You can't spell "ok" without Oak. First, I was seated in a corner of a wall, in an uncomfortable hot room, just two small pizzas away from loud, coughing children and their oblivious parents. Considering the other two tables had unnecessarily loud kids and clueless parents, and bad echoing acoustics of the room, it felt more like a Chuck E. Cheese. Whether it's the 6:00 hour or the ineffective Los Gatos parents, I'm not sure. If I went back I'd have to insist on sitting at the bar, in the patio, or after a minor lobotomy. After enjoying some refreshingly warm, room temperature water and a $4 can of Diet Coke, we had a soft pretzel, that was too soft. Like "did the oven break?" soft. Like right after a cold shower soft. Then we had some arancini. They were so flavorless we had to ask for salt and pepper here. Salt salt salt salt salt and pepper here. The lemony fried potatoes with black pepper and dill (and a watery ranch they call smoked creme fraiche) were awesome. Someone who loves food and people created that recipe. I don't think they work there anymore. If they do, I hope they don't get fired for secretly making something tasty behind the executive chef's back. After the potatoes I was thinking "now they're cookin' with gas" but the barely cooked pizzas came out and then I thought maybe they're cookin' with lighters. The margarita pizza is named that because you will need to down two margaritas after wasting your money on bland, flimsy, truly disappointing sauce-dough. The Jack Burton pizza with arugula was fine. But if you don't know underdressed salad and undercooked pizza, you don't know Jack. At least service is good and fast and the toilet faces an 80s TV playing videos. The TV had a big number three on it, which is weird, but thank God it wasn't a number two.

I came here to use my resy credit through Amex and didn't exactly love the experience. While it wasn't horrible, it also wasn't the best. We got a few drinks, their best selling apps and their pasta to share. The drinks were decent, but transparently I was most disappointed by their lack of flavor within their food and their service. There have been several reviews commenting on the service before, I was hoping it had changed since it had been some time, but unfortunately it hasn't. I don't think I'd come back. Was quite sad because of all the great reviews. Hopefully it was just a one off

My husband and I came for a dinner reservation at 5 PM on a Monday night and I was shocked to see that there was already a line outside before they had even opened. We were the only party there that had reservations and got to sit in the "upstairs" dining room but was on the edge and my poor husband had to sit right next to the stairs where everyone would be able to see him from the entry way. There's outdoor seating available and it looked like a fair amount of groups had opted for that based off of the fact that nearly all the outside tables were taken when we left (calling this out b/c it was 45 degrees out and heat lamps only provide so much warmth). I do like the fact that their pizzas are light and that they actually slice the pieces well to make it easy to tear. I kind of just wished they would leave the condiments on the table rather than you needing to ask for them. We ordered: Pretzel: 2/5, it was a bit thin and too soft for my liking but the beer cheese was good Shaved brussels sprouts: 3/5, interesting flavor but personally I thought it was too much cheese because I wasn't able to taste any of the lemon vinaigrette The Jerk: 4/5, good flavor and unique Truffle Shuffle: 2/5, I was so sad because this is the one I was looking forward to the most. It smelled amazing but tasted like nothing ~~Parking: The restaurant is located in the Los Gatos downtown area so there's an okay amount of street parking and there's a few public parking lots available as well. Parking can be difficult depending on the time you come. ~~Service: Good. I'm not one who likes dark dining and asked to have the lights turned on b/c they were just off with only a candle for light. Towards the end of our meal the overhead lightbulbs seemed to be finicky and kept turning off and on. I noticed the table that was next to us was asked if they wanted anything with their pizza upon delivery but we had to ask for crushed red peppers. ~~Return: Possibly, to try other items on the menu.

