We tried tostada's for the first time a few weeks ago, unfortunately there was a problem with their online ordering system. I placed the order for pickup pretty early on a weekend morning, ETA for the food given was 40 minutes. There was no option to pay ahead only an option to pay at pickup. We waited 40 minutes then went to the restaurant only to find out they never received our order. The host told us this has happened a few times and we need to make sure we select to pay ahead or else the restaurant doesn't receive the order, but I double checked there is no way to pay ahead online. He recommended I call to complain so that they will fix the system, but this should be the manager of the restaurants job. I placed the order and had to wait an additional 25 minutes. They did throw in an extra hash brown and were very apologetic, but if this had happened to multiple people I'm confused why they haven't resolved the problem or simply disabled the option to order online directly from their website. The food was pretty good, large portions. If we decide to eat here again and the experience is less annoying I'll update my review. read more

We decided to eat at Tostadas in San Jose for lunch and were really looking forward to it. We were promptly seated and given menus, which seemed like a good start... until it wasn't. Our waiter dropped off the menus and disappeared. A couple walked in about five minutes after us, sat down, and immediately got asked for their drink order by the same waiter who hadn't even acknowledged us since seating. Their drinks arrived shortly after while we were still sitting there, invisible. Then another staff member walked right past our table to check on a different group, asking if they were doing okay. Still nothing for us. A few minutes later, a lady came out and took that couple's food order while we continued to wait. At this point, my friend tried to politely say "excuse me" as another employee walked by, he completely ignored us and kept walking. So... we just left. We weren't expecting a red carpet, but being completely ignored while multiple tables around you are helped is a bit much. Maybe we just didn't look "thirsty" enough for a drink order? ‍ Anyway, I'm sure the food's great if you can actually get the opportunity to order it. We wouldn't know. read more

This place was amazing! We went today to celebrate my father in law's birthday. First off the inside is gorgeous with greenery hanging from the ceiling and the paintings on the walls. We were greeted warmly when we came in and the service was great! Especially since we were such a large group. My husband ordered the carne asada, which looked fantastic and came out sizzling. I called around 11:00 AM to place a lunch order over the phone. Getting through was really hard, I have to call multiple times. When I went to go pick up my lunch order the restaurant was not busy at all. Customer service was great. I only had to wait about 1 to 2 minutes for my order. We had the best waiter when we went on a Saturday morning for brunch. He was so kind and made my family feel welcomed. When asked, he gave us recommendations on his favorite foods and drinks. I ordered the chilaquiles, which is my normal go to. It comes pretty spicy (this was my second time ordering it), so I asked if they can lower the spice level. Our waiter said he'd try and that he will also give me sour cream on the side to help with the spice! My husband ordered the eggs Benedict. He said he liked my breakfast more. We sat in a separate room. It was quieter than the main bar area, which was nice. In general, I think happy hour is my favorite here! They have great options and I love their birria tacos! Fully satisfying and worth the price Chilaquiles Verdes Corn tortilla chips tossed in green salsa, chorizo, sour cream, queso fresco, and pico de gallo. Served with two eggs any style. Seasoned potatoes or beans - my sis had this. Must say this is the best version of Chilaquiles I have had. The salsa they use was just amazing! It may not look like much but is is very filling Raspberry Cheesecake Pancakes: Signature buttermilk pancakes filled with cheesecake bites and raspberries - I was pleasantly surprised with this dish. The pancakes and sauce were just perfect. Not too sweet and had a little tang to it. Definitely a keeper! Birria Tacos: Birria, onion, cilantro, and melted cheese, Served with consomé - this was yummy...although a little salty, nothing some sour cream and lime cannot fix. My son and I wanted to have Mexican food after shopping, so, of course, I looked up Yelp for the nearest place and decided on Tostadas. The place was packed but fortunate to get a table. The food was great! I got Tostadas de Carnitas that come with two. I gotta say that the carnitas was sooo tender! Oh so good! My son went for breakfast and got bacon, scrambled eggs, and hash browns. He also got an order of buttermilk pancakes. (He loves breakfast. ) They have happy hour 2:00-5:00 pm during the week. A few food items for $4 and drinks for $5 and $6. The food here is good, but not great. Slow kitchen, and the food isn't quite warm enough. We had a similar experience at the midtown location. I will say that our server gave us each a complimentary bowl of pozole to compensate for the slow service, which was very nice. My husband ordered the California Eggs Benedict. He liked the flavors, but he said it was hard to eat due to the awkward construction of the ingredients. Everything just kept falling apart. He also asked for grilled onions added to his Benedict, but they added them on the side, instead of with the other ingredients, so that wasn't what he was hoping for. Delicious chips and salsa. We went to this restaurant last night because our friend Al was really craving some Mexican food. My sister-in-law had been there before, We weren't expecting too much after checking out the Yelp reviews. The drinks were definitely good! For appetizers, we got the elote, guacamole, ceviche, and carne asada tacos. They were okay--not bad, but not mind-blowing either. For our main courses, we ordered the combo fajitas and the trompo al pastor. The fajitas were solid, with tasty chicken and shrimp, but the steak had a strange flavor, almost like liver, which was a bit odd. On the other hand, the al pastor was fantastic and definitely a standout! Overall, it was a mixed experience food-wise, but I'd be open to giving it another shot maybe for brunch next time. Perfect place for breakfast lunch or dinner. Located in the middle of Campbell off of Hamilton and Winchester. They had lots of parking. And it was easy to find. Our server Robert was very attractive and knowledgeable about the menu. I love the dish she recommended and the green sauce instead of the red on the enchiladas. Also, he