went with the pancakes and belgian waffle. We both preferred the savory items and enjoyed the crispiness of the hashbrowns. I liked the belgian waffle over the pancakes, but would opt for no powder sugar next time because it made it a little too sweet for me. This spot seems to be very popular since it's always pretty crowded with people spilling out onto the sidewalk waiting or enjoying the outdoor seating. Though it doesn't seem very big, there is quite a bit of seating with the indoors, outdoor, and counter spots.

When we were seated, we were given a list of items that were not available. I originally wanted to try the pancakes but ended up ordering the chicken sandwich instead. This was genuinely one of the worst chicken sandwiches I have ever had. It was extremely gristly, fatty, and made with dark meat, which felt like an odd choice for a chicken sandwich. I'm not sure why this cut of chicken was used. The fries were alright, but they did not come with the sandwich and cost an additional $5. Our total came to almost $90 for three entrees with no beverages. I was especially frustrated because my sandwich was inedible. For the price and quality, I will not be returning and would not recommend this place.