If I could give Oak & Rye extra stars for vibes alone, I would. This is hands down my favorite restaurant in Los Gatos. The interior has that old world, warm, slightly rustic feel that immediately makes you want to settle in. Add genuinely great customer service and a prime location and it already feels like home before the food even hits the table. Now the food. I am a huge soft pretzel fan and that is what brought me here in the first place. The pretzel absolutely delivers. Crispy on the bottom, chewy inside, almost reminds me of Korean salt bread. It is dangerously good. If I am being picky, and I am, it could use just a touch more butter to be perfect, but I still think about it regularly. The pizza is where things get serious. The pizza with their hot chili and honey is unreal. It honestly reminded me of Pizza 4P's in Asia, which is a very high bar. I am officially an elitist when it comes to pizza now and I am not sorry about it. The crust, the balance, the flavor, it is all there. Fantastic is not an exaggeration. My only wish is that they leaned even harder into creative cheese options. I would love to see a five cheese situation with brie, camembert, truffle oil, or even a charcuterie option for apps. Putting that out into the universe. The tap beer was excellent and the recommendation from our waiter was spot on. Love when the staff actually knows what they are talking about. This place is especially lovely on weekends but do yourself a favor and reserve on Resy because everyone else has figured it out too. Oak and Rye just gets it.

We went for dinner on a busy weekend. Since we had a reservation, we were seated right away outside on a side patio. The seating was a bit odd since it was right by the entrance and not part of the main patio, but the staff was super friendly and welcoming. Our server even changed the heater gas tank for us, which we really appreciated especially on a cold winter night! Food-wise, the roasted potatoes were pretty bland and not our favorite. The gnocchi was very flavorful, and the truffle pizza was good too. We also had some wine and a mocktail with our meal. Overall, the service was great, and I'd definitely come back again because of it.

I've started having dishes other than pizza here. Oak and Rye calls itself a pizza place but it's so much more. Elevated dishes reflect fine dining in a casual place with an energizing vibe. Yesterday was ramen day (yes, ramen, with a tonkatsu broth that honored the pork. I also had the gnocchi with jerk chicken, a staff favorite that is now a favorite of mine, too. Stellar service from genuinely happy people. And did I mention the food? And, yes, I still think the pizza is the best in the Bay Area.

Dont understand the bad ratings! We went on Monday evening and it was hopping almost to full capacity. Husband and I ordered cocktails and 2 pizzas-the margarita and the goomba. Loved the charred edges on the crust and the pizza was amazing! Best eaten hot. Cocktails were good too though on the smaller side. Service was friendly and we will definitely go back! Total was $100 with tax and tip for 2 codktails and 2 pizzas.

We came here on a Wednesday night at 5pm with reservations. No issues getting in. Getting a table. Started with the mushrooms, unique flavorful and amazing. Then we went to risotto balls which were perfect in texture with crunch and softness with a ripe tomato sauce that was so subtle but nice. Then we went to the Scotty to hotty. Was delightful. Service was attentive and timely. I will be back.

Picked up a couple of pizzas from Oak & Rye for a nice afternoon picnic at the Vasona Lake Park this weekend. My friends also joined and ordered their pizzas and a couple of the Brussels Sprouts Salad. Everyone enjoyed their orders. Both the Margherita and the Konami Code pizzas that we tried were great. The pizzas were a little soft, but that's likely because we had them after almost 30-40 mins. Better soft than tough/chewy TBH. Pro-tip: get their hot chili oil - it gives just the right amount of kick to the pizzas. The service was quick, and they also gave us some plates to go when we said we were doing a picnic in the park - that was really nice of them. Looks like they have some good rye-based cocktails. I'll keep that for next time. Definitely recommend!