seems very passionate about the restaurant and company itself. He really seemed like he loved working for the family. The service also was fast and efficient. Decided to check out Tostadas after seeing it on Check please. The decor was nice and I like that most of the seats were booth seats- nice and comfy! We had such an amazing time at Tostadas, and a huge part of that was thanks to our server Robert. He made us feel welcomed and at home, not just random strangers there for brunch. Robert went above and beyond in the most fun ways. He surprised us with French toast conchas, which we are now officially obsessed with, and the flaming skull head shot! He was very attentive and check in on us periodically. We never felt rushed. Robert's energy and thoughtfulness turned a regular meal into a celebration we will not forget. If you go to Tostadas and don't get Robert as your server, I am not sure you can truly experience the magic. Hmmm Popped in for the first time today with my fam for a little Friday Happy Hour. It was just before 5pm and the place was empty except for one other table which was surprising for a Friday. I didn't use the restroom but my brother said it was cool with fun photos. Parking is easy and plentiful which is a plus. Can I just give a HUGE shout out to our server Robert. He was fantastic! He truly made the experience fun and was the best part of our visit for sure. Thanks Robert! We just wanted drinks and apps to share. Here's what we ordered: SANGRIA $15: LOVED the cute pineapple shaped glasses these came in. Super cute. Sadly they were packed with ice and very little sangria. And the sangria wasn't very boozy for $15 a pop. HH MARGARITA $6: I didn't get a chance to taste this but my brother said it was good. SLUSHY FLIGHT $17: These were cute and presented in little glasses. This was the mojito blend and we really didn't care for the flavor but could tell there was a decent amount of booze in them so obviously we polished em off. HH GUAC $5: HUGE portion for $5 so great value. Sadly it lacked flavor and all I could taste was the red onion in it which was overpowering so we only ate half. The salsa was pretty good so I dipped my chips mostly in that. Buuuut, the chips themselves seemed a little stale? SHRIMP QUESADILLA $18: this was my favorite by far. The shrimp were cooked perfectly and had just the right amount of cheese. I also liked the spicy sauce that came with it. GRILLED CHICKEN QUESADILLA $15: this was fine. The chicken was grilled nicely and again, the right amount of cheese inside. PAPER STRAWS: I hate these! I get that they're environmentally friendly but seriously terrible. The food is really good here. We ordered the churro waffle with a side of bacon, the red chilaquiles with country potatoes, birria tacos and the steak and eggs with hash brown potatoes. Absolutely no complaints with flavor or presentation. Our service was the problem. When we arrived, there was no host/hostess at the entrance and we waited about 3 minutes before we were approached. Once seated, we waited another maybe 10 minutes for someone to come by and take our drink order. We were a party of 5 and he only took 3 of our 5 drink orders before walking away. I'm not sure what this was about, but when he arrived, he had brought the other 2 of us waters, which is not what we wanted to order. Once the waitress came to take our order, it had been a good 20 minutes since being seated. Once our food was brought out, it was brought out in portions- what I mean by this is my husbands food was brought out first, then 5 minutes later my food came out, then a couple minutes later the steak and eggs and at the end, 8 minutes later (I counted) the birria tacos were brought out. This isn't good practice at all. Either food gets cold waiting for all dishes to come out, or we dig in and leave guests without their food watch us eat... I didn't care for that at all. Lastly, we weren't checked in by servers at all during our meal for refills. As a matter of fact, one of the members in our party stood up to find our server and get a refill. This is my second time eating Toastadas at this location. My first time was when I did a pick up order. Before I arrived I had joined on Yelp, and the host said it was going to take awhile.. which is weird because there was only one other party of two in front of me for a Sunday around 1pm. There was nobody else. It was a bit packed but as I wanted 2-3 parties left. Anyways... the Yelp wait list also never updated so when I was home it still said to check my place in line. Onto the food ~ I ordered the corn on the cob, it came out last.. which was weird because that's an appetizer. It wasn't even hot . Had the Birria and Chicken tostadas and even though the menu only had a 2x chicken or 2x Birria selections the waiter allowed me to have 1 of each and it was great to compare the two proteins. Today was my first time at this location and I never realized how much closer/more convenient it is from where I live. The interior is also nicer/quieter, which I prefer. Honestly, I don't think you can go wrong with this unless you have a shellfish allergy (I've tried other tostadas before but they're ok). I tried the concha French toast today and it is so good! Will definitely have order this again and have already told everyone I know about it haha. Came in on a Saturday around 6:30pm and a got a table fairly quick. As soon as we sat down they brought over some chips and salsa. Sever came over not too long after and too our drink order. We had a michelada with shrimp and a cantarito which is made with Los Altos blanco, lime, agave, pineapple-mango puree, squirt soda. Both of the drink were made perfectly. The shrimp on the michelada was nicely season and fresh. We had Elote (Street Corn) with Tajín, aioli, Mexican mayo, queso cotija and lime and Quesadillas Fritas Fried corn quesadillas stuffed with pollo en tinga & Oaxaca cheese Topped w/ lettuce, cotija cheese, radishes, sour cream and avocado sauce. My 1st time having street corn which was good and the fried quesadilla with the chicken inside was good. We also ordered the Birria Tacos and the ceviche mixto. The Ceviche Mixto came with a mixture of shrimp, octopus, tuna, cucumber, jicama, mango, cilantro, lime juice and house specialty ponzu sauce. One of the best I had. Everything al this plate was fresh!!! The Birria Tacos plate had 3 perfectly cooked tender birria (beef) tacos. It tasted exactly like you would imagine, tomato red sauce pizza with birria. It's fine but I wouldn't get it again. The enchiladas is a big filling portion with lots of meat. I love that they bring chips and salsa to the table as soon as you're seated The drinks were the best part of the meal. I love the decor on the inside: neon signs, plant wall, murals.
