Sometimes you go out to eat at a great restaurant like Doppio Zero in Campbell (4 out of 5 stars)and it is a really fun experience. The food is great. The fresh warm sourdough bread has inspired me to start consuming more of this gut healthy bread. They even serve their water in a glass wine bottle (no more plastic consumption for me.) The service was awesome. The waiter even wanted to sit next to you and the kids at the booth. They closed out their San Jose Wolfe location after COVID. The downtown Campbell was definitely a hotspot for the locals. I highly recommend coming here with your family. We ate our dinner family style. It is a top spot in my list; I will be returning with friends who can enjoy their big selection of wine. I am not going to make my favorite corn with baby arugula pizza today because I ate my last corn last night. (Safeway had a digital coupon for corn for only $0.12 each). I have fresh vine tomatoes, mild sausage, and a Home Depot nearby that has a vast array of fresh Italian herbs. I was very disappointed with my experience. The prices have gone up significantly, yet the food portions have become incredibly small--more like a kids' meal than an adult serving. I left the restaurant still hungry because there simply wasn't enough food. It feels like they keep raising prices while reducing portion sizes, and the value just isn't there anymore. To make matters worse, they automatically charge an 18% gratuity on top of the already high prices. I don't feel they respect their customers when they continue to charge more while serving such small portions. As a paying customer, I expect a fair meal for the price. There are plenty of other restaurants that offer much better value and show more respect for their customers. I can't recommend this place, and unfortunately, I won't be coming back. read more

The sliced beef appetizer was probably my least favorite. Just not a dish that wowed me. It had a spread served with it that tasted like tuna. Not exactly sure how to describe it. Profiterol dessert - chocolatey richness and creamy bottom Porto - 10 years was very nice The service was good for the most part, but lacked the level of care that most high-end restaurant would offer. We ended up getting served by the bartender who was trying to close up and not concerned about attending to us once we got our drink and food. Ordered dinner for delivery from Doppio Zero last night. A Yelp friend had raved about the spinach ravioli, so I ordered that. I also ordered the Pera Pizza, knowing it would be too much food and I'd have tasty leftovers for the next day. The spinach ravioli was filled with wild mushrooms and ricotta and was nestled in a fondue truffle sauce. It was very rich, but quite delicious. The Pera Pizza was topped with slices of pears, mozzarella, goat cheese, bacon, and a little honey. It was also delicious, but could have used more pears. It was a flatbread pizza, and the bread was scrumptious. Overall, it was a nice dinner and I did indeed have plenty of leftovers. Next time I plan to order the Salad Pera that has nectarines on it. read more

It was pretty spacious, as it's a corner lot, with extra seating outside for those that want some extra people watching. We got seated right away and our pizzas came out quick. However, the service was lackluster. Our server didn't check on us once after bringing us drinks. We had to flag someone else down to get our check and to go box. The margarita pizza was good with its wood fired crust and just the right amount of cheese, but also it was a little soggy on the bottom. There's quite a lot of pizza options with different types of meat but not a ton of vegetarian options. I was wanting to try their vegan, but not a fan of eggplant and the menu noted "no modifications." I may give them another try at a different location and split some small plates and salads. Tried Doppio Zero for lunch on a Wednesday. We were a party of 5 and they got us immediately seated. We ordered Calzone and Salmone Griglia. They were really good. A delicious meal in a beautiful setting. I visited on a Tuesday evening, and it was surprisingly busy. Since it was a weekday, I didn't think there'd be quite so many people, so I'm glad I made a reservation ahead of time. The atmosphere was inviting, with warm lighting and minimalistic decor. There was a pleasant chatter from the customers. My experience was overwhelmingly positive, but I will note the service was extremely slow. It took us probably 20 minutes to flag down a waiter, order, and get water. There was free bread, but we didn't get it until after our meal arrived, which was interesting. I don't think (or I'm hoping) this was an anomaly. The restaurant was busy but not overwhelmingly so. The food was superb. I've been to the MV location and really enjoyed the dishes I ordered, so I knew this would be a memorable meal. I highly recommend the Marechiaro, a squid ink pasta in a spicy tomato sauce with plentiful seafood. The sauce is so fragrant, and I love how the pasta has a bit of a bite to it. The noodles were perfectly al dente. The fettuccine wild boar was another standout dish. The braised boar was extremely tender and melted in my mouth. The housemade noodles were once again nicely al dente. I really enjoyed the Doppio Zero pizza. The freshness of the arugula contrasted against the creaminess of the burrata and the saltiness of the prosciutto. I did notice there wasn't much prosciutto on the pizza - a couple extra pieces would have enhanced the dish! The dessert was good but honestly a skip. The tiramisu and limoncello cake were fine but a pricey penny for a small portion. There are particular dishes I love at Doppio Zero (specifically the Marechiaro). Servers are friendly. Setup is spacious enough. Only thing is they have smaller tables for three, which are actually only for two. So adjusting plates once food came was a circus. We ordered one white porchetta pizza and one red carnivore pizza with pepperoni and sausage. The meat pizza was good and flavorful. The pizza crust is not soggy in the center but is weak since the pizza crust is thin. It had a crispy and little chew for the crust. The white pizza was ok other than the issue that the porchetta was very dry. Dipping it in the olive oil balsamic vinegar helped. For a pizza over $20 I expect the pizza to be on point. The place is priced on the high side so this isn't a place I would go to regularly but I would come back and try something else on the menu. read more