The wife wanted to hang out in Los Gatos last Sunday so we walked around for a while and did some window shopping. She had heard about Oak and Rye and wanted to check it out. So we killed time until they opened for dinner at 5pm. The place looked pretty small from the entrance but it looks like there are more seating areas to the left of where you enter. But we wanted to sit at the bar anyway, so that's where we went. Bar was open so we bellied up and got our menus. We weren't really ready for a full-on dinner so we ended up splitting a pizza and a salad. This ended up being pretty much the perfect amount of food and certainly could have served as a dinner for 2 people. The Arugula salad was very good. It was well-dressed and a large size. The pizza we shared was the Scotty 2 Hottie, (throwback to the old WWF wrestling tag team). The pizza was good but not amazing. Since going to Italy last year and starting to make pizza dough and pizza at home, I guess we've kind of become pizza snobs. Don't get me wrong, the pizza was good. It just didn't blow us away. But the stand out part of our experience was the bartender, Austin. He was very friendly and informative. I spoke to him about how I was recently laid off from my job and had long thought about getting into bartending. He told me how he got started. So we had a few drinks, a glass of wine with the pizza and I got an Amaro flight after dinner. Austin was very helpful with making suggestions. Overall, the experience at Oak and Rye was very good and we would certainly come back.

We dined here for the first time last night with my dad. The service was excellent. We had an estimated wait time of 30-45 min but got seated in 20 which was amazing (we arrived at 7:30pm)! The staff was great and the food came out so quick despite how busy they were. The food was alright i wouldn't say it was the best but the vibes made up for it. They have primarily vegetarian pizza options We are still happy we tried it!

Oak & Rye in Los Gatos is one of those places that instantly pulls you in with its cozy yet energetic vibe. The bar is lively, the lighting feels just right, and the staff know their menu inside and out. I started with a miso-inspired cocktail that was incredibly unique--smooth, savory, and balanced with just the right touch of sweetness. I followed it with a creative twist on an Old Fashioned, and both drinks were crafted to perfection. For food, we shared two pizzas: the Jerk and the Commissioner Gordon. Both were absolute standouts. The crusts had that perfect wood-fired char, thin but still chewy, and every topping was layered thoughtfully for flavor and texture. The Jerk had a smoky, spiced kick that was addicting, while the Commissioner Gordon delivered a mix of savory and tangy that was just right. We also ordered the fried potatoes, and they were decadent--crispy on the outside, soft inside, and perfectly seasoned. Everything here feels elevated but not overdone. You can tell the chefs and bartenders really care about what they're creating. Between the atmosphere, the flavors, and the creativity behind every dish and drink, Oak & Rye is easily one of the best dining spots in Los Gatos. Perfect for date night, a fun dinner with friends, or just an excuse to treat yourself.

Delicious wood oven grilled pizzas. I got the standard, the margarita. It was similar to what I had in Italy. Crispy bottom. A little of sauce, and some basil spread out. The chewy warm crust is amazing. Service is spectacular! On a Saturday night at 7:30 even though we had a reservation, we still had to wait a while and we were going to be late to an event. Also we sat upstairs by the kitchen so it gets loud and hot by the oven. Price point is high with most pizzas over $25, some almost $30. Appetizer of 3 meatballs is $18. I feel like either the portions should be bigger, or the price should be a little bit less. There is no green salad option - brussels, caesar (which is not Italian), and arugula. There is 1 entree meat option, the chicken parm, and I wanted some other options as well like eggplant, beef, or fish. Drinks come out very slowly as there is only 1 bartender.

It comes on its own if you're not feeling super hungry, but of course I opted to add a very generously sized pile of show string fries to my meal. We tried 4 of their brunch cocktails and all of them were excellent; the basil punch, Hugo spritz, peach Bellini, and another drink that I can't remember the name of that had gin. All of the cocktails were well balanced with bright citrus, a decent amount of liquor, and not too sweet. My favorite was the basil punch, which tasted like a very elevated limeade. Definitely recommend sitting on their large patio, the restaurant is called park side for a reason! If it's too hot or one of the few rainy days in California, they have ample seating inside as well. The service was excellent and our servers were friendly, attentive, and offered to bring things like additional condiments without us having to ask.

She provided us with recommendations at the top and when we were asking questions about getting multiple dishes family-style, she provided feedback on whether it would be enough for the table. We felt well-attended to. Asa does rotate through their menu and the main downside was timing for us! My sister really wanted the carbonara she had seen on the menu but they had literally switched over to their spring menu. No carbonara for my sis. :( We shared: Jamon Iberico (good, straightforward), Caesar salad (I wish I had had my own! Still, the overall experience felt much more casual compared to when I used to come here 12 or so years ago, when it had a more elevated and refined atmosphere. The service staff seemed fairly inexperienced, the interior decor now feels a bit dark and dated, and the food portions were surprisingly small. The food itself was good overall, but the limited selection was disappointing and left us wanting more variety. I may give their dinner service another try sometime down the road, but for now, I probably won't be returning anytime soon.

Originally when they opened, the menu online looked tailored more towards brunch, so I wasn't sure what to expect. Turned out, there were a lot of menu options that fit into HH. Quite a few beverage options, as well, that are lightly discounted 3:30- 5:30pm. We enjoyed the HH menu Sparkling Rose ($12) and the HH ahi tartare served with wonton chips. The Rose was nice, and the ahi was pretty good, but nothing noteworthy. There have been so many restaurants in that location over the last 25 years, starting back at the Chart House, so I suspect a really perfect dining experience might be required to stay around long term. Hopefully, being open all day will help with success, too.

On our latest visit we were sitting outside when it started raining. We walked inside and asked to move in since we had already ordered our food. At 9:30 a.m. there were only two other customers inside and plenty of open tables. The person who greeted us said, "Hmm, well I'm not sure... we have a big party coming at 11:30." I looked at my watch and replied, "That's two hours from now and there are lots of tables open right now." We got seated, our food arrived, and then it started raining harder. Instead of quietly moving out the couches to add additional tables and chairs, the staff dragged them all across the floor, creating loud scraping noises the entire time. It made for a really unpleasant dining experience. We asked for a little more coffee, but it never came. We even flagged down our server and she just stared at us blankly as if we had never asked. We eventually just got up and left. The food was good, but it doesn't make up for the terrible service and rude treatment.

The food took a while also. Not once did she come back to check on us to see if we wanted another drink while we were waiting. She was nice enough, and maybe this is her first wait job, I'll give her the benefit of the doubt. However, we noticed quite a few of the staff were just standing around. Hats off to the person who does their Instagram - they make the place look huge, but it's not. Everyone at the table said their dish was very tasty. You HAVE to try the ftench toast a try. Some of their food has a Filipino twist. My favorite is the egg Benedict and duck config. The bread in egg Benedict is crusty outside, fluffy and buttery inside. And the duck is soft inside, and the skin is nicely roasted. What I like a lot is the details they do to get the whole experience elevated. They have the cute happy birthday cards and a hook on the table side to hang the to go bag. Overall, very good experience, will come back to try the dinner menu.

The owner took the time to…read moreexplain to us the inspiration behind the dishes and that really made the restaurant super inviting. We started with the crab crostini and the Brussels sprouts. The crab was very fresh and each crostini had a large portion of crab on top. The Brussels sprouts were very crispy and very umami with the cheese and bacon combination mixed in. The empanada was honestly a showstopper. I don't know how to describe it other than you have to try it. Both pastas were good but I prefer the mushroom one over the short rib ragu. The halibut was also good, and the basil sauce made it even better. I was already super impressed with everything but I think the stars were the 2 desserts. The Dubai cheesecake was an Italian style cheesecake, so it was a lot lighter than I was expecting (which was welcomed) and captured the essence of Dubai chocolate without being too overwhelming. The Lira in Wonderland was also SO good. It had a crown of cotton candy and was a mix of biscoff cookies, dehydrated red velvet cake (don't knock it till you try it), butterscotch sauce, and strawberries. I was honestly blown away by this meal.