Asked for a booth, and even though booths were available, we were seated in the bar area. No biggie. Unfortunately, as soon as we sat down and ordered our food, I got hit with an unbearable migraine. So we ended up having to ask our waiter to pack our food up to go. He was very friendly and accommodating. The hubby managed to squeeze in a cocktail and said it was great. So I look forward to coming back for their drinks. Once home, I did get to try a slice of their bufalina pizza, and it was outstanding. The pizza is always solid, the service has always been friendly, and the vibe at this Campbell location is so much better than the Mountain View one. It's bright, lively, and in a great area for people watching, especially if you grab a seat at the bar. The side windows open up too, which makes it especially nice during the warmer season and gives the whole place a fun, open atmosphere. The whole place just feels inviting and easy to enjoy whether you're meeting friends, grabbing pizza, or just wanting a fun dinner in a good location. It's one of those spots where you can relax, enjoy the energy around you, and have a consistently good time. That said, we decided to branch out and try a different appetizer since we've already tried most of the menu, and the octopus was a HUGE miss. It was $19 for one small tentacle, and for that price it just didn't feel worth it at all. Zazzle at Santana Row is also overpriced, but at least they give you way more octopus and a much bigger tentacle. Honestly, you could probably go to an Asian market, buy a whole octopus for around that price, and grill it yourself. The dish itself was also pretty mid. Not terrible, just not memorable and definitely not worth $19. It felt more like a $10 dish. The puree tasted almost like leftover soup carrot and tomato. So overall, I still really like this place and I'd absolutely come back for the pizza, the other appetizers, the ambience, the location, and the service. Just skip the octopus and stick with what they do best. read more

I've been a big fan of Doppio Zero since visiting their Mountain View location years ago. While I've tasted quite a bit from the menu at the other location, I've only been here for happy hour, which was great! Happy hour (at the time I wrote this review) is Monday-Thursday from 4:30-6. They do offer their regular full menu during this time, but they also have some food and drink specials. Our group shared meatballs and a small happy hour pizza, then got a variety of drinks. I got an aperol spritz and a glass of wine, all of which were discounted on happy hour. Service was super friendly, we sat outside and they were actively moving umbrellas to make sure we stayed shaded. Can't wait to come back here more often! read more

Amazing Italian place. This place was recommended by one of my Italian friend and it is truly phenomenal. All the food was so done so well. The polpo was a little small but the texture and salad pair with it was on point. For little gem it was also very refreshing and you could really taste the anchovies. For both of these dishes, I think the hardest thing about salad is seasoning it correctly since if too much sauce it gets soggy but too little would make you feel like you're just eating raw veggies so they do a great job seasoning it. For the pastas, I could not stop eating the Marechiaro Pasta. It was seasoned perfectly, the seafood was not overcooked, and the pasta was perfectly al dente. The wild boar fettuccine was also great, the slow cooked meat was not dry and overly chewy and meshes with the pasta perfectly. Now the pizzas. I cannot stop talking about their Figs pizza. There are so many pizzas so I wouldn't know if it's their best pizza but it definitely blew me away. The ingredients used, the salty from the prosciutto, savory from the balsmic, with a tiny little bit sweet from the figs, really compliments the perfectly chewy dough makes me finish a slice in seconds. The sopressata pizza was also really good, it is pretty spicy for people who can't handle spice, I loved it but the figs one just took over the show. Enjoyed a delicious dinner during our first visit to DZ Campbell, after being years-long fans of the Mountain View location. This location has a pleasingly open and modern ambiance that blends nicely with the downtown Campbell vibe. We nibbled on pleasingly crisp, flavorful truffle fries while enjoying cocktails (Pornstar and Espresso Fizz Martini were both great), and then ordered a few items to share for dinner (we were a party of 3). The classic Margherita pizza, and their signature Doppio Zero pizza did not disappoint - I could eat that pizza dough every day, and it's the star of their Neapolitan style pizzas. I've had their pizzas before, but this was the first time we tried their wild mushroom spinach ravioli, which is served in a fondue truffle sauce. We loved every bite and used the pizza crust to soak up every drop of the sauce lol. We were quite full, but talked ourselves into sharing a Hazelnut Tartufo (dark chocolate + hazelnut gelato covered in praline and hazelnut), and then rounded out our meal with Limoncello shots. Great meal overall, and service was cheerful and attentive. Parking isn't too bad...there's a lot nearby, but we were lucky and found a spot right in front. He said he would bring it right away, but 15 minutes later it still had not come. When I asked again, his response was that the restaurant was busy. I completely understand that restaurants get busy, which is why I even offered to purchase a glass of wine directly from the bar and bring it back to the table myself, but he told me I could not do that. The food itself was not bad, but the customer service was disappointing.