This was supposed to be a special birthday dinner date that my husband meticulously planned for me,…read morebut it turned into the most horrendous dining experience I've ever had. We dined at Lira on November 14th. The Service (or Lack Thereof): The Menu Shortage: We arrived for our 6:45 PM reservation only to be told by the manager that they didn't have enough menus. We were told they'd bring them "later." Ignored for 35+ Minutes: We sat with nothing but water for over half an hour. To make matters worse, a table of six was seated after us and received their full entrees while we were completely ignored. The Drink Mess: After 40 minutes, the server told me they were out of ingredients for my drink. When I picked a second option, she tried to insist I wanted a drink with celery (my most despised vegetable). We thankfully stopped her before it was made, but the incompetence was staggering. The Food Fiasco: An hour into our reservation, someone dropped off a scallop dish. A while later, a server asked if I'd "received the scallops yet," and I realized the plate I was eating wasn't even intended for our table. We were so starving that my husband and I just shared them. Once we finished, the server finally asked my husband if he "still wanted his meal or if he wanted to cancel it." I finally lost my cool - of course he still wanted his dinner! The Aftermath: My husband didn't realize that my friends had actually made a separate reservation to take me back to this same spot the following night for a second birthday celebration. After this performance, there was no way I was going to step foot in this building again or give them another cent of our money. I texted my friends from the table to cancel those reservations and book elsewhere. With service this disorganized and insulting, this restaurant won't be in business long. Super disappointing. Don't waste your special occasions here. *Edit - it looks like Lira has closed. With the service we experienced, I am not surprised in the slightest. I am hopeful that whichever future business occupies this space is more successful.

The hostess was very friendly and showed us to our table. We had a table inside, which was an intimate upscale casual area with a bar. We ordered the stuffed mushrooms for a starter. It was so hard to pick one because everything on the menu sounds so good. Alas, I have a small appetite. The mushrooms were very tasty and a nice start to our meal. For entrees, we had the halibut and prime filet with a side of broccolini. Everything was cooked perfectly and was delicious. Drinks are on the pricey side- I had a Hero Old Fashioned and the Taylor Made, $20 each. They were nicely crafted, so worth the price. They brought out a Carmel Popcorn Sundae for my husband's birthday and even gave him a birthday card which I thought was a nice touch. Service was slow and steady. We had ample time to enjoy our food without feeling rushed, but never felt like our server forgot about us. We spent about 2 hours for dinner. Probably not a place to go if you're in a hurry. I'm eager to return and try some more of the starters. It's the kind of place I'd love to take out of town guests - high quality fine dining in a casual and relaxed environment.

The restaurant had a nice visual ambience, but also felt casual as there was a lot of chatter, which isn't a bad thing depending on what you're looking for. Our waiter was especially friendly and helped us decide what to order. I really wish I could remember his name, as I'm posting this a bit late, but he was a huge reason why we had a great experience! Here's a quick rating on the food itself: Stuffed mushrooms (3.5/5): This was recommended by the waiter as a favorite among patrons. The mushrooms weren't bad or anything, but for some reason, it gave me combination pizza vibes that I wasn't expecting. It was good, but I wouldn't go out of my way to order it again personally. Bone-in ribeye (5/5): an amazing cut that was cooked perfectly. Exactly what you would expect from a good steakhouse. The compound butter was fantastic! Bone-in apricot glazed pork chop (3.5/5): this one may hit different for different folks. The pork was perfectly cooked and juicy, but the apricot glaze was definitely a little too sweet for our palettes. If you're looking for something more savory, I might try something else. But hey, sweet might be your thing too! Caramel popcorn sundae (4.5/5): we got this one complimentary for being our special day, which was a really nice surprise! And it was a full serving! This one was obviously sweet, but surprisingly more subdued than it sounds, which was really nice! Overall, it was truly a memorable night with great food. And though some things didn't quite work for our palettes, I can totally see that it may for others--so that didn't impact my ratings because they were still good--just not for us. That said, the care that we received on our anniversary was what truly made me land on a 5/5 rating. Definitely coming back for future special occasions!
